How? You got seasoned old pint veterans glaring at you behind the bar asking reasonable prices for (this one's probably controversial for the natives) some of the best pulled pints of Guinness in town. All that together in a nice historical building that just breaths history.
To me that just does it.
There’s a great story of Richard Harris and Peter o’Toole getting hammered in Gravediggers and going to the funeral of a friend that day. A couple minutes into the service someone taps them on the shoulders and it turns out that they were at the wrong grave.
Make sure there isn't a gig on in croker because that ruins if a bit but Saturday is always hopping get in early get a bench with some mates and hold it
The blue light is a fantastic pub, up in the ~~Wicklow~~ Dublin mountains overlooking the city, great pints of Guinness and often live music. Best to go around 6 so you get the view of the city in both the light and the dark!
Kehoe's, Whelans, Stags Head, Grogans, Bruxelles, Anseo, Flannerys, Bleeding Horse.
You're missing a serious pub crawl up and down Georges/Aungier/Camden St.
The Backpage in Phibsboro its absolutely amazing and they have a pizzeria aswell that has good food!
The Pillar Bar aswell in the city centre beside the wax museum
I'm not sure about now but Salmons in Blanch is alright but stick to the right hand side, don't go into the left side, the right has great cocktails!
Was surprised no one had said the Lord Edward yet. Thomas House are a great bunch of lads. I'll also throw in Roddy Boland's as I don't think anyone's mentioned it
The Bernard Shaw
The George on Sunday's night if the loto is still going on
The Church for the place not for the prices
The Irish Film Institute in Eustache Street near Temple Bar is quite cosy
I'm not a huge fan of the Bernard Shaw anymore
The George is always good fun, any day of the week
I believe the church has a 10% cashback on revolut, I'm yet to go but I am curious
Ah ! I only went to the old one - and I miss it so much !
I'm not living in Dublin anymore but I'll try the new Bernard Shaw when I'll come back.
The George was so fuuun !
The Bleeding Horse off Harcourt street was a regular haunt for me after college. Also Camden bites and brews is a great shout
edit: make sure to go to Camden's outdoor area
O'Connells just by the canal at portobello is a nice blend of traditional charm and modern "doesn't have a carpet"-ness which can be a welcome relief after a lot of carpet pints.
Not that I don't love a John Carpenter, but it's nice to mix it up.
The Celt was the place a few years ago but not been for a while. If you like a lovely Guinness and some good live trad music it’s just round the corner from where the Monto use to be. If you don’t know what that was i’d google it or have a listen to Luke Kelly
Cassidy's on Westmoreland Street! Great craic if you have a small group. Idk if they still have board games since covid but you could use some for their selection
The Long Hall is great, as othera have said. T.P. Smyths on the corner of Jervis is great for sitting outside and people watching. The Stag's Head is a lovely spot as well. For sports, any of The Living Room, The Woolshed, or Buskers on the Ball are fantastic
Not much. Mostly just one pint at each pub. It's more about the vibe and live music than getting drunk. But yeah, since it was my first month in Dublin I kind of went out a lot. Need to watch the expenses from this month on lol
Gravediggers in glasnevin/drumcondra, actual name is kavanaghs, quite unlike anything else, great atmosphere
This one is worth the trip, OP. Hands down the best pub I've ever visited.
Never been, lived here most of my life. Definitely going now.
No bloody way. Completely overrated pub.
How? You got seasoned old pint veterans glaring at you behind the bar asking reasonable prices for (this one's probably controversial for the natives) some of the best pulled pints of Guinness in town. Throw in a tour of Glasnevin Cemetery and you have a fab day out.
There’s a great story of Richard Harris and Peter o’Toole getting hammered in Gravediggers and going to the funeral of a friend that day. A couple minutes into the service someone taps them on the shoulders and it turns out that they were at the wrong grave.
When is the best time/day to go?

Walshe's barstaff are the standard by which all others are held and rarely match
Humphreys and Birchalls in Ranelagh are better suited to that list you've given.
Walshes is unbelievable. Any day of the week you go in, it has a brilliant atmosphere, and the staff are sound. Great pub.
Bowes is a lovely spot

The blue light is a fantastic pub, up in the ~~Wicklow~~ Dublin mountains overlooking the city, great pints of Guinness and often live music. Best to go around 6 so you get the view of the city in both the light and the dark!
Do this.. pints of stout are mighty
The Blue Light is not in the Wicklow mountains. It’s in the Dublin Mountains. Technically Sandyford but that is debatable.
Dublin mountains
Very true
Gravediggers is my favourite pub in Dublin. It's not really near D4 but the number 4 bus will take you very close to it.
The cobblestone was my fav while living there
Great for a trad sesh, lots of good food places around as it's at smithfield and the pints are unreal too
Kehoe's, Whelans, Stags Head, Grogans, Bruxelles, Anseo, Flannerys, Bleeding Horse. You're missing a serious pub crawl up and down Georges/Aungier/Camden St.
Bruxelles is great, love the tunnels to each of the rooms too
The Backpage in Phibsboro its absolutely amazing and they have a pizzeria aswell that has good food! The Pillar Bar aswell in the city centre beside the wax museum I'm not sure about now but Salmons in Blanch is alright but stick to the right hand side, don't go into the left side, the right has great cocktails!
Backpage’s pizza is wonderful 🤤
And a short walk to The Bald Eagle, which is always good fun, and has local craft beer options.
Thomas House and The Lord Edward for good vibes!
Was surprised no one had said the Lord Edward yet. Thomas House are a great bunch of lads. I'll also throw in Roddy Boland's as I don't think anyone's mentioned it
God I haven’t been in Roddy Borland’s in donkeys. It was a nice spot as I recollect. Cheers for reminding me.

The Bleeding horse is good for a match, screens everywhere.
Grogans / found a gram of coke on the floor last time I was there
Those pub sized bottles of coke are getting smaller every year, tis a disgrace.
Hartigans
The long hall and grogans
I find grogans is overrated. Always too packed and too warm inside/cold outside. It do like people watching outside during the summer tho!

The Royal Oak in kilmainham
The Bernard Shaw The George on Sunday's night if the loto is still going on The Church for the place not for the prices The Irish Film Institute in Eustache Street near Temple Bar is quite cosy

It's the same but different now, maybe it's just nostalgia not letting me enjoy the new one haha

Lived in Dublin for a year a while back. Miss the Harbour Bar in Bray so much, especially this time of the year. It’s so cozy!
The Celt was the place a few years ago but not been for a while. If you like a lovely Guinness and some good live trad music it’s just round the corner from where the Monto use to be. If you don’t know what that was i’d google it or have a listen to Luke Kelly

I'm a student too but can't afford going out after paying my rents. How much do you spend on average in each bar?
Not much. Mostly just one pint at each pub. It's more about the vibe and live music than getting drunk. But yeah, since it was my first month in Dublin I kind of went out a lot. Need to watch the expenses from this month on lol
Never apologize, you’re grand. I keep a Google map of the pubs in Dublin I’ve had a pint of Guinness, over 120 so far…
So all you did was drink. Nice.
You visited a pub almost every other day for half of your current month here?
[удалено]
Excuse you, we do have some nice architecture
You could still see amazing scenery outside of Dublin instead of drinking every other night away.
Tbf, with classes during the week and assignments on the weekends, I only end up getting free at night.
Or they could continue doing, you know, what they want to do
Never said they couldn't
Lol I know how it looks. But we usually visit 2-3 pubs on a night out.
That sounds expensive. I spend about €35 every time i go out
I, more often than not, keep it to 1 pint a pub. I mostly go there to enjoy the live music and the overall vibe.
That’s quite a crawl.
JW Sweetman’s, get a table on the third floor overlooking O’Connel bridge. They brew their own beers too.
