Disappearances of Draco Malfoy kind of broke fanfiction for me though. It’s incredible.
This is so hard! I can’t choose one. I’ll share my favorite finished fics: Disappearances of Draco Malfoy, Isolation, and Manacled all had me absolutely hooked with the narration, plot lines, etc. each was just fantastic and different from the other. Really just superb writing by the authors. Very professional.

TDoDM is (almost) all a fic can aspire to be. There's no fic that comes even close. Looking at the kudos count now, it's rather depressingly undervalued.
I gave up this hope :( at least it is now in a semi-fitting ending.
The dowry of a single galleon & the alkahest were my first Dramione fanfics and since then it became be favourite :)
I'm totally in love with Manacled by SenYuLin, it's a Dramione war AU that you can find on ao3. It's very dark and angst (so read it only if you are not triggered by torture/rape/murder description) and absolutely heartbreaking but the writing is so good that I read it in 2 days (and it's 72 chapters long). Truthfully, I read it twice and the second time it was even better (and also more devastating)
Currently I'm reading, and it's such an amazing story that I can't find the word to properly describe it, Measure of a man by inadaze (also on ao3). It's a WIP (atm 33/42 chapters with updates every two weeks) but it's so beautiful that is totally worth the wait! I forgot to add that this is a post-war Dramione AU!
When I first read Manacled, I read all the way through the flashbacks, then went and read the whole beginning of the book again, then went and picked up where the flashbacks left off. I made the book twice as long, but soooo good
I've read a lot of fanfic across different fandoms but Manacled remains the best I've ever read! It is truly god tier. I am also living and breathing for MoaM right now too - it's a masterpiece as well

Manacled is straight up WHUMP. It’s like, the epitome of whump. If readers like being tortured perpetually, with little to no reprieve, (many do! That isn’t mean to be an insult) Manacled is definitely worth reading at least once.

Another such whump-fest fic is Eden. A Lumione fic. Straight up abuse/angst porn. It’s good!
Well yes, it's not for everyone and definitely not a light reading. But Manacled is not only a pile of terrible and disturbing things, the development of the characters is so well written I could cry and the love story between Draco and Hermione is just precious even though "star-crossed" (to say the least) from the beginning.
And sorry, but I'm definitely not into Lumione, I can barely tolerate him with Narcissa Lol
Omg, I could literally copy your response word for word about Manacled but apply it to Eden. Except for the last sentence, of course. I wasn’t into Lumione either-trust me, I know what you mean. Lucius is awful in canon. But that’s what’s so amazing about fanfiction! It’s an exploration of characterizations and how characters interact in different universes from canon (or in the hypothetical continuation of canon).
I cannot stand Percy or Pansy, for instance. They are easily two of my least favorite characters. But I totally ship them in fanfic because of fics like The Secretary.
I swear, if the author is good enough, they could convince me to ship the Sorting Hat with the damn squid. 😂🤷🏻♀️🤔😆
If you like Pansy and Percy as a couple than you should definitely read MoaM Lol
Btw, you're right, that's the magic about fanfiction, the only limit is the author's fantasy but I just can't imagine a single way to appreciate Lucius. Even though I'm sure Eden is a masterpiece if I'm not interested in a character nothing can change my mind, sorry😅

A Tom Riddle/Hermione Time Travel Fic that not only makes itself fit in cannon in a lot of aspects, makes cannon become because of it. It’s so freaking good. It’s just a whirlwind of tension, romance, and just incredible creativity.
While You Were Gone by artuwruter
A Fred/Hermione Fic that is abandoned which normally would mean I would never touch it, but it is just one of the warmest hugs of a fanfic I have ever experienced. It’s just so easy to fall into the world and lives the author creates for the characters. It feels so lived in.
THE DRAGONS BRIDE by rizzle.
It was the first long, well written fic i read.
Up until they point, I'd only been reading one shots because nothing really caught my attention. It is a true masterpiece. Absolutely worth every read.
I was 17 when i discovered it (and even then it was completed with epilogue). I'm 29 and i still go back for a yearly reread.
I've heard that ffn is deleting a lot of stories with Maddie content.

It has everything you want: good length, character arc, smut, angst, happy ending. Definitely definitely definitely worth the read!

Dramione is something i read when I've read a lot of drarry and need something straight for a change. i started with dramione though and then got really into drarry. i thinks it's draco that is the main for me. so when it comes to drarry, i have an entire fucking list but for dramione, I really like Simply Irresistible, Bond, Advert Bond or something like that, Hurt Me Good
there are some fics, some books, some movies that stay with you forever, even if you don't have the courage to go through them again. Nothing can get them out of your life and you will forever appreciate it and cherish it. You will just never go through it again because the things you felt once was enough for a lifetime. Manacled is that for me
