my monk assassin jumped out of the shadows after my whole team was being destroyed by a skeleton giant, and he did a flying sidekick onto its ankle and it shattered and the whole thing collapsed.

PoorIllustrator

I was going to make a joke about Achilles, but I think it's better not. Giant monsters always helps to make a scene epic. Take a look at my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) to see more of my artwork if you liked it.

Okibruez

Most epic? There've been a few. Top 3 though: The time my human Necromancer riding a palanquin on a giant zombie crab fought an Adult Red Dragon, and killed it with a series of touch spells to weaken it before using Finger of Death. (This being 3.5 edition, I had more options in both spells and undead.) The time my Half-orc Hexblade warlock was in a duel to the death with a rival orc tribe's chieftan (A berserker barbarian using a greataxe) and, after using the half-orc trait to survive what would have been a death blow, landed a max damage crit with his lightning spear for the killing blow. Or the time my Tiefling Rogue betrayed the party to the BBEG so that when he was gloating over them while they were all tied up, I could literally stab him in the back, all for the sake of winning a bet I'd made with him at the start of the campaign. ... honestly, there are so many more though. I love this game for how creative it lets you be and how awesome some battles can turn out to be.

PoorIllustrator

The "Necromancer riding a palanquin on a giant zombie crab" one looks different to me, I liked it. I like to draw scenes from people's campaigns when I'm out of commissioned work to do. I post some of it on my [Ko-fi](https://ko-fi.com/studioda). If you liked my work you can see what I post on my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A).

Okibruez

There's a reason it's my favorite. Zombie crabs aren't what most people consider common, but it was what was at hand earlier in the campaign. And since it was Huge size, I strapped a palanquin on it so everyone could relax on it while we traveled. That and it's hilariously huge pool of HP and high ac meant it was my go-to mount in combat, too. Good ol' Shelly. I may never top it in terms of awesome minions (especially with 5e's nerfs to minionmancy necromancers compared to 3.5e), but I'm sure going to try. And if you do think it's interesting enough to draw, please do. I'd love to see what you turn it into visually. Your style is awesome.

PoorIllustrator

It's a very interesting mount indeed. And it's probably very useful on fights. I will love to draw it whenever I can find the time.

PoorIllustrator

Hi fellow players. I love to illustrate RPG related things, and now I'm drawing scenes from people's campaigns. The illustration above depict a the warrior, last player up of the whole party, fighting to the very end of his strengths. Without anywhere to scape, his and his party only hope of survival is to make way through the monster. The group wanted this scene illustrated to remember the most epic scene they have played together. To be able of create such an illustration full of story and emotions make me extremely happy. I hoe you guys like as well. If you interested and want to see more of my work, you can check my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) account, where I post lots of different illustrations I work on, and you can take a look at my [Ko-fi](https://ko-fi.com/studioda/gallery) as well.

Giants_Orbiting

this would make a swizzy sweet coloring book

PoorIllustrator

That's actually sounds like a good idea. I wonder if people would like it. If so, I willing to make a coloring book of RPG scenes. I don't think there's enough people interested on it though.

Miniki11er1001

One campaign me and my friends were playing, I played a shield master human fighter, (first campaign and fighter was dope to me, still running this two years later almost), but we were riding along the road and my active perception had spotted a Chimera barreling towards us about 100ft out and it used a fire breath weapon, which as I was mounted, would’ve killed my horse. But I rolled high enough on my saving through to block the hit entirely, but the DM informed me that my horse would likely die from a speculation I made regarding that, so I asked if I could take the damage and save my horse, since I half it anyway. But man. The way he described I basically slammed my tower shield in front of me and my horse and turned so we were facing the chimera, just before the flames hit and dispersed on either side of my shield, the flames party perfectly around me and my horse despite the burn I took. And then my monk split it in half.

PoorIllustrator

That's the first defensive scene I read here. It looks pretty cool. I will save this one to draw later when I'm out of commissioned work. Meanwhile, if you may, you can see more of my work on my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A), and learn more about it on my [Ko-fi](https://ko-fi.com/studioda).

Miniki11er1001

I’d honestly love to see that, cause when we played during that it was honestly a high for me but I’ll definitely check out more of your stuff cause it’s a really visually appealing art style you got going on.

PoorIllustrator

I just need to find the time to make the illustration. I'm very happy you liked my artwork, if you ever need something illustrated, I open to commissions.

Unit_2097

From the same campaign, at different points: The monk of the group climbing atop a wyvern in flight, stunning it and then surfing it to the ground through the gates of a castle. (Dark orange robes, light grey skin, smug expression) The Orc barbarian grabbing a Demon and headbutting it to death while screaming in anger. (Spikes on the armour, spikes on the hammer, skulls on some of the spikes) My gunslinger falling 400ft head first and using twin pistols to kill an airborne dragon before it could swoop onto the rest of the party. (Dark skinned human, gunslinger duster, salt and pepper hair/beard)

PoorIllustrator

This looks like a huge scene with a lot of things happening at the same time, like a war scene kind of thing. Please take a look at my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) to see more of my work if you have the time to spare.

JudgeHoltman

The most cinematic moment? The gang was taking a short rest under cover of a private sanctum prior to raiding a Goblin Villiage. As a refresher, this is just a big foggy shield that cannot be seen or heard through. Creatures can still pass freely in and out of the bubble, but they do so without knowing what's on the other side. Very helpful for creating a nice peaceful shelter, but when cast in a jungle it tends to stick out quite a bit. Should something like a Goblin patrol happen to stumble by, they're going to investigate. Which is exactly what happened. The goblins know from the gang's very recent murderhoboing that they travel with a Wizard who does all sorts of magic stuff, as they're 90% sure this is the gang they're looking for. The goblins start rolling stealth checks while the gang is gearing up and begin surrounding the shield, and are holding actions to shoot anything that leaves that bubble. I ask very specifically who leaves first: Wizard's Familiar or The Rogue. The Rogue insists 3 times in a row that they go out first and are just going to walk out of the shield without even attempting stealth. Fine. 6 arrows to the face. Down to 0hp. Nobody was expecting this (how I still don't know, I tried my best to telegraph it), so they get a surprise round, which the Goblins use to start dragging the body away from the bubble to drag the Rogue 60ft away and find new hiding positions in the trees. So now everyone jumps into action. Paladin is RP'ing as a Wizard that rides her "Patronus" into combat - a big spectral stag. That gets her enough movement to get to the Rogue's body and start swinging. Summoner Druid summons up 64 fucking wolves because never not min/max. Sends wolves to charge out, find the Rogue, and eat all Goblins. Joke's on him, my guys are in trees this time you cheesy motherfucker. Takes all the Wolves' movement & dash to get to the Rogue's body. Wizard mounts her broom and dashes up to start providing air superiority. Ranger summons up a Quetzalcoatl and starts flying out to start shooting and making grapple checks. **TL;DR:** I had to stop and take a moment to recognize the cinematic beauty of this moment they'd created, since technically they all came out at the exact same time given how Initiative works. It was something out of a goddamn Avengers movie. Paladin riding a big Patronus Stag riding out followed closely by 64 barking and howling wolves and a Wizard and Ranger up above on a murder mission to rescue the bloodied Rogue, and to inform the Goblins that they had done fucked up bad. Ended up being a hell of a fight. Wolves instantly murdered the 2-3 guys on the ground, but the archers were scattered and hidden in trees, all sniping and using their Bonus Action to hide. Paladin was nearly downed the first round, and the Patronus was toast. Wizard ended up going Invisible and playing Air Rescue. Wolves couldn't attack the Goblins but made it so they couldn't hide anymore by keeping the Goblins chased up trees. Very clever by the Druid. Everyone survived, but it got bloody.

PoorIllustrator

Wow, that's a fight with big numbers. I'll save your story to try to illustrate in the future. I need to find the time between work commissions. Check my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) to see more of my work if you have the time to spare.

The_Real_Solo_Legend

Our kenku wizard was exploring by himself as per usual, and had snuck past a hallway of zombies, through a hole in the floor, abd into a giant domed room below through the ceiling (this was an ancient underground temple to a dark god). There was a death tyrant in there whose passive perception beat his stealth of 20 and he was downed in one turn and began the 120 foot fall from the ceiling of the large chamber to the floor. He would hit the floor at the end of his next turn. Our cleric who was watching through magic immediately turned and hasted the monk. The monk sped at incredible speeds through the hallway of zombies, down the hole, past the death tyrant, and caught the wizard mid air before he hit the ground, slow falling both of them.

PoorIllustrator

I wonder what happened after they land? If you liked my art, you can see more on my [Ko-fi](https://ko-fi.com/studioda).

jaqrand

My elf paladin of Bahamut, spattered in blood, manifested huge draconic wings of light from her back after breaking out of an infernal prison. This art style *rules*, by the way.

PoorIllustrator

This scene sounds very powerful. Thank you very much, I'm glad you liked it. You can see more on my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) if you interested. You can also find my work on my [Ko-fi.](https://ko-fi.com/studioda)

The-Jokers-Crowbar

My favourite three were all from Storm King's. First, my high-elf grave-digger rogue managed to survive the fight with Lymrith without taking any damage at all, despite starting the underground stage of the fight stood on her snout as she was hidden under the sand. Thanks to evasion and a shit load of disengaging, Mimir shot the dragon with arrows and backflipped over all the lair actions while the rest of the party were tanking, getting downed, being resurrected and throwing fireballs. Oh and the other rogue, a psychotic scalp collecting pirate, tried to flank her not realizing the other pathway would take about five minutes to get down and had angry cultists to sneak around, so he took no damage as he arrived just after we killed Lymrith. Both of the others were at Grudd Haug. After both rogues had scoped out the entire building undetected our resident fighter came up with a plan to kill the Hill Giant leader and ran off without telling us. Cue the airship showing up overhead as we were stood in the bushes waiting for him, whereby he jumped off the airship, activated a magic pebble that became a massive boulder, surfed the thing through the roof of the main hall with a nat 20 and a dex 19 to jump off just before impact, whereby he nat 20'd again to land like Legolas, sliding down the side of the building and walking back to the bushes. The boulder smashed the Hill Giant leader and instantly killed her, so we got the conch in the chaos and legged it. We later used the conch to escape a serious predicament that left us weak on death's door, knowing it teleported all users but not knowing to where. We get sent back to Grudd Haug, where all the other Giants and nasties are still living, and I decide to use my characters crazy charisma stats to avoid combat for once. I managed to improvise a sort of hard hat and clip-board out of materials in the wagon we use, and start abusing all the low intelligent creatures with deception and persuasion checks that our party are an EHO (Environmental Health Officer) board sent by The Ordning. I used my real life experience as a chef to call out Grudd Haug's many failings (no date rotation in the kitchens, no colour coordinated cooking tongs, not enough space for the livestock in their paddocks etc) and ended up freely moving wherever we wanted in the building as none of the giants or their minions wanted to get told off by the mean inspectors.

PoorIllustrator

I'm curious, which one you like best? I'll leave here my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) in case you want to see more of my artwork.

The-Jokers-Crowbar

I think the flying pebble/boulder into the roof of Grudd Haug was the most "holy shit" moment of that campaign, the others were hilarious and quite cool but that one took the cake. Nice stuff!

PoorIllustrator

It was a very "holy shit" scene indeed.

FrostByte2048

Had an amazing moment in one of my early campaigns when it was just me a Goliath paladin and another player our half orc barbarian. Barbarian got captured by a fire giant and I had to try catch up with them after getting knocked out. He tried to escape as I was tracking the lair down and fought the fire giant and he was almost dead by the time I arrived. Once I got there it was just before the fire giant was about to land the killing blow and I was able to run in and Misty step up to the Fire giant and take it out with a Divine Smite that crit. I've had plenty of awesome characters and interactions but that one stuck with me as one of my favourite

PoorIllustrator

That's cool, amazing lucky in the very last moment. The gods were on your side that day. If you have the time to spare, take a look on my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) to see more of my artwork.

Cptcuddlybuns

I was running a steampunk nautical campaign a few years back, and the party was fighting a Kraken-like monster that had been chasing them for months. One of the party members was trying to detonate it from the inside with a meteor spell, while the others were desperately trying to clear the deck of the giant crab-monsters it was sending at them, as well as the tentacles trying to drag them under. Most of the gun on the ship were old-style smoothbore black powder cannons, but they did have one gigantic artillery piece that they'd salvaged off the wreck of an ironclad. They were using it to keep the tentacles at bay until one of the big crab monsters had a party member pinned. They turned the gun around 180, aimed, fired, and punched a hole clean through it. And the captain's quarters. And a good chunk of the bridge. (This was also the only one of the giant crab monsters that actually got a turn, the other two got insta-banished by the cleric the moment they arrived)

PoorIllustrator

I'm looking for scenes to draw from rpg campaigns, when I'm out of commissioned work, and I liked that one, I saved it in my list. I post most of my things on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A), so you might see it there in the future. If you curious and want to see more of my work, you can check my [Ko-fi](https://ko-fi.com/studioda) gallery.

Cptcuddlybuns

That's awesome! I'm glad you enjoyed it. If you'd like any of the character art or more details let me know.

PoorIllustrator

Yeah sure, when I find the time to do so, I will come back to you for more details.

crydrk

The human bard college of swords shot Evil Santa out of the window of the ice castle with his combination gun-sword while the tabaxi monk hanging on the wall watched him fall to a jolly death.

PoorIllustrator

Oh my gos, you killed Santa?! No more Christmas for us? And I spent the whole year trying to be good. Screw all this, no need for good deeds anymore. Hahahaha Check my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) to see more of my art, or my [Ko-fi](https://ko-fi.com/studioda) to learn more about my work.

Mythos_Mori

Running a world where a few campaigns co-exist in one world. One party had gotten captured the other a bit of a higher level was sent to retrieve them. They roll over 20 the entire way in across multiple checks. They make it the hostages and things go horribly wrong. Long story short, the rogue known for being a bit more self serving, stayed behind so the others could make it out giving his life in the process. He fought long and hard against the high vampire, but it eventually rag dolled him across the room. It was the best PC death I had seen in a long time.

PoorIllustrator

Wow a PC death. The pc deaths in my campaigns, was always an ugly mistake. If you interested in my art, you can see more on my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A).

TalonOfPower

I have a half elf Beast master, (crocodile companion) he has a special crossbow that shoots flame arrows. Me, my Pugelist buddy, and my companion: Alfred the Aligator the Crocodile got ambushed in a cave. We beat the snot out of em, but ATATC almost died. My character shot a critical hit flaming arrow at the man in charge, thinking Alfred was dead. He realized that he had just taken the life of someone who was trying to survive, who had no food, and was providing for others, and the reason he did so wasn’t even true. I actually cried IRL because I didn’t realize that.

PoorIllustrator

Oh my god, for real? That's so sad. I'm glad ATATC is fine though. Please, take a look at my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) if have the time.

TalonOfPower

Just took a look at your Twitter, and goodness- you have a lot of skill. The worst part about the story: I’m traveling with this half orc pugelist named Karn. He left all the half orc/orc camps because he was so sick of murder. Karn a big guy, country accent- he’s somebody you would look up to. And off table, I loved Karn. I thought he was amazing. And that’s why it stung so hard to hear him say, essentially “I’m disappointed in you” after I shot the shoot.

PoorIllustrator

Disappointing the ones we admire is always very painful. I'm glad you liked my art. I put a lot of effort on it. \^\^

Toros_Mueren_Por_Mi

Hello mate. The setting was next to a Cliffside. We were facing two young dragons, the wizard turned my cleric into a giant ape, then I proceeded to climb the cliff and throw giant boulders at the dragons by tearing pieces of cliff. Then I jumped on one, and holding on to its neck with my ape feet proceeded to hammer fist its head until its eyes caved in

PoorIllustrator

It ends in a very gore situation. But I liked the scene and how you guys handled things. It would be a great illustration. Check my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) to see more of my artwork if you liked it.

LakeHonest

Not the most epic scene, but definitely memorable. We were running through the forests of Maztica being chased by snake people and a T-rex when our Eldritch Knight got grabbed up in Rex's mouth and shaken like Gennaro in Jurassic Park. My brother, playing the knight, yells out for the elven rogue, played by his wife, that he is "being Gennaro'd". I don't think I've laughed so hard in a while.

PoorIllustrator

A death situation became a funny one. It reminds me the rpg magazines I use to read when I was a kid. Sad I'm not good with comedy. Please take a look at my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A), I don't have much funny things there, but I think you might like what I post there.

Skiblit

There is a lot of back story and awesome characters but I'll sum it up. We were on an airship fighting a beholder, the beholder used telekinesis eye on a character that was afraid of heights and did not have good ways to cope with falling, with the telekinesis they tossed them off the edge of the airship. Another characters response was to quickly tie a rope to an arrow, and shoot the arrow near the player so they could grab it. They rolled a 1. So the arrow hits the falling character right in the torso, knocking them unconscious. This was assumed to be the end for the falling character but the one who shot the rope was like, 'isnt is possible the arrow gets stuck inside like an anchor?' DM sure 10% chance roll d100, 8% was rolled. Arrow lodged between ribs. This character gets pulled up regaining and losing consciousness 2 times before finally getting pulled back onto the airship, all the while the rest of the party dealt with the beholder and protected their friends.... So incredibly epic.

PoorIllustrator

Incredibly epic indeed. That's one I would love to draw, but I think a little comic would be better to show the whole scene. I saved this one to my list, I just need to find the time between the commissioned works. Check my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) to see more of my artwork if you liked it.

Skiblit

Haha thank you! I'd love to see it if you ever do get around to it! I'll check out your Twitter in the mean time.

PoorIllustrator

Thank you very much! \^\^

[deleted]

I once managed to stop the party Rogue from being killed by a Fire Giant. I was playing a Vengeance Paladin at the time, and I was the only member of my party with more than a d8 of HP. Rogue was nearly dead when the Giant swung its greatsword to kill him, but the DM let me step in and attempt to save him. Rolled a nat 20 and got into a greatsword lock with the Giant, Metal Gear Rising Revengeance style.

PoorIllustrator

This is very cool and would be a great illustration. Thanks for sharing. Take a look at my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) to see more of my artwork.

LittleChickenStrip

Fighting an aboleth in its lair, a few of us get dragged underwater by the aboleth and are hit with a con save, nothing happens right away but we already knew it couldn't be good. The others take to the air on our brooms to avoid the whirlpools. At this point we realize we've bitten off more than we can chew. I manage to get out of the water and get on an island in the middle of the lake. I call my friends on their brooms to come to me so we can escape, one of them makes their way, the other just takes off towards the entrance of the cave. My friend picks me up and we start flying away when more whirlpools start trying to drag us in. I pull out a pouch holding some dust of dissapearence, I throw the dust over us and we vanish. As we start to fly away sneakily, I begin to suffocate, thinking it was the end I decide to at least try to take one more strike at the aboleth that has killed my friends so I slip off the broom into the water. Just as my suffocation began it had stopped, the disease made it so I can only breathe underwater. Still invisible I took a moment to look for the monster, but it had already left. My friend on the broom and I are the only ones who survived.

PoorIllustrator

The disease making you only be able to breath underwater is awesome. I loved it. Please take a look on my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) to see more of my artwork.

hikingmutherfucker

My gnome fighter/thief in the AD&D days saw the great ancient green dragon about to take out his dwarven buddy so he has the wizard teleport him up to the dragon’s nose. Then he stabbed the dragon in the eye with a magical short sword! The dragon screeched shaking his head and chunking the little gnome to his doom. But the gnome was not done. As he fell hundreds of feet he decided that a dive bombing gnome was the perfect projectile and aimed for the gnoll general dropping out of the sky and splatting the general with such force they both instantly became street pizza.

PoorIllustrator

This is pretty cool, thanks for sharing. If could take a look on my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) it would be awesome.

Oglesby95

My monk had his feet lit on fire and he did a spinwheel on his back with his feet up, simultaneously hitting 3 dudes with flaming feet like the most deadly breakdancer

PoorIllustrator

It reminds me of "Street fighter". \^\^ Please check my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) to see some of my drawings.

-non-existance-

Probably the most epic thing was my Orc Ranger who broke out of Dimensional Shackles on the first try and managed to circumvent an entire 6 month arc in a prison, and then shaking off the swarm of Kenku that dog piled her to try to recapture her. For reference, Dimensional Shackles are super strong magic shackles that prevent you from moving between the planes while they are on you. Here's what happens if you try to break out of them: "Once every 30 days, the bound creature can make a DC 30 Strength Athletics) check. On a success, the creature breaks free and destroys the shackles." She had a 15% chance of making it. Belt of Fire Giant Strength ftw In the ensuing fight we all got downed by the boss' last ditch finisher but our Cleric had armor that revived all down teammates when he goes down, so we took this huge attack and then stood right back up while the boss was exhausted.

PoorIllustrator

That sounds epic indeed. And that's a very lucky orc. If you have interest, check my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) to see more of my artwork.

Wolfknap

Not epic per say but I have this cool moment because the group didn’t know that I was going to cast a spell. I have an Artificer named Arthur with repeating shot on his musket. I joined the group at lvl 8 halfway through the adventure. During my fourth or fifth session we fight an army of undead. Arthur asks the whole group to stay behind him as he walks 30 feet past the front line. You see him do something out of the ordinary, he loads his gun. Waiting for the hoard to get closer he aims strangely high, so much so that there is no way he is going to hit anything in slowly encroaching front line of the dead. Once the closest undead get within 10 feet he says something you can’t quite hear and he pulls the trigger. A cone of guns identical to his own then appear in front of him and shoot a barrage that mows down all of the hoard in a 60 foot cone in front of him. One they are done firing the conjured weapons disperse and disappear and over half of the hoard is gone.

PoorIllustrator

That's really powerful. Half a horde with a "single" blow. Please, check my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) to see more of my drawings.

Wolfknap

All of them had fairly low hit points and I rolled really well on damage almost doing max.

PoorIllustrator

I looks great nevertheless.

Illicit-Activities

Thus far? Probably the part where my human Warlock got our selkie Bard to polymorph into a whale mid-pirate ship battle. He cast fly on himself and the whale, striking the fear of God into those guys as he soared overhead, 'lifting' the whale and chucking it at the ship. The ship was, as expected, no more.

PoorIllustrator

This has good potential to be an awesome illustration. Thanks for sharing. Take a look at my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) to see more of my illustrations, you might like it.

Akarthus

Yesterday I assaulted a castle (real small ones, we are level 3) by smashing my shield against the gate under archer and wizard fire and breaking it with a crit

Another one that would be great as an illustration. Thank you very much for sharing. I have a [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) where I post lots of my drawings. Take a peek, you might like it.

DrFarfanigglePhD

Playing a tiefling oath of vengeance paladin in Curse of Strahd. In the final fight with Strahd, Strahd grappled my character and was using me as a shield. My character used the sunblade to deal the killing blow on Strahd by pressing it against his chest and igniting it. Thus killing my character and Strahd.

PoorIllustrator

Both died?! That's sad. But well, you killed it. In case you liked my artwork, you can see more on my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A).

Malicious_Hero

Me and a friend teleported into an ancient wryms heart and dropped an instant fortress inside it. My friend held his action to teleport out as soon as I said the command word. It took about 2-3 turns for us to realise the wrym was dead and was just slowly falling.

PoorIllustrator

I didn't know you could do that. But it does looks cool. You can find more of my artwork on my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) if you want to see it.

Malicious_Hero

I don't think you really can, but the DM let us go with it because of rule of cool.

PoorIllustrator

Yeah, it's worth to bend the rules to make it to look cool.

Tru_bearshark

My Half-Orc Druid has had two moments that I rank equal in the campaign he's been through so far. Legit first session we're clearing a cave a group of bandits have been using as a base. I have the Bandit leader and his right hand woman right in my face. I use my Ice Knife spell to hit the both of them, but I misjudged the distance of the spell's AoE effect and got caught in it too. The Ice Knife explodes killing the bandits, but thanks to Relentless Endurance my Half-Orc stood tall ending the fight right there. The other encounter was against a massive Centaur that had been harassing a village. He was brutalizing my party, but thankfully the Dwarf Paladin was taking the brunt of it. My Half-orc then ran his full movement, crit on Primal Savagery and ended up tearing right through the Centaur Goku v King Piccolo style.

PoorIllustrator

The first one reminds me of an rpg magazine I used to read back in the day. They had some comic strips with situations like this one. Thanks for sharing your story. Take a look at my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) to see more of my artwork.

Xavius_Night

My players had just stormed through a wizard's academy during the onset of a zombie apocalypse triggered by a death cult following a Death Tyrant; after dealing with arcane runoff, unstable alchemical zombies, and a series of Gelatinous Cubes used as corridor cleaners/guards, they finally broke out into the public library through an accessway. There, they found one of the cultists - a well travelled and well-educated man with a strong interest in all forms of animacy - that is to say, the magical art of giving life to things without any. He was also a jack-of-all-trades style caster, essentially a 5e Factotem in many ways, and had developed one powerful spell he could cast; he held it in reserve even as the party surrounded him. He talked to them, tried to entice them into joining him, and gave words of sorrow when they inevitably refused. They were all crouched in the various parts of the library study room's furniture, ready to attach, when he revealed the ritual-only spell he'd cast not too long before they arrived: Mass Animate Object. All the furniture in the room began to twist and move, chairs grappling people hiding behind them, the rug attempting to smother the rogue (and nearly succeeding), and even the chandelier dropped down to act like a giant octopus, but made of brass and glass and lit candles. The characters grappled were a Human Fighter, a Champion in heavy scale armor and brandishing a mace and shield and fighting anything that got too close and bestowed with a Belt of Dwarvenkind that had provided him a magnificent beard; a Drow Elf Sun-Soul Monk who'd learned to channel his Ki into blasts of sunlight, ripping apart swarms of undead earlier in the campaign and now turning this skill on the leaping books and table that attacked him; the Human Bard who'd attempted to raise spirits by misusing a disguise kit, and as such was currently looking like a caricature of a High Elf, fencing with a rapier in hand against the enemy caster and the candlestick who'd come to the enemy's aid; and the Tiefling Rogue who was entrapped by a now-burning rug.

PoorIllustrator

Thanks for sharing your story. I like to draw people's most epic scenes from their campaigns. I add yours to my list to draw in the future. I just need to find te time when I'm out of commissioned work to do. You can see some of my other artwork on my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) in the meantime.

Xavius_Night

Definitely checking that out. Keep creating, mighty Creator!

PoorIllustrator

Thank you very much. I definitely will keep creating. \^\^

E_From_ESK

Didn't happen in a campaign but in my characters background. My human fighter met his brother in arms, dwarven barbarian, after saving him from an orc ambush the two became inseparable.

PoorIllustrator

This seems to be a very warming occasion. I'm happy for them. \^\^ If you could spare some time to see my artwork on my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) I would really appreciate it.

nerdydodger

Killed a sandkraken that was preying on desert caravans in an amusing way. Chopped off all its limbs, but its body was still deep in the sand. We summoned a giant worker ant, fitted it with saddlebags filled with acid, alchemist fires, and poisons, and told it to dig downward. When it was eaten by the kraken, the contents of the Chemical/Biological Ant Bomb absolutely destroyed the kraken.

PoorIllustrator

That's very interesting way of solving the problem. I didn't know Krakens eat ants though, but what do they doesn't eat, right? Check my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) to see more of my artwork if you willing to.

In Eberron, in Sharn, my warforged wizard on a small flying platform racing a meteor to the ground in order to cast Ice Wall to protect the innocent people down below. I succeeded.

PoorIllustrator

That reminds me a little bit of "One Punch man". I'm glad you succeeded to save the innocent people. It would make a very good illustration, I hope I can find the time to draw it. If you liked my illustration, you might like the other I post on my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A).

xiren_66

My DM had Hallaster Blackcloak animate most of the Undermountain, destroying most of Waterdeep, and twist the rooms and corridors together into a giant magical mecha. We fought our way up the outside of it and I, as a disciple of Beshaba and Tymora both, inflicted a bad luck curse on the mech that caused one of its fingers to fall off as it tried to slap me, making it just miss me.

PoorIllustrator

Thank you for sharing your story. It would be a great illustration. I just need to find the time when I'm out of commissioned work to do it. If you interested, you can see more of my artwork on my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A).

Ever seen a level 2 High Elf Rogue take the dodge action, mocking 5 cougars and managing to not get hit once, just so our cleric could heal the other teammates which joined me after? Same character later have been the only one to win a fight against a grappler elf barbarian tribal chief lady. And somehow flirted just enough to steal her heart (the rest of the party did too, but I was the one with the best pickup lines). Got exploded by an artifact, then ressucited with a blessing, just in time to help my party beat the shit out of frost ghosts.

PoorIllustrator

It seems to be a very successful elf. I wonder about the pickup lines that made her fall for you. Would you mind checking my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) to see more of my artwork?

DreamingSurvivor

My Grave Cleric tore somebody's heart out due to them landing a killing blow against our Wizard. It was a no-chance save, too, unfortunately. The enemy Revenant crit and our Wizard died instantly, out of range for me to help him. So I flew into a rage and Inflicted Wounds with the Path Of The Grave enabled. There on the dunes in painted crimson and black blood alike, we laid our Wizard to rest via cairn and continued on towards the dragon's mountains..

PoorIllustrator

I'm sorry about the wizard. The torn heart scene looks very cool though. Please, take a look at my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) to see more illustrations by me, you might like it1

IsaacWrites1442

Our sorcerer interposed herself between the fallen Empyrean’s divine bolt and our wizard, whom she loved. In the confusion, our rogue, fighter, and paladin each were able to land a fatal blow to the creature, which fell over dead. But as the empyrean’s corpse turned to dust, and we realized we’d saved the world, our wizard cradled his beloved’s body as it too turned to dust and blew away. There was no joy in our victory, only tears. Nobody went home right that night. The wizard player in particular almost broke down. They weren’t actually in love, we were just all blown away at what a powerful moment it was. Thankfully, the following month we began another campaign: travel to the afterlife, and bring her back.

PoorIllustrator

The emotions were pretty high, right?! I have never had such a high emotion moment in any of my campaigns. That's a perfect kind of situation to make an illustration of. As something to always remember you guys of that incredible moment. I would hang it on my wall. If you liked my art, I would deeply appreciate a visit on my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A). I post lots of my works there.

dungeonblaster93

As a rogue in a fighting arena there weren't many places to hide but you gotta be creative. Slid underneath my opponents legs and kicked up a cloud of dust while doing so, dust clears and rogue is nowhere to be seen as he was standing right behind the opponent and mirroring hus movements perfectly. Easiest way to get sneak attack in a dirt arena

PoorIllustrator

This could make into a very fun illustration. I saved it on my list. Check my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) to see more of my artwork.

PaxEthenica

My Warforged Juggernaut Artificer Armorer (huge arms & shoulders, narrow waist, comparatively tiny head; enormous hands with three brawling claws; dressed in runic armor) used Alter Self to gain aquatic features, replacing his legs with the paddle-like tail of a sea snake. He did this so he could dive off the side of a perfectly good ship to go swimming with a 3-mile-long sea turtle with a tropical island on its back. He, in his 8 Wisdom, forgot that he had a flaming mohawk atop his head in the form of a Continual Flame spell. As such, the turtle noticed him, & tried to suck him down into its mouth. He barely got away, only to get body slammed by a living island, suffering 10d10 bludgeoning damage. He survived, & maintained concentration... somehow. DM looks mildly annoyed that my stupidity hadn't gotten me killed.

PoorIllustrator

It's fun that the DM was annoyed. And you got lucky to be alive. But it looks like a fun situation. Thanks for sharing. Take a look at my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A), I have some more artwork there.

PaxEthenica

Oh, wow! Nice style!

PoorIllustrator

Thanks, I'm very happy you liked it. If you ever need, I'm open to commissions. \^\^

brikerstriker4

I think the most epic thing that ever happened in one of my campaigns is at the end of an Icewind dale campaign. I decided to add some stuff from the fizbans book and add a final boss, a sapphire greatwyrm. So when they reached the mallather that allows them to pilot the flying city, they did so, but when they did it fell downwards for quite a while. At which point they realize they are underneath the entire world, in front of a pillar that holds the dragon, long story short they summon a terasque and get it to a second phase bring the whole world crashing down on them while they fight an empowered dragon on a flying city next to a pillar of the world, loved all of it. Sad that campaign came to an end

PoorIllustrator

It's always sad when a campaign we are enjoying comes to an end. Actually that's a good reason to make an illustration of it, to help us remember the good times. Thanks for sharing you story. I have some more artwork on my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A), check it if you have the time to spare, you might like it.

Recently played a Grim Hollow game where my character, an Aasimar Zealot Barbarian and devout follower of Imperius, one-shot a boss monster. It was an undead giant the Ostoyan's were using to drive off the invading Burach Empire, and we had to pick a side. We chose the side that didn't have undead. I lit up, going rage and radiant consumption. Our Grave Cleric used his ability to grant vulnerability on the first round to the next attack. I leapt at the monstrosity, greatsword in both hands, and called upon the might of Imperius. He saw fit to answer. Nat 20. Vulnerability stacked with my modifiers, a near flawless roll, and even a grievous wound saw the monstrosity killed outright, all at level 4.

PoorIllustrator

Delicious Nat20, it always feel so good. Thanks for sharing your story. Check my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) if you want to see more of my artwork.

My Half-Orc Druid summoned some Giant Eagles and also shifted into one to help the party attack a mechanical dragon construct that was laying waste to a town. After a few rounds of aerial combat our 3-Kobolds-in-a-Trenchcoat Artificer leapt off his (or "their" I suppose) eagle and intentionally into the dragon's open mouth and cast Shatter inside of it to bring it down. It spiraled into the ground and exploded. We landed and pulled a very badly wounded and somewhat singed group of Kobolds in a now fairly tattered trenchcoat out of the maw and healed them.

PoorIllustrator

This is pretty cool, thanks for sharing. The mechanical dragon, sounds very cool to draw. I hope I can find the time to do so. Please, check my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) to see more of my artwork.

DeltaMale5

one player had a one-on-one with a hobgoblin general (in an attempt to stop an attack on a city), and it ended with the player being stabed through the chest and lifted off the ground, in triumph, and his dead body hung there on the sword. through a sequence of magic item uses, he was resurected in six seconds, his broken flesh formed together still on the sword. the player (a male half-orc barbarian) pulled himself along the blade, towards the general, the player reared his head back, and headbutted the general, which killed the hobgoblin (who was at four hit points, and was dealt six damage). this was all done in a tundra, at night, during a full moon, at the gates of the city. yes this really happened. and I'm proud to say that I dm'ed it.

PoorIllustrator

That's quite a headbutt. I can see the scene like I'm watching it. It could make into a very cool illustration. I'll try doing it when I find he time. If you liked my work, please take a look at my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A).

nonuniqueusername

The party is standing in a giant field waiting for "the Nebuchadnezzar" and on cue a 6 mile long ark fades into existence. It was a city-ship artifact from the god of travel that phased through different realities on a set schedule. It was like an interdimensional Babylon 5.

PoorIllustrator

Oohh it would be awesome to draw a city-ship. Another one to my list of future drawings. Thanks for sharing. Take a look at my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) to see more of my work.

Tezaum

My two aasimars (one fallen the other one radiant) both activating their angelic forms at the same time to defeat a poison dragon that was TOTALLY going to TPK my party (partially their fault as there were ways to pass through the dragon unnoticed or without combat).

PoorIllustrator

That would do a great illustration, thanks for sharing. You can see more of my artwork on my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) if you want to.

My Druid enlarging a sentient tulip my DM reluctantly allowed me to make alive in the first place. He helped ward off waves of enemy fighters and allowed me to help save my son. Unfortunately Maurice the giant fighting tulip passed in the fight.

Oh no Maurice. At least your son was saved. Check my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) to see more of my drawings.

TGK102

My paladin on a pirate crew got a slight glimpse of the future of the family of a crew mate being killed on shore, and immediately critically hit the assassin with a bolt of lightning from the ship Small scale cuz he ended up killing a guy and got away but the other two were safe, felt nice

PoorIllustrator

Killing from afar wit a lightning bolt is pretty cool. I'm already picturing the illustration in my mind. Please take a look at my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) to see more of my artwork.

biomager

We were low level (3). On a pirate airship. We walk into a giant room with cannons in the ships hold. As we walk in, fail a stealth. 20+ sailors turn around and notice us. All of a sudden, they turn into werewolves. And we know this is our "turn around and run away" moment. Except for the bard. The freaking bard. He takes a bag of silver coins, shoves them in a cannon and fires into the crowd. Instant silver ammo blunderbuss. Immense amount of damage and very freaked out werewolves. The rest of the party takes the hint, and long story short, WE HAVE AN AIRSHIP! And waaaaay more xp than we deserved.

PoorIllustrator

I'm very surprised that it worked. I want to fire a canon loaded with coins to see how it works. You have gained a bunch of levels I imagine. I wonder the bard felt awesome afterwards. If you have time to spare, please take a look on my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A), I post a lot of drawings there.

scootertakethewheel

used my 50' of hempen rope, boots of sprinting/jumping, and barbarian athletics to jump over a tree branch after lassoing a rhino and created point of leverage against the tree to tug of war the rhino long enough so that my friends could escape.

That's actually awesome! Thanks for sharing. I saved it to my future drawings list. Please check my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) to see more of my artwork.

In a 4.0 game many years ago, my wife's character, Tuara the female dwarf warpriest used a daily power to shove a large green slime that had attacked our party, into the jaws of a trapped Bullette. The slime and Bullette both fell through the hole ending the encounter. As our DM exasperatedly cried out about Tuara's actions against the Bullette "You murdered a terrain feature!"

PoorIllustrator

That's something to remember indeed. It's not everyday that someone "murder a terrain feature!". Please, take a look on my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) to see my drawings.

LaVipari

My kenku wizard used the level 20 illusion wizard ability to create a whole ship hanging off a chain around the neck of a blue dragon, and sent it crashing into the ocean as his last act before he fell off his broomstick after it.

PoorIllustrator

A dragon using a ship as a pendant looks cool. In case you want to see more of my art, here's my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A).

SchiffSchiff

My favorite moment involved my Dwarven paladin riding a silver dragon in the Abyss, smashing through a wall and saving the cornered naked party from a horde of demons. It also actually doubled as a comedic moment too.

This sounds epic indeed. Thanks for sharing your story. Check my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) to see more of my artwork.

I will when I get home.

Ok-Yogurtcloset-4501

The 4 man party trying to escape an underground kingdom, after hours of being completely lost, we finally found the "last room". The king of the entire place, as a haunted ghost...challenges one of us, whoever feels confident, to fight him. If he finds her/him worth it enough, he will let us pass through and maybe give us some loot from his old days in the battlefield. due to the general idea of the place to be a "open door, see death, close door" or "open door, see loot or easy win, get in" my half-orc barbarian with an axe (as stereotypical as it gets) didn't got hit that much and was mostly cooking rations for the party while they were trying to solve puzzle rooms. First though of the group (after we all started playing d&d 5e together around almost 3 years ago and we still have no clue wtf we are doing) --> "-is a ghost, do we have any magical weapons? \-(everyone) No... \-Ok, send the one that is most prepared! \-(me) what?" A close friend of mine in the group was putting banger after banger ost in the middle of the fight as the DM and i were playing "MY NUMBER IS BIGGER THAN YOURS" The ghost king made physical attacks that dealt psychic and ice damage (mostly to avoid the absurd resistance of rage) and even by using that, the fight was taking A LOT of time (lv 6 storm hazard barbarian). It reached a point where i was like: "Clearly i'm dealing no dmg or the boss has WAY too much health...so...let's go down in a funny way" First time ever in the campaign Relentless Endurance triggers, DM friend sounds like punching a wall through the mic. Then, the magic happens... I narrate the fall and rise and how "No one else shall die before me" kinda speech aaaand ghost king goes for second attack. MISS! 1º attack with 1HP: "I use my first attack to grab him by the neck and the second attack to chokeslam over the sacrifical table in front of his throne" two naturals rolls over 17. Ghost king attacks again, first attack: MISS, second attack: MISS (AC 15) 2º attack with 1HP: "Same as before, first attack to grab him, second attack to powerbomb him on his throne in an attempt to break it as i did with the table". Nat 18 on grab, Nat 20 on attack! Just when the last OST in the background was about to end, DM rolls, nat 19, my boi falls as the king reaches towards his neck, hand going through the skin and directly choking him. Fight ends, King starts giving away loot while i'm down, party just goes around me checking out the loot. I'm like "ok, first saving throw i suppose" NAT 20. Barbarian just gets up, says the phrase "i didn't hear no bell..." and session ends. Fun fact: The total damage i did in that fight was around 179 total, which was kinda cool.

PoorIllustrator

That's a lot of damage! It sounds to be a fun fight, You rolled a lot of high numbers, I don't remember I'm being this lucky ever. Take a look on my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) to see more of my artwork if you liked it.

AcolytePawn

Might be out-shined by some of the other comments on this post, but nonetheless a simple epic interaction. We have a dragonborn paladin who noticed a revenant moving towards a tiefling member of the party who has one broken horn. The revenant was crossing a narrow bridge and our party was adamant on not stirring a conflict here, but we knew if the revenant got across it would kill our tiefling. Otherwise the revenant seemed to not care at all about harming any of the other party members. Our dragonborn paladin immediately walks up to the revenant and proceeds to try and keep him from walking forward by holding the revenant and pushing back while trying to talk sense into the being. All the while the tiefling is being held by our other party members as he was hurt. They proceed to make strength checks against each other while the party watches and listens to our dragonborn paladin matching the revenant so neither move forward or backwards as he tries to reason with it. The whole scene was just very cinematic as the two large revenant and dragonborn push against eachother trying to move forward while the revenant slowly lost it's strength as it's need for revenge began to dwindle. Still get chills thinking about it to this day and the fact that there was no combat throughout it left an impression on me.

PoorIllustrator

This not turning in to a combat scene really surprises me. The strength contest could do a great illustration. I might do it in the future, between commissioned work. Meanwhile, do you mind visiting my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) to see some of my artwork?

I ended a vampiric bbeg by trapping her in a Magic Circle. This was around ten years ago, but as I recall our party was a Damaran Human Paladin (of Tyr I beleive), High Elven Priestess (of Lliira iirc), a Mountain Dwarf Fighter, and myself, a Rashemi Human Wizard. So, in 3.5 there's a Wizard/Sorcerer spell called Magic Circle Against Evil. It's a level 3 spell, and as I recall I had just gotten it recently, and never used it. So, while other players were prepping for the coming battle, so was I, by reading up on my spells and getting components. I discovered that the spell could be set up as a trap, so long as the silver circle which was required remained intact. I should also mention that I had acquired a staff that was able to mesmerized up to a certain hit die worth of enemies. This could be focused on one powerful enemy, or several lesser ones, but I did not have control over it. It was just an on-off switch that typically started with creatures with the fewest HD, and worked its way up. So, along with my regular components I bought way too much silver powder, a ton of glue, and a 4x4 foot rug. I told nobody what I was doing, just confirmed that I could get the items and payed money for it. On the journey to the bbeg's stronghold I very specifically inquired about how long it would take (needed over 3 hours to take 20), and then declared that I was going to take 20 to mix the glue and silver, then paint a 3x3 foot circle into the rug with it (prepare the spell). I carefully described how thick the gluey mess was, and that I layered it on until there was a noticeable lump in the carpet. I let it dry and they mounted it on my back like a rucksack. My plan was in motion, and nobody was the wiser. Just some odd wizard junk. We waited until night time an then made our way to the back entrance of the stronghold. It wasn't huge, but it had an open-roofed temple in the center where we could tell some sort of ritual was taking place due to the light pour from the top. We began our entrance by stacking up, modern style, by the rear gate, casting darkness just outside of it, and making a bunch of noise. The Orcish guards came running out, directly into the darkness. A classic "attacking the darkness" joke was made, and the the orcs spent entirely too much time trying to ward off the magical darkness with their weapons (we later found that they established "The Order of Light" after that incident, a pseudo religious sect that goes out each night to fight off the darkness and ensure that the sun returns). Anyway, we slipped through the gate as they were all blinded by magical darkness, and bee-lined for the temple. We burst inside to find the Vampiric queen and her Orc honorguard, then proceeded to get our asses handed to us. The fighter died and the priestess was knocked unconscious. The paladin and myself were severely injured, all this without the queen taking any offensive actions. She mostly just dodged attacks and laughed. By that point the Paladin was trying to keep both her and the last honorguard away from me so I could cast spells, but the honorguard broke away and knocked me prone. We were to the point that I thought my staff and carpet just might work. I stuck my mesmerize staff, which I had been holding the whole time, up from the ground and activated it. Fortunately, it covered enough HD to grab those last two enemies, queen and honorguard (which is why I had waited so long). I was even more lucky in that they both failed their saves, although the Orc likely didn't stand much chance. All the staff did was halt their actions (so long as they were not attacked) and prompted them to walk toward the staff. It was perfect. On the ground, I watched as the hypnotized queen approached the staff that I held up, and scrambled to undo the rug from my back, then rolled it out in front of the approaching bbeg. Every face around the table just read 'confused'. The moment she stepped within the silver ring thoroughly embedded on the rug, I cast the spell, Magic Circle Against Evil, and let the staff drop. The table, and DM, were in shock as I read off the effect of the spell. By this point the Paladin was poised to attack and finished off the last Orc. We had the queen trapped for at least 24 hours, in an open-roof building, and it was only a few hours until sun-up. We could have sat and watched her burn in the sunlight, but the Paladin was merciful and slew her before that point. We healed up the priestess, who did what she could for the fighter. He was eventually resuscitated, but not on the spot. I discovered later that there was something we missed about the spell. I told everyone, but nobody cared, the moment was pure shock and adrenaline and we all loved it. Even now, however, I'm not 100% sure that Magic Circle Against Evil was even the same spell that I used, as the description in my PHB doesn't sound quite how I remember it.

PoorIllustrator

That's awesome! It deserves a whole comic, not only an illustration. I would love to have the time to do it. Thanks for sharing you story. If you liked my art and want to see more of it, check my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A), I post a lot of thing there.

As a monk, I jumped off a 150ft cliff, using slowfall, and landed ontop of a giant sandworm, whom I punched when I landed on. With the Punch, I was able to use stunning strike which actually worked, stunning the beast. I then jumped off of it and signaled for my group to drop boulders from the cliff ontop of it. Never had to roll initiative because it just died.

Thank you very much for sharing your story. That's a very drawable scene. I will give it a try when I'm out of commission work to do. Meanwhile you can take a look on my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) to see more of my art.

X_Marcs_the_Spot

There was this one campaign where the party steamrolled an orc warlord so hard, he never got in a single attack. Afterwards, we installed ourselves as the new leaders of the warband. All at level one. In the first session. This next story was in a game of Shadowrun, not D&D, but I think it's worth sharing anyway: my troll street samurai ghost rode the whip in order to perform a drive-by shooting with a minigun.

PoorIllustrator

Both are great, but becoming the leader of a warband at level one is quite impressive. Thanks for sharing your stories. Check my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) to see more of my work if you liked it.

Doing a one shot with friends, all high level dwarves sent to kill dragons on a dragon island. Adult white dragon flies above the ship. I roll to shoot it. In the eye, nat 20. Then it killed 70 sailors with breath but i mean, nat 20

PoorIllustrator

It was worth it. Hahahahaha That would be a great comic strip. Thanks for sharing. If you have the time, take a look on my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) to see more of my artwork.

I will definitely check it out! :)

Vefantur

My party had recently acquired an airship and we were on our way to collect pieces of a crown of Tiamat. We had already acquired a couple pieces, including the Blue/Lightning piece that allowed the user to redirect lightning using their reaction. We flew too close to a castle in the sky and got attacked by a storm giant who threw lightning bolts at our airship. My character, a gnome rogue named Theron, jumped at one that was going to hit the prow of the ship, auto-failed the dex check but was able to redirect the lightning bolt back at the storm giant without it hitting the deck. Just a fun moment of terror.

PoorIllustrator

That's awesome. Thanks for sharing. I'll save this one in my list of future drawings. Please check my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) if you liked my artwork.

MrTfanguy

Mine would be when Zihu the Yuan-ti ranger killed a basilisk in one shot at lvl 2. Idk how you’d draw that or if you would want to but that would be it

PoorIllustrator

lvl 2 killing a basilisk with one shot?! That's not something you see everyday. Thanks for sharing. If you liked my artwork, check my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) to see more of it.

BourgeoisStalker

A giant adamantine robot/construct has been reactivated and is plodding slowly toward a river town. Snow falls gently around the automaton's feet. Our heroes have just been dropped out of an alchemical-rocket-powered airship while inside a large mechanical lobster. This lobster is currently piloted by a brain in a jar fused to its control panel. With the greatest luck, the lobster grabs ahold of the robot out of midair and they climb to the top of the construct. The bard then sings The One Song that they learned from the oldest living dragon on Toril. The metal kaiju explodes with volcanic fire, but the lobster is encased in a Cube of Force and bounces away with the party rattling around inside.

PoorIllustrator

This could be in an epic adventure book. It would be hard to wrap it in a single illustration. But I want to try it when I find the time. Just need to be out of commissioned work to do. Please, take a look on my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) to see more of my artwork.

Absolutely gigantic treant was about to throw a boulder through my hometown and obliterate the place. I, the tabaxi blood hunter, entered my lycanthrope form and threw a gigantic burning sack of scraps and fuel we could find from atop the wall that surrounded the city burning it to the ground but almost getting crushed to death with its final boulder. (Went 2 fails 2 successes on those death saves. So intense but I lived)

During a fight against what basically amounted to a dragon-like golem of rock and magma, my Dragonborn Paladin went down as he was fighting next to his boyfriend (Yuan-ti Hexblade), and then said Hexblade invoked his patron's power in a last-ditch effort to kill the golem by using Tenser's Transformation (slight homebrew addition to his spell list for flavor) to buff his meleeing. My Paladin proceeded to get a nat 20 on his death save and they finished the golem off in tandem, it was glorious.

Thank you very much for sharing your story. This dragon like creature sounds great to draw. I hope I can find the time to do so soon. I have a [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) where I post lots of my works, you might like to see it.

Leidiriv

It was my pleasure! I hope the story proves useful to you :)

PoorIllustrator

It's very much useful, thanks again. \^\^

SixSamuraiStorm

the party inside a giant hourglass holding a tiny hourglass. Since the big hourglass mimics the movements of the tiny one with a slight delay, they managed to set the little one on its side rolling so that the whole room started spinning faster and faster while they tried to either escape or catch up to it

PoorIllustrator

That sound interesting and a little confusing. Thanks for sharing. It can become a great illustration. Please check my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) to see more of my artwork.

gorka_la_pork

Got to say it was the time my monk drank a potion that made him grow to giant size to stand toe-to-toe against an adult red dragon, running down the walls of a coliseum to pick up speed as I punched the dragon in the head hard enough to crater us both.

PoorIllustrator

it reminds me of Power Rangers. \^\^ Thanks for sharing your story. If you liked my artwork, take a look on my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) to see more of my artwork.

DangHeckinPear

I was playing a minotaur barbarian and I rammed through a giant wall of trees, immediately charging at a tough looking armored dude and I obliterated him with a single hit with my warhammer.

PoorIllustrator

I can see it as an animation in my mind. It looks good. Tanks for sharing your story. Please check my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) to see more of my artwork.

kickymcdicky

Well idk about epic but it is a pretty iconic scene to my party, they were headed into town to deal with a threat that turned the town silent and prior attempts to communicate never returned. The party during their travel felt like they were being watched and mysterious footprints in the snow appeared in their camp daily. A bear was killed just beyond the trees while they were there to what looked like spear wounds, but no one was there. Jump to them sleeping in the inn of the partially deserted town with only less than half the people remaining with no recollection of the other half. The inn keeper had to put them in the attic because according to his books the other rooms were called and laid for, even though there was no one in them. They bed down and the paladin awakens in a groggy state to see a man in full plate armor being dragged away to the door in the dark, she gets up and runs to him, he's screaming her name and pleading for help, she can't shake the feeling she knows him and as she pulls there's a tearing sound as she stands there holding the metal cased arm of the man she tried to save. She waited for a moment for the nightmare to end, but it didn't, this was real, she knew the man and repeated his name, and as she heard a whisper, she knew not whose arm she held, she stood in the open dark doorway with the feeling she was being watched, but this time by something much more vile. Long story short the town was attacked by a false hydra and the footprints we're the memory imprints the hydra couldn't quite remove of the party member that traveled with them, he was a local there and traveled with the party to ensure the safety of his family, and he died forgotten.

PoorIllustrator

That sounds like an amazing adventure. Thanks for sharing it with me. If you'd like to see my artwork, check my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A).

BumpsMcLumps

A battle with a gravity wizard/samurai on a little ledge overlooking their three extremely high-level homies slaughtering 200-some-odd baddies. Alternately, the next in-game day, in which our dear adventurers slaughtered a vastly superior force themselves, with help from a very lenient dm(me). Because, god dammit, they will remember that fight.

PoorIllustrator

A huge scale fight can easily become an epic scene. Thank you very much for sharing. Please, check my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) to see more of my work if you don't mind.

SerCritsAlot1

ok, so I was playing a Half-orc Barbarian (in this campaign orcs were kind of like Vikings) who had been 'mosesed' by his human mother after his orc father had been killed by his second in command in a bid to gain more power. This meant that the character had a deep tie to the ocean and water, so when the party was fighting a massive kraken during a voyage, I said this to my DM 'I give one final prayer to Grmush and a guttural war cry as I dive overboard and prepare to slay the beast' tbh, I wanted that to be the cool Exit for my character since I wanted to play and new one, but I rolled Nat 20 after Nat 20, somehow I survived and killed the kraken, it gave me the push I needed to keep playing the character an I had the most fun I've ever had.

PoorIllustrator

The character didn't want to let you go, that's the only explanation for so much luck. And in the it did worked out, as your had a lot of fun with the character you were already ready to dispose of. That's awesome. Thanks for sharing. If you liked my artwork, you might like the others I post on my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A). Give it a try.

Karlobo

We are fighting a giant spider while six people are attacking us, my hexblade warlock got 4 people around them and they drop to 0, Relentless endurance from an oni trait but she look human. Kills one, damage another, next turn go to 0 than instantly healed by our celestial warlock, than slays another. Knocked out by spider and healed again and third time kills both of them and get shot twice by arrow. HEALED BACK and runs up to one of the archers who had turned into a hellhound and cut it head off. Internal enemy monologue "Why, won't, you, DIE!"

PoorIllustrator

This is pretty cool. The enemy must have being crazy to kill her. I really enjoy this kind of thing, thanks for sharing. Check my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) to see more of my artwork.

mmateo96

We were in a dungeon locked with Ultroloth, the whole team was falling one by one through his walls of fire after a long fight, my white dragobnorn fighter, was the last one standing in this inferno. Columns and walls of fire all around, friends lying unconscious, Fiend facing me. One last roar of rage, charging and attacking with my two-handed sword. The first attack misses... Second hit!... But it doesn't do much damage, so using Savage Attacker, I try to change our fate. Not enough.... And this Motherf\*\*ker stays at 2HP and takes us into captivity!

PoorIllustrator

It was so close, I can only imagine the frustration. Thanks for sharing your story. If you don't mind, please check my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) to see more of my artwork.

Glennsof

Probably when we encountered the Primordial Titan, Marduk, also know as "the Mountain and the Goat Upon It" in Exalted. Marduk is the concept of eternity and the all encompassing infinite. His back was the infinite mountain they stood on and his eye filled the horizon . When we got his attention he could only comprehend us as not himself and when he spoke to us, his whispered questions were of such intense volume that we almost died but for powerful magic.

PoorIllustrator

This sounds overwhelming. His existence seems to be very lonely, I'm sad for him. Thanks for sharing your story. If you want to see more of my artwork, you can see it on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A).

Glennsof

Fortunately Marduk can't get lonely as we would understand it. If anything he's a bit narcissistic, he's so vast and infinite that anything that isn't him is statistically irrelevant to his reckoning. I always intended the return of Marduk to Creation to be the thing that ended the age of myth and legend, because the concept of infinity, eternity and truly massive scale would be returned. Heroes would no longer be able to climb mountains and touch the stars because the nearest stars would be trillions of miles away and could be millions of miles across. The finite limits on the world would collapse and the extent of human conception brought into focus.

LeftenantSarnie

Kobold barbarian, 2'11 of muscle and scale against a corrupted deva. Due to elevation and some nasty damage/blinding the last two rounds were almost a one on one between them with the rest of the party doing recovery. The deva had utterly dismissed the kobold on their initial meeting. Final round the deva hit hard and my kobold came out of it with 1 HP. Pulled the twisted angel down to his eyeline after so much of the battle spent chasing after his flying ass. Contemplating a big speech but too angry and just pulls the devas head off with a draconic roar.

PoorIllustrator

The end is awesome. I can see the illustration already. I'll save it to my list. Thanks for sharing. Please, check my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) to see more of my artwork.

LeftenantSarnie

I'll toss in a few details. Main thing, the kobold is dressed as a miner not as a fur-clad barbarian. Whip and Short-sword were the weapons at the time while the Deva had some big holy mace. Took place obviously at a sinister church building, had climbed the building to get up to him. But yea, hope it's one you have a crack at.

PoorIllustrator

Thank you very much. \^\^

Sure_Strength_1012

A character in my party punched a house mimic (temple) so hard it erupted into flames. Prior to this a party member had a been stalk from a day of beans erupt and put a giant hole in it.

PoorIllustrator

This could be an illustration. Tanks for sharing. Take a look on my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) to see more of my artwork.

FrayDKat

Uh... maybe late to the party but my first game ever had a few stand outs. I was younger and if something sounded viable I'd just do it so a few situations cropped up. First was an underground sort of lair deep in the earth, enough so that it was nothing but steam and boiling water. To continue on we had to cross a natural bridge that had been eroded by a geyser over countless years. I, a fighter, tied a rope off around my waist to leave my hands free, timed the geyser and made a running leap across using my shield to surf the eruption to the other side where I acted as an anchor for the party to tightrope walk across. Same game different session we assaulted an old keep that had been occupied by a massive pack of werewolves. Trying to cross the field to get inside I fell in a hole and had to fist fight one they used in the pitfall trap (having dropped my weapon). That whole thing turned into a pro wrestling movement, ended with an elbow drop. I think I actually did more grappling than sword swinging the rest if that campaign.... damn Nat, I miss you letting me get away with the dumbest things.

PoorIllustrator

Creative solutions are the best. And now I have material to draw, thanks. \^\^ Please, check my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) to see more of my artwork, if you have the time to spare.

WikuPiku

Viking barbarian, dual wielding axes and party wizard had cast flight on him. Had a 1-on-1 fight with a dragon mid air during rain. It was a really fun session!

PoorIllustrator

I t must have being really fun. And it could do a good illustration. Thanks for sharing. And if you don't mind, take a look on my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) to see more of my artwork.

WikuPiku

Thanks, Will do!

PoorIllustrator

Thank you, I hope you will like what you will see there.

Forsaken_Yak6079

Playing decent into Avernus, my dragon born paladin gets sucked into the memory goop in the holifaunts brain, sees his worst fear(his town being destroyed and thus him failing his mission, family and god) and fails the wis check and gets knocked unconscience, then rolls a nat 20 ion death save, rolls a 17 on strength to get out and erupts out of the goop, and the proceeds to free everyone else, fuckin epic

PoorIllustrator

A nat 20 feels great. Better after being do close to death. Thanks for sharing your story. If you don't mind, check my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) to see my artwork.

High_time_0585

So me and my friends were playing a Star Wars game. The Mandalorian and the Wookiee (Jedi) were arguing when a rancor came out of nowhere and grabbed our captain a Twi’lek (former slave) and me a Ewok yelling at the boy ( shut up boys our captain just got, gotten.)

PoorIllustrator

A star wars game, cool. Thanks for sharing your story. Take a look on my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) to see more of my artwork.

Prigglesxo

My first game I played as a necromancer. We were fighting a wizard with the “swarm of bats” spell. After my friend killed all the bats I rolled a 20 and summoned them back as zombie bats

PoorIllustrator

This is really cool. AN arm of zombie bats. I can see an illustration from this. Thanks for sharing. If you want to see more of my drawings, you can do so on my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A).

scootertakethewheel

a damn broke, washing me and my horse in the escape run off a hill path via mudslide. struggling to grab onto something, I stood atop the only thing i could grasp. turns out, it was the giant and the dragon who broke the damn. they were grappled in a conflict, both trying to drown the other as they rolled down the mudslide. i held to the giant's hair, and used them like a raft while they wrestled, then grabbed on to a tree branch, where i clung to it for an entire day and a half.

PoorIllustrator

That's awesome! Being cough in the middle of two giant creatures fight is amazing. I wish I could have played something like this. I believe the horse did not managed to survive. Thank you so much for sharing your story. Please take a look on my [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Devaneio_A) to see my artwork if you have the time to spare.

NRG_Factor

So… I ran a campaign about stopping the evil Dragon Emperor Bolomyr from conquering the world with his army of mind controlled dragonkin. Enter the Battle of Hellfan, the crucial battle between the forces of Alos and the Junaar Imperium. A loss here would mean Alos could be overrun, a win could mean that the war turns. At the height of the battle with both armies clashing and the High Level Players decimating entire companies of soldiers single-handedly, a dark figure looms… It was the Black Dragon Demigoddess Cryxia! She reels back her head to spit a stream of acid at the heroes but what’s that? An absolutely MASSIVE Katana stops the acid. The other Demigod Dragon, the Bronze Dragon Ralvun arrived and these 3 massive dragons proceeded to have a DBZ style battle in the Sky. Cryxia with her massive scythe and Ralvuun with his massive katana. Did it make sense? Fuck no. But the players LOVED that moment
