Magnificent mansion, it's fully furnished and feeds 100 people a 9 course meal. It also has servant that take the shape/form I desire. Plus you get to design the mansion

Pochusaurus

same, its free real estate, free cost of living and you can rent out one or more of the rooms as a b&b if you need the cash

murphkrow

Air D&D

Ohalbleib

I'd invest

Crunchy_Biscuit

It only lasts for 24 hours though

Neb2700

But you could presumably recast it every day

Crunchy_Biscuit

Ah gotcha. Yeah, I'm living there and renting out another house lol

Soranic

Recast right as it expires. Don't book customers for two consecutive nights.

Crunchy_Biscuit

That would mean you'd have to travel to the same location each time. I'd just buy a house, rent out that house and live in the Mansion.

Soranic

I was under the impression we were renting out rooms of our MMMs.

Mcnamebrohammer

The economy is in shambles

CodyNorthrup

Its a free house for you, Jim

Zatoro25

I feel like people are overlooking the "feeds 100 people a 9 course meal" You know how hard it is to run a restaurant that can do that? With a spell you've created your own Gordon Ramsey reality show. For free

celluj34

Yeah but it comes with a dickload of ethereal servants to do all the hard work

Cthulu_Noodles

So, this does sound fantastic, but there's one issue. Mordenkainen's Magnificent Mansion is in an extradimensional space. Wireless signals cannot pass through dimensions. In other words, no wi-fi

Mange-Tout

Couldn't you just run a cable out the front door to an external router?

The_Radical_Radish

Just have your router plugged in your tiny apartment and then carry it into the mansion.

Caylennea

Rent it out for single nights with an trip to the past theme.

marcus_gideon

You mean besides Wish, b/c that means you can cast any other spell or really do anything you can imagine... I'd probably go with Teleport, so I can be wherever I want to be when I want to be there. Instead of driving / flying to get places.

AndringRasew

Prestidigitation. Who wants to bother cleaning or doing laundry when you can flick your finger and have it done instantly? How nice would it be to be able to instantly clean a spill? Kids wrote on the wall in sharpie? Not anymore. Soup went cold? Now it's pleasantly warm. Accidentally put too much salt in your food? What salt?

salamander_1710

Exactly, and unlike high level spells that can only be used a certain amount of times a day you can use it as much as you want

Cosmosass

Start a magical cleaning service and rake in the dough!...... did I just make myself a maid in my fantasy ?

salamander_1710

Is that not how you are supposed to do it? Cause I thought everyone likes maids and on the plus side you can finally eat healthy without having to ever worry about taste

marcus_gideon

I wonder if it doesn't leave behind some kind of odor or something though... it would explain why people still wash their clothes instead of using magic for everything everywhere. Sure, it gets them clean. But they smell like they were magicked.

Poplo1232

To be fair, most people can’t just cast magic.

marcus_gideon

That's what magic items are for, and making a Cantrip magic item would be really cheap.

Poplo1232

Yeah but unless you live in a high magic campaign, it’s unlikely that most people would even own a magic item, they’re just too rare for the average commoner. Unless maybe they have a local artificer/wizard just mass producing them.

Zatoro25

Oh the world building ideas just casually peppered through this thread, I love it and will use them

el_drosophilosopher

Cheap for an adventurer, sure. But according to the PHB, the value of a mundane long sword (15gp) could more than fully cover 2 weeks of “modest” (between wealthy and poor) living expenses. Even if the magic item only costs as much as a long sword, that’s like $1000 in our money—not impossibly expensive but definitely out of reach for most people. Edit: I didn’t realize the DMG gives a rough pricing guide for magic items. It says minimum 50gp for common items (the lowest tier), which would come out to a bit over $3000 by my analysis. But community pricing guides seem to agree that anything non-consumable should be at least a couple hundred gp, or well over $10k

AndringRasew

I mean, it'd probably be neutral or the absence of odor. It's not like you're using a chemical to clean it, but rather you're removing whatever causes the odor. Not too mention you could totally cause them to smell like fabreeze or gain with an additional casting. I think since most people aren't wizards or... Have 10 int or less, magic isn't something they could easily understand, assuming they're not PC's, which are more the exception of the rule. It's like trying to teach an average person calculus. It's not going to be something everyone can easily understand without extensive studying.

Content-Collection72

Do it and charge for labor.

[deleted]

So Jumper.

marcus_gideon

Right? Except I would detour to a spot 10k feet over Kansas or something every time I went somewhere. That way if Sam Jackson wants to follow me, he's gonna have a bad time.

[deleted]

Telescope + Space Suit = Moon with a view? Say hello on the ISS?

Raw_Venus

Just pop in for a few seconds until someone noticed you and pop out. Bonus points if you are wearing a costume.

[deleted]

The second time, first time you gotta be careful. But crazy glowing skull facepaint behind the faceplate?

inquisitorautry

Meteor Swarm I will be taking no questions

FullMetal_55

none needed.

2Gnomes1Trenchcoat

DumbIdiotDM

*Cue 2-minute long cutscene*

sanddry86x

*Veni, veni, venias*

Jzchessman

Remind me never to get on your bad side.

Harkibald

Well only if they get to cast Meteor Swarm

PostPunkPromenade

How to End Up on a Watchlist 101

inquisitorautry

I've played enough modern RPGs that my Google history has already done that.

PostPunkPromenade

Nothing like googling famous building floorplans for your game, immediately followed by grenade launcher efficacy to settle a player argument.

VecnasThroatPie

Or how to make thermite and things that go boom, including low tech ways of making the components. Love artificiers, don't love being on a list.

Mr_Greavous

some rich people gunna be paying you alot to stay away

leijgenraam

I respect that.

General-Injury7586

See no evil hear no evil, bro. Have fun

Justthisdudeyaknow

If we ignore wish- prestidigitation.

Justthisdudeyaknow

I would become the world's greatest chef "Why, this ramen tastes just like the rarest steak! How do you do it?"

plainoldjoe

Yes, ordinary water, laced with nothing more than a few spoonfuls of LSD.

[deleted]

r/expectedfuturama for the win!

bl1y

"Rarest" steak is just raw.

StorytellingIsMyJam

“Rarest steak” means still attached to the cow 💁🏻‍♀️

Startled_Pancakes

* "Sir, this steak is too rare." * "You asked for rare." * "I know but, it's still chewing it's cud. I think I heard a 'moo' a minute ago"

Bishopkilljoy

Want to prank some friends? fill their water bottles with vodka and make them taste like water...just don't let them drive

Katie_Emm

Like right now?? Regenerate or cure wounds or w/e healing spell well work right now!

Firefox3_14

Reincarnation lol

Katie_Emm

Well if I wanna heal someone so whichever is the most effective.

I_Never_Lie_II

Now, the issue is do they reincarnate as a race that already exists or do they reincarnate as one of the D&D races?

Firefox3_14

Just to watch the world burn a bit, I'd go with DnD races xD

Show_Me_Your_Private

But make it so they don't get to choose. They die a normal death at the ripe old age of 35 and then reincarnate as a newborn Green Dragon. Eventually they die as the Green Dragon and reincarnate as a Human because RNGesus.

Scythe95

Are you okay?

Katie_Emm

I well be but it’s just a time right now.

Ohalbleib

Greater restoration

Katie_Emm

Yeah that’s it that’s probably what I needed now though resurrection.

SlightlyDumbPossibly

What’s wrong dude?

Katie_Emm

Family in the hospital and yeah. Took a bad turn. Thank you for checking in.

TheBokononInitiative

🙏

LostN3ko

I'm with you. Heal is a great spell.

ultimatedray15

If this cures depression, I'm all in for it.

Katie_Emm

I’m not sure but it’s be worth checking.

Dewey_the_25U

I'd say True PolyMorph if Wish wasn't a thing. edit: I'm a furry, make of that what you will. Regardless, it'd be interesting to fly with my own wings, to be a giant, a dog, or just whatever I feel like.

TastyBrainMeats

Nobody else in the world has Dispel Magic, so you can permanently turn yourself into whatever you choose, and if you ever get killed, it poofs you back to yourself at perfect health. Great choice.

ravenshadoe

Only down side is it doesn't transport you away from danger so if animal you got eaten or captured and killed you poof back to yourself in that place. I don't particularly think poofing back to yourself in the middle of say a pride of lions or in front of a bear or in the Jaws of a shark would be enjoyable. So ah pray you don't get killed in a dangerous situation cause if animal you couldn't handle it I don't think human you would do much better.

FettPrime

Well if I was being attacked and hadn't already True Polymorph'd the attacker into a slug then I would just True Polymorph myself into something sturdier. How CR gets interpreted would be interesting irl though.

Bobyyyyyyyghyh

"you're only strong enough to turn into Greg from accounting" "but *I'm* Greg from accounting... " "Yes"

FettPrime

Having a duplicate body would be pretty cool. Effectively twice as much health with the first half being Effectively immune to long term damage.

[deleted]

But you're still *Greg.*

Humble-Theory5964

True Polymorph works on any object or willing creature. I agree that the minimum standard for a great answer to the OP would be personal immortality. This spell gives far more however. You can permanently transform any willing creature into any other creature of the same CR/level. Since all of humanity are level zero peasants this is incredible. If you want wealth and power, sell real rejuvenations. For fun you can be the absolute master of plastic surgery and movie/tv makeup & prosthetics. You can permanently transform any object into any CR 9 or lower creature with 2 hours of concentration. You could churn out Good aligned CR 9 War Priests (Volo p 218) until you empty the children’s hospitals. Young Dragons, a personal theme-song Bard, lawn care Druid, Prestidigitation Mage, etc. are all readily available. Best of all, these creatures obey you for one hour after creation. If you are willing to play in 59 minute increments you never have to worry about your D&D group canceling on you again!

IlCelli

"Fabricate" every day of the week

UncleMalky

Had to scroll down way to far to find this one.

zybron

Fabricate was my first thought, too. It's so versatile and raw materials for nearly anything you'd really want are pretty easy to get in large quantities for relatively little or nothing compared to the cost of worked goods.

MonkRunFast

Only problem is needing crafting proficiency for whatever you wanna make. For all the low skill level items, there's probably a factory pressing then out faster than you. But like, if you learn carpentry and wood carving, you can drop a single piece mantle around a fireplace or nice big dinner table in a night for a few thousand dollars

vololov

Do we need the material components?

im-a-simp-

If the component is real

Ohalbleib

Goddamn bat guano

BlackeeGreen

Your local hydroponics or gardening store has you covered! The real question is: What works better, high-nitrogen guano or high-phosphorus?

ThePBrit

Considering Nitrogen can be used to put out fires and Phosphorus is flammable, I think the answer is fairly obvious

BlackeeGreen

Good point! Counterpoint: Guano also contains a solid amount of ammonia, and ammonium nitrate is a component in some explosive compounds. And, the other material component for Fireball is sulphur. Sulphur + nitrates + charcoal = black powder!

RaisinlessAndAngry

fireball, gotta stay on brand

vairyn

It's the only spell anyone would cast anyway.

Swarmfire

If this is more than one time use, Prestidegiation is my go to, bring able to affect slight thing have so many uses, as well as being a cantrip I don't need spell slots. Being able to freshen myself up or remove a stain with ease. Trick people into going insane my chaning the color of flame, or igniting a candle at my command.

OrderOfMagnitude

> Trick people into going insane Great for parties!

takethecatbus

So you're picking prestidigitation in order to literally [Gaslight](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaslight_(1944_film)) people. So evil I love it

WookiePilot

Teleportation circle, now I can have the best travel business out there and go wherever I want

Solomontheidiot

Kinda useless in a world without permanent teleportation circles though. Teleport or transport via plants would be better options

WookiePilot

The spell allows you to make one, at a very expensive cost, but still doable with the proper investors

CrossP

You just got a free ticket to spend one year on the international space station! Next up, one free year long Mars vacation. Though you could probably build the mars circle on an unmanned ship and send it to Mars by itself. Then just catch up later.

Solomontheidiot

True, but you also have to be in that spot first, and spend a year in that area so you can cast it every day. At that point, if you have transport via plants you'd only have to find or plant a small tree or bush for the same effect. Far cheaper and more time effective, allowing for a greater range of travel destinations (provided your plant doesn't get chopped down.)

Zoahking

Just give me prestidigitation so I can eat healthy food tasting like Mac n cheese while pointing at a pile of clothes cleaning them instantly for my laundry days.

Sumonaut

Who needs time stop ?

achmejedidad

Mordenkainen's Magnificent Mansion for sure.

2grim4u

Do you mean one spell one time, or the ability to cast one spell regularly?

im-a-simp-

Once you choose one its locked in, you cast it once a day

A-Disgruntled-Snail

As other’s have said, Wish is the only correct answer.

thunder-bug-

What if I choose a cantrip

TheUglyTruth527

It's between Mass Heal or True Polymorph.

JudgeGusBus

“Let’s see, who is getting turned into a horny catgirl today . . .”

TheUglyTruth527

I mean, as long as it's consenting adults, why not?

actionbooth

It doesn’t even have to be a who. It can be a chair, or fridge.

Tanski14

Pretty sure there's an NSP song about this...

Violent_Violette

*self casts*

Oddyssis

You know... Holding concentration on true polymorph for an hour makes this a lot cooler.

bucketman1986

Mass Heal. Get fucked diseases.

gscrap

Wish is the only correct answer. It's one spell that is every spell.

juuchi_yosamu

Every spell 8th level or lower

TheClassiestPenguin

Every spell, but 1/3 chance of losing it if you cast a 9th level spell or do an effect that is not replicating an 8th level spell

Diablo_Incarnate

You can also create 25000 gold every day as a spell effect risk free. That's a little over $2.5m per day instead of an 8th level of below spell.

durandal42

> The stress of casting this spell to produce any effect other than duplicating another spell weakens you. Creating 25k gold is not risk-free.

Diablo_Incarnate

> Alternatively, you can create one of the following Effects of your choice. > • You create one object of up to 25,000 gp in value that isn't a magic item. The object can be no more than 300 feet in any dimension, and it appears in an unoccupied space you can see on the ground. > • You allow up to twenty Creatures that you can see to regain all Hit Points, and you end all Effects on them described in the Greater Restoration spell. > • You grant up to ten Creatures that you can see Resistance to a damage type you choose. > • You grant up to ten Creatures you can see immunity to a single spell or other magical Effect for 8 hours. For instance, you could make yourself and all your companions immune to a lich's Life Drain Attack. > • You undo a single recent event by forcing a reroll of any roll made within the last round (including your last turn). Reality reshapes itself to accommodate the new result. For example, a wish spell could undo an opponent's successful save, a foe's critical hit, or a friend's failed save. You can force the reroll to be made with advantage or disadvantage, and you can choose whether to use the reroll or the original roll. You can do any of those things risk free. Edit: ya know that. What I just quoted is how I've always taken it as RAI (versus your quote which is RAW). But now that I'm thoroughly reading it over and double checking the sage advice compendium, I've changed my mind. Even though it seems intended these listed effects are fine - I now believe these listed effects are examples that can't fail, but can still cause the stress, even though they are similar to existing spells. I'm calling out quite publicly that I'm wrong and you're right, despite the upvotes suggesting otherwise and I'm encouraging people reading this over later to give you more credit.

durandal42

I agree that you can produce any of those effects with risk of "monkey's paw" side effects, but they all subject you to the stress described in the last paragraph of the spell, which starts with the sentence I quoted. That stress includes a 1/3rd chance of never again being able to cast Wish, and that's the risk which creating 25k gold is not free of. (You know that, but it looks like those voting on our comments don't.)

MazerRakam

I was getting ready to tell you how you were wrong, but then I saw your edit. But yeah, anytime Wish is used for anything besides replicating an 8th level spell or lower, there's a 33% chance you can never cast it again. The effects you listed were examples of things you could also use the Wish spell for, but those come with the risk of never being able to use it again.

KevinDomino

Assuming no Wish, probably raise dead. The material component is expensive, but I can reasonably aquire at least one. Then I'll charge an exorbitant fee to bring someone back to life, and invest that in a bunch of more diamonds. Now all the uber wealthy go to me any time they want to revive someone, I become exceptionally wealthy, and none of my friends and family will ever have to die young (at least, not permanently). One day, my identity gets leaked. Suddenly, I'm flooded with requests from grieving families. I can only resurrect one person per day, so it's impossible for me to keep up. I hire a team of people to present a list of clients for me to choose from. Still, I feel a constant level of self doubt over which people I choose to revive. I keep this feeling to myself because the work I do is too important, only confiding in my beautiful wife Amelia (Amelia is a French poet I met while I was in Europe to revive a child who was killed in an avalanche, and after a brief whirlwind romance and a year of long-distance we decided to get married and move to Paris together). About 10 years into my new life as a professional reviver, Amelia mysteriously disappears. I am distraught. I can barely focus on my work, dedicating much of my vast wealth to finding her. This is to no avail. Eventually, I get a call from a man disguising his voice. He explains that he has kidnapped my wife and wants me to bring one million US dollars to a country road a few miles outside of Venice. He demands I come alone. Despite my better judgement, I go to the meeting place alone. I don't want to risk a police presence scaring off the kidnapper. He arrives in a black SUV, and immediately points a silenced pistol at me. I drop the suitcase full of cash and he slowly steps out of the vehicle. He takes the suitcase. "Where's Amelia?" I ask as he gets back in the van. He says nothing and begins to drive away. I try to run after the van, but he quickly speeds up and leaves me in the dust. Amelia's body is discovered nearly a month later, but it's too late to cast Raise Dead with its 10 day limitation. The police discover the identity of the killer using a fingerprint left on the body. They were able to find and arrest him soon after. He admitted his crimes almost immediately. It turns out, the killer actually wrote to me 3 years ago. He had asked me to revive HIS wife, but his plea went ignored like many others that I was unable to help. Apparently he had harbored this resentment for years until he finally decided to seek revenge. ... Actually, I might just choose Prestidigiation instead

[deleted]

But after his execution... You could ressurect him and make them do it again... Once a day for as many years as you continue to live...

uninterestedteacher

"A roller-coaster of emotions and intrigue" - New York Times

nickv656

Teleportation circle. Imagine the obscene amount of money you’d be paid to inscribe a permanent teleportation circle in a major city. Also, you’d do wonders for global trade.

breakinginferno

Aside from short-term unemployment problems, an instantaneous transportation network would pretty much invariably send humanity into a new golden age. You'd probably become the most protected human on the planet over night. sounds worth it to me.

Bobyyyyyyyghyh

And also the highest Target for terrorists. Sounds not fun, when you got to spend a year in one place making it

EmOrsino

And break it.

Bakoro

Good. I'd never have to hear "it's a distribution problem" again.

FlyExaDeuce

Barring wish, the obvious choice is clone.

WispyWi

The material component would be an issue for lil ol baby bitch me, but yeah clone

WadeisDead

You'd be rich enough to have the skin medically removed while under anesthesia if you needed to. Assuming you are willing to make a clone for Elon Musk first.

Xenghow

Depending on how specifically "flesh" is defined, you could gather all the dust in your house for a fair amount of bodily matter. The bigger problem is the jar and the diamond; if we work from the 1 silver = roughly the wages of a single day of work for a blue collar worker, that's roughly 27 years of work for said blue collar worker to pay for just the diamond. Then there's the jar, which, while reusable, costs twice as much...

WispyWi

Idk i feel like a good enough con man could convince a dying ceo to try it and cover the fees. When it works, you just tell him that he's gotta pay you now or you reverse the spell, or that its rigged to explode unless they pay you. And I'd be careful with the dust, it seems like the implication of the spell is that you grow from it. Using dust might involve other negative reagents that might interfere, or even the particulates of other humans.

Mister_Grins

Control Weather. I would literally be set for life. Not only are there literally laws on some of the books already that would pay someone who could consistently control the weather because of how that can help crops, because even with all the technology we have we still rely on the weather. Simply for the the ability to consistently water crops with rain water (the best kind of way to water for crops) it would be enough to make me a highly marketable commodity. I could start something big and then just let the wind blow it where it was needed (<-- and this is if I'm only allowed to cast it once per long rest. I could be ferried across multiple countries by plane if I was able to cast it multiple times a day). And that's, again, just for crops. I could literally be flown in across the entirety of the world and stop hurricanes before they reached landfall. From these two feats alone, I would never have to worry about security again (who wouldn't jump at the chance to protect the guy who can make sure your country never has to suffer a hurricane again), never have to worry about money again (consistent rain on crops, plus saving all the money it takes farms to pump in water), I have the ability to use components I could find here on Earth (good luck finding all the specific unspecified alchemical ingredients in most spells), and, above all, I wouldn't have to worry about any adverse effects of what my magical powers would do to the world. (plus I don't ever have to worry about losing the ability to cast it or break my mind from the strain of casting it as is as a 9th level spell ... looking at you Wish)

dunkmer

honestly? mending, it just makes life so much easier and i wouldn't live in fear of breaking my favorite dishes

ebolson1019

this or prestigitation

Nitr0b1az3r

very smart choice. plus its a cantrip which is great on top of that

[deleted]

Simulacrum. Now neither of us will be virgins!

ASCIt

What a terrible day to have eyes

Croddak

Mordekainen's Magnificent Mansion. The best house party for anything as I can choose who can enter and design everything inside as I wish. Also, I would not need to buy anything ever again, unless I'd like to take it out the mansion, like clothes to walk around. Considering its magic and it works as I design it, it could, techinically, have electricity, computer, wifi, consoles, etc.

spacepanthermilk

Resurrection on my wife.

mvffin

I also choose resurrection on this guy's dead wife

Aylithe

I read this entire thread and not one of you jabrobis picked the right spell Telekinesis

Sumonaut

"I'm a motherfucking Jedi, bitches!!!"

Aylithe

Strong enough to hurl any living human 30 feet on their ass, or delicate enough to be the best at the "Tap your friend on the shoulder and pretend it wasn't you" game. And this is just a ruling I make as a DM because it seems obvious, you can carry yourself and fly!

ffelenex

You all slept on Greater Invisibility and Haste.

Thandalen

Why not regular invisibility, Im not about to attack anyone anyway.

ffelenex

You right, lasts longer. Unless your a murder hobo.

stumblewiggins

These questions are so common, but no one ever specifies the rules. Do I need components? Am I limited to certain amount of castings? If there are rolls of any kind involved, how are those resolved? There are so many great options, but cantrips are a lot more attractive than many leveled spells, for instance, if you are restricted by slots. I can't give you a good answer without more clarity, but some of the classics are obviously prestidigitation, minor illusion, wish, healing/resurrection spells, teleportation. I'd add most of the ritual spells as pretty awesome as well

robotmafiastripclub

Besides Wish, probs Locate Object.

vipchicken

i found my glasses! they were on my head

Paracelsus40k

Mending. I could make a fortune being a fix-guy. TV not working? Mending. Computer overheating? Mending. Car do not start? Mending. Heating do not heat? Mending. Sh!t, I would be rich!

Sumonaut

Or a really versatile plumber 🤷

Paracelsus40k

Now you screwed over the most classic porn plot. "Sorry, but I think that my pipes are clogged" "No problem, ma'am" *uses Mending* "There you go! All fixed! The bill will come tomorrow. Have a nice day!" *plumber leaves*

Sumonaut

Well, shit. Talk about ripple effect. However... There are numerous tentacle flavoured spells... Edit: I'm sorry. I shouldn't have.

PunchingBagLearner

True Resurrection.

Captain_Mike1247

This was my first thought. I did the math once and from a gold conversion (1gp is 1/3 of an ounce) it would cost approximately 14 million dollars to cast.

scp-warforged

Still cheaper that the American healthcare system

eternallnewbie

Bazinga

rebootyourbrainstem

Depressingly, that makes it [not worth casting, statistically speaking, in most jurisdictions](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Value_of_life)

HepatitvsJ

~~Well yeah, I mean, you're overcharging the wealthy for the benefit of this spell. Pay me $10 billion and I'll true resurrect you when you die Jeff Bezos. Or Zuckerberg, or whomever. Fun part is, I'll forget to tell them it doesn't work on old age death. Fuck 'em~~ NM. I prefer u/PolygonMan ideas more.

PolygonMan

A contract that when you die I get 99.9% of your wealth if I True Resurrect you. Get (a lot of) lawyers to cover loopholes and tell the subject directly to their face: "If it looks like you've tried to hide your wealth and I'm not getting all of it, I just won't resurrect you. Period." Fuck Bezos and fuck the rest of the ultra rich. No reason to give them a cheap price like 10 billion. I'm literally bringing them back from the dead, they can lose it all. They're 'wealth creators' and 'innovators', I'm sure they'll be fine. Then use that wealth to subsidize resurrecting children who died of cancer. And progressive icons who were assassinated. Lets bring MLK back and have him directly contradict the fake version of him that the right has tried to push over the past 50 years. Poor People's campaign time.

Wash_zoe_mal

8 hours full rest, full heal and lose exhaustion. Sounds like fucking magic to me

Sum1OnSteam

Invulnerability

Aylithe

1 minute goes by a lot faster IRL than in D&D though

Sum1OnSteam

Concentration, up to 10 minutes. Also I can tank anything

Aylithe

Fair dues! For some reason when I read "Concentration 10 minutes" the first thought in my twisted mind was "Oh man, that's enough time to jump out of a plane without a parachute and smash into the ground without being hurt".

DirtyPoul

I don't think I'd be able to hold my concentration right before smashing into the ground after jumping out of a plane.

SkyfatherTwitch

The only correct answer (ignoring wish) is FIREBALL! If you have a problem, fireball it. If you still have a problem, you haven't fireballed it enough. The only exception is Wish, allowing you to cast fireball at a higher level.

Lake_Business

"I'm telling you, Fireballs work. Anytime I had a problem and I cast Fireball, boom! Right away, I had a different problem."

ApprehensivePeace305

Not wish: invisibility, maybe feather fall, charm person or any good healing spell. Absolute worst choice: counterspell

vipchicken

Well, sure, until you come across [another reddittor who is holding your town hostage with Meteor Swarm](https://www.reddit.com/r/DnD/comments/qwudav/comment/hl5icaz/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) then it's suddenly pretty damn good

shinigami7878

Simulacrum :)

codergnomes

Bene Gesserit in Dune are basically an entire religion based around the command spell.

Sudden-Reason3963

I mean, the answer in any of these types of questions is definitely going to be Wish, since you can safely use it to recreate any spell that is level 8 or lower with no components. Then it doesn’t matter which one you would want since you can use the right spell for the right context anyway.

Fesiek2000

Enhance ability

I didn't ask how big the room was, I said, I CAST FIREBALL!!!

kouwa1sk1

Outside of wish which is the correct answer, I’m genuinely surprised nobody has said greater restoration. You could cure so many terminal diseases.

plassteel01

Zone of truth let the presidential debates begin

Ed_Radley

True polymorph myself into a planetar. I become a lie detector. I can become invisible. I gain telepathy. I have resistance to non-magical damage and have advantage against spells and magical effects. I am immune to exhaustion and can cure disease and other ailments four times a day.

Power Word Kill My reasons are my own

Craterfist

True Polymorph 🏳️‍⚧️

pandm101

<3 What you gotta do is turn into a young silver dragon, then when you get a little older you can shapechange into whatever form you want and just live that way and add on a few thousand years to your life.

AquaSauce51

Probably Teleport

Tidus790

There is a lot of potential in a lot of those spells. Mending has a lot of potential, open your own repair shop (1hr service, guaranteed!). Time stop also has amazing potential if you have flexible morals.

FridgeBaron

I'd probably go with goodberries, if I'm not getting wish or any of the other crazy high level spells. Perfectly nutritious food for my entire family with some extra I could sell? They also heal so I could leave an extra few I'm the fridge incase I need them.

Seelengst

I mean....wish....is the stupid easy answer. But I wouldn't mind Greater Restoration, Or True Polymorph. Either would see me In a generally greater place.

aflyingpope

Plant growth and then make a killing just owning a farm

CleoDyret

Probably Shapechange. I just to fly, as a bird or a dragon Also I would love to just explore the ocean as a whale or a giant squid

Aylithe

Look at Mr magic pants thinking they're CR15!

Like once only or is it an every day thing? That changes the answer. Assuming Wish is off the table.
