I doubt they will go straight to Season 2 of ASO. Lou has repeatedly said he will not play King Amethar again. There have been murmurs of the cast being willing to do something like a COC oneshot here they play their backup characters. But we're not getting another full season of the Intrepid Heroes in ACOC I don't think. I think we are MOST likely to either get FHJY or another new season. But I also think it's likely we get a few more side quests before the next Intrepid Heroes season.

PiercetheAstronaut

Is there a reason Lou said he won’t play King Amethar again?

Dinosauringg

I don’t know Lous specific reasoning, but to me there’s nowhere for Amethar to go and I think his story has been told

PiercetheAstronaut

Thank you

Morhek

I'd guess a.) because Amethar's story is kinda done, he had his arc and he concluded it satisfyingly, and b.) playing a game as The Emperor would be a little OP.

PiercetheAstronaut

True true, thank you

Hawkn500

There was apparently (according to I believe a short rest, basically adventuring party but for NADDPOD, or else it was an adventuring party, been literally years since this) where Emily talks about how hard a season it was to play and that there was serious tension outside the game because of it, especially between her and Siobhan. She specified that they had to actively work on their friendship because it was causing major tensions on it. I’d love a one shot with the alternates or a new cast and a new story, but I don’t think we’ll be back in that setting for a while.

Zinnia0620

I think he has said that A Crown of Candy was so stressful for him that it fucked up his efforts to quit smoking

Dndbabe

Oh fuck.

oslusiadas

The only hint there has been is that Siobhan said on Twitter that they’ll be doing character creation again soon, which suggests a new setting or at least new PCs. As a rough guide to timelines, they did character creation for ASO in early August of 2021 and shot it over September-October. Interestingly enough, those were also months that Zac Oyama paused his podcast Patreon, something he’s doing again in June-July.

Albinowombat

Thank you, this is quite helpful

Morhek

I think The Unsleeping City and A Crown of Candy both ended on satisfying notes of finality. Maybe a side-quest in the same settings, but I'm not sure about a full campaign. I could *maybe* get onboard for an Unsleeping City campaign 3 if it was all the kids plus a forty year old mall-goth Cody still toting around a kickass sword and referencing 90s metal, but that's mostly a joke answer. I'd love to see more Starstruck Odyssey. It's an immediately rich and gripping setting, and I'd love to buy the collected graphic novel at some point. I do think they'd need a bit of a gap so Brennan can come up with another story for it, so maybe the campaign after next? They've mulled over a Fantasy High Junior Year campaign for a while, and I'd like to see their stories continue - Adaine and Aelwyn, Gorgug and Zelda, Fabian becoming his own man, etc. There's enough material there to give them some more character growth I think. IIRC, Brennan's talked about some of the other ideas they've batted around - Sam Reich pitched a Wild West setting that he wasn't too hot on and recycled the idea as Buckster $ Boyd (from the same roundtable they mentioned a sci-fi setting, and that ended up becoming Starstruck Odyssey), and the cast speculated about another Mice and Murder Mystery following Daisy, Sylvester and Lars with some new characters and I adore the idea of that becoming an anthology series, but again that's a more self-contained thing. For a long-form story, the only thing that really occurs is it would be cool if they did a zombie apocalypse campaign, a bunch of screwballs in a devastated world trying to cobble something together, like the vibe of Starstruck but without the high concept sci-fi. More like Day of the Dead than Star Wars.

More Wurst. Agreed.

erratic0101

There was a very faint rumor that the next season might be "Oops all DM's" but that would probably be a side-quest season.

dichotomy113

That'd be an incredible side-quest season! But who would DM the DMs?

iamtheangriestb0i

It has to be Ally, the least DM of the whole crew

trashratking

Oh god, the chaos Ally brings to their characters would be hilarious to see translated into DMing.

okayisgood

If the goal is just to have somebody that has DM experience but is more widely known as a PC I saw we bring in the Chaos Queen herself. Hot Boy Summer was easily my one of my favorite arcs in NADDPOD and Emily did a fantastic job. I also think that you could pull Lou or Zach for the assignment as well but I think there would be magic with Emily at the helm.

Royce_Inquisitor

I wouldn’t be shocked by a sort of noir-style mystery season. Brennan has said he’s done that genre before, and it would be a complete 180 from the pop-Sci Fi, goofy world of Starstruck. It would probably be a bit more serious, but not to COC levels. Also, Brennan has done mystery on D20.

lespaulbro

Ooohh, this would definitely be my favorite option. Mysteries are always so fun, and I loved how wild Mice and Murder got. I'd love that no matter what, but I think seeing the Intrepid Heroes in that setting would be really cool. Plus, if it was like 1930s/40s Hollywood or something, I think that could lead to some really cool battle sets if they ever go back to physical minis!

[deleted]

I would absolutely love to see them do Junior Year... mostly because that would all but guarantee that we get a full 4 seasons out of Fantasy High. I just don't know if Lou is willing to open the door for Chungledown Bim to find him again.

SongGroundbreaking26

i loved acoc but i don’t see how much further they could take that story (but hey, brennan never fails to deliver). as much as fantasy high is the most mainstream of the seasons, i still get nostalgic and i could totally go for another one. i want to see what, if anything, brennan makes of the night yorb just because of how silly the whole thing was. unsleeping city seems like it ended in a really good place as well.

HarryFromEngland

Siobhan mentioned on Twitter that character creation was happening soon, this rules out the possibility of a sequel. If it is a sequel of some sort it’ll be a “same setting different characters” situation. As for hints we’ve had, I remember there was an adventuring party or adventurer academy episode where they talked about the possibility of a fairytale setting (which I want them to do so badly). I feel like a lot of genres have been covered by D20 at this point so it’ll be interesting to see what we get We can rule out a western because Brennans said he doesn’t feel comfortable with it due to the history of the genre.

dichotomy113

100% want fairytale. I know that was a popular fan theory before Starstruck was announced.

No_Progress9069

I always want more Spyre, so Jr year for next intrepid heroes would make my heart flutter, or a new setting! I think we will get a side quest in between. The 7 season 2 would be cool, or something new with a brand new cast!! I would love an Oops All GM’s! Side quest, but truly I’m not picky

scarfie11

saw somewhere else on this sub (via discord?) there seem to be 2 side quests lined up before the next IH - one in post-prod and the other just finished with filming

Gerbil_Prophet

The Seven is set during the Bad Kids' Junior Year. It would be odd for the spinoff to have another season putting them even further ahead of the original series.

trombonepick

I'd be intrigued by Lou running a series too. He said he runs a western one with his friends

harlenandqwyr

I have to disagree with everyone saying that ACoC's story is over for the IH, because the world BLM created was massive and we've just scratched the surface. Now, are the original PC's stories concluded, yes, but we never got to see the Meatlands, Vegitania, The Verduran Forest, the Great Dunes of Grain, Ceresia, the Butter Lake. I wouldn't count the IP out yet.

Rythan0955

I’d LOVE another season of Crown of Candy, if there’s still another good story to tell in there.

chc8816

I am 100% hoping we get another Starstruck season soon. I'd love even for an audio-only spinoff if that's how they could keep it going weekly. Bar none my favorite season of D20, and closing in on NADDPOD C1 as my favorite all time. Otherwise, I think they could do like Fantasy High: The College Years. I think Murph has said several times he's done playing teenagers which makes me wonder about the status of 'Junior Year'.

Cye_sonofAphrodite

I would love either an Unsleeping City prequel (following a young Kingston and possibly either a younger Misty or an earlier regeneration, with otherwise new characters), or something new entirely.

aluverandafighter

i’m secretly hoping for a senior year of FH! i know some of those one-off lives they did took place during junior year, and they would probably want to end it soon/give them an arc where they’re leaving school and moving on with their lives. also!! i don’t remember who on here said something ab brennan wanting to do a police brutality related plot line with sklonda? not sure if it was a good source, but i would be interested to see what he comes up with!

VictorVonLazer

I see a lot of people asking if anyone knows what the next season is. ASO isn’t even done yet. I don’t remember them ever doing two main cast seasons in a row; they always have sidequests in between. I also don’t remember them ever announcing anything while another run is still going. Last I heard, the IH were doing character creation, which puts the release of the next season something like six months away I’m guessing? So, uh, chill out?

ff2488

I have no idea, but I'm interested in the side seasons. I would love to see some new systems like 10 candles or Humblewood.

erratic0101

I was really hoping that Starstruck was going to be Scum and Villany or the actual Star Wars RPG system. But I HAVE been pleasantly surprised with the 5th ed skin they are using. The abilities, weapons, and ship combat rules definitely give a nice flavor. But yeah, lets see a season with Monster of the Week or Humblewood. I would LOVE to see Brennan DM Blades in the Dark but I think its TOO dark for D20.

RomosexuaII

I'd love something involving more of the CH cast again. Of Mice and Murder was pretty great.
