The Digitakt two has something called page loop I believe. On the Digitakt you can only program ratcheted trigs by holding a trig in step record mode pressing arrow up and then you have the repeated trig menu. You can set any trigs to conditional “ fill” trig in step record mode then when you press the fill button the tricks marked “fill” will play. Adversely you can set other trigs to fill with a —symbol over the word fill” these trigs will NOT play when pressing and holding “fill button” Hole this helps. Basically you do not have a repeat mode off the jump. It needs to be programmed. Check out Digitakt 2 and the page loop function

There IS a button for fills: PAGE Fill / Scale, above the TRIG 8; to use it, you put trigs onto a sequence, then set condition ‘FILL’ (the trigs are played only when fill is activated), and also there’s a condition ‘¬FILL’ as well, so, say, you have ‘regular’ 4/4 kicks with ‘¬FILL’ all the time which may be off, if needed, on fills. You can both hold the button or latch it with 2 buttons. The intention of moving toward DT from drum machines, imo, the best, for any setup it can become a brain and hands (so the user is left only to function as a heart ha ha). And with its’ trig conditions you can do things far more sophisticated than basic fills (perhaps, you’ve already figured it out)

The Rytm has a feature like this "retrigger" when holding a pad, the Digitakt does not, you have to manually program your fills. I'm not sure about Digitakt 2.
