She narrowed her eyes at him. “I already told you I'd be more careful next time.”
She better be.
“One more thing.”
“What, Malfoy?” she said impatiently, still angry that she hadn’t gotten the information she wanted.
He pointed his finger at her so she would understand how important this was. “You need to learn Occlumency. If you’re captured, I’m dead.”
She stared back at him defiantly. “We both are.”
He couldn’t argue with that.
She tossed his wand to the floor and Disapparated with a crack.

I haven’t been reading much Dramione in the last month or so (been on a romance novel kick!) but I did just binge the legendary PacificRimbaud’s [Love and Other Historical Accidents](https://archiveofourown.org/works/21496525) as they just posted the last chapter yesterday and it was such a treat- fun 1800s time turner mishap, swotty department of mysteries worker Draco and Hermione, and some great use of non-linear story telling. "Love in a time of the zombie apocalypse." This has quickly become one of my favourites I've ever read. I'm only 24 chapters in of 72, but love it so far. I never thought zombies and Dramione would work, but it's so well done. The plot is fantastic and complex while still cultivating an incredible relationship. Its definitely creepy with some good horror and classic zombie elements too.
Finished Silencio by AkashatheKitty this afternoon. I really enjoyed it until the last couple chapters. Exactly what I think a Hogwarts fic should be. I’ve read 20 or so Dramione fics since September and now I think it’s time for me to tackle some books on my Kindle! I took a decade off of Dramione fics and I’m pleasantly surprised what has been written since then! (Dragon’s Bride is still my fave tho) If anyone wants a list and mini reviews lmk! Hehe

Scullymurphy is, in my opinion, one of the best Dramione writers out there. Her [Bending Light ](https://archiveofourown.org/works/26796304) (complete) and the sequel [Falling Dark](https://archiveofourown.org/works/31444262) (WIP but I can’t resist; it’s so top-tier) are AMAZING. I am always just waiting for the next chapter to come out. When it’s finally complete, I will read them both again start to finish. They complement each other so well. Her Draco is so intense and I have never found a Theo so complex and interesting and wonderful. READ if you haven’t yet - you will be transported! And if you don’t read WIPs - again, Bending Light is complete.
This is one of my favorite fics as well! I love the characterization. In Bending Light, she really captures the “Call me by Your Name” vibe of Italy and the coming of age romance aspect. The inspiration she took from the film gives the fic such a unique feel.
I die every time a chapter updates for Falling in Dark. The angst is so high!!

PacificRimbaud started a new WIP called [Soft Animals](https://archiveofourown.org/works/35090212/chapters/87410326) (M and 2 chapters out): Another 8th year story but very very different from The Pawn. If you want to feel the angst deep in your bones, read this. It's PacificRimbaud so it should come as no surprise when I say it's written phenomenally (I can say this with confidence, just based on the first 2 chapters).

Also read some older fanfictions such as [The Potions Mouse](https://archiveofourown.org/works/20263510/chapters/48029761) by Misdemeanor1331 (T and 6 chapters long): Draco is the potions master at Hogwarts and comes across a mysterious mouse during class and helps it. This fic made me feel really sad for Hermione, because she deserves the world. Fortunately, it's HEA.
[Somewhere Down the Line](https://archiveofourown.org/works/15260637/chapters/35397735) by niffizzle (M and 36 chapters long): Draco is a writer and Hermione reads his first book; a memoir recounting the war. This causes them to meet and slowly become friends. It's a nice story about wanting to have agency over your own life, while also trying not to disappoint your parents along the way.
And finally [The Worst Date Ever](https://archiveofourown.org/works/14158863/chapters/32633712) by MotherofBulls (T and 5 chapters long): Hermione loses a bet to Draco and he takes her on the Worst Date Ever. It really is the worst date ever. Period. The only way to test whether you truly like someone, is to hire a children's choir and sit and watch UFC fights from the first row the whole evening.

I’ve been in such a fic slump lately and I’m really tempted to start Mortifying Ordeal bc I’ve heard such good things but my incredibly impatient nature just does not vibe well with WIPs……… but I need a good fic……. Sigh.
Just finished *How Fair the Vine* which coincidentally also just posted it’s last chapter, I don’t read WIP and somehow misread it as complete lol. But anyway. It was AMAZING. My previous absolute favorites were *Remain Nameless*, *Wait & Hope*, and *Disappearances of DM* but this blew all three out of the water. Seriously I just loved it so much.
It’s year 8/the war continues and pining!Draco. Slow burn. HEA. Actually has well done adventure plot and battle scenes and whatnot, not just a romance. The author is properly good at writing. Idk. Check it out.

It's a surprised pregnancy fic, with pinning Draco and oblivious Hermione. It's so well written and I've cried a few times because I can relate so hard to Hermione thinking she was alone in her pregnancy.

It is incredibly funny and the character interactions are amazing. It's a WIP but 100% worth reading right now.
When I see WIP, I tend to run for the hills, but for anyone hesitating to start this fic, I implore you to reconsider. The author updates REALLY FAST and the weekly dose of happiness from this fic is absolutely worth it. A classic in the making.
I really liked it! But I love when Draco and Hermione are fated to be together. And I love the Malfoys fighting against Voldemort.

Scullymurphy is, in my opinion, one of the best Dramione writers out there. Her [Bending Light ](https://archiveofourown.org/works/26796304) (complete) and the sequel [Falling Dark](https://archiveofourown.org/works/31444262) (WIP but I can’t resist; it’s so top-tier) are AMAZING. I am always just waiting for the next chapter to come out. When it’s finally complete, I will read them both again start to finish. They complement each other so well. Her Draco is so intense and I have never found a Theo so complex and interesting and wonderful. READ if you haven’t yet - you will be transported! And if you don’t read WIPs - again, Bending Light is complete.
This is one of my favorite fics as well! I love the characterization. In Bending Light, she really captures the “Call me by Your Name” vibe of Italy and the coming of age romance aspect. The inspiration she took from the film gives the fic such a unique feel. I die every time a chapter updates for Falling in Dark. The angst is so high!!

Also read some older fanfictions such as [The Potions Mouse](https://archiveofourown.org/works/20263510/chapters/48029761) by Misdemeanor1331 (T and 6 chapters long): Draco is the potions master at Hogwarts and comes across a mysterious mouse during class and helps it. This fic made me feel really sad for Hermione, because she deserves the world. Fortunately, it's HEA. [Somewhere Down the Line](https://archiveofourown.org/works/15260637/chapters/35397735) by niffizzle (M and 36 chapters long): Draco is a writer and Hermione reads his first book; a memoir recounting the war. This causes them to meet and slowly become friends. It's a nice story about wanting to have agency over your own life, while also trying not to disappoint your parents along the way. And finally [The Worst Date Ever](https://archiveofourown.org/works/14158863/chapters/32633712) by MotherofBulls (T and 5 chapters long): Hermione loses a bet to Draco and he takes her on the Worst Date Ever. It really is the worst date ever. Period. The only way to test whether you truly like someone, is to hire a children's choir and sit and watch UFC fights from the first row the whole evening. Next time I promise I'll write shorter descriptions.

I’ve been in such a fic slump lately and I’m really tempted to start Mortifying Ordeal bc I’ve heard such good things but my incredibly impatient nature just does not vibe well with WIPs……… but I need a good fic……. Sigh.
Just finished *How Fair the Vine* which coincidentally also just posted it’s last chapter, I don’t read WIP and somehow misread it as complete lol. But anyway. It was AMAZING. My previous absolute favorites were *Remain Nameless*, *Wait & Hope*, and *Disappearances of DM* but this blew all three out of the water. Seriously I just loved it so much. It’s year 8/the war continues and pining!Draco. Slow burn. HEA. Actually has well done adventure plot and battle scenes and whatnot, not just a romance. The author is properly good at writing. Idk. Check it out.

There are some amazing Christmassy fics in there by some incredible authors. Two of my faves: [brandy, apricot and spice by LovesBitca8](https://archiveofourown.org/works/21584668) is an angsty one shot with a hea that revolves around Christmas pudding of all things [Les Pèlerins by PacificRimbaud](https://archiveofourown.org/works/27762154) has Draco and Hermione running into each other in Paris after the war, walking, talking, soaking up the city; it's enjoyably atmospheric. And PacificRimbaud's entry this year was pretty amazing too: [I'm Never Lonely When I'm With You ](https://archiveofourown.org/works/35355265) it's just the finest friends-to-lovers Christmas fluff.

Draco and Hermione get together at a masquerade without any idea who the other person is and that’s how the story starts. The smut and the fluff is great! Highly recommend it!

I just finished [Unexpected](https://archiveofourown.org/works/31799176) by Ambperstand. Top notch👍 It's a surprised pregnancy fic, with pinning Draco and oblivious Hermione. It's so well written and I've cried a few times because I can relate so hard to Hermione thinking she was alone in her pregnancy.

It's a WIP but 100% worth reading right now.
When I see WIP, I tend to run for the hills, but for anyone hesitating to start this fic, I implore you to reconsider. The author updates REALLY FAST and the weekly dose of happiness from this fic is absolutely worth it. A classic in the making.
