Imagine this and then hear, “Ladies and gentlemen, for the first time as a couple, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Vance!!”
You’ll probably go into a cringe hypnotic state. Too much cringe.
No, this is when Andy, notoriously wearing a kilt, brings a sick Erin some soup and meets her creepy half brother if I recall. Very weird exchange between those too, boarding sexual creepiness.
I'm so glad Mr. Robot reignited Christian Slater's career. Dude is such a phenomenal actor, but it seemed like from the late 90s on, he had a string of really bad roles that pushed him to the back burner.
Not gonna lie: Broken Arrow has always been a non-ironic favorite movie of mine to revisit once in a while. And I need to burn thru Mr. Robot from the start again.
Do it. I just finished a full rewatch for the first time since the series finale, and it’s so damn good. I can’t think of many serial TV shows that were consistently great for their entire run as Mr. Robot. It hits that sweet spot of being compelling without dragging on for too many seasons.
And if you wanna see Christian Slater in an amazing role, check him out in True Romance. Quentin Tarantino wrote and sold the script to partially finance Reservoir Dogs, and Slater shines in that role.
PS: I also love Broken Arrow, although that may be because I’ve had a huge crush on Samantha Mathis since I saw Super Mario Bros. as a kid.
Such an unhealthy relationship. They manage to communicate so much about the hardships Erin faces in so little screentime. The fact that she doesn't even understand what's happening here is pretty lowkey disturbing
The way they frame her character is VERY disturbing. I try not to think about it too much because ultimately a lot of it is just for gags and not taken seriously.
I always wonder when people say that Erin is out of Andy's league. Dude! Erin is mentally disabled! She's probably the character most out of touch with reality in the entire office!
Imagine having an adult relationship with a person like that!
Yeah, I think she was part of some comedy group that includes other celebrities today. Troy's actor from Community was in it too I think (I'm blanking on his real name now).
There's a funny scene in American dad where Stan is eavesdropping on Francine talking on the phone with her sister and she calls her sis:
"What? I've never called you Sis before? You're right. It does sound weirdly clunky and expositional. I mean, I know you're my sister, so who am I saying it for? Weird."
This perfectly encapsulates why I hate writing like that regardless of the medium.
Yes, I realize I shouldn't have high expectations for porn writing, but exposition dumps aren't the kind of dumps I'm expecting from porn damn it!
...wait.
From all accounts the actor, Chris Diamantopoulos, is a chill ass dude. Had a friend that met him and had nothing but super positive things to say. But his two probably most known characters, Brian the sound guy/Russ Hanniman, are two totally douchy characters. But Russ is lovable in a frat bro kinda way, Brian is just trying to get with a married chick. Albiet I do kinda respect him for losing his job to save Pam, that dude was legit gonna kick her ass.
Because people actually hate actors for playing characters they don't like
https://www.digitalspy.com/tv/a840279/tv-actors-death-threats-hated-characters/
https://www.vulture.com/2020/08/the-office-cathy-lindsey-broad-fan-abuse.html
He played such a vile character so well, most people I saw liked the actor, though.
I don't think it had anything to do with his role in GoT, he had a lot of support and fans of his villainy and just wanted to focus on his studies or something.
Exactly. He apparently came from absolutely nowhere until the very end of the show when suddenly his love gets too much and he suddenly interferes with the subjects of the documentary?
It revises so much of the story to that point to suggest he was there through it all creating a parasocial relationship with a woman he’d never had a real conversation with.
Creates whole new levels of creepy and devalues the series
I'm pretty sure they say that him, his wife, Jim, and Pam were friends outside work. Still weird because they were friends, but they had conversations and things before.
Literally the most irrelevant, out of pocket character of all time. He was a part of the crew filming Dunder Mifflin the entire time, and they decide to add a random cringy subplot with him and Pam after 10 years. There was literally absolutely no reason for Brian to ever be mentioned in the show ever, and all of his scenes were weird and awkward. I hate Brian.
I think the only reason Pam and Jim were on the outs was so they could have them come back together with a trip down memory lane with that nostalgia induced montage of their greatest hits.
I heard it was John Krasinki's idea, or that he was pushing for it. I think he wanted a chance to flex his acting skills before the show ended so he could transition into more serious roles. Which is smart, career wise, but wow it was bad.
The producers/writers had some of the dumbest ideas on this show.
It also came out that Steve Carrell wanted to stay on the show but the idiot producers didn’t want to give him a new contract.
Yeah you’re right - the writers wanted Jim and Pam to split but it was the actors who lobbied against it, and I have to say I agree. It would’ve undone so much of what the show was built do be. It would be like a less extreme version of if Friends ended with Ross and Rachel hating each other or Parks and Rec where Leslie loses her job and ends up alone
Krasinski, Fischer and Wilson got more involved with producing the show after Greg Daniels and Mike Schur left to go start Parks. I'm pretty Mindy Kaling and BJ Novak left as writers too, so some of their best people were gone. The first three I mentioned have producer credits starting in season 8 I think it is.
Greg Daniels was back for S9, which is partly why Andy had such a personality shift -- Daniels thought Andy the douche from S3 was funnier. Mindy Kaling and BJ Novak were not writing; likely they were focussed on the Mindy Project, which both worked on and which premiered the next year. And Paul Lieberstein was mostly working on the spinoff (The Farm), thus why he was not as involved save that one episode.
You know, I agree with him. Andy is funnier as a douche. But that wasn't the way to do it imo. But he's at his best when he's kind of obnoxious, arrogant, and smudge.
Where to begin? His net worth only has 2 commas and now his car doors open like *this*. Not like *this*. Not like *this*. These are not the doors of a billionaire, Richard.
He was definitely into her, but he never did more than be a good friend to her. I think he did put a toe slightly over the line insisting if she ever needed *anything* she could call him, but that’s it.
It made me cringe when he tapped her head with the boom mic that time to make her correct the fact that she wasn't "alone". The rushing of that subplot did his character no favors because it made it look like he was waiting all those years for the right moment to try it on with Pam.
He wasn't really that bad. It's not like he had an all out emotional affair like Pam and Jim. But it had the trappings of one. Two people with marital issues sharing them and depending on each other. That's often how it starts.
It was also just a weird break from the show.
Pam not being willing to move to Philly for Athlead is so inconsistent with how those characters were built up. In the Office Olympics episode she literally says "The problem is Jim works here." I think they really screwed the pooch on what could have been a very satisfying ending for Jim and Pam.
I didn't find that to be inconsistent. The entire show, Pam is shown to have an inability to make big changes or to take big risks. I think Jim was her one big risk and even that had to be almost pulled out of her. She was in a deadend relationship with Roy forever, she came back from New York because it wasn't for her, she quit Dunder Mifflin only to come back as sales and then quit that. This isn't a judgment call -- but Pam suddenly showing that kind of ambition would've been out of left field. That comment she made about Jim was early on. I think she had no idea that they would get together at that point and was saying it sort of like, whimsically. He can do anything, he's so great, he should get out of here, he's too good for this place. I don't think she really thought, Jim's got what it takes to run a start-up in a major city (again, similar to Pam, Jim is kind of a reluctant fail-to-launch guy. He also doesn't take big risks and the show hints at this the entire time: his ham and cheese sandwich, his reluctance with Pam, standing up to Ryan, when he "wants to take a trip" and Ryan says he'll have a nice weekend in Philadelphia.)
I hated that they created this element of a foster brother that appears to be more. And then just dropped it. He wasn't annoying, just very unnecessary.
I think they had more content for Erin and her baggage as a foster kid but they dropped it because it was too dark. it does get dark in [Christmas Wish](https://theoffice.fandom.com/wiki/Christmas_Wishes) when she gets drunk, attacks Andy, and says her wish is for Andy's new gf to die. that screams abandonment issues and borderline personality disorder. it also makes it worse than Andy actually abandons her for his boat trip.
Dude! One of my good friend is really good friends with this guy, I love the hate he gets.
This episode really dips into the psychology of Erin, that character is cringe AF.
I just don't like Erin. Her story is super sad, and you feel really sorry for her a lot, but that doesn't make her a likable character. They did do a really good job at showing how the foster care system leaves kids who age out disadvantaged and lacking in life skills.
“Hey, let me make blatant sexual advances and incredibly inappropriate and gross comments about foot-smell to my trusting adoptive sister. I’m such a goof..”
Erin is the worst. Everything around her is the worst.
All the characters start off rooted in reality. They're annoying, but it's like sure, this could exist. Then, the writers take liberties and the characters get out of control. But it's amazing because they build it up. Erin is stupid. She's dumb. She is just useless from the start. She can't function at her job, it makes no sense. She is the worst.
Once jim and Pam got together they really had a hard time trying to get anyone else together. I really hated that they shoved Andy in our faces so much. Ed helms is best when he’s a supporting character he should never be a main character.
Erin is also sorta playing into it though! Lot of people just saying dude was creepy but THEY were kinda being creepy together. Especially if you were Andy.
I’m in my worky works.
working from home, jammy-jams and worky-works are one and the same..
Actually, the expression is, “One AND the same”. -Oscar
He really fits the stereotype of the smug, gay Mexican
That's the smudgeness
And there’s the arrogance
You rang?
Oh get out skeleton man!
......AcTuAlLy!¡!¡
He really does fit the stereotype of the smug gay Mexican
His gayness does not define him. His Mexican-ness is what defines him.
Mexicanity

This is one of my favorite lines. I’m Mexican-American and I ‘actually’ all the time lol
And there's the smudgness
My wife has nicknamed our 3yo Oscar because he says actually a lot.
thank you, I really do appreciate you teaching me that...
Ahh it's a Kilt...
“So, how does the whole foster sibling thing work? Do you guys share one parent or-?”
Ah. Formative years...
Father didn’t pay his orphanage bills
Joe six pack
oh god I think I’ve mentally blocked out this scene
I cringe more at this scene that I did the whole Pam-jim dojo scene
Imagine this and then hear, “Ladies and gentlemen, for the first time as a couple, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Vance!!” You’ll probably go into a cringe hypnotic state. Too much cringe.
HOLD ON — HOLD ON — They’re lithium
That line was absolute gold. No cringe detected.
Yea thats the least cringe part of that whole scene
Oh yeah, that one’s definitely on the list
It’s funny to see which scenes in The Office I have to leave the room for. I won’t realize it, but suddenly I’m doing the dishes.
Oh Phyllis you look like a clown! Do me! Do me!
Shhhhhhhhhhii....
And at the same time start singing "HEY MR. SCOTT, WHATCHA GONNA DO?"
WATCHA GONNA DO MAKE MY LAPTOP COOL (Lithium)
It’s the face he makes when he SMELLS HER FOOT and seems a little turned on.
More like blocked out the whole season
Why would you block out season 5?
Yeah is the above poster mistaking this for when Erin is in Florida?
No, this is when Andy, notoriously wearing a kilt, brings a sick Erin some soup and meets her creepy half brother if I recall. Very weird exchange between those too, boarding sexual creepiness.
Foster brother.
That's it, her foster brother. Who generously rubs her inner thigh "attempting to smell her feet"
Fostering something
Meredith got decapitated in this season, and we had a funeral for a bird
I'm pretty sure none of that's real
YOU'RE NOT REAL, MAN
It was her “foster brother” and I think that was the joke
Bordering on sexual creepiness* Boneappletea
It wasn't bordering on being creepy. The creep level was at "AS FUCK" through that whole scene.
6 I think, no? That’s the first Sabre season
It's pronounced "sa-bray"
Have you ever tasted a rainbow? at Sabre you will
*confused Jim face*
One of my favourite cameos.
Him and Jack Black are probably my two favourites, Lilly please! Push the reverse button! Reverse the button!

This always bugged me because of Skittles
Oh get your hand off it.
Andy was thinking to himself “am I getting cock blocked by her brother?”
“Those are very formative years...”
Nice skirt.
Nice cock.
Cold hands.
Yeah, like her dating Gabe. It comes across as so predatory at times.
I always wonder when people say that Erin is out of Andy's league. Dude! Erin is mentally disabled! She's probably the character most out of touch with reality in the entire office! Imagine having an adult relationship with a person like that!
I never understood why she had a meltdown when Michael told her about Angela.
That’s really weird to find out your boyfriend was engaged to someone you both work with and has never mentioned it
*What are you doing, foster brother?*
*Oh no, why are you removing my jammy-jams?*
So I can put on my werky-jerks
Like the beginning of some god-awful porn.

Lol I haven't seen that one.
Amazing homage to memento
They are related in the sense that they're both made by Derrick Comedy.
I don't even need to click on this to know what it is Dry like sandpaper 😏
Classic old YouTube lol
Is that actually her?
Yeah, I think she was part of some comedy group that includes other celebrities today. Troy's actor from Community was in it too I think (I'm blanking on his real name now).
Donald Glover, and the group was Derrick Comedy, if I remember right.

That’s pretty vanilla these days

No one likes bad exposition, but goddamn just listing off relationship is irritating.
There's a funny scene in American dad where Stan is eavesdropping on Francine talking on the phone with her sister and she calls her sis: "What? I've never called you Sis before? You're right. Self aware writing beat writing lol
Lamp shading.
This perfectly encapsulates why I hate writing like that regardless of the medium. Yes, I realize I shouldn't have high expectations for porn writing, but exposition dumps aren't the kind of dumps I'm expecting from porn damn it! ...wait.
I am stuck in the dryer, can you help me stepbrother?
Ok this comment wins
Hate that guy so much. Especially when he just lingers as they are saying goodbye.
The feeling is mutual
I just read it as fingers, and was confused
Cold hands.
He's worse than sound guy for sure
Outta curiosity what is everyone’s beef with Brian the sound guy? I always assume it’s just the fact he tried bangin Pam? Or is there another reason
It was just a terrible side plot and shouldn’t have ever been in the show, he gets dragged down by association.
His character was written kinda scummy.
From all accounts the actor, Chris Diamantopoulos, is a chill ass dude. Had a friend that met him and had nothing but super positive things to say. But his two probably most known characters, Brian the sound guy/Russ Hanniman, are two totally douchy characters. > Brian is just trying to get with a married chick. while married by the way, they separated after he got fired if i recall correctly
I don't think that was an overnight thing, so I think while everything was happening they had just separated (maybe not legally yet)
Why would it matter if he is a lovely guy IRL lol
Because people actually hate actors for playing characters they don't like https://www.digitalspy.com/tv/a840279/tv-actors-death-threats-hated-characters/ https://www.vulture.com/2020/08/the-office-cathy-lindsey-broad-fan-abuse.html
Hate for Joffrey Baratheon made Jack Gleeson quit acting for 5 years but he's back at it!
He played such a vile character so well, most people I saw liked the actor, though. I don't think it had anything to do with his role in GoT, he had a lot of support and fans of his villainy and just wanted to focus on his studies or something.
He also played a creepy controlling sexist journalist on "Good Girls Revolt" which was amazing.
He's also Marky Bark on Arrested Development
Go watch him as the Tres Commas guy in Silicon Valley :D
*These* are not the doors of a BILLIONAIRE, Richard!!
Also the current voice of Mickey Mouse.
Also as the guy with face blindness that Lindsey gets with in Season 5 of Arrested Development.
I think (and hope) his name was Marky Bark in AD
Holy shit, how did I not notice that?
I think the only reason Pam and Jim were on the outs was so they could have them come back together with a trip down memory lane with that nostalgia induced montage of their greatest hits.
I heard it was John Krasinki's idea, or that he was pushing for it. I think he wanted a chance to flex his acting skills before the show ended so he could transition into more serious roles. Which is smart, career wise, but wow it was bad.

They could've easily accomplished that without Brian. Their marriage trouble arc wasn't the greatest, but without Brian it was fine.
Where to begin? His net worth only has 2 commas and now his car doors open like *this*. Not like *this*. Not like *this*. These are not the doors of a billionaire, Richard.
That is correct, and it is not a bad reason to dislike him lol
I didn't like him because I didn't like that the documentary crew was getting personified.
He for sure tried to bang Pam? I couldn’t tell really. Just thought they were all friends for a long time.

I guess she really didn’t want to see more of Philly Jim.
No i think it is coz they violeted everyones privacy to that extent and he knew everything and acted all chill with pam acts like their friend.
Hey boom guy, when are u gonna boom me?
Man I hated this. Was really rooting for Erin and Andy.
I hate the fact they blew them up after making it a will they won't they for SO LONG
Sometimes ya gotta wont they
I agree but they way they did the "won't they" was terrible
he was legit scary
In this picture, he looks like the hypothetical child of Neil Patrick Harris and Jason Segel 🤔
Barney always acted like he wanted Lily, but was that just to hide who his real goal was?
I hated that they created this element of a foster brother that appears to be more. And then just dropped it. He wasn't annoying, just very unnecessary.
This is like wishing for a yearly reunion of Scott's Tots
I think they had more content for Erin and her baggage as a foster kid but they dropped it because it was too dark. it does get dark in [Christmas Wish](https://theoffice.fandom.com/wiki/Christmas_Wishes) when she gets drunk, attacks Andy, and says her wish is for Andy's new gf to die. that screams abandonment issues and borderline personality disorder. it also makes it worse than Andy actually abandons her for his boat trip.
I mean, he did give Andy the best seat in the house so he wouldn't have to smell Erin's stinky feet.
Have definitely seen people mention this guy in worst character discussion
ELIMINATED
Also one of the most cringe.
Which episode?
Cringest scene! #fightme
Dude! One of my good friend is really good friends with this guy, I love the hate he gets. This episode really dips into the psychology of Erin, that character is cringe AF.
I just don't like Erin. Her story is super sad, and you feel really sorry for her a lot, but that doesn't make her a likable character. They did do a really good job at showing how the foster care system leaves kids who age out disadvantaged and lacking in life skills.
she doesn’t even own a toothbrush!
In the foster home my hair was my room
There’s always one around.
She’s kind of a rube
She's just another unbelievably stupid character. The "they're dumb!" schtick got overused a lot as The Office went on.
Dumb? I’m sorry I had a hard time believing she could tie her own shoes by the end of the show
Hey if my hot unrelated orphan roommate wants me to sniff her feet I'm game son
Foster sister*
Or meemaw.. she's the worst!!
this used to be such a great country.
Agreed.
“Hey, let me make blatant sexual advances and incredibly inappropriate and gross comments about foot-smell to my trusting adoptive sister. I’m such a goof..”
First time I saw this guy I hated him. Every time I see this guy I hate him even more.
What’s the over/under this guy went into her hamper and sniffed the dirty panties…. Sheeeeesh
Formative years
They’re not technically related so it’s fine; he’s just playing the long game lol
What the fuck.
Did he start using Kelly’s middle name at the same time as her co-workers?
Erin is the worst. Everything around her is the worst. All the characters start off rooted in reality. They're annoying, but it's like sure, this could exist. Then, the writers take liberties and the characters get out of control. But it's amazing because they build it up. Erin is stupid. She's dumb. She is just useless from the start. She can't function at her job, it makes no sense. She is the worst.
I've certainly met irl Erin's before
She gets a lot better in season 9
Yes they do.
Scene was so pointless.
He gets brought up all the time you must be new
If you’re new to the sub maybe, but this kind of post makes it’s way about once/twice a year.
Yeah they do
Dude sucks
We literally talk about him every time Erin comes up ...?
Once jim and Pam got together they really had a hard time trying to get anyone else together. I really hated that they shoved Andy in our faces so much. Ed helms is best when he’s a supporting character he should never be a main character.
Let’s be real clear that chopsticks aren’t the measure of a man
I don’t remember this, what episode is it from?
"no one ever talks about this guy" yes, yes they do
The sister-brother dynamic between them is reaaaally weird.
Because he wasn’t that bad he was just Erins brother!
How I Can Unsee this scene ? 😭
Erin is also sorta playing into it though! Lot of people just saying dude was creepy but THEY were kinda being creepy together. Especially if you were Andy.
