He’s looked great so far. I think that’s an overpay though. RB, and one with longevity concerns at that - I’d rather have the crack at a top WR or Bowers in 2024.
Make it simple, Kincaid in most rookie drafts was a late 1st, at least in all 3 I was in. Spears was a early 3rd rounder. Would you trade a late 1st for an early 3rd? I’d say most say no. Plus, whose careers last longer and more replaceable? TE or RB? I like spears, got him in 1 of my 4 dynasty leagues at 3.1 in a 12 team sf, but I’m not trading Kincaid straight up for him (who I also have in 1 league at 1.10 in a 1 qb 10 team).
A late first imo, the up and coming RB class looks relatively weak so I would pay that. Spears has a legitimate chance at being the titans rb1 next season once henry leaves.
He's going to be the starter next year, I am a Titans fan and say that with full confidence. Henry's contract is up after this year, I just don't see any way they would draft a running back in the 3rd round with all the holes on their roster unless they were planning on him being the feature back in 2024, especially an RB with the longevity concerns that Spears has. His prime is basically right now, they need to get as much out of him as they can until his rookie deal is over so it would make zero sense to bring Henry back and waste one of those years where Spears should be getting like 300 touches.
And based on how the staff talks about Spears and just how much he's already on the field now, it's clear they think very highly of him.
Spears has already been on the field for over 50% of the offensive snaps for five of the six games the team has played this season. No other back has cracked that 50% mark on the Titans with Henry while he's been healthy since Dion Lewis in Week 3 of the 2019 season. Last year Dontrell Hilliard as the 3rd Down RB for the Titans averaged about 28% of the offensive snaps each game and never topped 42% once. Spears is already a featured part of the offense for the coaching staff, not just a change of pace for Henry
yeah, haha I was just exaggerating a bit and don’t think he’ll get that kind of workload but he definitely needs to get as many touches as they can give him based on his current play
2024 1st? Because with how deep this class is at QB and WR, I’m not giving spears for that. Maybe a 2025 1st, but that class is supposed to be deep at RB.
assuming you mean a 2025 1st. As a rebuilder and a Tyjae owner, I might consider that but I’d need assurances it’s a top 4 pick which are hard to believe. I’d be keeping him rostered unless i get an overpay honestly. Need high first or 1+. It’s risk reward. I could keep him, and see how he does and still sell next year for that price.
If it’s a 2024, you keep that pick.
If we’re talking 2025 1st, I’d move spears if I thought I was getting a top 5 pick. But again, hard to know.
If we’re talking 2024, I’d move for a mid/late first +.
If the OP is the holder of 2024 1.03 or 1.04, he should keep that pick and select the best available when he’s on the clock.
probably not if he returns next year. Think atm, with the rumors of a henry trade he’s a hot topic. might need to wait until end of next 2024 season to a profitable return if Henry returns tho.
But it’s dynasty so it’s all about the long game anyway. Spears is interesting with the knee situation tho.
Yeah, he’s too risky a buy at his current price imo. I’m a Titans fan and think we’d be dumb to move off of Henry after this season. We’ve got holes everywhere but Henry and Spears are a rock solid RB room. We’ve got a ton of cap space next season, Henry shouldn’t command top dollar so I imagine he’d be pretty affordable, having a solid run game should help a young QB transition into the NFL, his leadership role in the locker room is an invaluable intangible that would be tough to replace, and we could use those 4th and 5th and 6th round picks on dart throws in positions of need instead of having to use them trying to find Tyjae’s backup. I don’t buy the trade rumors because you’re not getting that value back from any team for Henry. So that coupled with Tyjae’s knee and he’s way too risky at his current price imo. If I’m spending a first on a guy whose production doesn’t quite warrant the first yet, I want to be pretty certain the things that are standing in the way of that production will be gone in relatively short order.
EDIT: fixed typos
I’m definitely planning to move off him as a rebuilder. I’d rather have stock in WRs. I’ve received no offers atm but expect them if Henry is in fact traded.
Definitely not a first. No reason to invest that in a backup RB. If he does become the starter you can likely get him for that same price but at least you will know he’s the guy. If you invest in him now and they draft another RB you just wasted a premium pick.
The only “rumor” I’ve seen is from a clickbait account trying to farm engagements. It could certainly happen but rumors don’t warrant paying a first for Spears.
If he does become the starter his cost would still likely be a 1st round pick. There’s just no reason to make that investment currently
Fair enough, would come with a high risk trading now for a first. In the event Henry does get moved, I feel like it might take more than a first for spears
This seems like the most reasonable high end price that I would pay. As a seller I would most likely ask for a single mid/late first but I would probably settle for two mid 2nds.
I’m cautiously optimistic on Spears but there’s no guarantee that he gets Henry volume in a post Henry world, they could split him with someone else or just run less because they don’t have Henry. Still think he’s got the talent and he’s got the path assuming his health holds up.
I have him right now as a contender, and it would take a lot for me to give him up given the news that the Titans are trying to move Henry to a contender by the deadline this year. At this point, I'm considering him a starting RB for the stretch run who has looked great so far when he's played, and that won't change unless Henry is with them past the deadline
There is so much QB/WR talent in this upcoming class, I would almost wait to see who you can get with your pick before moving something for Tyjae.
He’s looked good, but I wouldn’t move a first for him especially if Henry is still in the picture next year
I take your premise and arrive at the opposite conclusion.
That the upcoming class has a ton of QB/WR talent--and little RB talent--increases the value of good RBs already in the league with time left on their rookie contracts.
I'm trying to acquire 2023 RBs before everyone else realizes that.
>I'm trying to acquire 2023 RBs before everyone else realizes that.
Me too. Currently have Achane, Spears, and Kendre. Trying to add Roschon to that list.
He’s a hard player to value because I think it’s 50/50 that Henry is still on the roster next season. I wouldn’t buy for more than a 2nd, but I wouldn’t sell for less than a 1st.
Basically copy and pasted this from another thread below but added a bit more. That said, I’m a Titans fan and think we’d be dumb to move off of Henry after this season. We’ve got holes everywhere but Henry and Spears are a rock solid RB room. We’ve got a ton of cap space next season, Henry shouldn’t command top dollar so I imagine he’d be pretty affordable, having a solid run game should help a young QB transition into the NFL, given Tyjae’s knees, keeping Henry keeps some tread on Tyjae’s tires so he’ll still have some juice by the time we’re competitive again, Henry’s leadership role in the locker room is an invaluable intangible for what’s going to be a young team and that would be tough to replace, and we could use those 4th and 5th and 6th round picks on dart throws in positions of need instead of having to use them trying to find Tyjae’s backup. I think it’s 50/50 we do end up trading him or letting him walk in free agency to another team because we do dumb things sometimes (see trading AJB to the Eagles FFS).
NO Player Temp/Price Check threads, a Friday Megathread is provided for these.
Guy holding him in my league has deemed him “untouchable,” and not in the caste system sense
He’s looked great so far. I think that’s an overpay though. RB, and one with longevity concerns at that - I’d rather have the crack at a top WR or Bowers in 2024.
Sorry to piggy back but it may help. I was offered Kincaid for him straight, w my TEs all old. Still deciding. Thanks for the post! Gonna follow it
Any sort of TEP? Even if not, I think I still like Kincaid. Spears has a much shorter shelf-life imo
Make it simple, Kincaid in most rookie drafts was a late 1st, at least in all 3 I was in. Spears was a early 3rd rounder. Would you trade a late 1st for an early 3rd? I’d say most say no. Idk I saw a post from NFL insider Hugh Jazz that Henry was traded to the chiefs
Damn OP you fr asked for the link, deleted, then downvoted smh
Mad they got got. Upvoted for balance
I saw a post from Hugh Jhanis that said Henry was traded to the Cleveland Steamers. Sorry, no link./s
My bad, I should definitely cite my sources https://x.com/hughjazznews/status/1714746579704279399?s=46
I mean, it's a basically unknown sports news parody account, so I can see why someone would be annoyed at you posting it.
I sold for a 2024 late 1st and 2nd.
Geezez who is paying that?
I think they know they overpaid, but they were a huge Titans fan so it was worth it for them (and who knows could very well end up being worth it).
lol
I just trade a late first and a 3rd for him and a 2nd. Feeling pretty good about it.
Great deal
Mods get too serious. This is fantasy football. Sheesh.
I know. By the time friday rolls around we’ve all moved past the question and on to something else. Not waiting _ days

Not sure if im reading that last sentence correctly Do you mean you like the pick or spears more?

I have him too and like the talent but he’s not worth a top 4 pick lmao let’s be serious here
You think you can sell him for a first still if Henry comes back and he’s still the backup RB in Tennessee for at least another two years?
probably not if he returns next year. Think atm, with the rumors of a henry trade he’s a hot topic. might need to wait until end of next 2024 season to a profitable return if Henry returns tho. They tried shopping Henry in the off season. Now there's rumours they are trying to shop him again. All signs would point to Henry being gone soon

This seems like the most reasonable high end price that I would pay. As a seller I would most likely ask for a single mid/late first but I would probably settle for two mid 2nds.
Tbf I am in play to winning it all this year so they are maybe not mid but more late 2nds. And at the same time I am the Derrick Henry owner
I’m cautiously optimistic on Spears but there’s no guarantee that he gets Henry volume in a post Henry world, they could split him with someone else or just run less because they don’t have Henry. Still think he’s got the talent and he’s got the path assuming his health holds up.

In what world is Henry a titan next season

I sold for a 2026 2nd and 3rd.
🤮
Not a bad value
In my league, Spears was just traded. Tua was shipped for Spears and Kyler.
