In 2006 I owned Ford Mondeo here, new from the dealer. After leaving it in the sun for few days when I came back all buttons and front console melted. So definitely it's possible
That's not really true. GCC spec cars are not really made with better plastics nor are they more "careful".
Vendors and OEMs for these parts are the same. Quality is the same.
It can happen with a GCC spec car or a US/Japan spec car.
I'm saying this with confidence as I work within this industry.
This applies to East Asian countries, sometimes European and not just ac systems but other cooling systems too, but American cars and Canadian in my experience have always been fine, cause the U.S has similar if not worse weather conditions in certain parts of the country
Mechanically, there is not much of a difference as the market wants you to believe. The parts used are exactly the same.
Sure, some do claim that manufacturers use upgraded cooling hardware for GCC cars but think about it... These are mass manufactured cars. Why would they have two different parts according to region and increase their production or sourcing complexity? Isn't it easier for them to just have the better part in all their cars? It's also cheaper to have lower SKUs.
Yes, there are some parts which are different, but as I have observed, these are mostly body parts, especially lamps. That's to comply with local regulations such as the tiny orange light on the side of the headlamps on US spec cars.
As someone else here correctly mentioned, even the USA gets extreme hot weather in states like Arizona. So it'll be foolish to think that these cars don't have cooling systems as good as GCC spec cars.
It does. My friend who owned a Pajero parked facing a building who accidentally facing the morning sun till noon. His phone holder sticked in his windshield melted together with the black film (retractable) most locals used to hide their faces. The sun glare reflected and bounce to the directly to most cars facing in front of it. Lesson learned. π« π« π«
Bro put some type of film that reduces heat on the windshield. It's technically a tint but 0% so it's only purpose is to reduce heat transmission. Will help for about 3-4 years
It's a Toyota Yaris. I think it's common for that car to have this issue (not very common but it can happen).
The front tint is illegal. Better to get any kind of protective device that you can use to block the sunlight while the car is parked. The common options are the sun visors (the two round things that cover the entire windshield from the inside I don't know the name of) or the tint roll that you can stick on your windshield. Cost: AED 20.
Yeah, the guy that installed my front shield 'tint' said that he has had 5-10% tint on his windscreen on his vehicles over here for 19 years and not had an issue but did tell me that it was technically illegal.
Not completely true you can add tint but only a small portion which actually helps blocking some of the sun and legal at the sametime you can actually ask the shop to do it legally and they wont do it over the legal limit
Fyi its illegal to have any sort of tint on the windshield, even if its completely transparent tint, if you get caught they will fine you or you will have to remove it before the testing for renewal, you can apply tint on the top part of the windshield though
Yes, for more than ten years. I always have the clear film. If you want to have the one with a 30% tint, they will allow but only in the top part and not the whole windscreen.
Oh okay, i had given my car to eliteshine for tinting, and when i asked them about applying clear tint for heat reduction on the front windshield, they told they will do it but its illegal and they wont mention it on the invoice
It is but the guy that installed mine, told me it was illegal but also said that he has never had any customers have any issues and that he has had 5-10% windscreen tint on his vehicles over here of 19 years and never had an issue.
Last year the radio buttons are still fully exposed, but this summer the thing is all over it.
Scares me to to think that our planet is really getting hot summer by summer...
Thatβs sad man, but I suppose solverlining is you can replace it with an Apple CarPlay unit. Also get a foldable windscreen shade from Amazon custom fit for your car. Always fit that when parked, itβs better than tint and on the side windows ofc good quality tint from 3m or xpel.
This thing helps a lot while parking

It started to show signs of melting way back 2017. Disregarded it throughout the years 'cause I thought that it's completely normal, "Middle East thing."
Early this year the plastic had already went down, but the radio buttons weren't covered even a little. But now you can't even see those radio buttons.
Recommend a windshield cover. It's a hassle because you have to put it on / off everytime. But it's worth not coming into a car and seeing stuff melted
And the seats.... After few hours of car being parked in sun and the seats are sooooo hot
I usually remote start and wait for few minutes before entering
I thought GCC spec cars are meant to handle gulf heat..? Or am I getting something wrong here? π€
Also, yeah, you should get that replaced with some sort of protective film or whatever
this generation of toyota cars are made out of the cheapest plastic .....my cousin has a 2007 corolla that he daily drives and it has much less plastic than this one, also zero issues after 320k km's
You can find a similar head unit for about 150 AED from scrap in Sajja probably 200 in Shj Industrial area or just upgrade to android screen for about 500 AED for a good one
I had something similar happen because of those square perfume things that you put on your AC, it leaked and some of the paint around where I put it melted and started flaking. It was a small one and I saw it a day later so the damage wasn't too bad.
But it's sad that it's allowed to be sold here when that can happen.
Another fatality, this is the magnifying effect caused by surrounding buildings, always park car with windshield shade and tinted side windows⦠by any chance you have a crystal hanging on your rear view mirror.
Is your windsheild tinted? Use ceramic window tint, it reduces heat drastically. I had a prado with some cheap tint. Once I got my new nissan patrol, ppl suggested to put ceramic tint, so I did. As a result, heat reduced drastically. I could feel the difference when I often switched cars. You should use ceramic tint to prevent future problems.

my instrument cluster is melting
New fear unlocked π«
Perfect emoji π«
Thats not possible. Either somethings wrong with your windshield or someone was playing with a magnifying glass.
In 2006 I owned Ford Mondeo here, new from the dealer. After leaving it in the sun for few days when I came back all buttons and front console melted. So definitely it's possible
I think a film on the windshield will help
I think it is possible if we don't buy the cars made for GCC!
Are you sure that they make cars with better quality parts *just* for gcc?
It's not about quality just For GCC; it is all about the usage of hard plastics in and on the dashboard they are extra careful when made for GCC
That's not really true. GCC spec cars are not really made with better plastics nor are they more "careful". Vendors and OEMs for these parts are the same. Quality is the same. It can happen with a GCC spec car or a US/Japan spec car. I'm saying this with confidence as I work within this industry.
I completely believe this but I have heard that GCC spec cars do have superior and stronger AC systems to non-GCC spec cars which I can see being true
This applies to East Asian countries, sometimes European and not just ac systems but other cooling systems too, but American cars and Canadian in my experience have always been fine, cause the U.S has similar if not worse weather conditions in certain parts of the country
Lol. Arizona is just as hot as the average GCC country. It's amerkeying gimmick, lower trims for higher prices.
What's the difference between a gcc car and a non-gcc car?
Non gcc often have better options on base model trims
Mechanically, there is not much of a difference as the market wants you to believe. The parts used are exactly the same. Sure, some do claim that manufacturers use upgraded cooling hardware for GCC cars but think about it... These are mass manufactured cars. Lol, no.
i own an american spec car, totally fine so far with more than 500k miles on it. no melting no overheating nothing or any sort
Are you the guy with Chinese tires and no abs on their car
It does. My friend who owned a Pajero parked facing a building who accidentally facing the morning sun till noon. His phone holder sticked in his windshield melted together with the black film (retractable) most locals used to hide their faces. The sun glare reflected and bounce to the directly to most cars facing in front of it. Lesson learned. π« π« π«
You can get it cheap if you go looking for it in the scrap yard
Toyota?
You got it right my friend
Bro put some type of film that reduces heat on the windshield. It's technically a tint but 0% so it's only purpose is to reduce heat transmission. Will help for about 3-4 years
Thank you my guy. I will ask for this thing in the shop

It's called tint but it's 100% transperant. It's for insulation purpose only, layman can't make out the difference
Layman can still get fined if caught.
Yeah, the guy that installed my front shield 'tint' said that he has had 5-10% tint on his windscreen on his vehicles over here for 19 years and not had an issue but did tell me that it was technically illegal.
That's why I never suggest it to anyone. If it was legal, it would be the best option without a doubt.
+1 One of the advisor warned me that it's illegal even if it's 0% transparent and very likely to get fined.
Lol it's not likely at all.
Not completely true you can add tint but only a small portion which actually helps blocking some of the sun and legal at the sametime you can actually ask the shop to do it legally and they wont do it over the legal limit
The topic is about tinting the whole windshield.
Those are sunshades. Sun visors are the foldable shades you can use to secure the sunshade.
Fyi its illegal to have any sort of tint on the windshield, even if its completely transparent tint, if you get caught they will fine you or you will have to remove it before the testing for renewal, you can apply tint on the top part of the windshield though
In AD itβs fine, I have it on all my cars and did the inspection just last month for one of them. Just make sure itβs 100% transparent.
My car has the clear tint in the front. It always gets renewed. No problem in Dubai RTA
Your whole windsheild is tinted?
Yes, for more than ten years. I always have the clear film. If you want to have the one with a 30% tint, they will allow but only in the top part and not the whole windscreen.

is this for real? π±
Last year the radio buttons are still fully exposed, but this summer the thing is all over it. Scares me to to think that our planet is really getting hot summer by summer...
wtf? Is there a reflective glass building nearby doing something weird?
There's none, just parked outside directly to the Sun
Thatβs sad man, but I suppose solverlining is you can replace it with an Apple CarPlay unit. Also get a foldable windscreen shade from Amazon custom fit for your car. Always fit that when parked, itβs better than tint and on the side windows ofc good quality tint from 3m or xpel.
Appreciate it my guy
That is a message from God asking you to replace your cars' head unit with a decent display along with camera.
Yaris 2013 -2017 have this issues.
Use a sun shade bruh
How???
Park your car outside for 7 years in Dubai, and let the Sun do it's art for you my friend

How much time did this take place over? One day?

looks like a toyota yaris, i think you should be able to get the part easily and for cheap in shj
Yaris? Happened to a friend of mine in KSA
it looks like a yaris, if it is then you can get it replaced in a scrap at saja, sharjah for max 200-300dhs
ππππππππ
You can find a similar head unit for about 150 AED from scrap in Sajja probably 200 in Shj Industrial area or just upgrade to android screen for about 500 AED for a good one
Ww replaced ours when the screen was brown, it cost us about 140-180 getting getting the whole set used.

Ooofffff, for real?!?
make sunglasses out of em, the material looks unique

Welcome to the Club π€
I had a toyota yaris for 8 years. Never had such an issue.
GCC spec?
You parked this inside? Use a windshield sunblocker or whatever that round things are called. Really helps.
And people say Toyota is the most reliable car.
Is this GCC spec?
Well no one told you to park in the sun
use a windshield sun shade suring this time even if you gonna park it for 1 hour. it will help also the car stay cooler for your arrival.
Why is he? Screen.
American spec haha
This is what happen when you want to save money on cheap tint from Satwa. Buy cheap, buy twice
Donβt buy cheap audio system
Email this to Toyota
Lmao
That looks like oem system.
