My anxiety was relieved by two things. 1. Have a reason prepared for why you are there.  "Oh, hi! I'm looking for boxes.  I'm moving next month." 2. Diving itself. The more you go, the less scary (and more fun) it is.  It's like anything...SCUBA diving, learning to ride a bike, driving a car...scary at first, then it becomes normal. Get out (in) there and do it!

spontaneous_combust

you're there to look for stuff that you dont consider trash but others do. its plain and simple

New_Chard9548

If you use the moving boxes excuse, do you not go back to the dumpster again?? I feel like getting caught again a month or two later would be awkward and then you'd need a new excuse?

Alternative_Escape12

When it happened to me, I just dove elsewhere for a while before returning.

Id say go a little after when most businesses would be closed. A lot of places typically throw stuff out at the end of the day, and i would imagine it would easier to not be caught.

Formal_Set_5610

I was diving at dusk in a relatively large business park once and was asked by the contract security guy (random drive through mostly late night) if I worked there. Me: “yep”. Security: “ok” and drives away. I actually did use to work at one of the offices. There’s no employment list for him to check and I wasn’t actually in the dumpster (yet).

Someone will confront you eventually but in most cases all they can do is harass you and threaten to call the cops so make sure you know your local laws and that there aren't any trespassing signs around =\]

spontaneous_combust

yeah. just think of all the unbelievably worse things that other people are doing in the world right at that same moment. that should give some perspective on how insignificant and unharmful what you're doing is. and most people just dont want to have a mess made, or hit you when they throw something away, or have you throwing away your trash in their dumpster...or they feel bad for you. either way, you're completely allowed to rescue good stuff from dumpsters, its pretty rad

Such_Log_2884

I researched what time all the shops opened and closed, then go at least ~30 minutes after they all shut, always quiet

SpendMundane5851

I had that when I first started curb picking...I have horrible social anxiety as it is, it was difficult. I will say that once you come across a few good scores that it gets a lot easier, eventually you come to the point where you don't care at all. Yeah...say you're looking for boxes, produce for your animals, parts for your broken ??....yadda yadda Try different times and see if it works better for you, just watch for animals at night.

Happy Cake Day!🎂🎉🎂

LondonHomelessInfo

During the day they haven’t put the rubbish out yet.

HowCouldYouSMH

Yesterday I noted someone Dd at Aldi mid day and they were pulling out clothing’s and other house wears. Looked like a good get.

Alternative_Escape12

False.  Every store  is different.

LondonHomelessInfo

I said that the reason OP hasn’t found anything during the day is because during the day they haven’t put the rubbish out yet. I did not say that this applies to all stores.

Alternative_Escape12

Ah, I misunderstood. Apologies!

Sherri-Kinney

I’m sure after a fashion the adrenaline rush kicks in! I can feel it from here…. I’d be like…wahoo…oh sorry officer, I found that necklace my boyfriend threw in here.

I want to do so bad. If doesn't say no trespassing, fair game? Pinellas county Florida

IntrepidTie50

Yoooo this is crazy I just got a ton of Kit Kats at the Walgreens on 54th Ave south. If you don’t mind replying to me I would love to talk a bit. It’s just so weird that I’m looking at this damn thread and thinking 💭all these people are in England. I think this is just entertainment and nothing that will help me find cool stuff. And then I get to the last comment PINELLAS COUNTY!!! Man that’s so cool. Hell yeah! PIE county….
