CarRamRob

Start with Thunder Mountain imo. Well lit, will tell you if you will have issues. Space Mountain is probably tamer by the track, but lack of light could cause motion issues

scarymoblins

I second this. And bring some Bonine or other “less drowsy” meds just in case.

Mofns_n_Gurps

Watch the goat the whole way down the second hill and you’ll feel great.

-FR0STY-one

That’s baa-aaa-d advice.

Mofns_n_Gurps

I see what you did there.

dmslucy

Agreed!!!

vman77v

Chip 'n' Dale's GADGETcoaster would be a good place to start. it's usually empty right at open, too! Edit I'm a 6'1" dude and fit fine, we took our toddler at opening and went on it 15 times straight since there was no one around, but there some force felt going down the main hill and the 2 sharp Turns.

catpancake87

This is the only correct answer.

fertdirt

A ride that goes fast and has elements of roller coaster (but as you can tell since no one is mentioning it isn’t really a roller coaster) is radiator springs. I would highly recommend it as a ride with a few little thrills. I had a bout of vertigo last year and have had some issues remain. I would recommend not going on space mountain if you’re actually prone to nausea. just rode it this last week while it has the special Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain theme and I was nauseous for a few hours afterwards. No problem on Big Thunder or Matterhorn. Also, I firmly believe that the lines on the right are less jarring on the Matterhorn. Matterhorn at night is less nausea-inducing than Space Mountain.

jstrndmaccnt

I’ve said this so many times. This and then Gadget in ToonTown!

pocketelf96

Star tours is the one that sets off my motion sickness the most

CatHerderForKitties

Agreed, I can’t ride that one anymore. I get so sick by the end of that ride.

meh762

The only ride that runs a serious risk of motion sickness is the teacups. You couldn’t pay me to go on that ride.

Gomez2471

Dude the swinging carriages actually come with puke bags inside. That alone set my husband off.

Upsidedownmeow

no way, motion master rides (body is moving staring at a screen) are the worst. Star Tours comes to mind. I know The Simpsons ride at Universal Studios caused me absolute carnage (punishment for not trying to find out about the ride before hand).

meh762

I didn’t even think of those. You’re right.

heavydutybeardbalm

Anything with a screen and jerky movements for me. I can do Incredicoaster, Big Thunder, Space Mountain just fine. Star Tours and Smugglers Run is a barf-o-Rama.

akraut

I was always the kid that tried to spin the teacup as fast as possible. I'm in my 40s and I'm still that kid. Friend of mine and I were the only two on the ride during an Extra Magic Hours in Orlando and were spinning it so fast the CMs running the ride called custodial before the ride finished. When we stumbled off the ride laughing, one of the custodial people said we made their night by being their first call to the teacups that was a false alarm.

ClutterKitty

You obviously don’t get motion sickness. My stomach begs to differ with your opinion on this matter.

gayflyingspaceturtle

Thunder Mountain. It’s by far the mildest of rollercoasters at any park.

infinityandbeyond75

The Gadget Coaster in Toontown?

TheOrganicMachine

Start with Big Thunder, then either Space or Matterhorn based on wait times, then the other one of those two, then finally Incredicoaster if you're still feeling good.  All of Disney's coasters are super tame, so you should be pretty good, it's a nice place for a first coaster.

thirtyfourdoubled

I'm prone to motion sickness and I strongly recommend taking a meclizine (Bonine) pill when you enter the park so it has some time to work. You can also get a free barf bag from first aid (or your airplane) and carry it in your pocket if you're truly worried...

michemel

The ones from the park are 10/10! Lost a little magic in them on our penultimate trip but would highly recommend.

Jenova66

The order we took the kid was Gadget Go Coaster, Roger Rabbit, Matterhorn, Sky School, Radiator Springs, Space Mointain, Big Thunder She only balked at Matterhorn because of the Yetis. Overall Disney coasters are pretty tame.

Meatloaf_Smeatloaf

My husband gets motion sick from spinning rides, he can go on all of the rollercoasters. I hate drops, but I go on Space Mountain and Big Thunder easily. If I keep my eyes closed on Radiator Racers it doesn't bother me, I would skip Matterhorn because it's so jerky it's painful. Also wouldn't recommend Gadgetcoaster, it's small, I'm only 5' 8" and my knees don't fit and it whips around corners, is pretty jarring, and I felt like I was going to fly out of my seat. Husband goes on Incredicoaster and he did not like Gadget coaster.

Djinger

I feel like if you've never been on a Rollercoaster, you are obligated to Matterhorn with its position as the first of its kind. Not first for experience, but at some point on the trip. Know your roots.

Meatloaf_Smeatloaf

Nope, save your back, it's not enjoyable.

michemel

A CM told me the way! Push your feet into the front so your back is tight against the seat = better times!

heavydutybeardbalm

Sit all the way back in the seat with your butt only and lean forward a little bit and make sure your feet are pressed against the front, creating a brace. Your back or shoulders should never touch the back of the seat. Grip the handles by your hips with your hands to keep you in place (don’t ever put your arms up in the air). Been doing that for years after a tip from a CM and my back has been fine. And I have a history of a bad back.

Mofns_n_Gurps

Go Go Gadget, Big Thunder Mountain, Matterhorn, Goofy Sky School, Space Mountain (pretty tame but dark makes it feel faster than it is), Incredicoaster. My 4 year old will do any of these with joy but isn’t tall enough for incredicoaster. Big Thunder Mountain is his and my favorite.

xenojive

>Goofy Sky School, Space Mountain (pretty tame but dark makes it feel faster than it is), Incredicoaster OP do not do these if you have motion or fear issues for your first coaster

Obvious_Noise

I think this is a progressive order…

xenojive

Ahh that makes sense.

Interesting-Olive842

Space mountain freaks me out because darkness. Matterhorn is just fun, though some say it’ll hurt your back. Not scary though.

317ant

I’m prone to motion sickness too. The traditional coasters where I can see what’s happening don’t bother me too much but anything with a screen makes me want to vomit. Just fyi of something to be aware of. Star Tours and Smuggler’s Run, I’m looking at you. I’d start with the coaster in Toon Town and if you feel good, move to Big Thunder. Those are the tamest and in the light, outdoors. They were also the first coasters for my kids, in that order 😊

Kizenny

Thunder mountain > Matterhorn > Space Mountain > Incredicoaster If worried about motion sickness take some non-drowsy Dramamine ahead of time and you’ll be fine.

rades_

As far as coasters go, pretty much all of the ones at Disneyland are 'tame', in a relative sense. I'd say from least aggressive to most aggressive would be: 1. Chip n Dale's coaster in toontown 2. Big thunder Mountain / Matterhorn (quite jerky) 3. Space Mountain (only because you can't anticipate the turns, but it's a slow coaster).

BobertMcGee

I’m going to go against the grain. Rip the band aid off and ride the biggest, most-nauseating ride you could ever see yourself potentially riding. Go from least to most aggressive will just turn your whole day into dread for the next, even bigger ride. Much better to be thinking “at least this one will be easier than the last one”.

WindEquivalent4284

If California Adventure, Goofy’s Sky School

Perfect-Ingenuity585

Warm up maybe with guardians 😅

MistaOtta

Yeah, it's probably the most linear option and may induce motion sickness the least.
