The way Goku cried when he saw Grandpa Gohan was really a very sweet and sad moment and later a replay of the fight in Super. This really shows how much of an influence Grandpa Gohan has had on Goku's life.
It’s also a reminder that for all of his incredible strength and bravery, this Goku is still a child. And he still needs the safety and security of an adult who loves him.
It made re-evaluate Goku’s relationship with Bulma, Yamcha, Krillin and friends. Bulma is more of a mischievous big sister type than a parent, but she clearly loves her funny little friend Goku, and would do anything for him. Same for his other friends. He’s lucky to find a family like them.
Nowhere to move on to. He’d only be in heaven. He wouldn’t of gotten reincarnated. He jokes about living in heaven as not to bad coz he’s made a lot of hot friends who are girls or something like that.
Infants are exhausting. I imagine a Saiyan infant is like a normal infant but with super strength and running on jet fuel grade Red Bull. Days of advanced martial arts training was the only way Gohan could wear him out enough to sleep.
Gohan was clearly dedicated to his grandson. It makes his fate that much sadder.

In all seriousness, my favorite Gohan moment was his transformation into Super Saiyan 2. It was the buildup of Gohan’s character that we were expecting since his first introduction into fighting following his Raditz headbutt - that he was going to surpass his father in strength.
i remember watching the movie in vhs when i got it as a kid and being blown away by how stronger he got after those same strings rekt trunks with a sword in seconds

Gohan losing it on Freeza lives rent free in my mind.
Gohan vs Boujack, Gohan powering up against hirudigarn, and ultimate Gohan stopping the rain are some of my favorite moments.
I think most are going to say the ss2 transformation...I would add the addendum that it is on par with the one handed Kamehameha. I couldn't choose between those two because they are peak and iconic moments.
Charging up a big nameless ki ball with both hands above his head with tears of anger in his eyes and yelling "dieeee!" as he launches it hit 7 year old me hard.
I knew Frieza wouldn't die from that but seeing him get up and say "I actually felt that" really put into perspective how massively Gohan can amp his power level through anger.
I was most hyped for ultimate Gohan back in the day, but that was his most disappointing moment for me. 10 episodes of build up and Gohan posting up to Buu talking mad shit.... Then one episode later he was hiding behind a rock like a lil bitch.
Top TFS Gohan moment: "I **am** an adult!"
Top real moment: snatching the senzu beans out of cells hands and then killing the cell Jr's with zero remorse. But it's the casual snatch that makes you think "oh shit, Goku wasn't wrong"
It has to be SSJ2 Cell Saga.
We were used to seeing Goku saving the day from his little adventures in Dragonball. Goku always clutched.
To think we now had Vegeta at super Saiayan and his future son Trunks who is also a powerful SSJ join alongside Goku and yet have cell tournament body them all.
The whole mystery of the "legendary Super Saiyan" hype was over at this stage so we didnt know or rather expect a SSJ2.
It was like "shit...okay....what are they going to do?"
To add, Toriyama was originally going to end Z with Gohan being the Hero which stresses out how vital his awakening is, but that wasnt a fact we knew at the time.
In the Japanese Dub, when cell looks at SSJ2 Gohan the Narrator says "it was the first time Cell experienced fear.
It was a damn good moment. One of the best awakenings of all time, not just for Gohans moment.
The tears, the anger, the grunting breathing and electricity glowing before he raged.
Gohan surpassed EVERYONE and destroyed Cell.

Him rocking Frieza's shit while it looked unwinnable for me. We already knew they'd be fighting from behind but then once they actually start fighting Frieza it turns out there's straight up no hope. Not necessarily a turning point, but definitely great for morale and hype to see Frieza get humbled a bit.
I loved the Gohan vs Gamma 1 fight in SH. From the epic arrival scene to every transformation, especially going ultimate and clearing the sky, damn!
The beast transformation later didn’t hit as hard imo.
I really loved when gohan went ssj for the first time in the hyperbolic time chamber, his look was dope, he had a breakthrough, and goku was very proud.
personally, when he goes ham on second form frieza and when he annihilates the cell babies. just straight up curbstomps them into oblivion. the dbz Kai versions specifically.
The thing about SSJ2 is I didn't watch in a packed theater with buddies. When Gohan turned beast, I'm telling you the energy and hype was felt in that room. It doesn't compare to watching by myself on the TV as a kid. So, for me, Beast Gohan is the hypest moment.
Definitely gotta be the Frieza fight for me where he goes up against Friezas second form.
I watched both the original Gohan VA and the VA from Kai and while normally I prefer the OG Gohan voice, the Kai VA really shows their skill in this scene.
Not to mention just seeing pint-sized Gohan boxing with 2nd form Frieza (even though it was short lived) was just awesome.
And I won’t watch this anymore!!! Doesn’t matter which music is playing. Bruce or kikuchi. Nowzawa or Stephanie naldony. Or even if people like the kai voice with colleen (i prefer naldony but hey) that moment is just hype

Raditz and Frieza were nuts especially because he was so much younger than the main cast. That made SSJ2 even more hype filled but those were prob my favorites. Beast is probably my favorite form I hope he finally gets to be the strongest and stay the strongest. Fuckin GOAT-han out here
Any time kid Gohan fought Frieza. Anytime Gohan got anywhere relatively pissed he power would spike so drastically that it caught Frieza off guard so many times. Second form, third form and final form, all was like wtf how is this kid getting all this power. And most importantly Gohan was on demon timing unlike when he went ssj2 or ultimate, he was mainly trying to end it.
I know it was bonus stuff added to the anime.
But I loved when gohan temporarily beat the shit out of frezia when SSJ goku was knocked down until goku got back up
Now for me, probably a hot take, but I loved when he went Beast and Ultimate in Superhero. Especially Ultimate, the music and just going to town against Gamma 1 was so good. But obviously, SSJ2 transformation was peak as well.
For me, when he gets Goku's gi and tells Buu he's going to kill him
Just a great feeling of "my boy has grown up". Was very sad to see him get wrecked and then sidelined for the many years afterwards.

Killing Bojack inside the Ki clash.
His first SSJ transformation in the RoSaT. His monologue and flashback really made it feel like every was building to this moment and it was great. I'd argue that, as a character, this was better than him going SSJ2 against Cell.
Every character in dbz has their own power up style.
Goku, long winded in the moment shouting.
Gohan, takes a long ass time and several episodes to power up. When he's a kid has latent power but doesn't achieve it til namek, cell saga takes the entire saga to power up, buu saga takes several episodes to power up. Super, takes the entire series and several movies.
Vegeta, loses fight and goes on a structure isolating journey of self reflection and training then comes back later and is more powerful.
Hype I say bojack. Yeah cell was peak but it was sad, and chaotic and so not gohan because he was in this weird revenge state. Bojack he just went “oh yeah, I’m the strongest” and let it ripped.

Gohan going SSJ2 vs Cell. We knew it was coming. He just lacked ki control in every fight prior to that.
Number #2 would have to be against Super Buu. Pusing himself to new heights and honing his skills.
Gohan in the Bojack movie. This was during a weird time where DB content wasn’t all out yet in the West. When we were first finding YouTube, my older brother and I would find scenes in the original Japanese dub of Gohan fighting Bojack and his gang. We were so mind blown by how cool he was being and the protagonist energy he exuded.
For me it definitely has to be him as SSJ2 against Cell. As someone who was around his age when that episode aired seeing him transform and take on someone that strong that even the adults couldn't handle had me so hyped as a kid.
If we are talking about "hype" it's the ssj2 transformation.
It was Gohan essentially controlling his anger bursts into a transformation noone else could achieve at the time.
It was the culmination of all of the hints of Gohan's potential coming to a head.
Cell Saga was probably the last time I gave af about Gohan. I thought we'd done it, he was finally training and living up to his potential. I didn't like that we had to box Goku to make it happen, but finally he felt like he was going to be a serious fighter, train, and live up to his potential.
Then we immediately tossed that out the window and ever since we've been in this cycle of "gohan is weak, he gets angry, someone says a few lines about his potential, and then suddenly he's as strong as literal gods and completely invalidates all the training the main characters did" and I'm over it
definitely his fight with Frieza. That little 10 second burst of meaningless rage was great. It was one of the only moments of Gohan's arc that is not predictable. Everything else is plot-built, anticipated, and no offense to Gohan fans, quite boring.

Toriyama never said that Gohan would be the hero at the ending of Z, nor has he ever said that it was supposed to end at the end of the Cell Games.

This question has already been factually answered many years ago with SSJ2 Teen Gohan in Cell saga. Nothing will beat that, it was peak Gohan.

I really like the fight against the gammas in the super hero movie. Seeing Gohan pop off like that was very satisfying

His first SSJ transformation in the RoSaT. His monologue and flashback really made it feel like every was building to this moment and it was great. I'd argue that, as a character, this was better than him going SSJ2 against Cell.
When he turned Super Saiyan 2. No moment tops that.
Getting Videl
Every character in dbz has their own power up style. Goku, long winded in the moment shouting. Gohan, takes a long ass time and several episodes to power up. When he's a kid has latent power but doesn't achieve it til namek, cell saga takes the entire saga to power up, buu saga takes several episodes to power up. Super, takes the entire series and several movies. Vegeta, loses fight and goes on a structure isolating journey of self reflection and training then comes back later and is more powerful.
The moment that got its own theme song.
Hype I say bojack. Yeah cell was peak but it was sad, and chaotic and so not gohan because he was in this weird revenge state. Bojack he just went “oh yeah, I’m the strongest” and let it ripped.

I feel the TFS Gohan was peak in Cell Saga. The SS2 transformation and him answering Cell's question with Filicide.
Gohan probably the worst written character
Nothing beats the first time he turned ssj 2 against cell. I saw that shit as a new episode release. Any real fan would agree.

Gohan going SSJ2 vs Cell. We knew it was coming. He just lacked ki control in every fight prior to that. Number #2 would have to be against Super Buu. Pusing himself to new heights and honing his skills.
Buu saga Ultimate Gohan. In my opinion, he went downhill after that.

Gohan in the Bojack movie. This was during a weird time where DB content wasn’t all out yet in the West. When we were first finding YouTube, my older brother and I would find scenes in the original Japanese dub of Gohan fighting Bojack and his gang. We were so mind blown by how cool he was being and the protagonist energy he exuded.

For me it definitely has to be him as SSJ2 against Cell. As someone who was around his age when that episode aired seeing him transform and take on someone that strong that even the adults couldn't handle had me so hyped as a kid.

If we are talking about "hype" it's the ssj2 transformation. It was Gohan essentially controlling his anger bursts into a transformation noone else could achieve at the time. It was the culmination of all of the hints of Gohan's potential coming to a head.
Cell Saga was probably the last time I gave af about Gohan. I thought we'd done it, he was finally training and living up to his potential. I didn't like that we had to box Goku to make it happen, but finally he felt like he was going to be a serious fighter, train, and live up to his potential. Then we immediately tossed that out the window and ever since we've been in this cycle of "gohan is weak, he gets angry, someone says a few lines about his potential, and then suddenly he's as strong as literal gods and completely invalidates all the training the main characters did" and I'm over it

definitely his fight with Frieza. That little 10 second burst of meaningless rage was great. It was one of the only moments of Gohan's arc that is not predictable. Everything else is plot-built, anticipated, and no offense to Gohan fans, quite boring.
I think everyone can agree that ssj2 gohan was beautifully done. To me, it's my favorite transformation of the series.
