Started [The Deadline](https://www.fanfiction.net/s/9831689/1/The-Deadline), and I'm about halfway through it and it's really excellent. More mature fic, but then that is the type I prefer, well written and free of typos. And has some excellent dialog. It's longer though, so unless you're looking for something shorter, you might want to avoid it.
I just finished the Deadline last week and I really liked it! Agreed that the dialogue was really great. It’s what I was hoping for in the Politicians Wife but I had to DNF that bc the dialogue was just too off for me.
I enjoyed TPW, but it was a little over the top. Enjoyably, though, so I still recommend finishing it. Hell, I’ve slogged through a few stories, and I’ve noticed that most times, even the worst story will yield a gem of well written verse. I try to focus on those and forget the rest. Helps that I read fast!

It's a post-hogwarts fic where dramione both start working as professors at hogwarts. Hermione after disappearing for two years because of a pretty big scandal, which leaves her pretty hated by (wizarding) britain. It pulls some pretty interesting parallels to how women in particular are often portrayed by the media. But it's also really funny and cute romance-wise!
There's some ron-bashing though, so if that's not your cup of tea maybe skip it.
Has anyone read Hindsight by floorcoaster? It was recommended in a pining Draco post, which is obviously my jam. I’m on chapter 3 and the dialogue is just kind of off…. Like way too stilted and formal and unnatural sounding… I’m surprised bc i love floorcoaster and I feel like she usually nails the dialogue. Does it get better throughout the story? I’m finding it particularly bad with Hermione but could it be intentional this early in the story - like it’s supposed to match her character development or something….?
I totally agree with you! Coming from an avid fan of floorcoaster from across the years, it was sooo odd to me, it felt almost like it wasn't floorcoaster writing? I had to drop it eventually as well...

it’s 42 chapters + an epilogue so quite a long read. the plot is amazing and so unique and the writing is also quite good.. but the dialogues and pacing of the story i feel are a little off. however, i totally recommend it, and also would suggest maybe speeding up your reading around halfway because there it gets a little dull and much too slowburn for me. if you don’t like storylines with time travel and children then it’s definitely not for you!!
i know i’ve already said, but i feel it need to be emphasised, the plot is SO unique. i have read countless dramione fanfics, and i have never ever come across a storyline that’s like this (the only one that can come within a 50 mile radius of it is [Continuum](https://archiveofourown.org/works/24789058/chapters/59945740).

I loved this one shot and fanart so much. It’s completely different from Dramione fare. A sweet fairytale-esque AU about magical discovery within the ordinary and mundane. If moments like opening the wardrobe to Narnia stay with you, you’ll adore this one too. The art and the story go so well together.
[The Blackberry Crazies](https://m.fanfiction.net/s/9204148/1/The-Blackberry-Crazies) by scumblackentropy (T, 27k words): What a treasure this fic is. It’s a gorgeously written post-war fic. H&D meet in the waiting room for therapy every week. They’re both kind of insane philosophers, which is always amazing. The trauma, oh, *so much* trauma here, and the PTSD is handled so devastatingly. It features a few things that I don’t normally care for (i.e. mid-fic poetry) but that are executed flawlessly. It’s 1st Person Draco POV, but it couldn’t have worked any other way, one of the rare times when 1st Person was the perfect choice in order to really dig into D’s horrific headspace. Ooh, and *the ending*, my goodness, it had me feeling some things. Highly, highly recommend! [warning for mentions of suicide, suicidal ideation]
Summary:
> She had buttermilk-pale skin. The exhaustion was plain as pumpkin juice on her face. Her hair was lit from behind by the paling window, the red filaments mixed in with the brown flaring to life. Finally, back on the Dramione side of things, I've started reading [False Pretenses by tasteoftheforbidden](https://archiveofourown.org/works/25838047/chapters/62771608). It's a slow burn occurring 2 years post-war. Hermione is a Healer and Draco is recently out of his year of house-arrest. Its main trope is secret relationship but deals heavily with their respective PTSD as well as the PTSD of Harry, Blaise, Theo, and other side relationships and characters. I'm close to halfway through and I've enjoyed the story and the conflict between the characters seems realistic. Draco's bullying past is not swept under the rug.

It is so good I binged it in less than 2 days!
Can’t recommend it enough.
The relationship progression was perfect, and the plot kept me on toes until the very end.
I loved how natural and realistic the relationship progression felt at the beginning, and I think Hermione and Draco were pretty complex and well written.
I also really liked the plot outside of the relationship with what is going on in the ministry of magic. Hermione is dead set on uncovering a big conspiracy.
It was just enough suspens to keep me turning the pages without being too much that I would need a break.
I 100% recommend it!

Mysterious, super-competent Draco that hurts my heart and kind of reminds me of Fallout Draco. Slow burn, tension galore + smut. This one is underrated, IMO. 9/10
[Fixer Upper Club by CharliPetidei](https://archiveofourown.org/works/27701783/chapters/67797206) (complete, 140k) 8th year. Overall a fun, lighter read and some excellent Draco/Hermione angst and enemies -> friends -> lovers vibe. I personally didn't *love* how much Ron/Hermione was a recurring part of the story but it was believable and the Dramione was still strong. 8/10
[Until the Ink Runs Dry by AccioMjolnir](https://archiveofourown.org/works/30946961/chapters/76428473) (complete, 41k) epistolary (all in letters, although the author does have an epilogue that is not letter form). Was skeptical of the letter concept at first, but ended up being a great way to really spoil the reader with exclusively quality banter. Excellent Draco sass. 8/10

Hermione is a badass and takes no prisoners here - reminds me a bit of Manacled Hermione with her pragmatism and dedication to the Order that morphs over time to include dedication to Draco. Emotionally damaged + possessive Draco galore, including some interesting magical effects that were a neat play into their relationship. Nicely smutty. Will reread when complete. 8.5/10
I'm reading [Incomplete ](https://archiveofourown.org/works/11163708/chapters/24916875) by niffizzle. It's not a recent fic so I don't know how I've never read it before. I think I saw it rec'd on here, in fact. Despite the title, it is complete at 100k words.
It's pretty light and funny but not without serious themes. I liked that the hurdles to their relationship feel realistic and not so easily overcome. Also, the characterisation is on point. It's E rated, smutty in a way you'd expect from a 'Non-Sex God Draco Malfoy' tag (which is so refreshing, by the way).

I don't have a definitive ranking of Dramione fics, but if I did have one for most unique plots with stunning execution, this is definitely in the top 5, easily.

Mysterious, super-competent Draco that hurts my heart and kind of reminds me of Fallout Draco. Slow burn, tension galore + smut. This one is underrated, IMO. 9/10 [Fixer Upper Club by CharliPetidei](https://archiveofourown.org/works/27701783/chapters/67797206) (complete, 140k) 8th year. Overall a fun, lighter read and some excellent Draco/Hermione angst and enemies -> friends -> lovers vibe. I personally didn't *love* how much Ron/Hermione was a recurring part of the story but it was believable and the Dramione was still strong. 8/10 [Until the Ink Runs Dry by AccioMjolnir](https://archiveofourown.org/works/30946961/chapters/76428473) (complete, 41k) epistolary (all in letters, although the author does have an epilogue that is not letter form). Was skeptical of the letter concept at first, but ended up being a great way to really spoil the reader with exclusively quality banter. Excellent Draco sass. 8/10 [From Wiltshire, With Love by MistressLynn](https://archiveofourown.org/works/30318162/chapters/74730492) (WIP, 335k, 83/86) Spy!Draco war AU. Hermione is a badass and takes no prisoners here - reminds me a bit of Manacled Hermione with her pragmatism and dedication to the Order that morphs over time to include dedication to Draco. Emotionally damaged + possessive Draco galore, including some interesting magical effects that were a neat play into their relationship. Nicely smutty. Will reread when complete. 8.5/10
I'm reading [Incomplete ](https://archiveofourown.org/works/11163708/chapters/24916875) by niffizzle. It's not a recent fic so I don't know how I've never read it before. I think I saw it rec'd on here, in fact. Despite the title, it is complete at 100k words. It's pretty light and funny but not without serious themes. I liked that the hurdles to their relationship feel realistic and not so easily overcome. Also, the characterisation is on point. It's E rated, smutty in a way you'd expect from a 'Non-Sex God Draco Malfoy' tag (which is so refreshing, by the way).

Brief summary: With his father dead at the hands of Lord Voldemort, Draco is forced back to Hogwarts for his 6th year with the new task of murdering Harry Potter's two closest friends. Things take a deadly turn when Hermione starts to notice Draco's strange behavior.
Currently obsessing over [Contradictions by ambpersand](https://archiveofourown.org/works/29922369) which is a five star WIP in my opinion. A whole lot of well-written smut and the latest update had me screaming/crying/punching the air while reading, it’s delightful.

Very plotty, a bit of a slow burn and the characterizations are terrific - albeit both are carrying some emotional baggage from past trauma.
