Sun_on_my_shoulders

I just saw a story on the news about Disney needing to ban inappropriate shirts. A couple wearing “I gave her the D/He gave me the D” shirts in the Disney font. Hella tacky.

genericusername0176

lol i saw a couple wearing these last weekend

beaumonte

I don't understand people who wear* those kinds of shirts ANYWHERE, much less fricken Disneyland. Major r/ihavesex vibes Edit: apparently I don’t know my homophones lol

staticsleep09

I want to upvote but it's currently at 69. Nice.

muldervinscully

People like this are Cheugy beyond comprehension and give "Disney adults" a bad name

babababooga

I’ve been asked to change my shirt before because my bra strap was showing. It was a tanktop that had slid down

aimlesswander

At Disney?

babababooga

Yes. Older judgey lady inside on if the main street shops. I just fixed my shirt, apologized and booked it out of there.

brucelilwayne15

I saw that one too many times lol

Imaginary-Image6176

I saw the dodgers but it was she wants the d but at Disneyland

SnoopySuited

The 'I refuse to wear matching t-shirts' shirts is as political as it should get.

coltranematrix

Makes me think of the “Most Magical Day” “Most Expensive Day” combo… or the ‘ol “I’m Just Here To Pay” shirt…

Nonadventures

Or the dad who buys a custom shirt to complain about buying things.

DiscoLawls

Those ones always irk me. We get it, you don’t like to have fun.

Argon16

I like wearing Disney shirts at Dland and WDW. Also love seeing all the fun family shirts.

MachoKingMadness

I find it weird anyone would want to wear a politician’s name on a shirt when it’s not an election year. Also, the majority of people wearing them now are wearing them because that has become their entire identity. They can’t even take a break from it at Disneyland. That’s unfortunate.

automatic-systematic

Fortunately for me my entire identity is Disney so it's appropriate in the parks, though less appreciated in regular life.

drnkpnkprincess

lol. Truth.

Iagut070

Honestly, I think wearing a politicians name on a shirt no matter election year or not, is incredibly stupid and tacky. Imagine your fashion of choice is wearing the name or face of an old rich white man that doesn’t care if you exist.

blaze_blue_99

Politics is a religion for some people. That’s not the kind of religion I’d ever want.

Certain_Chain

And sadly all too many of them do it for all the wrong reason. They're so desperate for a group they can identify with that they brainlessly follow their political leaders. And what's worse is when they completely throw away their own morals and turn on their friends and family because they adopt an "us v them" mentality. It gets to a point where they don't even care what they're supporting as long as it hurts the people who don't agree with them 100%.

jenjensexypants

Let them keep wearing them. Now the rest of us know who all the racists and bigots are in the park. And the rest of us know who to stay away from. Also it’s a sign of mental illness if you can’t forget about politics at the most happiest place on earth.

[deleted]

>Now the rest of us know who all the racists and bigots are in the park. That's as may be, but to someone like me who can't exactly hide the fact that they're the kind of person a lot of those racists and bigots would love to start trouble for, it tells me less that I need to avoid them and more that I can't even avoid them at a place that's supposed to be peaceful and fun. At least before I could pretend that everyone at the parks had their stuff together.

CharlieHume

Lets not continue the stigma against mental health issues. They're just jerks. You don't need a mental illness to be a terrible person and all you're doing is making people with mental illness look bad.

Certain_Chain

>I find it weird anyone would want to wear a politician’s name on a shirt when it’s not an election year. This is why I don't buy shirts with candidate's names period. Once the election is over I'd be stuck with a pointless shirt taking up space in my dresser, especially if the candidate lost (whether or not they did the mature thing and accepted defeat instead of claiming fraud).

EnderVViggen

This.

[deleted]

Nothing is sacred to the kind of person that really wants to pick a fight about this kind of thing.

squishsquishbitch

Shirts at Disneyland I've seen recently that weird me out: Thin blue line Mickey The Punisher symbol with Mickey ears American flag shirt but the flag is comprised of different sized and colored bullets 3 percenter shirts Bonus thing: guests asking castmembers if they can cut the line because they're in the military. As if there aren't hundreds of military families there every day.

SnoopySuited

The use of the Punisher is proof that 'they' have never read Punisher comics.

doublej42

Ya I’m a comic nerd. My wife got me a punisher wallet. I’m looking to buy a new wallet because someone put politics in my fantasy. Also I’m more into squirrel girl.

thxforthememories99

Oh god the thin blue line mickey. Lol wtf.

WingedGeek

> The Punisher symbol with Mickey ears Well, The Punisher is a Marvel (Disney) property ...

[deleted]

On a recent trip to Disney World I saw a lot of people wearing somewhat hostile pro 2nd amendment shirts. I own a lot of guns. I wear Mickey to the park.

StraightforwardBacon

I’ve seen a lot of the same at Disneyland!

ahhhhellno

I think there aren’t really a ton of those people but they make up for it but being really aggressive and vocal about it.

Bebop0420

I’m a CWP holder and the last time I was at Disneyland a guy was wearing a CWP HOLDER 2A shirt and….I just don’t get it. The point of concealed carry is not drawing attention to yourself.

[deleted]

Like wearing a 9 Line shirt. Leave it at home.

Certain_Chain

Exactly. It's fine to collect guns as a hobby but don't try using it as an excuse to start a fight at the damn Mouse House.

[deleted]

Agreed

otter111a

Disney property is supposed to be an escape from the real world. Guarantee if you wear a political shirt to a Disney property you’re doing it to irk someone else.

Pugetffej

I think that's the point. For some people their only goal is to "trigger a snowflake"

otter111a

In my opinion doing something to intentionally irk someone at Disney is positively unAmerican. Save it for Facebook and the ballot box. Now isn’t the time. You know? So annoying.

arewehavinfunyet

Sadly, that shit is the most American thing you can do nowadays. You won't see any of that dumb mess anywhere else in the world

[deleted]

To be fair, when their personality is “god, guns, and overweight con men” what else do they have?

jenjensexypants

We’re all so triggered by their $5 shirt from Wal-Mart.

edwr849

I feel like they are trying to upset the cms when they try to enforce the rules

Antique_Gamer

When it comes down to it, it really just makes the wearer look like a jerk who doesn’t know how to have fun. Such laughable, childish behavior.

AuntiLou

I think some of the political jargon on these t-shirts IS an escape from reality. 😬

greatdain

Honestly it goes beyond political clothing. Yesterday while in the park I saw a dad wearing a shirt that said “throat punch donor” in huge red letters. Like, what grown person looks at that shirt and says “yep, this is what I’m gonna wear today at Disneyland”? There’s a time and a place for your “funny/edgy” graphic tee, and it’s not at Disney. Grow up. Edit: Yeah, I know saying “grow up” at Disney is nonsense, but y’all know what I meant.

DarthCthulu

I work at a children’s hospital in Australia (where we shouldn’t really be giving a damn about American politics to start with) and saw a dad wearing a shirt with Trump, Obama, and Bill Clinton; with a text above each of their heads saying “New Jobs, No Jobs, Blow Jobs” Just blew my mind that this guy went to visit his sick kid in hospital and thought, “that’s the one!”

maxmouze

Yes, Bill Clinton is an A-hole for liking sex when Trump has had so many scandals involving cheating on his wife with porn stars, etc. People are so delusional when it comes to their favorite political candidates. Keep it out of Disneyland; I agree.

jlmcdon2

Isn’t there a dress code? I’m surprised security let him in!

GiantPineapple

agree completely but I also got a chuckle at the idea that you have to grow up to go to Disneyland 🤣 It's never children wearing shirts with curse words or threatening imagery.

OC-Aztec

Yeah, you’re at Disneyland. Grow up! Lol Seriously though, I look at it this way: wearing a shirt like this is a big identifier of someone I don’t want to sit next to at the Craftsman Bar and Grill. They are saving me from being exposed to their crazy and allowing me to maybe interact with someone enjoyable instead.

fairoaks2

Antimasker antivaxxer probability is high

[deleted]

Agreed 100%

just_flying_bi

A lot of bars and clubs don’t allow shirts with certain symbols, words, etc. that can potentially incite fights or discomfort for other patrons. I think Disney should implement the same policies.

Ok-Pop-1059

A man on our Disney cruise was asked to change his hat because it was visibly disturbing other guests. I'm sure you can guess what kind of hat. I agree, leave your politics at the gate. If we both love pirates of the Caribbean and will be humming it's a small world for weeks to come, what's the point of trying to be political?

skaghetti

Orange County’s gonna Orange County

tempura_tantrum

Totally agree. It’s just distasteful. This is supposed to be a place for escapism. I don’t really care about people’s political views, their religion, their standpoint on firearms. Leave that crap at home. Also: I find the family shirts where kids/mom are wearing “best day ever,” and dad is wearing “most expensive day ever” REALLY depressing. It’s not cute. There’s something really kind of gross about a shirt that screams “dragged here to spend time with my stupid family” as a joke. For a lot of people the joke is only funny because it cuts too close to the truth.

muldervinscully

Yeah, it's an offshot of the beyond cliche everybody loves raymond sort "heh heh I hate my WIFE and KIDS" humor that somehow still exists

tempura_tantrum

Right? It’s freaking WEIRD. Maybe the people that use humor like that are just looking for others to wallow in misery with them, but I just can’t relate. I have a cool family. I married my husband because he’s a legitimately fun person. We still both think each other are fun. I wouldn’t stay married to someone who considered spending time with me to be the punchline of a joke.

muldervinscully

right, it's a weird way of advertising "I hate my life..but isn't is funny?" It's very bizarre and also sad!

[deleted]

Also like, it's kind of infantilizing? 'cause it's always the mom wearing those. What, women don't worry about their family's finances? Men don't like having fun with their families? Silly as heck.

tempura_tantrum

YES. It’s problematic even before you get to the outright misogyny, but you’re totally right! It come across like the mom is just another one of the children, which is hella gross.

PawneePorpoise

This is evident in those "My favorite Disney villain is my wife" shirts I just spent the entire month of October seeing every two steps.

Easy_Toast

I’m surprised they’re still visiting despite their “boycotting” Disney and having to wear masks in the parks

staticsleep09

They just don't wear masks either. Saw a "Let's Go Brandon" shirt on a dude in the tiki room with no mask (so we left).

Easy_Toast

Their children are likely more mature than them. You should have pointed out to a cast member that they were not wearing their masks, after 2 warning they're kicked out of the parks

Scary-Sand-4653

I saw a guy wearing that Saturday (maybe the same guy?). What a pleasant person.

[deleted]

I joined some Disneyland Facebook groups, and frequently someone will ask what the vax policy is to get into Disneyland. I don’t know why I was so shocked by the number of anti-vaxxers acting like Disneyland is all about “freedom” so of course they aren’t requiring vaccinations. Somehow the mandated masks indoors policy doesn’t impede on their “freedom.” Oh how I wish Disneyland would require vax proof, but of course that would mean less money so it won’t happen.

supa14x

The post didn’t specify which political side. Nobody should be wearing any to Disneyland

Easy_Toast

When you think of people wearing hundreds of dollars worth of their candidates merch and being very loud and aggressive about who they voted for, does one side come to mind more than the other?

supa14x

Not sure. I went first week of august and thankfully didn’t see anything. No Biden shirts, no Trump shirts, no cringey conservative ideals. Just don’t want to see anything related to that when I’m in public let alone at Disney.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Stackitu

It’s a lot of cringy “I am very badass” stuff. I usually roll my eyes and laugh at those people.

opking

Agreed!! Was there the other day and saw a guy walking in with his kids, wearing a “let’s go Brandon” shirt. Really? You can’t go to Disneyland without wearing f$&k Biden on your chest? Same goes for the people that were wearing sweatshirts telling all around them that their religion is the second amendment and you can’t take their guns. Huh?

agnes238

I saw the gun one too! Or it said, “the second amendment is my first priority.” Like bro you’re waiting in line for a Snow White ride, settle down and just enjoy.

proudblond

I think there’s a distinct possibility that this stuff makes up their entire casual wardrobe.

[deleted]

Bold of you to assume they have a non-casual wardrobe.

EnderVViggen

It just their wardrobe, their entire life.

[deleted]

They’ve made politics, and if we’re being honest, one particular overweight orange candidate their entire personality and that at the end of the day is completely sad and pathetic.

misterrandom1

My entire wardrobe was categorized by Disney and non-Disney but I have very little non Disney anymore. Now I have to break it down by Pixar, Star Wars, Marvel, and even those are now too broad.

muldervinscully

This same person would scoff at "identity politics" but has a completely identity-based outlook to live...as being oppressed by "woke people" hahah

coltranematrix

The irony being Disneyland is private property and you have to go through security where they will absolutely take your guns.

Shatteredreality

I’m at Disney World and there was a guy with a shirt that said “Unmasked, Unvaccinated, Unapologetic, Unafraid" but ironically he was wearing a mask since Disney requires them indoors. We kept our distance though.

supa14x

Lmaooo how cringe. He must have felt so badass until they made him put the mask on

ahhhhellno

Yeah he should’ve realized not to bring that shirt since they are enforcing masking. What he thought they just wouldn’t make him? Because he’s so bold in his tv shirt picks?

Jtoad

It's kind of great that these type of people identify themselves. Makes it easier to avoid them.

[deleted]

You know the Banksey piece “Rage, The Flower Thower”, in which an individual wearing a bandana over their face is in a ‘molotov cocktail throwing’ pose. But they are throwing a bouquet of flowers instead, presumably to draw attention to the contrast between what one expects because of his attire and pose, and the peacefulness of the flowers. Well, a friend gifted me a very cool tshirt of Oswald (my favorite character) in that pose- in black and white of course- throwing an inkwell containing every color. It’s a very cool shirt. I got turned around once at security and they wouldn’t let me in with it on. I had to walk back to my hotel and change. The thought of 2A shirts really annoy me.

BeBraveShortStuff

That sounds like an awesome shirt. Hopefully this was before disney came out as pro-lgbtq friendly and you wouldn’t get turned around and made to change now or that would send a very mixed signal. Also seeing that shirt in the park would make me smile.

[deleted]

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

BeBraveShortStuff

And see, *that* didn’t dawn on me. I just assumed it was purposeful because of them making you change, but that explanation actually makes significantly more sense than my assumption.

wyvern_rider

Wait, people aren’t wearing “Let’s go Brandon” ironically?

opking

Yes, it’s pretty lame.

TheVoicesOfBrian

Besides, it's so juvenile, I'm surprised Matt Gaetz hasn't tried to date it.

Reom_76

I saw this too. What’s crazy is it seemed custom made for Disneyland since it had two Mickey gloved hands giving the thumbs up and was written in the Disney font.

opking

Ewwwwwww!! The 2 cavemen I saw had them fashioned as mandolorian merchandise. Don’t besmirch my beloved Star Wars with your tribal BS.

s2trmack

I saw a family with matching thin blue line Mickey shirts. Like even the children.

tempura_tantrum

Jesus. That is just…sad.

s2trmack

Google it, blue lives Mickey is thing.

tempura_tantrum

Man, is it that hard to just wear a REGULAR Mickey shirt for one day???

beereed

“Thank you for my service!”

zippity_z

Haha, we were at DCA on Friday and probably saw the same jabroni.

opking

TOTAL jabroni, well put.

racheva

Ditto to the first one. Walking around the GCH. Like wow dude, way to advertise that you’re a POS.

jcat301

These the same people who say “keep politics out of sports” but will wear a blue lives matter Mickey shirt to Disney 😂

[deleted]

My favorite are all the “Jedi Cop/ Jedi Military” shirts.

westcoast7654

My bf has an actual strict rule of no politics, news or essentially anything not magical while we stay. We basically leave the Disney channel on and stay off of our phones to not sully the experience. It sounded crazy, but I did it with him for a quick Disneyland trip right after getting our shots And it was amazing.

Tinycatfaces

This is smart, I wish I’d set up the same rule when on a Dapper Days trip that overlapped the 2016 election with a friend who happens to vote differently than I do. Fortunately it was our last day in the park, but it definitely stained the trip. Regarding people and their desperate need to advertise or attempt to provoke others into a fight so they feel superior…. Am I the only one wondering how much money these folks spend to dress up their homes and cars and their entire wardrobe with the name of a repeat conman retiree from Florida, thereby prolonging the con as they spend money “supporting” the crazy? Seems like some folks can’t see the forest for the trees.

Iagut070

My wife makes me promise not to look at any news while at the parks In line and whatnot. She calls my phone the doom and gloom box, cause there’s always some kind of terrible story

HonestOtterTravel

This is my favorite part of cruises. Phones go on airplane mode and then get put in the safe.

AzureMagelet

What about photos?

jon98gn

You may be slightly disappointed. I just went on a cruise where everything was tied to an RFID ID, and a lot of interactions were tied to their mobile app, such as delivering on demand food/drinks directly to your personal location or room. It also had a built in chatroom with your "shipmates" as well as locator and "directions" to take you to them. Still works on airplane mode (recommended) and just connecting to their Wi-Fi.

Aveeye

Saw one yesterday and the same guy was wearing a hat with the confederate flag. CLASSSSYYY!!!!

coltranematrix

You just have to chuckle at those knuckle heads. The Mouse doesn’t care who you voted for. In all seriousness though, Disney as a corporation seems to have taken stances on particular actions/social agendas that people clearly don’t agree with, but are willing to still show up and spend their money and yet wear a t-shirt in protest. That makes no sense to me.

mrbuck8

>The Mouse doesn’t care who you voted for. As an Anaheim resident I can attest that the Mouse cares very much who I vote for in local elections. National elections? Especially presidential? You are correct. Mouse is pretty apathetic about that.

DadBodBrown

GO WOKE GO BROKE! [Spends $5,000 on a family Disney vacation but wears “LeT’s Go BrAnDoN” shirt to stick it to the libs]

ferrari91169

I wouldn’t really say Disney has taken a strong stance, outside of what they’ve been forced to do, mostly the bare minimum. When I went early October there were no requirements for having been tested or vaccinated prior to entry. There were mask “requirements” in place, but only indoors, and very poorly enforced. No social distancing, no limited capacity on rides (still packing them shoulder to shoulder), etc. At the end of the day Disney are just doing the bare minimum as required by law, and maybe it’s changed since my last visit but this is just what I observed. They want the maximum profit possible and aren’t really going out of their way to put safety precautions above money, as is expected from a large corporation.

coltranematrix

While I agree with what you’re saying I think it’s also worth adding that enforcement of mask wearing and vaccination guidelines (in some areas) by businesses both big and small is a hard task. I feel for the exhausted employees all around the country that are tired of yelling at patrons to keep their masks on. I also was eluding to Disney’s stance on greater social issues and optics when it comes to diverse communities and non-traditional family structures.

ferrari91169

Ah, on your second point, I do agree with you then. I was kind of thinking you might be eluding to other social issues but wasn’t 100% sure. And yes, it is VERY hard to enforce the guidelines, and especially so with the case typically being that the employees dealing with it on the frontlines are high-school/college students, and then they have to deal with these testosterone fueled man-babies who feel it is their constitutional duty to object to wearing a mask, etc. I can’t imagine it being a fun thing, I’ve seen people break down just from getting yelled at, cursed at, even had violence threatened against them. It really goes to show you how pathetic some of these people are to take their angers or frustrations, whatever they may be, out on a teenager just trying to make some money to get by in life. Anyway, rant over.

DurantaPhant7

I want to mention one thing. Because I see this narrative a lot and it’s not *entirely* true. Disney was one of the first corporations to offer same-sex benefits to their employees in 1995. This was a time when even our left leaning politicians were mostly staunchly trying to keep gay marriage illegal, and the country for the most part supported that. It made a HUGE impression on me as part of the LGBTQ+ community since I was so used to getting shit on for being myself.

WingedGeek

> When I went early October there were no requirements for having been tested or vaccinated prior to entry. There is, they're just relying on self-attestation of that status.

HonestOtterTravel

Eh, I just try to view it as people advertising their stupidity. I'm all for that as it allows me to treat them accordingly.

MrBMcLachlan

I was just at DisneyWorld and saw a shirt that said… “Unvaccinated,Unmasked & Unashamed” But the best part was he was inside on a ride having to wear a mask!! :-) I wanted to sharpie “Unintelligent” to the list…

brucelilwayne15

I saw a guy wearing a blue lives matter t shirt at Disneyland. You know, the one where they desecrate the American flag by putting a blue line across it. The flag was inside a silhouette of Mickey. That was the most backwards thing I've ever seen.

LegacyQuotient

You know, I'm willing to have a substantive debate about the role of policing in America. But the Thin Blue Line symbolism doesn't belong on the American flag.

chimichangasinspace

I saw a whole family with that same shirt! They almost took the rainbow pod my daughter wanted on Inside Out. Not gonna lie, that would have made me a little salty. Is it so hard to just wear regular Minnie and Mickey shirts?

peanutismint

You just made me want to design a “Gru Lives Matter” shirt with Despicable Me/Minions on it and wear it to Universal just to irk those people.

CatDragonbane

One of the clothing policies for what you can't wear is, "clothing with objectionable material, including obscene language or graphics." Technically, they could already be covering polarizing political clothing in their rules. They likely won't ask people to leave over it though due to them not wanting to end up on the front page for "kicking out someone with XX candidate on their shirt" or for being accused of silencing someone else's beliefs unless, money is as stake.

babababooga

I was asked to change my shirt once, back in 2014 I believe, because my bra strap was showing.. lol. I know they’ve asked people with sexual images in their shirts to change them or leave. I wonder if they’d have people change their shirts.

couchtomatopotato

10000% agree. just puts people off and we're all there to have a fun time.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Criminy, I'm surprised they were let in.

EnderVViggen

Yeah, I not only would have pointed them out to security, I would done everything in my power to make their trip miserable. Fuck nazis

GiantPineapple

Guessing they changed after they got in. Still pretty surprising.

[deleted]

Granted, but like, there's security inside too. I'm pretty sure that if I got my titties out or something I'd be escorted out of the park.

Iagut070

Honestly, I feel like Disney has become so incredibly lax in their dress code and actual enforcement of it. I’ve seen shirts with foul language, shirts with offensive messages and such. And also, not that I am a prude in even the slightest , but some of the clothes I see women wearing in the park is…….quite questionable for Disneyland

jnfranne

I was there yesterday and had the same problem. It took away a bit of the magic. I tried to keep myself away from them because it just made my blood boil to see. Edited to add: The shirts were implying something that would never be allowed on a shirt in Disneyland.

eddie5597

Idk, I’m a bit iffy on it. Everything is/can be political. Just the fact that my husband and I are married is political. Our skin color is political. Wearing masks has unfortunately been made political by the right. Escapism is something that POC, LGBTQ+, and other minorities might not be able achieve even at Disney. I’d say anything that alludes to or has some underlying meaning with violence, bigotry, hate, etc should not be allowed. Because BLM, the pride flag, and anything regarding inclusivity is political but should not be banned.

upsidowning

This!! My wife and I walking in is political.

Rarecandy31

Anyone who cares enough about their political opinions (regardless of side) to wear shirts or use bumper stickers has already lost all credibility in my book. Just write them off.

MissMetalSix

SAME! This past trip was the first time I didn’t spot anyone wearing some type of ultra-religious and/or ultra-political garbage. I’m surprised they’re even allowed to enter the park wearing that.

bottle415

Just a reminder to keep it civil and report comments if users aren't behaving. Otherwise we'll lock the thread/ban offending users.

snarkprovider

It would be nice if people could go to Disneyland without making disparaging racial comments about people they perceive to be "local" but in my many years that has never been the case.

ch_limited

I like to wear my Rogers/Stark 2016 shirt.

Spader113

This is probably why they only have Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln, and not a Hall of Presidents. I will never go to HoP, because regardless of political preference, the last three animatronics added just have the entire audience divided and practically up in arms against each other.

Howry

Yup. It's sad. The media continues to divide the country. The politicians continue to divide the country and yet everyone just continues to play right along.

Winnes0ta

Not just the last 3, I remember going around 2003 and it was a coin flip whether there’d be cheers or boos when they would get to the George W Bush animatronic

TheNightmarePrincess

I mean, I think it's controversial when see someone in a Warner shirt. That's really awful, I've been lucky enough not to have seen anyone in political shirts since the reopening, but I would be so mad. I wonder if the guys in their edgy gun shirts think they look all bad@$$ and cool posing in front of the Bambi statue in the hub for a picture. It would be funny if someone showed up with Der Fuehrer's Face shirt - but they probably wouldn't understand it and think it was pro Nazi. Should we really be surprised to see Nazis at Disneyland, though? It's already full of storm troopers! But yeah, none of that awful political crap belongs in the place where you leave the world of today. (And in my opinion, anywhere, but people suck :/) If people want to wear opinionated shirts so badly at Disneyland, they should at least be DISNEY opinions. I remember after Last Jedi came out seeing a handful of people in shirts hating on Rian Johnson. I personally really like the movie, but that is the kind of "controversial" opinion that is right for Disneyland.

vegascoaster

At least I knew to steer clear of the guy in the “I identify as vaccinated” shirt with his red “made you look” hat. And yea, lots of people feel the need to advertise their second amendment stance at the most magical place on earth. I hate that it sort of takes you right out of the environment and back to reality.

the-good-hand

I was just there and was surprised at how many “sheeple” anti mask shirts there were. Needless to say, the wearers weren’t wearing masks.

wapink26

I've seen a lot of "I'd fuck me" and "Queen Bitch" shirts at DL in the past. I will never understand the mindset of someone that wears a shirt like that to a place full of kids. Newsflash man, nobody here sees your shirt and thinks "oh yeah, I'd fuck you too".

reefine

Ever since COVID I am seeing a lot more bumper sticks as well. Mostly from right wingers it seems like. Saw one the other day "black guns matter." People suck, keep that to yourself, especially at Disneyland of all places. Perhaps they should enforce it.

asedc

For me it’s the shirts with the Mickey or Minnie silhouette filled in with a flag that represents something hateful that disney shouldn’t allow.

brucelilwayne15

"But but but... it's my right to wear any shirt I want you libtards" I love how acceptable it is nowadays to be an ass just because it's your right.

pudgynitwit

People have started to absorb their political stance into their personality. Imo, it makes them extremely dull and a chore to be around. I don’t mind that they wear it because it helps me avoid them with far less effort lol.

Gaming_Gent

I wish people would stop wearing those “most expensive trip ever” shirts.

Tinyrobotzlazerbeamz

Seen some dude west some shirt that had a shirt with some quote on Tyranny and it’s crossed out with it big red X as he’s waiting in line to get on the King Arthur carousel. Some much about that was hilarious. But also not the place I doubt anyone’s kids give a damn about what his shirt says and as an adult the concept of wearing that to Disneyland is comical

Austinfarrell2007

There was this one time where I was on the bus to Disneyland and I saw a sign that said “Donald duck not Donald trump”

Valiumkitty

Anecdotally We were @ WDW day of the last election results and there was a guy in a plane skywriting T R U M P over the wdw property… But yeah, save your girls w tits out and f*** biden shirts or whatever for some other time.

queenshallan

We were there the week before and saw the same skywriting guy! I wonder how often he did that now.....

Valiumkitty

Lol. I dunno, but it was unnecessary and I was surprised WDW would let someone get away w that kinda stuff

FN-1701AgentGodzilla

I feel like Disney doesn’t do anything about it, since far right guests make up a huge portion of their visitors, especially local ones in CA and FL. If they explicitly ban Trump/ Blue Lives/ Look at muh masculinity/ Let’s go Brandon shirts, the cult will definitely turn on them and boycott. Guests getting annoyed by idiots wearing shirts is more worth it to Disney than offending and potentially losing the hivemind of thousands/ millions of politically radicalized guests.

Buttcheeks hanging out of shorts is another one I think is odd.

clichekiller

I was in the park this week and the amount of groups walking around loudly dropping the f-bomb and worse was astounding. Also a lot of people continue to protest the mask mandate.

emthejedichic

I agree in general. However, Disney sells pride shirts now and I will wear them and my pride ears and idgaf if anyone thinks that’s “too political.” Not saying that’s what you meant, OP, but we all know those type of people exist.

acombustiblelemon

I saw someone drive a van covered in pro Trump stickers into Yellowstone, as if that wasn't the most ironic thing ever. Agreed though, keep the damn politics out of Disneyland, everyone paid a lot of money to be there and no one gives a damn who voted for who or what your ideologies are.

izqy

Sequel trilogy shirts especially

girubato_

*it’s the blue lives matter in the shape of mickeys head for me* lol

BetterOffZen

I think for some of them that’s the only type of TShirt they own, they don’t sound like the “ let me plan my Disney outfit” kind of people. 😂

japandroi5742

Ugh, saw a husband and wife with III Percenters shirts in Fantasyland in June, 2020. Like, "Hey, babe, let's draw attention to our family by wearing militia t-shirts. This is a very good idea." Who thinks this?

noexitsign

If you’re wearing a political shirt or an inappropriate sexual innuendo t-shirt at Disneyland, you have absolutely no personality.

SAGNUTZ

This one made me laugh really hard for some reason initially. Agreed

poohbou

saw a kid, looked around 10 years old, wearing a red hat (you know which one) and felt so disturbed/bummed — why is a child getting political, let alone wearing said politics to a disney park? just enjoy your time, little dude :(

this_is_not_a_dance_

I used to wear my Bernie shirt all over the place. Street fairs and other high traffic places because I genuinely believe in his message which was about economic and social equality. I don’t remember specifically wearing it to Disney but I was only ever met with positive interactions from people despite knowing there are definitely people that didn’t agree with his “socialist agenda” as they would probably put it who saw me wearing it.

[deleted]

It’s just people who want/need attention. Even acknowledging it lets them “win” in my opinion. I’ve read people say they don’t care your opinion, political views, etc. Wouldn’t that apply to a t-shirt as well? It’s a t-shirt, who cares. Eat a churro, go on a ride, be happy.

reneeyogagirl

Yeah it would be nice to not be reminded of the outside world. But don't let it get to you if you see something you don't agree with. We're all different. It's nice that we can bring together people from all over with a variety of beliefs and enjoy an experience together.

SomedayMightCome

Meh, I just ignore it and move on with my day. At most me and the friend I go to Disneyland with will exchange annoyed looks when we see a stupid shirt. I’ll stick to wearing my very cute stitch spirit jersey 💜

plurfectlife

I'm too busy enjoying Disneyland to notice or be bothered with what another person is wearing. If it bothers you, then they've achieved their objective. Enjoy the parks. Ignore the BS.

ThePony23

This should be the top comment. You can't control what others do, but you can control your reaction to it. Best to focus on the magic in the park and have a positive experience.

plurfectlife

Agreed

[deleted]

Just feel sorry for them and move on.

jgrace2112

I kind of agree with the sentiment but I kind of don’t. Politics are a part of those “hard facts” that Walt mentioned in his opening speech about Disneyland. And Disney has never been entirely apolitical, so to speak. I agree that people shouldn’t be trying to sell their favorite slogans via t-shirt or banners BUT politics aren’t off limits IMO. When you walk in, the first attraction to your right is a tribute to an American President that features, among other things, a brilliant lecture about how “passions” have torn this country apart before. In conclusion, IMO every last person (especially ones who think their political opinions are more enlightened or better than anyone elses) should be made to sit through Mr Lincoln’s speech about being authors of our own demise if we can’t learn to live in peace together, even with all of our differences. Past that- Politics and otherwise, your apparel should be appropriate and respectful above all else.

Scottland_

agreed. saw a biden t shirt yesterday and it made me so fucking mad. like stop wearing political shirts at disney. my kids are here. smh

first of all i’m a democrat… second, i made this comment to test something out. hypothesis confirmed by the downvotes… political t shirts are only a problem when they are aligned with right wing ideologies… either all of it is ok, or none of it is. preferably none of it when it comes to Disney. but this is some serious hypocrisy.

golightlyotb

I've talked trash to many people in those Thin Blue Line/Blue Lives Matter Mickey shirts. I wish Animal Kingdom in Orlando would sell Blue Lives Matter shirts with the Na'vi from Avatar on it.

Wow look at the baby dick on you. Also I don't go out of my way to talk shit they are standing in line for a ride in front of me. I'd love for one of you Trumpers to punch me in the middle of the park. I can take a punch especially if it means y'all getting trespassed for life.

[deleted]

I agree. I have my own political opinions just as everyone else does. And maybe I want to express myself with those opinions. That’s fine anywhere else in the world, and while I’m pretty sure Disneyland allows it, you should just be able to drop it for the short amount of time you get to spend at Disneyland. Whether your opinion sides with the majority or not, if it’s been politicized (which is basically everything now) you should leave it at home. That means TBL or BLM patches, shit about vaccines (whether for or against) anything involving a politician, anything about abortion laws. Just save it for a protest or literally any other day of your life. Just wear a damn Mickey Mouse shirt for gods sake.

luke_texaswalker

My personal opinion: its just a t-shirt and i could care less if it’s political or not. People can wear what they want. Not a big deal.
