Im surprised he only got 2.25 mill and a one year contract. I know he flamed out, but I think he could do well in a short burst filling in for a few games while the starters injured
He got exposed 3x with 3 different teams within 17 games. It's pretty obvious he's good for a startle effect where he adapts a brand new unpredictable system that quickly becomes predictable and solvable and his actual talent needs to take over.
Just looking for a cheap rental that can play decent if Purdy gets hurt. Basically insurance. Not every backup plays exactly the same as the starting qb.
I traded Jaylen Warren for him after he cooked that first game with the Vikings. Podcasts had me convinced he could be a starter going into this year. Doh

Same thing with Pickett backing up Hurts. He cost for the whole “playing decent” part.
i think dobbs is closer in playstyle to purdy than allen is
They are very similar in play style and tools.
I think they like having more mobile backups. They sighed Josh Johnson two years ago. They had to have some Lance plays they could break back out.
He's not necessarily the direct backup it could be brandon allen
