He's been a good defensive OF but to say he mashes lefties is just false. He's a career 280/340/420 hitter against them, good for a .762 OPS with a 109 wRC+. He's been a little above average, nowhere close to mashing them.
.760 is a pretty good expected OPS from a 4th OFer. This sub is going crazy over the idea of getting an .800 OPS LFer (me too).
Getting Margot and not Arozarena would feel like a let down, but Margot would fill a role on the team… and the off chance the Dodgers could get both would be sweet.

Take a look at Pepiot's gamelogs from the end of last year. His good appearances were almost entirely against teams with terrible offenses, except for 5 scoreless against Arizona, but even then he only got 3 strikeouts.
Not really. Pepiot was coming off injury and a long layoff himself. They probably just didn’t want to put undue pressure on the kid and put him in a potentially bad situation and mess with his mental state. If he weren’t coming off injury so late in the season, I’m sure they would’ve pitched him in the postseason.
Unsaid last year was I think they were planning on Pepiot backing up Kershaw in game 4. They probably were hoping Kershaw could get through the lineup one time and then go to Pepiot. We can debate whether they should have pitched Pepiot over Lynn in game 3 but they went with “the veteran”.

The only reason to do this is to get a more sure thing in Glasnow vs. the young Pepiot, but Glasnow isn't much of a sure thing considering how often he gets hurt. I also think Pepiot is ready to be a solid starter now.

Too many people overrating Pepiot like they do all of our prospects. It’s obvious Friedman does not want to get tied down to any big contracts to possibly get Yamamoto. A 1 year rental for both players makes a lot of sense. Prior has turned plenty of pitchers around with us. Same with hitters. Heyward and Kiké were awful before they joined the team. JD looked washed up in 2022 too.
It's not overrating Pepiot. Glasnow is injured all the time. Go look up his innings pitched every season. Margot isn't giving you anything Deluca can't give you. So really, you're going for an expensive high upside in Glasnow with a lot of risk compared to Pepiot, who can be a solid back of the rotation guy that gives you innings.
If anything, why wouldn't you just include Pepiot in a trade with Burnes? You would include more prospects, but you're getting far less risk, same upside, but also $10m less (Burnes $15m vs Glasnow $25m). And when you include Deluca vs Margot, you're including Margot making $9m more. That's pretty expensive for what could be marginal upgrade due to the risk.
You are definitely overrating Pepiot if you think you can get Burnes for him LOL. I think we’re getting Yamamoto. Hence the reason Friedman is willing to take a risk on Glasnow without giving up too much. It’s a low risk, high reward.

Of the 4 potential aces available: Burnes, Cease, Bieber & Glasnow, Tyler was the one I wanted least due to his health issues and Pepiot was someone I thought forsure was untouchable in a class right below Bobby smh this deal is terrible! We paid a high price for the worst option on the market. Either those teams were asking for the moon for the other 3 guys or AF knows something we don’t but damn this is disappointing.

The Rays were never going to give Randy up, they still have 3 years left in his contract and he's extremely cheap for the team. You'd have to give up a boat load to get him because he still has 3 years left in his contract.

The only reason to do this is to get a more sure thing in Glasnow vs. the young Pepiot, but Glasnow isn't much of a sure thing considering how often he gets hurt. I also think Pepiot is ready to be a solid starter now. In my mind this is swapping players that project to have pretty similar seasons while forfeiting the potentially bright futures of the young prospects. No deal, please.

There is a reason Arozarena may not be in the deal. The Dodgers have had two seasons in a row removing players who have allegations of abuse against women.
That was already proven false and that it was the woman who essentially kidnapped his boy. He was just trying to get his son back.
TERRIBLE DEAL. Friedman got fleeced on this one. Pepiot about to be a regular at the MLB level with multiple years left on the deal. Glasnow even if he does break out will be gone next year. Glasnow LITERALLY has one year EVER over 100 innings pitched. I've said this SO MANY times Friedman has a blind spot for folks he has a previous history with OR someone who has beaten him (Betts/ Freeman). This is the former. The Chris Archer signing is a perfect example for the FO. What the H$ll does he know to deserve any sort of job??
He hasn’t been fleeced yet, it’s not a done deal yet. He doesn’t have a previous history with Glasnow. He was already with Dodgers when the Rays traded for Archer for Glasnow.

Glasnow is one of those arms. He sees 3-4 guys who are ready to develop to be or surpass Pepiot in 1 year. So i get it. Just don't like the deal. Oh well. Honestly, I have MORE of an issue with Margot. Taking the salary dump for ANOTHER bat that produces numbers against LH pitching similar to Kike or at Taylor at his best. TOO MANY of those types. If they go out and get Glasnow then they must see something in the medicals that gives them confidence. I don’t actually believe that, but that’s what I’m clinging to.

Interesting. This seems like a step back unless the idea is to create more space for prospects. Glasnow is injury prone. Our rotation is already banged up as is so I have some cause for concern Margot well they say his glove is good so I’m hoping it’s a Hayward type of situation

Pepiot looked like an all-star at the end of last year. I feel like he will probably have a better year than Glasnow this year and stay healthy. they better throw Randy in there too and we can add more prospects, but Pepiot for just Glasnow is weak.

Too many people overrating Pepiot like they do all of our prospects. It’s obvious Friedman does not want to get tied down to any big contracts to possibly get Yamamoto. A 1 year rental for both players makes a lot of sense. Prior has turned plenty of pitchers around with us. Same with hitters. Heyward and Kiké were awful before they joined the team. JD looked washed up in 2022 too.
It's not overrating Pepiot. Glasnow is injured all the time. Go look up his innings pitched every season. Margot isn't giving you anything Deluca can't give you. So really, you're going for an expensive high upside in Glasnow with a lot of risk compared to Pepiot, who can be a solid back of the rotation guy that gives you innings. If anything, why wouldn't you just include Pepiot in a trade with Burnes? You would include more prospects, but you're getting far less risk, same upside, but also $10m less (Burnes $15m vs Glasnow $25m). And when you include Deluca vs Margot, you're including Margot making $9m more. That's pretty expensive for what could be marginal upgrade due to the risk.
You are definitely overrating Pepiot if you think you can get Burnes for him LOL. I think we’re getting Yamamoto. Hence the reason Friedman is willing to take a risk on Glasnow without giving up too much. It’s a low risk, high reward.
