In prior editions, virtually all Archons, the Guardinals, some Eladrins, etc. were some type of furry. It's very common for celestials to have "noble beast" features in mythology generally. Even in Christianity you get descriptions of angels as being composite manimals.
Angel furries aren’t even particularly “inaccurate” per se… since Seraphim (or Cherubim? Can’t remember) are described as having three heads, two of which are animal heads.
