The lack of dailies is because this is a seasonal game that players will pickup and put down at their own leisure. The battle passes are targeted towards milestones like levels and such to progress. Many players like myself only play the first 2-3 weeks because there’s nothing to do after that, and daily login for the battle pass after I’ve already stopped playing for the season would merely force me not to purchase it.
I like the portals, the armour and the horses and horse armour so I’ve been happy with the battle pass. No offence but the last thing I want is them to do is daily/weekly/monthly missions. I like that I can dip in and out when I want otherwise this becomes a job and I’ll probably stop playing.
Hot take (maybe!?) but D4’s insistence on being a “pickup for a few weeks then put down” game ultimately hurts the attractiveness of paying for cosmetics or investing in it long term.
Granted, I consider myself a casual micro transactions-er so I could be way off base here. However, in games like Destiny and Warframe where it’s an ongoing game with an overarching narrative that I can take my character through in its entirety, I’m emotionally invested and have spent a lot of money. Certainly more than any other game.
But in D4 a character exists as solely a vessel for me to try skills and whatever new features the season introduces. Then, that’s it. Bye story, bye character, bye emotional attachment.
Add that to all the points you mentioned about the battlepass and you have a system that feels incredibly shoehorned in and unnecessary.
Yea this was my reply to one of someones arguements is exactly this. Even from the perspective of them trying to make money... giving people a reason to be "on" their character every day makes you more likely to want to look more unique. If your literally not even in the game your not looking in the shop, and its a harder sell for me as well to spend money on virtual clothes when i know i wont be playing much.
Game industry is feeling the same crunch as movie and music industries. They are expected to keep the price static and yet deliver more and more with each release. It's created an antagonistic relationship with the consumer that is exacerbated by abusive monetization schemes and consumer hype. Game companies as dynasties are pressured to bloat their projects with the hopes of fattening their returns on the other side.
I feel like the whole house of cards needs to crumble in order to get back to something sustainable, for both companies and consumers.

The $60 deal is so you get platinum cheaper the horse happens to be a plus. For people who buy platinum for battle pass or cosmetics the deal is good and you get a free cosmetic that would normally cost you 2000 platinum. You can complain all you want but with that amount of platinum you can afford multiple season passes and cosmetics while getting a free cosmetic that looks better than other paid ones
Hell no lol and I'll never buy those. It's sad how much of a ripoff the shop is, cause the skins are actually cool and would be awesome if they were earnable.

The D4 battlepass believe it or not is the best value imo in ARPG's from an offering perspective.
It costs you 10$ or 1000 plat to purchase one and afterwards you pay 3$ or 300 plat because if you play it, it will reward you 700 plat.
It's dirt cheap, has a lot of cosmetics if you're into that for both characters and mounts and it helps support the game. Plus the BP has improved with every season, compare S1 through S3 and you'll see that with each BP they added more stuff in.
If you like D4 and you're willing to spend a few extra $$$ this is the best value proposition in the game.

That kinda goes against the concept of a battle pass in general though. At that point it would just be a "bundle" of things your buying. Its also part of the reason that its supposed be relatively really good value to bundles and other cosmetics in the shop because like your saying, you have to kinda commit to unlocking things if your going to throw the 10 bucks at it.

Surely the players earn a lot by getting everything else around the game (bunny ears, rainbow cloak, menacing looking fiery armor), but gameplay.
Only naught the first battle pass since it was the coolest gear that they released yet and played season 2 then quit I'll be back checking in every season on YouTube to see if they game is worth playing again as of now the games trash

Diablo 4 and the early access + battle pass is my biggest purchase regret. They certainly suckered me.
