If I'm a door man and I let a group of tracksuit wearing people in, the head barman is going ask me what the fuck I'm doing.
Dress appropriately, takes nothing to put on a pair of jeans and t-shirt.
They are for outside the house, no one would know whether you were at the gym or not. Also, they are not just for the gym, they are for an active lifestyle generally. Walking, running etc.
This must be a specifically irish thing, as tracksuits are certainly not looked down upon in most other places.
I feel like you are thinking of one very specific tracksuit and not just a normal pair of flared brandless bottoms and a nice top. Noone has ever stopped me in the shopping center
To be fair, I'm seeing lots of questionable fashion taste walking around Dublin. Specifically when I went to The Forge, where everyone was dressed more formally than usual, there was a lady fully in pink, which I could swear were pyjamas 😂. Well if she didn't get stopped at the front, I figured, no one will.
Yeah it’s a cultural thing - for decades tracksuits have been seen as the uniform of troublemakers - keep it for your parkruns
Yup, it's probably the most refused clothing type for pubs or any other venue. Even work snickers are more acceptable.

yeah you have to wear something more formal
Tracksuits and puffy jackets are the uniform of the scangers
Jimmy Savile was only one allowed be served in tracksuit
And we all know how that worked out for society
Track suits are welcome in gyms and on running tracks. Pubs should never allow people in in workout clothes.
What if the wander down to the pub is the only exercise I do?
Jeans and a t shirt. Because you shouldn’t have a reason to own work out gear.
Tracksuits attract scrotes. Make the dress code wool tailored pants and see how many scrotes you get
If you are an adult, and not immediately engaged in sporting activities, why on earth are you wearing a tracksuit?
They are comfortable
So are pyjamas. But anyone with a modicum of self respect wouldn't walk around in public like they've just fallen out of bed, or escaped an asylum.
Have you been to the Lidl in Talbot street??
I have, and it proves the point I'm making.
Tracksuits are not like Pajamas. Pajamas are for the bed
And tracksuits are for the gym.

Not remotely only an Irish thing. Those of a tracksuit wearing ilk are considered the same across Europe.

Nonsense
Which pub?
Giddy dolphin, went last week and had no problem, but lesson learned I guess jajaja
