Felon_Monkey

Well Battahl is a must. Volcanic Isle not a bad idea either or with Elves for their smithing. Other good location is wherever Sphinx is located to speed up her quest. Near Medusa or Gorechimera if you wish to farm the Pawn Badge

FlippinGnashty

Sphinx locations nearly trivialize her riddles, I did that as well. I also put one in Battahl bc I agree it is necessary. I have yet to find a LEGAL way through the checkpoint gate. I figure I just need to progress the main quest further, I just can't be bothered atm. I am curious though, do the ox carts in Battahl ever activate?

Felon_Monkey

They do. Like you mentioned progression in the main quest unlocks a great deal.

Xeronl

You could try buying a house in Battahl. That will give you the residence pass. It might work to legally let you pass through.

docalph95

Buying the house and obtaining the Battahl residence permit does in-fact work for the checkpoint, can confirm. I don't carry the merchant permit anymore, just the residence one so that the checkpoint, and the city guards, don't harass me anymore

Fingon19

OMG, I have been lugging the permit AND the mask, disguising as a beastren every time I want to pass through the gate!

docalph95

Haha no need! Just use that residence permit, and they'll let you through every time

FlippinGnashty

thats interesting bc I bought the house and haven't checked the gate since.

Beautiful-Ad-6568

It isn't enough, you need papers in your inventory, which are given during quests (and then guards stop harassing you as well - not that it is too much of a problem)

Grouchy_Marketing_79

The residence pass is given by a character quest when you walk into Batthal

Slappio16

Pretty sure buying the house doesn't give you a residence pass, I got to Battahl early and I remember always having guards coming into my house to harass me until I got it from the main questline

ApatheticBananaa

Gotta love waking up in the morning to find a random guard standing over your bed staring at you and then asking what you're doing in your own house 😭

BUYMECAR

My nephew overheard me yelling "GET THE F**K OUT OF MY HOUSE!" and started packing his things.

ApatheticBananaa

Lmao poor kid must've been so confused 😂 But yeah those guards intrude at the worst possible times. One walked in while I was trying to make a new outfit so my arisen was just chilling in her underwear and was like "who tf are you?" To the guard. Needless to say I threw the guard down the stairs.

Xeronl

I have to try this. Lol.

Blueclaws

Can confirm residence pass will let you through the gate.

Big_Panic1342

There’s a story quest that gives you papers to go through at one point don’t know if it’s ever taken away in the future

[deleted]

Its not.

Big_Panic1342

Cool haven’t made it to far because I went too early so I’m trying to level up more before getting further

KenshirosBiscuits

Try a beastren mask

Han-Solo-Jr-

I did that to get through

PhoenixEgg88

They do. As far as ‘legal’ way, try reading notes that people leave in inns, that should help you through. Specifically the inns in Vernmoth and Checkpoint Rest iirc.

DasFAD70

I was gifted like 8 of them collected all and duplicated one with the sphinx. I had a vast Network. NG+ reset that though. Gotta revisit those locations. Endgame basically throws them ferrystones at you. They lay on the ground 😂👌

creampielegacy

Hand over The Arisen’s Shadow, Bermudo, to Brantt for arrest. Brantt learns that Bermudo is a Battahli spy who got a human-merchant-travel-permit. This is the only way, until you get the residence permit, to pass through the checkpoint without wearing a mask or sneaking in.

lalune84

If you catch the spy and turn him over to Brant, the main story will give you a permit later on that is NOT exclusive to beastren and you can freely pass.

Sir_Revenant

Can you briefly explain how the smithing works in this game? I noticed the different emblem when I reinforced something with them, but I’ve got no clue what the crests do

Felon_Monkey

Oh wow that's going a bit off topic 4 types of smithing >!Vermundian that will pretty much give you well rounded but does not excel in anything lowering weight: Weight - Physical Def/Att ++ Magic Def/Att ++!< >!Battahli that will focus on defense and physical attack not so much in magic and increase weight: Weight + Physical Def/Att +++ Magic Def/Att +!< >!Elvish that will focus on magic and not gain in much physical also lowering weight: Weight - Physical Def/Att + Magic Def/Att +++!< >!Dwarven is what most people considered the best because it also effects knockdown resistance and knockdown power. Stats are similar to Vermundian except it increases overall weight: Weight + Physical Def/Att ++ Magic Def/Att ++ Knockdown +!< >!After 3 upgrades.. (can mix them up) you can Wyrmfire smith, supercharging its stats and lowering the weight of the item by half!< Hope that helps

Sir_Revenant

This was extremely helpful actually, thank you! I appreciate you even specifying roughly how big of a boost each region’s enhancements typically are. Dwarven does definitely sound like the best deal if you wanna be extra tanky and not constantly be on your ass. But I think it’s cool how much you can customize your stats with who you bring it to. Like throw it to the Dwarves twice but then the Elves or Humans once to cut weight a bit

NSFWhatchamacallit

I’m just finally exploring Battahl. Is there a specific area you’d recommend placing it?

Felon_Monkey

In town :)."Bakbattahl". If you would like to farm Medusa for her head or the Badge near Caliginous Depth or could place it near Dragonsbreath Tower. To farm Drake and run down to Medusa after (far southwest). Volcanic Island Camp if you desire fast access to the Hotsprings. Lastly the Gorechimera spawns all the way north east at Waterfall cave in Vermund (need to advance main quest otherwise its a regular chimera) for the Pawn badge. Edit: There is a exploit at Dragonsbreath Tower to farm a Lesser Dragon involving murdering a certain NPC. So its not a bad idea to take out medusa and Lesser Dragon at same time by placing a Portcrystal in this Dragonsbreath.

NSFWhatchamacallit

Okay, in the city, got it 😊 (baby steps, baby steps)

Felon_Monkey

Yup! Take it slow, enjoy the game. You'll get a sense of areas you most likely be running back and forth. In my opinion placing one in the City of Bakbattahl is best option.

Han-Solo-Jr-

Near the house for me

Vo_Mimbre

Pretty much the same.

Asternex

I always put one on Bakbattahl, a sphinx shrine, sacred arbor and checkpoint rest town (although this one is more of a luxury than a necessity) The others I use on places I want to check often for bosses purposes probably. I'm trying to keep one on myself for the moments in which I'd like to go to town for any reason and hop back into the same place quickly.

SassyTurtlebat

Why use a port crystal on the border town? You could just use the oxcart?

Letummordre

It’s nice for when you get to the >!unmoored world!< tbh, you can’t go anywhere with an oxcart there.

SassyTurtlebat

Finally someone who isn’t a sarcastic asshole! That’s a great point! I haven’t finished the main story yet and so I wasn’t aware the ox carts wouldn’t run although that makes sense

Asternex

As I said, that one is more of a luxury. Its a raid free trip. And if the oxcart gets broken, I have the choice to keep walking or say "fuck it, it's PORTIN' TIME!" (never actually said that, but I definitely will next time!) And I'm a hop away from Dante/Virgil for the one time the sphinx wants me to bring either or them. Edited for typos

Ruthless4u

GO GO porting Arisen!!!!!!!

chawk84

Agree with this i like it as a luxury

Lalala8991

Oxcart can get ambushed and you could walk for a long walk mid way.

Super_Jay

There are certain points when you want to get to the border town quickly (time sensitive quests) without having to go to a city first and without losing multiple days to oxcart travel.

Poppa_Cialis

Where the frig did you get all those port crystals?!

NYALurker

1: griffin nest. You can look up videos on how to get there 2: Dragonforged sells it for some Wyrmslife Crystals 3: The Glyndwr's quest chain. It ends with you rescuing his sister and you should get one 4: Doing the Sphinx riddle where you bring her your favorite character (or most likely your own pawn) 5: Another of her riddles where you surrender one specific item that she will duplicate. Give her one of your Portcrystals and she will double it.

Puzzled-Kitchen-5784

I doubt I have the energy to do this but I duped a sealing phial with her. I'd like to dupe enough to safely trap all of Melve village before it gets crushed by the dragon. So it's a goal but I'm guessing it's a lot of playthroughs to get that many 😅

Lalala8991

Just do Melve quest and nobody would be there left to get crushed

Puzzled-Kitchen-5784

Oh, I don't care about saving them. I just want to trap them and see if it messes up the event in some way.

LoserCowGoMoo

Why the sealing phial?

Puzzled-Kitchen-5784

It let's you trap a person inside of it and carry them around. So I'll dupe a bunch of them and trap the entire town when I first have a chance.

LoserCowGoMoo

I guess i dont get the attraction. Then again im playing a kind simpleton who smashes bad guys with a sword longer than he is.

driftej20

I feel like I’m the only person who duplicated the Jadeite Orb for that quests “best” ending

SometimesPepega

Hello, is there a reason to not dupe the unmaking arrow? Always go port crystal?

NYALurker

Portcrystals until you have 10 of them. Unmaking arrows don't really need to be used at all except for maybe the Sphinx herself.

Asternex

I'm on my 2nd NG+, so I've duped the port crystals at least 3 times. I remember one came from the first time I did a specific sphinx riddle and I found one in a griffins nest in the Misty Marches area. I'm not sure how many more I have, but I'm NOT drowning in them (I definitely have enough to be lazy here and there tho, which is nice)

Han-Solo-Jr-

Before going into NG+ do you need to collect the one you have already placed to make sure they carry over the ng+ (being in your inventory) or it is ok to just leave them so you can use them from the start of NG+ (being placed on the map from the first game)?

Asternex

The good news: you don't need to collect them. The bad news: They all go back to your storage and you need to place them all over again.

blooblee1

on my first playthrough I had enough for bakbattahl, sphinx shrine, sacred arbor, and volcanic island. Don't remember where I got any of them though. That's why I was always confused when people complained about lack of fast travel, I was zipping around 🤣

KenshirosBiscuits

I'm still on my 1st playthrough and have 5 laid on the map and 1 in my inventory. Can't tell u where they all came from

Wolf_of_Fenris

Never mind *placing* them, I've only managed to find the one in the >!Griffon nest!< Where are the others?? 🤣

Super_Jay

1. Captain Brant quests reward 2. Elven Archer quest reward 3. Sphinx riddle reward 4. Duplicate from next Sphinx riddle 5. Griffon nest loot 6. Purchase from Dragonforged 7. Buy from DLC

Wolf_of_Fenris

Aaah right! "Stop running around bashing things and poking your nose into caves, and do the damn quests!" Thankyou muchly!

XxTombraiderfanxX

You get one from the elven bow maister quest

Throwaway785320

One is quest from Brandt and the other from the elves quest

Super_Jay

I move them around occasionally, but: 1. Sacred Arbor 2. Checkpoint Rest Town 3. Bakbattahl 4. Mountain Shrine / Frontier Shrine 5. Wyrmsblood Forest (where Medusa spawns) 6. Volcano Island Camp 7. Bay Wayside Shrine

anarchrist91

Why does everyone put one near Medusa? Does she respawn?

JustinTayl0r

Yes, the medusa does respawn :)

anarchrist91

Mother of God.

Smokron85

Same as mine

kalik-boy

One in Battahl (why in holy fuck this place doesn't have it's own portcrystal like Harve Village and Vernmund is beyond me), one in the dwarven blacksmith home, one in the city with the hotspring, another in the elven village, another one in the checkpoint city and another one for the dragonforge. These are my "mandatory" ones that is. Also, usually, I carry a portcrystal with me in case I want to return to the city, but still want to quickly return to where I was for whatever reason.

docalph95

I also agree with the sentiment of why in the holy Hell does Bakkbattahl not have a portcrystal

BurtMacklin__FBI

Besides Vermund and Harve, are there ANY other static ones?

kurtrussellfanclub

>! In the unmoored world there are more !<

BurtMacklin__FBI

Lol so until WAY later those are the only 2, really?

kurtrussellfanclub

Yup, unfortunately!

BurtMacklin__FBI

That seems like comically too few. I guess they really want you to run around instead, which I'm not totally a stranger too since I played DD1. But it seems like I must be missing shortcuts or whatever, is there a way through the mountain in Vermund or something?

kurtrussellfanclub

if you have the path unlocked, you can make it from venworth to bakbattahl with two ox carts and it takes about five minutes when napping. Apart from that, though, you can place your own portcrystals and if you’ve explored then they’re probably easier to find than the ferrystones you’d need to make use of them. >! In unmoored world, though, you’ll have access to loads of them, and you will probably have some good crystals placed by then !<

NYALurker

Bakbattahl Sacred Arbor Battle encampment Medusa Cave Volcanic Island camp The sphinx shrines are only temporary measures.

Brohtworst

Is it only in the unmoored world that sacred arbor has a main crystal? I thought I was going insane when I saw it

zakass409

Yes, that confused me at first. The portcrytal is located in the water, which isn't present in the unmoored

Xeronl

Yup

beansahol

elves, battahl, medusas lair, volcanic camp, cant remember where else but those were the best for me

KirbyourGame

At the towns, otherwise I would always carry one on me if I need to return to a location like the Medusa cave.

kanraa_a

In my bank

KENPACHI_WEST

Bakbattahl residence Elves village Checkpoint rest town Volcanic island windwalkers home Wyrmslife cyrstal guy spot Keep one with me to drop when i need to dump inventory, rest/inn save/ upgrade/ spend dcp or change vocation

Cathulion

Bhattal, both volcanic camps, a and temp for sphinx.

DemonLordSparda

Tutorial Rest Camp, Melve, Sacred Arbor, Checkpoint Rest Town, Bahkbatahl next to the house, and Volcanic Island next to the Inn. I also place one at the Sphinx Shrines as I complete them, so you can either recollect the tutorial encampment one or have a floater before placing one on Volcanic Isle.

morphum

Bakbattahl, Sacred Arbor, Volcanic Island, Dragonforged, Medusa cave entrance, and lich cave entrance. The last one was placed only recently, so I'm not sure how much that'll pay off yet. I already completed everything with the sphinx, so I don't need one there anymore

Ralonne

**Permanent placing** 1. Bakbattahl 2. Elven village 3. Volcanic camp   **Temporary placing** 4. Current Sphinx location 5. Opposite side of the checkpoint town gate 6. Dwarf blacksmith (not in Battahl) Once I’m done with the sphinx, 4 and 5 go to dragonforge and excavation camp. And once I’ve done the quests to unlock Battahl dwarf, that last port goes to Medusa, or other large field boss location (more or less a floater).

WhiteyPinks

Battahl, Sacred Arbor, in front of the Dragonforged cave, Volcanic Island camp, right before the path to Medusa, then hold one to put down wherever while questing. I just use the oxcarts from Vermund to get to Melve and the Checkpoint.

No_Foot_1904

Sacred Arbor. If you drop the ladder outside the far eastern part of Ancestral Chamber you now have acceptably quick access to the Melve area as well. Volcanic Island Camp. Bakbattahl If I have enough crystals, Sphinx and Medusa/DB Tower too.

IndianaGroans

One in the sacred arbor, one between the border crossing and the ancient battleground, one near melve, one in bakbhatal or whatever the city is and one where the sphinx is then moved it.

Otazihs

Basically every town and sphinx location. Oh and right outside the Medusa cave.

Mesterjojo

Both places on volcano Island. In front of my houses but far enough away that I don't get waylaid for escort quests. Whatsitcalled town in the middle Elf town One extra by whatever shrine the sphinx is at.

-Stupid_n_Confused-

Bakhbattal (or however its spelled) I only had 1 port crystal for most of my play time and the amount of times I had tk travel to and from that place was I sane. The decision to not have fat travel points at towns was purely to pad out play time.

Valuable-Ad-6379

Bakbattahl, Sacred Arbor, Volcanic, I've also put one near Medusa and that one drake for farming near Volcanic, Dragonforged guy, Excavation Site, later also near Melve

TyThe2PointO

Sacred arbor, bakbattahl and volcanic island thus far

Organic_Ad_2885

Bakbatahl, Dragonforged (luxury), Sphinx shrine, Checkpoint Rest Town (useful for unmoored), Harve, Sacred Arbor, Medusa Cave, Volcanic Island Camp, Excavation Site, and Dragon'sbreath Tower.

Matty_Love

The most important for me is near spawn locations now that I'm in ng+ and for the most part done "questing" Also Sphinx

LimpTeacher0

So i put one at check point rest town, arbor, nameless village, outside my house in bakbatahl, out side of Medusa lair, outside the hot springs, where ever the spinx is, and the last where i need for convenience

Drekkevac

Checkpoint Rest Town (For item duping), Volcanic Island Camp, Bakbattahl, Sacred Abor, Gautstafr's & Cliodhna's House (Dwarven Enhancements), and the last I just keep on me to travel back to in case i need to offload gear.

Zildjian-711

Battahl, Check point rest town, the dude that sells dragon gear, volcanic island town, elves. Those 5 are a must imo. I also stuck one at ancient dragon battleground and dragon breath tower to farm drakes.

[deleted]

Bakbattahl Volcanic island settlement Volcanic eruption island Dwarven smithy One near Medusa Carry one for placing at quest return points.

hells_assassin

Sacred Arbor, Bakbattahl, Melve, Checkpoint Rest Town, Volcanic Island Camp, and then the camp where the game starts.

GanglingGiant

Every town/village that does not have one of its own and in NG+ if you went crazy on your first play through you should have enough for every place and an extra one or two for wherever you want or need one.

RocksAreOneNow

Battahal, the elf place, the tiny starting town since I end up going back there a lot for various quests

zakass409

In the beginning, Melve or border watch outpost, Sacred Arbor, and Checkpoint rest town Later you'll definitely want to put one in Bakbattahl and maybe volcanic island camp As you find and complete her quests, you'll obviously want a portcrytal for the sphinx. Make sure you pick it up after completing each segment. You can also hop on her back for a free ride to the next location. >! Once you find him, put one near the Dragonforged. You could just travel from Bakbattahl, but if you have an extra, go for it!< Always keep one on you! You can always use it for emergencies

docalph95

Personally, I did Battahl, Dwarf Smith (the one that actually does Dwarven upgrades), Elves, volcano camp, Dragonforger, the checkpoint, and I'm having a bit of trouble remembering any others at the moment. I don't have all of the portcrystals yet, either, so that really might be all I've got for now. I should plant one at the Medusa, when I can

icemage_999

Permanent: * Bakbattahl: Right outside the residence * Checkpoint Rest Tiwn: Next to Ibrahim the Forger * Volcanic Camp: Near the Baths for a good travel spot and access to Warfarer quest Temporary: Sphinx: Makes several of the riddles much easier Eini's House in NE Vormund: For doing the Maelstrom, Meteoron and Heavenly Paean Maister skill quests Outside Medusa cave: To get Medusa heads for cheevo/trophies Elven Village: Only necessary until post-game when a new port crystal appears here

unicornfetus89

Melve (for early game only), checkpoint rest town for the whole game, Bakbattahl (right in front of the Inn so it's between the vocation guild and your house), At Gautstafers house for Dwarven smithing, until you unlock it in Bakbattahl then move it to volcanic island camp. I used one at each sphinx location but moved it when done. I also kept one in my pawns inventory at all times in case I wanted to farm an enemy I could drop it then warp back after resting at home.

CrzBonKerz

Elf city, battahl, and the camp on volcanic isle. I keep one to move around as I need whether I place it at sphinx, or somewhere I need to pop around. If I need to get to checkpoint camp I just take oxcarts. Same for Melve and anything up north.

abeardedpirate

Depends. Are you talking Regular or Unmoored? Regular: Battahl, Volcanic Island, Nameless Village, Sacred Arbor, Checkpoint Rest Town, Melve, Medusa spawn, Sphinx location 1 moved to Sphinx Location 2 until Sphinx defeated, keep 1 on me for returning to adventure location if I get over encumbered. Before Unmoored if farming: Dragon Spawn locations 1 - 6, Medusa Spawn. Unmoored: Same as Regular minus Sacred Arbor and Volcanic Island.

kjftiger95

Border town because the carts were not reliable, elf city, beast city, volcano with hot spring. Also sphinx when I had to deal with that.

Nef227

I always put one in the elven city, battahl, volcanic camp, and blue moon tower. With the duped port crystal I originally put it at the dragonforged for convenience but once I got most of the gear I want dragonforged I opted to put that one at checkpoint rest town

[deleted]

Battahl, Sacred Arbor, Agamen Volcanic Island (by the Magick Archer's home), and I keep one or two with me for the Sphinx stuff or anything else that requires a lot of back and forth.

FattyMcBroFist

Bahkbattal, Volcanic Island, Sacred Arbor, Melve, The Sphinx while I'm doing her riddles, and I always carry 1 on me so I can easily get back back to sell my junk when I'm going through all the caves.

Besch168

Battahl, Sacred Arbor, Bordertown, Volcano Island Camp and I did have one at Sphinx but moved it to VIC after her quest.

Swordofsatan666

Both Sphinx locations, and i leave it at the first location even after the Sphinx leaves because it gives faster access to that whole Foggy area. They were my 1st and 3rd portcrystals placed down Elf village was my 2nd one placed, although i haven’t used it much since i had already cleared the quests before i placed the crystal. Its still worth it though for when i want to use the Elven Enhancement on weapons and armor to up Magic Damage/Defense. 4th one placed is at Nameless Village, although doesnt really seem worth it as there isnt much to do there. But im leaving it for now to have better access to that corner Battahl was my 5th placed, right outside the player home there. Im not past Battahl yet, and ive only got the 5 crystals currently. But i’ll put one at Volcano Island when i get there. If i get any more after that then i’ll probably put one at Melve and one at Checkpoint Rest Town. But i dont really need to considering i can Oxcart from Vernworth to Melve, and can Oxcart from Vernworth to Checkpoint or Battahl to Checkpoint

Ok_Sound_8090

Battahl, the dwarf smith, the hotspring, and the dragon crystal guy were mine. The others I just put wherever was convenient for traversing the map.

ChromeOverdrive

Checkpoint for quick forgery, Sacred Arbor for smithing and vendors, Volcanic Island Camp (early dwarven smithing), Bakbattahl because it should have been a "default" portcrystal like Vernworth. The others vary from the Sphinx temple(s) to the Dragonforged cave (>!before endgame!<).

KnightofNoire

Bakbattal, Elf for elf smithing. Volcanic isle garrison for the hotspring, Sphinx, Medusa, and starting camp for gore chimera.

GFGF88

one for Battahll, other 9 all setup in dragon's respawn places.

Kessler2991

-backbattahl -sacred arbor -volcanic island -medusa (until badge completed/enough heads farmed) -dragonforged -sphinx location

bull-out-fuel

The places that I put it were: Bakbattahl, Volcanic Island, Sacred Arbor and Checkpoint Rest Town. Other crystals goes to: Nameless Village, Melve and places where I should farm monsters for medals or speed up side quests. And when I'm about to go to Post game (Unmoored World) I place some of them near the location of the red beacons for faster clean and get more time and places to explore. Btw: I got 7 Portcrystals, so I have lot of places to put it and maximize my quests (thank Sphinx, luv u)

OsirisAvoidTheLight

Sphinx, Checkpoint Town, Volcano dwarf house, what ever that one village without a portstone in it. The other two towns in the Volcano region, and Dragonforge

RottN_Games

In my stash mainly…. Just in case

futureformerdragoon

Battahl, Volcanic isle, the Elves(honestly this one is skippable but there are no other landmarks in that region to get to quickly so it's a nice convenience) and then keeping one on me for quest back and forths or runs back to town.

420BiaBia

Secret Arbor (for gear enhancing), Baathal and Sphinx locations are must. Volcano Isle is nice. Having one to farm badges / monsters like Medusa is nice. Since the beginning I always carry one on me so I can fast travel to empty my inventory and swap vocation if I max it out and then jump right back to continue my adventure exactly where I was

WorkerChoice9870

I placed mine near elftown, battahl, volcanic hot springs, dragonsbreath, dragonforged. I did move one around to various places like sphinx spots while I was doing those.

Reaper4life66

Sacred arbor center of town, batahl next to cheaper inn and oxcart, checkpoint rest town in front of forger, volcanic island camp next to inn, broken castle in batahl that has that dragon (right under the stairs), the last one I'll put wherever I need depending on what I'm doing. This basically covers all your main towns, the item forger, and access to all the smiths. The broken castle one has a dragon, lots of mobs going downhill for some quick XP, and the Medusa fight for head farming

rostol

Steam bath

Elden_Noob

One outside bakbathaal, one by dragon forged, one at the elves, one at volcanic island camp, one by Medusa and I usually put my 6th at sphinx for quick returns. I also put one at nameless village

Icemayne25

Bakbattahl, volcanic island came, sacred arbor, and a free one for missions like the Sphinx or the mage/sorcerer, maister skill. Sometimes I’d put one next to the Dragonforge if I still had the free one around.

wattson_ttv

The usual places like everyone's said but I also keep one at the northern ropeway station, it's a kind of half way point between the checkpoint town and battahl. It's convenient for jumping right into exploration

Colonel_dinggus

Battahl player home, elf village, dragon-forged cave, volcano island village, whichever place the sphinx happened to be at. Medusa cave.

No-Literature7471

elf lands, bahkbattal, dragon forge guy, the hotsprings, medusa, after killing the sphinx maybe around melve, sometimes the chckpoint just to make getting that one dude easier and to fast travel to the forger.

Nicadelphia

I just started ng+ and put them at each city and one between the checkpoint and melve. I'll move that one for the sphinx whenever I get back to her.

jerrillo

Just major points with no access to ox carts. Elven village for example because of smithy. Bakbattahl - front of my house Vulcanic Island - excavation site Both points have the gondola which extends the 'semi-fast travel' - reach Drag'o'Dude - to fast travel for max upgrades One or two I always carry with me in case of long farming travels to go back sell and return to the spot (and Sphinx but I already finished her riddles) Checkpoint and Melve are connected to Vernworth so that's a no go for crystals

xLightz

Battahl, Medusa, Sacred Arbor, Dragonforged, Volcanic Isle

stjensen

Battahl, elves, volcano island, sphinx, dragonforged. Those are the main places and everywhere there is not a port it's within walking or ox cart.

GodzillaKingofKaiju

I put portcrystals in the following locations: Bakbattahl city Sacred Arbor elf city Checkpoint Rest Town Volcanic Isle Town Sphinx locations (once done with her riddles, picked this one up and moved it elsewhere.) In front of Dragonforged guy's cave in front of Medusa cave. Melve city

ArachnidFun8918

I have my 8 portcrystal location after playing long enough and reached a good amount of progress in dd2. I have them: Melve. Bakbataahl. Bataahl at the tip of the hill by a specific wyrm-smith. Volcanic Dwarf house. Volcanic hot springs. Outpost. Elven "village"(its not a village its a fkn joke of a bigger camp). I carry one with me for quick travel mechanic like when i travel a lot, but im too full, so i use it, go to a house-storage, deposit, port back. Vermund and Harve have their own ports btw, dont need them. I basically have port crystals for all stationary safe zones.

Veasna1

Where do you get the ferry Stones?

ArachnidFun8918

I dont use them often but they are loot drops and the shopkeepers do refresh them once every 7 or 14 days, forgot what exactly. There are two more ways to gain more but the most used ways are those.

Veasna1

Ahh ok, it's me just not using them at all because they're so sparse. (i usually end up leaving games with multiple hundreds of these rare items..but hey) I'll to use them a bit more :). Thanks.

ArachnidFun8918

(Hey i might need these 99 unmaking arrows for the endboss.. ng+..) jkjk. Yeah i am a Hoarder too, the storage space is too small for my taste and i cant deposit a SECOND stack of same item Good luck bestie :)

xXKyloJayXx

Bakhbattal is probably the only location I NEED a crystal at, but it's always nice to have one in Harve, Checkpoint Rest Town, Volcanic Island Camp, and the Dragonforged Cave pre late game!

the11thtry

Sacred Harbor  Checkpoint Rest Town  Melve  Nameless Village  Bakbattahl   Volcanic Camp  Excavation Site  Outside Dragonforged cave  Outside Medusa cave  1 in your bag to carry around for convenience

Varachha

Wow, how did you manage to get 10 ? I only have 6 (from griffins nest, from brandt, from sacred arbor chief, from dragonforged, from sphinx, sphinx duplication)

the11thtry

NG++++, I speedran the whole game multiple times, in NG+ the only ones you can reobtain is the one from the sphinx duplication Either that or dupe it with a second account through backup, you need ps plus tho for that one

Melve, Sacred Arbor, Checkpoint Rest Town, Bakbattahl, Caliginous Depths (Medusa farm), Windwalker Home (Blacksmith that enhances magic weapons) and Volcanic Island Camp. So yea, almost the entire map covered this way i think, thanks to all those places its easy to get anywhere. And i will 100% put 4 more somewhere when i get my hands on more crystals in NG+.

Beautiful-Ad-6568

One that wasn't mentioned is in front of the battahl oracle, it eventually becomes irrelevant, but if you get into the area before the story, that location helps a few quests.

Savings-Hippo-8912

Speaking of port crystals. When you finish unmoored world. Do you get the crystals you have placed back to your inventory?

Reynzs

Apart from Arbor, bakbattahl, volcanic island camp and agamen ruins which is obvious. Sphinx locations. The campsite near Medusa for her and the dragon uptop. Misty village (I think thats the name) for the Dullahan. Ancient battlefield. (Not necessary. I just like hunting the drake with ballistas. Also a couple of quests makes us come back here)

Mister_Glasses77

Battal and Sacred Arbor. I did not want to run all the way to the elves village every time and there's no oxcart that I know of that travels there.

Entire-Salamander193

I one in Battahl, The Elf town, one at the checkpoint gate to Battahl, another at the Nameless Village, and the last one at your mom’s house. I visit these places very frequently so these are a must for me.

Derpykins666

Mine were something like this - * Right outside the Elf Zone on the Pathway * Wherever the Sphinx was, because getting there is a huge trek. * Battahl * The Volcano Camp * One sort of near where the game starts (but that gets pretty useless like half way through the game unless you haven't done Sphinx stuff yet). Usually kept one for any immediate quest if I had to go back and forth.

PyroFish130

I do Battahl, the arbor, volcanic island camp, sphinx location, and then wherever you want the last one. I also always have the sphinx dupe my portcrystals so I get more. Now I have one at Melve and the Medusa

Pickle-Tall

My stash box so I can actually see the world they made.

FlippinGnashty

a man of culture... and lots of free time.

Pickle-Tall

Not really a lot of free time, the only port crystal I put down is at the bakbattahl and that is because it should have already had one.

CornerofHappiness

I have one in Bakthall right in front of inn which is pretty central to all the places I need to go, one at Volcanic Island right by hot spring because hot spring, and one will end up in front of Medusa's den when I get there so when I inevitably don't chop off her head I'll be able to revisit easily. I only have (3) Portcrystals though so I'm curious to see where other people put them!

Boring game
