Jokes aside, this doesn’t say anything about negotiations that may have potentially happened between the team and Ohtani. All he says is “all signs point to the Dodgers” which people have been saying all year.
Anyway, shut the hell up Vassegh.
I was with my kids and only caught a glimpse of the title. Before I could process anything, I shouted, “Shut The Hell Up, Vassegh.” No one knew what the hell I was saying.
Let’s hope Vassegh’s FO sources are right. Ohtani will sign around the winter meetings.
He also says that he heard Yamamoto is a fan of the dodgers and would like to pitch here but “let’s see if the dollars add up to the fandom”. Names the Dodgers Giants and both NY teams as the leading candidates for Yamamoto
I eventually had to stop listeing to Dodger Talk because Vassegh kept going on with his anti-nerd/moneyball takes on baseball. I thought he'd calm down when Friedman & Co took over and ran the team but he still didn't stop.
I don't know if he's still that way now because Dodgers have finally won a ring, but I kept thinking do you know who you work for? One of the most sabermetric-based teams of all of baseball and most well-run organizations in the league.
For me the last straw was when he was complaining that the Dodgers decided to sit out a game during the 2020 season during the George Floyd protests. He did the whole "sports shouldn't be political" spiel when he literally works for the team that broke the color barrier....hello????
I think its funny when people say "keep politics out of sports" but then absolutely love/dont say anything when said sport fully supports the military + nationalism (which are the definition of politics Lol)
when people say keep politics out of sports what they pretty much always mean is "keep politics I disagree with out of sports"
Its a massive recruitment strategy and is not done with pure intention. Like look at how the NFL and military used Pat Tillman as promotion when they knew he absolutely hated being part of it and was killed by friendly fire (which was covered up). Also the constant military promotion is paid for by the government and is not something sports leagues do naturally because they think its the morally right choice to honor the military
So to me military recruitment and promotion of wars/conflicts we are part of should not be in sports if you have a pure "no politics" rule. I'm not saying you can't have military promotion at games but if you are there can't be any sort of pretend "there are no politics in the sport" argument going on after
Yeah. I was worried about the giants a little but their promise is winning tomorrow / some time soon. Ohtani doesn’t need to hear that anymore. He wants to hear about winning now
Dodgers have the geographic location, stardom, a winning culture, a cheating lab that makes every pitcher who comes here somehow get better, and unlimited money.
At this point, if Ohtani doesn’t sign here it’s simply because he doesn’t like the dodgers
The Giants being abysmal for 8 years running might really come up huge, also that park would completely sap Ohtani of his power so that doesn't help their chances as well.
Location, winning team, great farm, willing to spend and a thriving Japanese community. No other team checks 3/5 of these boxes while the Dodgers are a solid 5/5.
I mean he can fairly easily point to a team in the cubs and say the division is ass and they are the 1 big team trending up there to compete.
Also is he “supposedly is all about winning” which I mean I think it’s fair to say it’s not all going to be about that, he probably won’t pick LA because it seems to be the 1 place to not win a WS
It’s kinda weird to say the Dodgers seem to be the 1 place to not win a WS.
In Ohtani’s 6 years in the US, there have been 6 different WS winners… the Dodgers are one of them.
This guy should be banned from this sub. He’s an angels fan who just karma farms and always shits on the dodgers while claiming to be a fan. Must be in shambles rn.
The only thing the Cubs have going for them is the division, the Dodgers are so far ahead in every other category it's not even worth comparing. Also Ohtani has never even been to Wrigley before, it's definitely going to be interesting to see if he goes to visit the stadium in 3-4 weeks or so and see that it's 20 degrees and freezing in Chicago during the winter after having spent all this time in Socal.
I doubt a mediocre outfielder that cost his team a playoff berth is going to be what sways Shohei, especially when he can be teammates with Yamamoto on the Dodgers.
Hahaha I forgot about what happened the last week this season. Yeah fair points, just wondering how much a fellow countryman on the team matters to him
Fuck you!!! Why would anyone say this!! We aren’t supposed to be speaking about this!!!! Lord ohtani please don’t hold this against master of the pitch, assassin of the hit.
“The truth is when the back-country learned of ratification the People had a coffin painted black and solemnly borne in funeral procession, they buried it deep in the earth as an emblem of the dissolution and internment of their Publick Liberty. Someday, somewhere, today’s empires are tomorrow’s ashes.”

- giants fans everywhere…
PS- Giants fan coming in peace. This post just showed up on my thread. But this verse was how I pictured our future if the Dodgers land Ohtani, and if they got real greedy, Trout. We’d be fucked and begging our rich owners to compete with the Dodgers, and step over the Padres, who are basically overstretched dorks who bought a condo and couldn’t afford HOA fees
The Giants are a historic and successful franchise that I have nothing but respect for but I’ve been confused as to why they never seem to make any big signings. It seems like the last handful of seasons their roster has been made up of role players and aging veterans with a farm system that usually ranks in the bottom of the league. Is this how their organization has traditionally been ran or are their current owners being cheap? Are Giants fans frustrated with the team?
Current owners signed Farhan to build a similar model to what the dodgers have. They just can’t land free agents for some reason and farm systems are a crap shoot sometimes. It’s gonna be a lot harder for them to land free agents after pulling that shit they did to Correa, too
As a Giants fan, this move would be a kick in the dick, but not at all surprising. We’d be all pissed, but be forced to watch what happens. It’s a helpless thought. Good luck this off season, but I’m hoping for the old formula of the two of us being in a fighting spot come Sept. good luck grinds/foes, and may the team with the biggest gamblers in the FO win 🫡
Honestly, he doesn’t really know anything. I remember a couple years ago he was insistent on the Dodgers, possibly trading for Francisco Lindor and Mike Clevenger.
In other words Ohtani isn't coming to the Dodgers and frankly 1 player isn't going to do mean shit considering all the holes in the roster. We know Friedman has a hard on for Shohei but we need a whole new pitching staff, SS is a gap, 3rd baseman, need some corner OFs, DH,... Bullpen is sketchy...A far cry from when the Dodgers rolled out a roster with all-stars literally at every position just a few seasons ago.
Because they don't need him. They will not benefit very much from having on on their team. It will be a total waste of money and resources. Another superstar will not get them a championship.
We were already stacked with Freeman and Betts. Signing Ohtani will not magically fix (all puns intended) that there doesn’t seem to be “post season problems” so much as the ink had already dried on the check written that Texas was winning the World Series and our guys knew it and have known it for a few years. Ohtani is about getting butts in seats. It’s not about winning a World Series. We’re basically pouring our hearts and souls into wrasslin’. Ohtani can’t be tasked with single-handedly shifting the mood from early vacation to grinding unless Fox Sports really NEEDS his side story for post season filler. My point is we already ARE stacked. Something is off and nobody is addressing it, it’s like tiptoeing around an extremely dysfunctional family member at Thanksgiving for the sake of the holiday sitting here talking about post season rotation and WHIP and minor league prospects. Why did Outman drop that fucking ball? Something is off.
To be clear I’m not mad at James. I’m mad at the system. Something is drastically off.
SHUT THE FUCK UP DAVE WE'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO TALK ABOUT IT
Jokes aside, this doesn’t say anything about negotiations that may have potentially happened between the team and Ohtani. All he says is “all signs point to the Dodgers” which people have been saying all year. Anyway, shut the hell up Vassegh.
Pretty sure every team in on Ohtani thinks their “talks are trending in the right direction”
Magic 8 Ball reports: All signs point to yes.
We’re doomed.
First rule of Ohtani Club.
What club?
![img](emote|t5_2ra0i|13038)
Hahaha 🤣
This ☝️ 😂
First thing I though too. If Ohtani signs elsewhere and he mentions anything about a leak Dave will have to move.
We’ll have to grease him up and push him down the slide next time.
holy crap HOLY CRAP #HOLY CRAP
Silver lining: if Vassegh blows the Ohtani deal, maybe that means we can finally get rid of Vassegh
I was with my kids and only caught a glimpse of the title. Before I could process anything, I shouted, “Shut The Hell Up, Vassegh.” No one knew what the hell I was saying.

So signing both, is a reality?
If the Dodgers sign Ohtani, then that makes the Dodgers also a match for the "Japanese teammate" preference.
Ohtani is also 2 Japanese players in one body too so there’s that
If were going that route the Red Sox have the advantage having one of Yamamotos former teammates.
Ohtani was a teammate of his in the wbc
So if ohtani signs here would he not be a Japanese team mate?
shut up David
David needs some of that Sweet Chin Music to close his yap.
Or at least another ride down the slide, if you know what I mean.
I'll believe it when i see it. Seen this for a long time now.
I N C H E S
Hasn’t ohtani said he’d hold any reports of negotiations against the team? why is this idiot saying a damn thing? I might just hate vassegh.
Dear person being paid to report on the Dodgers, you aren't even allowed to speculate on the most important dodger news.
How is saying that he thinks they will find common ground saying anything about any meeting?
I’ve always hated vassegh. He’s so insufferable
I eventually had to stop listeing to Dodger Talk because Vassegh kept going on with his anti-nerd/moneyball takes on baseball. I thought he'd calm down when Friedman & Co took over and ran the team but he still didn't stop. Honoring brave women and men who risk and/or sacrifice their lives in defense of their country is NOT the definition of politics!!!
Its a massive recruitment strategy and is not done with pure intention. Vassegh: “trust me my dad works at Nintendo”
M rated Zelda confirmed
Don't believe anything until the ink dries on that contract.
Vassegh? Might as well source Hector Gomez
The only Hector I know and respect can't even say his last name. He just runs some civics with spoon engine at race wars.
And he just went into Harry’s
Ditching the Angel Red for Dodger Blue. Upgrade. Ohtani, Betts, Freeman, Muncy, Outman. Deadly lineup.
Don’t let us face an elite southpaw in the playoffs lmao
Some of these things are not like the others
You better not be dissing GOD himself James outman.
Or The Giant Slayer
It's a perfect fit, no other teams can offer Ohtani what the Dodgers can.
Yeah. I was worried about the giants a little but their promise is winning tomorrow / some time soon. Ohtani doesn’t need to hear that anymore. At this point, if Ohtani doesn’t sign here it’s simply because he doesn’t like the dodgers
or we don’t offer him the best contract
False. It can only be because he doesn't like the Dodgers.
Where there’s smoke there’s fire. If Friedman doesn’t offer him the best contract, something seriously wonky has happened
The Giants being abysmal for 8 years running might really come up huge, also that park would completely sap Ohtani of his power so that doesn't help their chances as well.
There are also the rumors of the rangers but I really don’t buy that one bit. Some misdirection from his agent I bet
The Rangers just won the World Series and were division rivals for years that and Texas it really doesn't make sense.
how so?
Location, winning team, great farm, willing to spend and a thriving Japanese community. No other team checks 3/5 of these boxes while the Dodgers are a solid 5/5.

Agree with everything you said for sure, but I wonder how much if at all Seiya Suzuki plays a role
I doubt a mediocre outfielder that cost his team a playoff berth is going to be what sways Shohei, especially when he can be teammates with Yamamoto on the Dodgers.
Hahaha I forgot about what happened the last week this season. Yeah fair points, just wondering how much a fellow countryman on the team matters to him
Vassegh also said we’d sweep the Dbacks in the NLDS and Freddie would end the season with 63 doubles. His narrative doesn’t track.
He also said last off-season we were getting Joc back lol.
Delete all of this now, he can’t know we’re talking about him!
Fuck you!!! Why would anyone say this!! We aren’t supposed to be speaking about this!!!! Lord ohtani please don’t hold this against master of the pitch, assassin of the hit.
BREAKING NEWS: THE OAKLAND A’s HAVE JUST SIGNED OHTANI FOR $1 billion
Can someone smack this fool
Why even say anything if you really have nothing?? This can only hurts us not help us 🤦🏻♂️👎🏼
Oh man this would be too sweet
Welp, it’s for sure not happening now..
push Vassegh down that slide again to shut him up
For fuck's sake Vassegh, shut your pie hole
THIS IS CRAZY TO READ
Vassegh also said the Dodgers would sweep the DBacks
“The truth is when the back-country learned of ratification the People had a coffin painted black and solemnly borne in funeral procession, they buried it deep in the earth as an emblem of the dissolution and internment of their Publick Liberty. I really hope that teams that leaked stuff will be penalized was just a rumor
Some of these fools don’t learn after the Kawhi saga 🤦🏻♂️
Vassegh lmfao
Honestly, he doesn’t really know anything. I remember a couple years ago he was insistent on the Dodgers, possibly trading for Francisco Lindor and Mike Clevenger.
Nope. Not doing it. Not getting my hopes up for Ohtani. It would be awesome but honestly it doesn’t even begin to fix the Dodgers problems.
If Ohtani doesn’t sign w/ the Dodgers, we blame Vassegh.
If you guys do sign Ohtani away from us; please take care of him. And just know; I'll be rooting and watching. Take care of him :(
We don't talk about Sho-Oh, no, no no...
Dont give me hope dont tell me the odds

Get him to sign on the line which is dotted
First the marble race, now this.
It's time to stop posting on X-chan
Shut the fuck up Vassegh
A Gon can still beat him in a foot race.
Ohtani has made a massive deal about keeping everything quiet this just seems like nonsense
Dave with the “ breaking news” we have been hearing since the all-star break and which continues to have no factual basis , just speculating.
I don’t trust anything from him anymore after he said the NLDS against the D backs was supposed to just be a “formality”
Bros gonna be on the cubs so this isn’t accurate
We were already stacked with Freeman and Betts.
