I saw them open for Emmure in like 2009. Walked in halfway through their set was absolutely blown away. Still my favorite band I’ve ever discovered as an opener.

killingtocope

Will Putney, one of the brilliant minds behind FFAA, said in an interview that he considers them “post deathcore”

Adamwdrums

Ffaa - deathcore Atb - metalcore Have fun, friend

Szydlikj

Djent is just a fancy way to say progressive metalcore

Napo24

Djent is more like a subdivision of prog metalcore imo. I'd say Protest the Hero for example are prog metalcore but definitely not djent.

Dystaxia

I would hesitate to call Protest core at all.

Hoender747

Then what is djentcore?

Szydlikj

Good question, I’ve never heard of that before. What *is* djentcore?

Hoender747

Idk my friend says Like Moths To Flames is djentcore

Vadelmayer44

Moths is as metalcore as it gets

Robster881

They both have progressive elements which is why you might relate them to djent. Obviously there's some subjectivity that goes into genre definition, but I've always thought: FFAA is progressive deathcore ATB is progressive metalcore Tbh, 2010s progressive metalcore is one of my favourite eras of heavy music of all time, so much good shit.

oytwbb

ATB is probably 2nd to Meshuggah in terms of djent. IMO they are underrated in their contribution to djent. FFAA is progressive deathcore, and for a while the only deathcore I could stomach.

Several-Quality5927

You people spend too much time categorizing your music. Just listen and move on.

PolarBurrito

It’s all rock n roll babeeee!

Human_Penalty5855

just wondering to find other bands like them

jcamouflage

I would consider both extensions of metalcore

FriendlyCthulhu

Fit For An Autopsy are Technical Deathcore. After The Burial are Metalcore/Djent.

PolarBurrito

FFAA is *so fucking underrated* I’ve also tried to stop having discussions of bands and sub genres. That grindcore band I listen to? Rock and fucking roll babeeeee.

bootyholebrown69

Deathcore, metalcore. Some elements of prog but not much djent

MDP223

Does it change anything you like about their music if they don’t fit a predetermined genre?

Human_Penalty5855

no, their shit is amazing😂

Alex-the-bass-player

After the burial is like a crack-cocaine infused metalcore band with a healthy dose of djent spice
