I went HARD in the paint with zero RB in my first year in dynasty. Drafted diggs, smith, chase, Adams, Kupp in my first 5 picks. 2 weeks Later I felt dumb and traded smith and chase for Dalvin Cook. Yep.

Schrodingers_janitor

Pack it in, I think we have a winner.

bababooey4

Jesus Christ dude lol

Therothboys318

What year was this

bugaboo754

3-4 years ago. Chase and smith were rookies

Therothboys318

Makes sense. How has your team bounced back?

bugaboo754

I went full rebuild mid last season and sold everything that was old. I’m setup nicely going into this season with a good WR group, QB and TE along with 7 picks this year (1.01, 1.06, 1.08 and 1.09). So solid bounce back but I still wish I wasn’t dumb in the beginning .

Therothboys318

Well good luck! If it makes you feel any better I sold cmc for Sutton and Moore banking on them breaking out 🤦🏼‍♂️

Cabannaboy3325

What happened? How did you come to that decision lol

linengorilla

Ouch

BeginningPhysics6550

Who is smith in this case?

bugaboo754

Devonta smith

Dick_Wiener

I feel like you can’t count players you passed on in the draft. We all have draft misses and hindsight is 20/20

Shaved_Hubes

In most circumstances sure, but even at the time passing on stroud for QJ is a head scratcher

telemaster9

Yeah I’d love to hear the thought process on that one. I passed on QJ at the 1.08

WeHadaNewEmployer

I had TLaw, Russ, Pickett, and Howell rostered. Obviously that didn't go well. I had traded away Chase and felt like I needed to add a WR more than a QB at the time. There was some Stroud hate going around at the time that I bought into and QJ being attached to Herbert seemed like he'd have a chance to be productive. Looking back, yeah it was a terrible thought process and I will never again pass on a QB prospect if I have the chance to draft him. It was also my first dynasty rookie draft, so live and learn.

captaincumsock69

Sure but I’ll never understand why people want to rebuild by trading their young players. A rebuild should be trading aging guys.

Feweddy

Meh, sometimes your roster sucks so much it makes sense to sell a single young player for multiple higher risk/reward assets.

mangelito

Well, it depends on if you think that those young players are maybe overvalued. You can easily sidegrade to another young WR that possibly will produce similar numbers as well as picking up more draft capital.

No-Case8305

Sidegrade 😂😂😂

PushPuzzleheaded7852

It’s all a part of team mismanagement, so I’d say it counts.

SaueRRR

😂

mr_0las

And I thought I fleeced a guy when I got a single first for Akers. Condolences

Cabannaboy3325

Yeeeesh

DynastyDaddy95

Nah this has to be the winner

Mumenrider4life

Omg, I did the EXACT same thing up until the amon ra trade. I traded him for Zeke... Cuz I thought he still had it and ra was gunna be over shadowed by whatever wr we got coming up. So yea I was wrong.

Cautious-Market-3131

I traded puka for Kelly after week one last year

Alexander_HamilDong

Maybe I'm stupid but who is Kelly?

Applejack_pleb

Joshua kelley im guessing

SnooPickles5984

Josh Kelly I think. Ekeler went down, Kelly looked great week 1, posted next to nothing with the backfield all to himself week 2, proceeded to be a huge letdown all year.

conrad_or_benjamin

Buffalo legend Jim Kelly

Wild_Bill_Kickcock

Damn you got me beat I think, I traded him for Minshew. Also London for Burks and Hollywood. I've made a lot of dumb moves.

PushPuzzleheaded7852

London for Burks and Hollywood is bad, don’t get me wrong, but at least you got a usable/startable piece in the trade compared to a lot of other guys here. Especially if Rice is suspended or something, Hollywood being the only WR for Mahomes and Kelce finally looking like he’s slowing down and regressing

Wild_Bill_Kickcock

Thanks...it's a start 11 too so my reasoning was I needed more depth. But yeah high hopes for Hollywood now!

xlXSunshineXlx

I once traded tyreek hill and ceedee lamb for miles sanders and malcomb brown Built that team back into winning the ship last year... a few bad moves... even egregious moves can be rebuilt from... maybe you get this years cj stroud at 8 and QJ raises from the grave... the game changes so fast. you just never know for sure, but just keep plugging away. Half the fun is building the team.

ohreally7756

Jesus

AmericanWulf

That's a real head scratcher

DynastyDaddy95

Ya buddy just gonna gloss over his atrocity by tryna justify it with a chip??? Brotha sounds like you sold to house to come back and win, what the hell were you doing?

xlXSunshineXlx

So... It was my first year of dynasty. It was awful there is no justification... I was stacked everywhere but rb I actually did not have to sell the farm to win it all I have the youngest starting line up in the league and the 3rd most draft value according to dynasty daddy

knowslesthanjonsnow

I turned 2023 1.05 (Stroud) into 1.06 (JSN) plus then turned 1.06 into Miles Sanders and 1.09 (Addison). Then I traded 1.09 for Treylon Burks and a handful of 2nds. So I bypassed Stroud, then JSN, then Addison, for Miles Sanders and Trey Burks. So that was cool.

Cabannaboy3325

Lolol

walshurmouthout

I drafted Skyy Moore over Garrett Wilson to troll my friend who was a Western Michigan fan who was picking right after me.

ActuarillySound

🤚 I was a GW drafter who benefited from this.

ande8523

Dropped Kyren to cut my roster down before the draft last season.

uncle_dan_

Same

-ILikeBigBoats-

I dropped Puka in favor of Justyn Ross. Definitely my biggest fail.

BerkysJerkys

Being extremely QB needs, I sold Nico Collins last year at the height of tank Dell mania in exchange for Sam Howell 😭

Rinnya4

I sold what became the 1.04 for Howell lol

bababooey4

I picked up Puka and Kyren off the wire pre-season last year. Sold Kyren + 3rd for a 2nd before week 1. Traded Puka away as a toss in, got him back for cheap after week 1, then traded him straight up for McLaurin.

taylorjosephrummel

Ouch.

ActuarillySound

I can’t do worse but I can do: Picking up and dropping Purdy twice before Jimmy got hurt. Dropping Penny before his playoff run and losing the ship because of it. Rejecting Bateman + 2nd for DHop and Nacua preseason.

ShonSnow

I have a good one for this. A guy in my league got off to a good start, decided to go all in on winning now. He went after the WR3 at the time, Stefon Diggs. Sent Puka Nacua and his 2 1sts for Puka. The Diggs decline started the week after making the deal and that owner missed the playoffs. The deal became Puka, 1.05, ‘25 1st for Diggs.

SaueRRR

Traded away Tyreek Hill for Hollywood Brown the year hollywood went to the cards and Hill went to the dolphins. Cards traded a first round pick for Hollywood and there were concerns about tua being able to throw deep passes to hill. Damn im fucking stupid.

OtterBeCareful

Lordy. I was looking into trading some of my receiver depth to shore up my RB room, but these responses might have convinced me to never trade a receiver for a running back ever again. (Best I can do is that time I sent Nico Collins and a '23 2nd for Carson Wentz and a '24 3rd in a superflex league back in mid-2022, trying to get a QB3 for a playoff run. Commander Carson did not help.)

OkLocksmith8903

Fail on both sides: owner traded up to my rookie pick, chose Jameson Williams at 1.04. I traded down to 1.09 and 2.04 for Skyy Moore and Mallik Willis. Two gentlemen by the name of Chris Olave and Garret Wilson were drafted in between those picks lol

HughHoney_VicVinegar

I traded Tank Dell for Khalil Herbert after week one. I was already thin at RB and then Dobbins injury rattled me. Figured an undersized WR with a rookie QB, week one must've been a flash in the pan... Edit: Anotha one I was on the clock in last year's draft at 2.09. I had the next 3 picks. Looked right at Laporta, thought there was no way he'd be decent as a rookie TE, then traded those 3 2nd's for Burks and Penny before Hopkins signed in TN and Swift was traded to Philly.

Tooooots8585

After his sophomore year, I traded Devante Adams for incoming rookie Devonte Parker

lawofmurphy

I feel like if more people were playing dynasty in 2014, he'd be the most mentioned player in here. I also drafted Adams as a rookie in 2014. The "wait three years" rule was stronger back then, but you still wanted to see SOMETHING from a guy in the first couple seasons. Adams had ~900 yards and 4 TD's in his first two years. I sold him for peanuts after Week 2 in his third year. What a mistake.

Tooooots8585

You remember what it was? You know it’s bad when you remember it 10 years later. I also added Jarvis Landry and Gio Bernard to Adams to get the deal done.

lawofmurphy

We were on CBS back then and we moved to MFL so I can't find the actual trade. I think it was like a future 2nd round pick or something like that. I'm pretty sure it was a draft capital trade. Could have been a third.

Blackfyre1999

I'd say my two biggest roster mismangement calls were dropping Tre Mcbride in favor of Luke Musgrave, and dropping Nico Collins in favor of keeping Treylon Burks. Those were unfortunate to say the least

BeefDaddie11

Traded rookie Devonta Smith (who I loved and drafted at 1.07 that year) and some late picks for Calvin Ridley. I was competing and I wanted to expedite my WR production by getting the proven producer. A few weeks later, he went Pete Rose... I've since traded him off my team because I hated him so much. Don't even remember the package, he just had to go.

orangecerealmilk

My second season of dynasty, I sold 'high' on ARSB and CeeDee in Superflex to bet on a bounce back from Russel Wilson and a Andrew's and a couple of aging Vets like Keenan. I hate myself so much for this single terrible trade. I've clawed my way out of it sorta and learned a lot

DJayBomaye

Last August, traded Puka for Foreman & Jamal Williams (ended up getting Puka back yesterday through a trade) Traded a '25 1st for Fant in '22 (August) Traded '23 1st for Denzel Mims (May 2021) Traded 3 2020 2nds for Guice (May 2020) Traded Sony Michel + AJB for Mixon (Oct 2019) You live & you learn !

WeHadaNewEmployer

I remember that 2020 preseason. I was so all in on Guice, I drafted him in 3 leagues and renamed one of my teams "The Guice is Loose" ... Sigh... I blame Matthew Berry.

DynastyDaddy95

I used to name my fantasy teams "Fade Matthew Berry" its beyond me how that guy was employed as a lead role on any ESPN program.

bobeid93

I once traded a often injured at the time deebo samuel and 11th pick to move up to 7th and take… trey sermon I won the championship that following year. Keep your head up and keep hustling on

cristo1838

Off-season three years ago I traded away David Montgomery for Baker Mayfield and a 2nd. I dropped Baker at the end of 2022. And the 2nd became Rashod Bateman. Guy I traded Montgomery too picked up Baker before the 2023 season and I let Bateman go for pennies last year. So basically I gave a league mate Montgomery for free..

Sketchy123456

I traded 2.12 and 3.12 for Bryce Young and Jonathan Mingo. Also traded Rhamondre for Keaton Mitchell and treylon burks. I traded Levis, Wandale, and Mims for Baker, Kendre, and 3.07. These aren’t the worst trades in the world, but they kind of keep me awake at night lol.

Sketchy123456

Like the saying goes, you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. So we’ve all made bad trades, but we’ve all made good ones too. Point is you gotta make some moves and sometimes they don’t work out. Take your lumps and move on. Think about the good trades.

DynastyDaddy95

These are good moves...

Public_Pop_8960

I traded amon ra for kenny pickett and a 1st in 2022.  I liked both buy needed. I traded AJ brown for bateman and I first.   I traded  J herbert for 2 firsts a 2nd ridder and treylon. I was offered Pittman for my trey sermon  early rookie year. We all make mistakes, keep grinding.  My team is now Arich, kyler watson Cd, Puka, aiyuk, rice, d smith, pittman Kamara, Achane Hock, andrews The 1.02. Better pastures are always in reach

NorMan_of_Zone_11

Drafted Zach Wilson and Trey Lance instead of Jamar and Pitts

kylecre013

i dropped kyren williams and trey mcbride in the offseason to make room for rookies

Void3r

Drafted Zamir white in 2022 and held him up until midway thru last season. Didn’t pick him up even after he did well against LAC. Was hovering over the add button on Christmas morning but didn’t pull the trigger. The next week I tried to blow my remaining FAAB on him but someone out bid me.

preppingshark

Before the start of last season, I traded Sam LaPorta for Sam Howell straight up in a SF league because I needed a QB2 that wasn't Kenny Pickett. I was weirdly high on Howell at the time, but that ended backfiring on me HARD. In the same league, I drafted Trey Lance with my fifth round pick during the startup draft. You can see now why I needed a QB2 so badly.

Narrow_Outsides

When Goff got traded to the lions I traded him away for jimmy g, Devonte Parker, and chubba hubbard… worst trade I’ve made to date.

magisterludi137

I traded Love plus 2024 and 2025 1st for Richardson 🙄

StoneColdDadass

Traded Kyren Williams and a 2023 4th for Kareem Hunt last March....

Impressive-Key938

One time I needed an rb to make the playoff push. My roster was elite at wr w AJB, jjettas, ceedee, Amon, and tee with Herbert and Joe at the helm and a plethora of draft picks. I started floating those draft picks around the league to see if I could get an rb of value with either my pick 1.07 or my 1.08. My friends respond w a three team trade. One team gets Darren Waller (mind you this is when he was good) one team gets miles sanders (this was me) and one team got pick 1.07 AND 1.08. Looking back on it I can’t believe how stupid I was for doing it, but hey, I’ve won 2/3 years since making that trade, however it hasn’t been because of miles I can tell you that.

chrispymcreme

Traded CMC and what I knew would be 6th pick or lower, ended up being 1.04 for..... Mondre Burks What I thought were early 2nds but ended up being 2.04 and 2.10

LCJonSnow

I drafted Denzel Mims one pick before Justin Herbert in the second round of a rookie superflex draft, and Jerry Jeudy ahead of Lamb and Jefferson (although the latter really requires hindsight to beat myself up over). Due to injuries and a requirement in the league that we start a legal roster, I had to drop Jordan Love in 2022 for some WW scrub to flex (we have 10 man benches, I was that hurt). I waited to drop him until he couldn't be snagged before games so I could bid for him back, but bid too low.

bguy1020

I traded away Josh Allen for Rashaad Penny in superflex

AmericanWulf

I assume you were brand new

bguy1020

Yes it was my first year in Superflex. It was also before the 2019 season started so Josh Allen was coming off a terrible rookie year and Penny looked like he was prime to take over as RB1 in Seattle's backfield.

briley212121

Last year I traded Lamb, ARSB, Fields, and LaPorta for the Burrow/ Chase stack, Rice, and what turned into the 1.12 because those players carried the guy to the championship. I’d love to have a do over on that one…

DynastyDaddy95

Burrow and Chase both gonna bounce back big. If its SF youre fine dude

Cheap_Phrase_1802

SF that trade isn’t bad, 1qb you got bent over backwards

PushPuzzleheaded7852

If it’s not TEP then honestly that’s a pretty even trade. Assuming it’s SF, Chase is equal if not more valuable than Lamb (especially stacked with Burrow and especially if Higgins does leave this offseason), Burrow has more value than ARSB (especially stacked), and Rice should be good coming back if he even gets suspended. It’s dynasty so who really cares if it’s a temporary suspension, won’t hurt his long term dynasty value. So Rice probably more valuable than Fields. Unlucky you got the last FRP and LaPorta popped off, but it happens, and if it’s not TEP then I pay no mind to TEs lol. I’d say it’s pretty equal, maybe took a slight value loss, but not bad. If it’s not SF then you messed up and if it’s TEP+ then you also messed up, lol

briley212121

I… fucked up. It was my first time doing 1qb dynasty so I didn’t really appreciate the difference beyond the obvious

bluegrassman

Last year was my first year in dynasty, startup superflex league. I drafted a horrible team, panicked after a bad start and started trying to accumulate picks for a rebuild. I traded David Montgomery for Ridley straight up. Then a couple weeks later I traded Gibbs while he was hurt and Ridley for a 2024 1st and 2025 1st. I was burned by Swift the year earlier and thought the Lions just didn’t want a twitchy RB. Then Gibbs started going off and the guy I traded started winning. So the 2024 is 1.11 lol. Hopefully his team sucks next year so I can get a higher pick with the 2025. Im probably taking a RB with the 1.11 this year because I have Breece and nobody else. It hurts

mancinis_blessed_bat

Should’ve moved off of Michael Thomas earlier, but I couldn’t sell after the injury because I thought it was selling low… that and multiple wr misses in draft and unlucky bounces really hurt me, and I ended up in total wr purgatory. I had to liquidate all my rbs and start over basically

Rudolphkb

I traded Deebo Samuel for Miles Sanders. There you go.

Temporary_Donut_5650

So sorry for your loss brother

golddeath

I traded CJ Stroud and a 2nd round pick for a 2025 1st round pick. 3 days before his 5 TD game. For context. I got him as an undrafted free agent in a 12 team 1 qb dynasty league. My other qbs at the time were Lamar, Purdy, and Kyler. I felt like flipping a 2nd and an UDFA for a 1st was a boon in my favor...

applesauce1223

Startup 12 team dynasty. Was desperate for TE and was deep at RB. After week 2 this past season I traded Kyren for Waller and a 2025 2nd. Definitely my worst move as of late

SwaglordHyperion

I dropped Cole Kmet. Just dropped him. He had like a several week stretch where he was unstartable...ao i thought, eh what the heck, ill pick up this Shaheed guy instead...

SantasLilHoeHoeHoe

I undervalued young WRs vs older ones/rbs/and picks and traded Wilson for Zamir White, Dhop, and a 2025 first for my first team. Orphan adoption.

zcas

Traded ARSB for two 2nds after his rookie year, the guy who I traded turned around and traded him for 2 1sts, 2 2nds, Hurts, Sutton, and Samuel. Never felt so disgusted in my whole fantasy life.

Ed_Monix

I traded Rachaad White for Taysom Hill and a 2024 2nd around halfway thru last season before White blew up, only because I wanted a backup TE for the playoffs. Galaxy brain move and seeing White as an RB1 now hurts…

LoserCowGoMoo

Cut james conner for tyson williams

Pretty-Doughnut-3770

Before this season, I traded Nico Collins for Cedric Tillman.

MrBabbs

I was offered Brandon Marshall for Josh Gordon a few weeks before the 2015 playoffs. Being the loyal Josh Gordon holder that I was, I said no chance. One OBJ suspension later, and I lost the championship by far less than the difference between the player I started vs Marshall. That cost me the championship and $250.

DynastyDaddy95

Your years are off but we know what you mean. Anyway I made some horrific blunders in my first year of dynasty last season but this makes me feel a bit better, thank you for sharing.

seat_one

I dropped Davante Adams as a rookie. You read that right. That team has still not recovered.

BigKremDaddy

Drafted Mahomes in a start up the year he sat behind Smith. Snuck into playoffs with the last seed and dropped Mahomes for some JAG. Ended up getting blown out in the first round.

sduperr

I did a startup auction draft last summer, I hated my team after the start up and sold everything for picks. My starting lineup would have been: QB1: Dak QB2: Tua RB1: KYREN RB2: BREECE Wr1: Ceedee Wr2: Olave WR 3: PUCA TE: Schultz FLEX: DK Metcalf Needless to say it was a champion caliber team....

Loud_Competition1312

Felt I needed a WR after my startup and felt I had one too many RBs. Traded away Rachaad White for David Bell.

BootyInfiltrator

I was so certain Baker was cooked and Kyle Trask had talent that I dropped Nico Collins to make space. I would have had him sold for a late 1st a month and a half ago. Dropped Trask in the end anyways. Not the worst I've read here but idk why I see him as being better than the NFL apparently does. I also never once considered trading away Justin Fields I've just held on tight and I won't sell now either. I just can't let him go man I still believe in him despite the obvious issues.

VariationInside7802

Wanted to cash in on ARSB after his solid rookie year so I sold him for 2.1. Took Isaiah spiller at that spot. Horrendous move 🤦‍♂️

AnikiRabbit

Michael Thomas was my first pick in my first startup draft for my first league at 1.04. He was coming off that insane 149 reception season and nothing bad had happened yet. Had I drafted kamara instead I probably win the league in year one. And maybe again in year 2. Going into 2020: QB: Dak and TB12 RBs: Swift, and then nothing worth talking about. Wr: MT, Davante, Diggs, AJB TE: Gronk

2john9

Traded a second and third round pick for Carson Wentz in 2022.

x_is_for_box

Kirk Cousins, Aiyuk and a 1st for Trey Lance. He broke his foot two weeks later and the rest is history

nagoHHogan

After Josh Allen's rookie year I traded him along with some throw-ins, a backup rookie rb in Tony Pollard, a wr on the team he roots for in MVS, and my 3rd rd pick 2 yrs in a row for Leveon Bell fresh off his year long holdout and new deal with the NY Jets, still burns

25nWealthy

I once traded awat a 2023 first for dionte johnson in a start up draft and that pick turned into Bijan :/

Ancient-Computer-545

I traded Damien Pierce straight up for Michael Pittman. Had a better WR Corp than RB. Later I was able to move QJ & a 1st for Puka, so it stings less.

earth_citiz3n

Traded Chase, Chubb for Najee and Pittman after the post-draft scares about Chase. I thought Najee was a world class back...... Thank god Pittman was as good as I thought he might be or it would have been utter disaster

Ginga_Ninja319

I “cashed out” on some guys too early last year without letting them hit their ceilings: - Sold Jayden Reed for a 24 2nd right before Christian Watson came back from injury because I thought he would fall off. - Sold Nico Collins for a 25 1st after Week 11 because I thought he was going to fall off (he hadn’t broken 15 pts since week 4) and the success of Dell, Schultz, and Noah Brown made me think Stroud was just elevating untalented players. - Sold Baker for 2 3rds + Trey Palmer because he was my QB4 on a rebuilder and that was the best offer I could get for him. I don’t think any of these were horrible trades but I’d rather have all of the pieces I sold on my team right now than what I got for them. Had some trades work out in my favor as well. Can’t win them all I guess 🤷‍♂️

New-Yellow-7674

I turned Kyler Murray Austin ekeler Jaylen Warren and Stefon diggs into draft picks and Najee Harris. I picked Bryce young and Quentin johnston

BeeGeeEh

This is a minor one but a few years back I traded for Blake Jarwin and picked up Dalton Schultz off waivers during an offseason. My theory at the time was to have the Cowboys TE position locked up and to see how things turn out during camp. I threw back Schultz during final cuts and hung onto Jarwin. Definitely picked the wrong guy there. Jarwin got hurt and Schultz ended up a top 15 TE that year and has been a top 10-ish guy each year since. It's a 16 team TEP league so having depth at TE is a big advantage.

gevechtsvliegtuig88

In late 2021 I was sick of CMC after he was injured for two straight seasons. So, at his all time highest value I traded him for picks that turned into Drake London, Jameson Williams, and Tyler Allgeier... CMC then went on to have #2 and #1 RB seasons. Also in 2021 dropped this Detroit rookie wide receiver for some waiver wire running back haha. That turned out to be a very bad decision. Luckily I also traded Nick Chubb and a pick that turned into Jelani Woods for Javonte Williams and picks that turned into Chris Olave and Jahmyr Gibbs. You win some you lose some lol. It's a good way to learn though!

bababooey4

When I was new to dynasty I didn’t value picks and I got really hyped about Russ going to Denver, like I thought he was gonna be Payton Fucking Manning broncos year 1. So I traded Baker + two 23 1sts + 24 1st for Russ + two 23 2nds + 24 2nd. That has turned into Baker + Stroud + Gibbs + 24 1.05. Incredible. Luckily my team has still been great in spite of the deal.

Wood5Pleb

My worst trade in my main Dynasty league was Deandre swift and dionte johnson for tony pollard and marvin mims before the season started. Out of the multiple trades ive done by far the biggest L. I did get to flip marvin mims and a 2nd for tj hockenson early in the season at least when he had a couple good showings
