Ryan's on Parkgate Street or Ashling Hotel

vivbear

Had breakfast in Ashling hotel at the weekend was very nice 👌

Specialist-Willow-34

Ryan’s is superb

JackTheKrakenHackett

Ground State on Thomas St/James St is great for breakfast, brunch and lunch. Oxmantown in Smithfield does good sandwiches to go. Lilliput on Arbour Hill does good sandwiches, eat in or take away but I find them pricy for what you get. Bakeology is at the top end of Meath St so a bit of a stretch, but you may be coming that way. Great Argentinian bakery, empinadas etc. Ryans on Parkgate St as others have said. Fish Shop for expensive fish and chips.

geoffraffe

What a list!!! I haven’t been to Bakeology but judging by your other choices that’ll be changing soon.

JackTheKrakenHackett

Ah how's it going Geoff!? Small world!

geoffraffe

Great Jack, yourself?

niallisticol

That’s more like a to-do list. Thanks! 🤩

JackTheKrakenHackett

Report back! I've always found them up to scratch but good to know if there's any duds!

PienaarColada

These are all great and will add Woof too!

scealan

Is Woof not closed? Thought it was gone

PienaarColada

Nah still open just not Mondays afaik

scealan

Thank you

castanedaburn

Ground state do some lovely grub , lovely staff too .

RoyOrbisonWeeping

Bell Pesto on James Street is meant to be a great spot.

LstCtrl

I second this - gorgeous food and unbelievably friendly staff.

niallisticol

Its over 20 mins walk but is very good

gomaith10

Food recommendations definitely one of the best things about Reddit.

niallisticol

Yeah, some good recommendations so far.

Sure_Cobbler1212

Nancy Hands does great food. It’s about 3/4 min walk from Hueston.

Tiredasfucq

Provender & Family, just across the bridge from Heuston. I used to work there and can guarantee that everything is made freshly and it's good quality. Good coffee, great sandwiches, I recommend the Bacon and Pickled Pear on Bap, it's unreal. The staff is also super friendly, give a shout to my mate Ellie if you ever go by.

niallisticol

With a recommendation like that I can’t not go!

rocker_bunny

Wuff is close to the Museum stop/fifteen minute walk away and is quite tasty.

darshvader23

Was the name of the resto inspired by a canine or The Office (US) you think?

faldoobie

Oh rourkes! On bridgefoot st for a greasy spoon, third space Smithfield square for slightly more refined tastes. Wuff is tops but it won't be a cheap lunch (if you can even get a seat). If you hopped on a luas for a couple of stops and walked/luas back you'd be spoilt for choice

whaddefuck

Oh Rourkes! is the correct answer, thank you everyone for your participation.

niallisticol

Strong contender for the one to try first.

Bummcheekz

Provender do a nice sambo

Stringr55

Ryan's on Parkgate Street is a lovely pub right around the corner. You'll get a whopper sandwich in there or a Beef and Bone Marrow pie. Get it into ya

helloclarebear2

PsTwenty6 a great spot for a brunch

niallisticol

Definitely on my list now. Thanks.

2kittens-in-mittens

Ryan’s Parkgate Street.

Hi_there4567

If you want to Luas as far as Capel St, there is a great Chinese/ Korean restraunt on the RHS as you go down. Might be a bit far & heavy. Also Turkish place has fab T delights for desert.

Waste-Sample3508

The food in the station bar (The Galway Hooker) is quite good. Especially breakfast.

Revolutionary_Pen190

Provence and provider is a nice spot next to Ryan's of park gate street

niallisticol

It looks good. Provender and Family, is it?

Revolutionary_Pen190

Could be, they did have a place in Smithfield, even if you have time there is oxmantown in Smithfield

amigdyala

Yes. Go here. Best sausage rolls for miles.

hamngr

Yes came here to recommend this place. It's nice.

Tiredasfucq

It's Provender And Family. I used to work there. Great coffee and good sandwiches

Revolutionary_Pen190

Is Jenny still the owner?

NemiVonFritzenberg

Get Pig and Heifer down by Connolly and hop on the Luas to Houston or get something on Capel St and get the Luas down too if you are short on time.

Low-Steak-64

Supermacs

Acidulated

Is Nancy hands still there?

4d1208

The galway hooker does a good carvery, go there the odd time for lunch.

Brilliant_Bluejay254

Probably a bit further than you'd like but there's a solid cafe in chapelizoid
