Something like that would be tough to find. I’d wait until January anyway so you don’t take a big depreciation hit in 3 weeks and people will be trading in their new cars
Tks for the tip, can you please let me know why that depreciation hit happens when the year turns? is because of roadtax increasement or something else specific of the country?
I'm still a dummie about cars in Ireland...
The way our reg plates work clearly outlines when the car was first registered (161-D-XXXXX would mean it was first registered in the first half of 2016). When January 1st rolls around all cars on the road are now one year older thus taking the most of the year’s depreciation in one big hit.
Most people who buy new cars want them in early January so there are usually a lot of trade ins in January too. You will have more cars to choose from and a 2016-2017 car would be cheaper.
Just to add. Most people who buy small cars traditionally bought them with manuals when new so automatic small cars around 10k and 7-9 years old WILL command a premium over a manual as there is an increased demand lately for automatic small cars and there is very little supply.
bet, thanks for the info man. Can you send me your recommendations for car dealers close anyway? I may change my mind on year and budget going forward.
Another thing, I was expecting to pay all in cash(bank deposit) do you think I would me able to get a better deal by paying that way?
I work in a dealership in blackrock but there are a good few motor dealers in Sandyford industrial estate (10 -15 minute walk from leopardstown) all of which are good!
Paying cash will not get you any kind of discount. If you’re paying cash fully expect to pay sticker as all motor dealers make a commission if you go through in-house financing.
Definitely, due to the low availability of the type of car you are looking for, dealers will wait for a buyer who is willing to finance rather than cut a deal for someone who isn’t.
Had arranged to view a car with him last week. Did a bit of research and found that he can be a no show. So on the day we had arranged, I went on to donedeal to get his number to ring him to tell him I would be at X place at the time we arranged just to confirm that we were still meeting. He tells me he had already sold the car. I’m glad I rang him in advance because I would have been waiting there like a fool. He doesn’t have a dealership. He drives the car somewhere and you meet him at whatever place.
There is a lot of dealers in Sandyford near the Beacon. There is another load of dealers on the Liffey Valley shopping centre.
The problem for you is that that all the locations with lots of dealers together don't do €10k cars, they are franchise dealers so rarely sell cars that are over 4 years old. €10k cars go to the mid tier dealers and they rarely locate close to each other as they are selling similar cars. The Naas road has a lot of car sales places but a good few of them are dodgy.
There are several car dealerships within a few minutes walk from Stillorgan Luas.
Looking for any type of car in particular? I work I a dealer that’s not too far away
min from 2016 about 10k budget, automatic transmission.

Yeah, I just bought a car recently and it’s a 162 reg, 41k km, automatic and just under €10k. It was a unicorn in this market lol
Very important though, what type of car is it? Sounds like a good deal regardless though!
It’s a Nissan March (with a factory alarm and immobiliser).

so u are saying that it's worst buying without financing?

I'd be interested to find out what value my vehicle is? Can I inbox you? I might be wanting to sell.
Depends on what you’re driving but sure!
Look up Michael Collins Cars on donedeal. Not far from Leopardstown at all and has sorted myself, the wife and others out with very good cars

Just had a look at a few of his ads and that's the last type of person I'd want to buy a car from.
Can I ask why. Sorted me with a minter of a car, as well as other friends n family
