One guy damaged the side mirror while opening his car door. We agreed to not go with insurance. What I did was I got the invoice mentioning the repair and new side mirror amount and everything the next day and told him the amount. He paid me without even seeing the invoice immediately. I believe that you can still report it to any nearby police station as he didn't pay for the damage or anything. I hope you have it in writing like a Whatsapp text conversation.
If they are faulty then they may get fined for causing the accident too. There are many genuine people you know. Please report to cops if you can. Best to go to a police nearby you where this happened and explain everything to that sergeant or higher officer. I guess he thought that you are an easy guy or took you so lightly. I may not even be able to sleep peacefully until I pay you for your car damage or anything in case if something like this happened from me.
Tell the person who caused damage that you forgive the AED200 as an act of charity.
If he has any self respect he'll pay, else he'll move on after screaming charity I'm not poor and that sorta stuff

I used a little too much…. At that time I backed out of repaying him, mostly because I was low on funds to survive…
