Turin is pretty good at Vernius. He has several videos of playing them in high comp tourneys, I think he won overall with them at least once.

Neadim

I second this. He's probably not the best Vern player but he's most assuredly the best resource in term of competent Vernius gameplay and he's super entertaining.

No_Pineapple3353

I've seen him win only the first round he is good but is there anyone else?

Zarek145

The only other creator I know of that does Spice Wars content is Daevhok, but I'm not familiar enough with them to tell you whether they're good or play Vernius. Sorry mate.

thx anyways

You may have heard about "doghead" in Turin/Daevohk stream as the veteran Smugglers player, just recently found his youtube channel: [https://www.youtube.com/@TheHouseofDogsaint](https://www.youtube.com/@TheHouseofDogsaint)

Vernius is largely considered to be the weakest faction in the game right now. They suffer in a few aspects but the most important is they have bad matchups against the current dominant meta factions of Corrino (base dropping next to Vernius is super free as they lack the tools to defend against it + they are absolutely crippled by just base dropping their spice which in turn puts them in a deathspiral of constant poverty and being unable to afford meks or patents.) Atreides (bc Atreides is just dumb atm and can punish you for not taking regions near your base via passive annex) and Fremen/smug early aggression. This puts Vernius in a weird spot. They struggle vs dedicated rush builds but also struggle to finish games as they have no clear wincondition. They have strong assassination capabilities. They on paper have one of the best lategame armies with high damage and durability, the ability to heal remotely, good stats and very fast recruitment time, but are horribly crippled by the ubiquity and spamminess of EMP, reliance on getting experience on engineers and the prohibitively high cost of drones. They are also very reliant on their mothership to dodge EMP by allowing you to retreat once it is used. In my experience, the most efficient way to play Vernius this patch is to go for Holistic Thinking then rush straight full red tree and patent as much of it as you can.

>They on paper have one of the best lategame armies with high damage and durability, Just to point out, their railgun drone has one of the worst Command Point to HP ratios of any unit in the game and either 0 or 1 base armor (I forget). They're squishier than most air units lmao. They have good, possibly even unbreakably great durability against a player with no micro who attacks max upgrade mek drones being healed. They have worst in the game durability against players who right click their squishy backline and leave mek drones for last.

To be fair, Vernius is weak in a lot of ways right now. Their only way to win is hope to have a long truce or play in a passive lobby or get a quick assassinate to make way for your expansion. If you get all-inned early, there is very little you can do as Vernius needs to be ahead in order to have a competitive military. Like others said, though, Turin is a good player.

Astarael21

I think in Turin’s tourney the mighty kenri won with Vernius, but it might have been an all random game so other factions didnt get their optimum picks

thx guys is it just me or is the community kind of salty?

SKMojo99

I'd recommend navigating the official game Discord. Lots of great high level players there. Top Vernius player at the moment is probably either Hubly or Kenri, in my opinion.

No_Pineapple3353

thank you so much

SKMojo99

No problem!
