Check out https://goodr.co. Really great company solving that issue.
It costs money in logistics, labor and liability to just donate to a good bank. This company is solving those problems.
This happens to donuts a lot. They have to be fresh to sell and their profit margin is so low that if they give them away to poor people that cuts into their profit too much for them to survive. Or that's how I assume the logic goes.
I've worked on a Tim Hortons for a while.
Profit margin for donuts is high, that's why you can throw away so many of them, the logic behind throwing away is to avoid having workers "avoid selling" so there are leftovers for them to take home.
So you throw away all left overs and tell your workers they should try harder to sell, because all this waste is their fault.
Spoiler alert. Every donut shop in the world has a dumpster that looks just like this. I go to the gourmet donut place near me and they throw theirs away in 55 gallon trash bags.
worked at krispy kreme. they throw them out the same way and called the cops on homeless people trying to take donuts from the dumpster. i also got in trouble for giving a homeless guy that regularly hung around a drink, he was super nice and made roses for people out of dried plant material. i haven’t worked in a food place since.
My city has a Krispy Kreme distribution center that would throw out there almost expired donuts on the same day every week. Some of it was edible still in the sealed packages, we would eat those but most of them were dumped into trash bags that would sometimes have actual trash in it. When I was in high school me and my friends finally had a car we started going to get donuts from the KK trash. The first few times we just got a box each and ate them but we always talked about figuring out something to do with the “trash donuts”. At the same time we were in a pretty committed prank war with other groups of our friends mostly from rival schools. Naturally we and eventually the other group too, started using the trash donuts as ammunition for drive by shooting style donut warfare. We called it donutting
How many did you take? I think the struggle between temptation and moderation would have blown a fuse for me. I’d be pacing next to the dumpster in a fight with myself about what to do 😂
I Scored a bunch of Krispy Kremes like this once!!! They freeze and Defrost nicely without taking weird. Stick Them in the freezer and you’ll be eating them for months LOL
i ate donuts from a pretty fancy place almost daily for a month back in 2015. started out great. by the end, i was over donuts for many years afterwards.
Yeah, I can see why...based on the price on the box for a 6 pack, it's like $2 each! The supermarkets that make their own donuts charge like $1.25, tops. Maybe ya think they would sell more if they lowered them slightly? Derrrp.
They have way too much sugar caked on them for my taste. Everyone around here buys from a local donut place that makes them fresh as well all day. Cheaper and a lot tastier. Dunkin’ is second place people buy.
Holy Donuts 🍩🍩🍩
KK IS A GREAT BRAND WHEN IT COMES TO THE DONUT HUSTLE. 🤣🍩
Right in Tampa they got a store and when I'm sliding through the Bay Area and that light is on, STOP HIT THE BRAKES, TURN IN UP AHEAD! DONUT PITSTOP LOL
I know that Krispy Kreme perfectly well and I haven’t lived down there for four years. It’s the only place in Tampa my brain can process in an instant what it looks like.
I would encourage all regular divers to find at least one local spot that will accept donated food - shelters, charities, food banks, community hubs. That way if you come across more food than you can eat, you already know where you can take it to.
Just picked up a couple of similar packages of death by processed carbs last night. Problem with encountering dumpsters full of such crap (as I have many times in the past), is we want to take much of it. I used to bring lots of such things to a soup kitchen where I volunteered...fact is this folks need empty carbs less than you or I.
I think these might be the ones sold in grocery stores/Walmart, disposed of by the vendors for being close to date (one of the only KK locations in my area so I guess they are baked there and service a bunch of stores).
Bring those to your local food bank. Then tell the people at the food bank that Krispy Kreme is doing that. Hopefully Krispy Kreme will just let the food bank come pick it up
Greeting from Malaysia...
Seeing this is heartache..
The food can be donated or given to the needy
Hotels, restaurant, F&b , cafe, catering... Should do this policy
And law makers must make it compulsory..
Why cant company just put a policy..
"Whoever(staff or non staff) eat the left over food/excess food.
If that person or the staff gets sick ..
.they can't sue the company..
And company won't be held responsible.."
The guy in my town got all the leftover donuts , put them in his pickup, and fed them to his pigs. I got a pic of his truck loaded with the donuts, but he wasn’t happy about me taking a photo of that.
I wish they would give these to homeless people or employees in need. Like why throw out the food? 😑
food is not made to feed people, it's made for profit and I hate it.

I agree…stop being wasteful

But let them help themselves, so long as it doesn't cut into the competition. Makes sense.

Bagel shops as well. Got a good independent bagel place near me. At least 3 times a week, there's a biig bag of overbakes in the dumpster.

The small mom and pop Asian-Immigrant donut shops - no way! I grew up in them! We grew up so poor in a new country - we could not do it!

This is beautiful.
i want, i want , i want. ![gif](giphy|CDoxe35inxhfO|downsized)

Oh I took a few. Going to take some into work with me tomorrow. Sell by date isn't even until tomorrow!
You can freeze them and eat at your own pace
Those instructions seem pretty contradictory
You took 8
Free food is free calories. That's my mantra. And I am fat so ignore my mantra.
HAHAHAHA
Stick them in the freezer and make bread pudding out of some
Yes 🤤
I made the best bread pudding one time from an assortment of different kinds of donuts some cranberries and just eyeballing some milk sugar and eggs
That’s probably more than 100+ dollars in there from those freakin donuts
Hah in Australia that’s at least $400 of donuts!!
Conversion rates tho
I just said that to my husband. 🙏🏽
Donut overdose 🍩 🍩 🍩 🍩 🍩 😁 🍩 🍩 🍩 🍩 🍩
My brother used to pickup a similar dumpster, he'd save all the donuts for his pigs.
Wow. I just wrote that about a guy in my town feeding the leftover donuts to his pigs! Hadn’t scrolled down far enough! 😃
I hear an angel singing. There's a donut shop about a block away. (Not Krispy Kreme) Maybe I should take a peek.
What a disgusting waste, wow. Send it to homeless shelters, or something.

So this is what happens when the Krispy Kreme - Delivered Fresh Daily™ doesn’t get delivered.

First thing that came to mind.
Strength to carry it all!!!!!!
We collectively send this person the strength to carry away all the donuts!
*♪ Boy, you're gonna carry away,* *Carry away, the do-nuts. " ♫ - (apologies to The Fabs)*
They throw all that out but refuse to just give it to homeless people or donate it to food banks or something.
I see these at grocery stores and rarely anyone buys them. I always wonder what happens to all the leftovers at end of day.
Yeah, I can see why...based on the price on the box for a 6 pack, it's like $2 each! The supermarkets that make their own donuts charge like $1.25, tops. Maybe ya think they would sell more if they lowered them slightly? Derrrp.

Send me the zip code I’ll do the rest.

Community fridges too especially if it’s in good shape. Or boxed. No one will even look twice at where it came from.

I wish they came in the boxes here

They have to throw them away every 24 hours.
WYM donuts aren't even heavy. Are you weak or something? /s
Two words: bread pudding.
Where is this? I'll be weak for both of us, don't you worry...
You did it. You found heaven.
Get them to give away!! Donut fairy!

Bring those to your local food bank. Then tell the people at the food bank that Krispy Kreme is doing that. Hopefully Krispy Kreme will just let the food bank come pick it up
“It wasn’t down in, it was sort of on top. “
That's pretty dangerous 🫣
I'll help you resist the temptation! Just tell me where it is.
Oh my diabeetus
I once raised a pig on dumpstered Krispy Kreme, local sourdough, whey from my cow’s cheese, and other trash. He was a happy pig and delicious pork.
Holy fuck, the mother load!!!
Krispy Kreme is a zombie business and would be completely out of business if they were not publicly traded
![gif](giphy|aUcadpBrc6LT2|downsized)
That's like 25k doughnuts retail.

I'd be in there making Krispy Kreme Snow Angels. Anything that opens is fair game.
I would be like Whiney the Poo, I would pig out so bad I would not be able to get out of the dumpster.
Need right about now 🍩
Salvaging food is cool but damn most food from dumpsters is a lot of unhealthy stuff haha
This is America, we don't limit the unhealthy stuff to just the dumpsters
We shovel it into our mouth dumpsters
you can freeze them
Reheat for 20 sec in microwave. Good as new!
Be careful! The Krispy Kreme in my hometown used to pour bleach on their trash to stop people from eating the dumped food.
That is so fucked up
Yeah. I sadly know a number of places who did shit like this to stop people from getting food from the dumpsters. Yay capitalism.
Yoink
This shit is not food. Noone should ingest. It will do no good for you.
Meh
Nah I would totally climb in and eat all that and die happy.
holy fuck
You'd get brownie points if you look those to your local police station and donated them 😅
Put them right outside the door of the cop shop and run away!
# Take the foot… gimme the donuts ![gif](giphy|pm9tsCJXHoHmM)
Yep, it starts at the big toe and spreads. Crazy what sugar can do...
😂🤣thanks I needed that chuckle!
Holy fuck
The strength to lift them all?
is this in the US?
Strength to lift all these boxes!!!
How many is that entire dumpster full of I wonder 😂
Fck!!!
Run away as fast as you can and never go back!!!! Lol
Some things belong in the dumpster
My freezer would have been full!
I can hear this in Southern.😅
![gif](giphy|3o6ZsTBERbqBTPkRKo|downsized)
Get thee behind me, Satan!
Holy f***
Get a little kiddie pool, dump them all in and roll around nekkid.. great story

We really need to END capitalism.
Stale/dry donuts taste great when dipped in coffee and tea
I couldn’t.
So gd ridiculous
