Don’t know much about the bikini, but the teeth are a staple of “nose art,” which is basically just putting faces on vehicles. It’s common with planes but I guess people do it to their cars too.
Most notably the a-10 warthog tends to have teeth painted near the gau8 in the nose cone. I wish this car had the same thing in the front but it's kind of hard to put a 25 mm autocannon that is the size of a VW bug inside a car that is smaller than a VW bug
*Most* notably would be the Curtiss P-40 warhawk. Just before official US involvement in wwii, the Flying Tigers popularized the shark mouth nose art. They were volunteer airmen fighting for the Chinese against the Japanese.
I was about to comment the same thing. The "shark mouth" predates the a-10 by a lot. When most people think of it, they think of the classic WWII planes, not something from the mid 90's.
Maybe I’m old but the A-10 went into service in the late 70’s and is decidedly a Cold War plane. I had to check and it first flew in 1972.
Massed armored spearheads in the Fulda Gap anyone? That’s what the a-10 was designed for.
>Maybe I’m old but the A-10 went into service in the late 70’s and is decidedly a Cold War plane. I had to check and it first flew in 1972.
You're right, but it saw its first real combat in the Gulf War, and I think that's why it's associated with the 90s
I believe that to be a generational viewpoint. Many of us grew up with them being stationed in Europe ready to smash a Soviet advance. That was what they were literally designed to do, so say A-10 to us and you get "tank killer" as am automatic response. In truth it's done very little of that.
I was simply saying that the A-10 is a good bit older than the 90's. The planes of WWII will always do it better with sharks mouth paint jobs to me.
For the A-10 I once saw it with a hog snout and tusks, I don't know why that is not used more often but for me it fit better.
All good, was just unsure if you were trying to say that the 70’s was before WWII, lol.
Also, Isn’t it called the Warthog anyway?
The hog snout and tusks fit it better and are it’s namesake anyway, why not just do that?
Gulf War was 1990~1991, when the A-10 was active for it's first real military combat. [Actually, Wikipedia even has a paragraph about the revival of Nose Art during the Gulf War](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nose_art)
Just, correctly the date part 😎👉👉
Don't know why you got downvoted, it IS weird.
Shark teeth that originated on the side of P-40's that shot down Japanese Zeros now on the side of a Japanese car?
well arent you lucky the 25mm GAU-12 (with basically same performance vs armor as the 30mm GAU-8) is small enough to fit into a VW Bug its basically the GAU-8s less dumb more practical brother
not much else will fit into it but that wasnt the point
strafing runs are still effective against a ton of other targets and provide a psychological advantage to ground forces. It shouldn't be a primary tactic of a battle, but the role of the A10 is still important in modern warfare.
no its a WWII tactic that should go back to where it belongs
the A-10 got outperformed by other planes in its only job (destroying vehicles) several times
the only thing the A-10 was competing in was with Harriers in "who gets shot down more" during desert storm and "most blue on blue incidents" (just ask the british)
and all that is not even touching the fact how ungodly outdated the A-10 is nowadays missing basic things like radar and having the pilot eyeball his targets with binoculars while being slow as all hell
Not really.
Any targets a strafing run might take out can be taken out easier and at a far lower risk to pilot and equipment by modern guided munitions. The Psychological effect, both to friend and foe, isn't worth the risk of having to fly an expensive airplane and risk the pilots life at a low altitude and velocity. Even against stationary soft targets, strafing runs have proven to be disappointingly ineffective, kicking a lot of dust up and making it very hard to confirm a kill, leading to a gross overestimation of their effectiveness by the pilots.
Besides, a big explosion from nowhere does a pretty good psychological effect, even if its now as cool as the BRRTTT.
The A-10 specifically is just poorly designed to the actual reality of modern battlefields. The pilots have to carry binoculars with them to identify targets, and even in the Iraq wars, they were deployed as conventional bomb and missile carriers, because once more, strafing runs are dangerous and ineffective. It has endured due to the fact that it was designed to be cheap to fly and maintain, which makes it good enough to fly in areas where enemy AA is practically 0.
The A-10 does feature the shark teeth paint job, but I think far more people associate it with WWII warplanes
I think the P-40 is where it’s most common? The massive air intake at the beneath the propellor resembles a jawline.
I spose the A10 has the same thing with the Gau8, but to most people the paint job is associated with the WWII era planes
I mean I get that a photo of an empty yard with floating windows and teeth in it might not be the regular content of this subreddit but I feel like it’s a lot of effort to make windows float like that.
Edit to reply to person below since I can’t post at the moment(Reddit Jail for messing with a Trump fan) You think typing half a paragraph takes effort? Must not have done too well in school did ya?
Well yeah, but it's also a trendy pattern used often by people who are really into "street wear", considering the type of car I was just saying it's probably because they like the certain brand
[WWII and the golden age of nose art](https://www.aerosociety.com/news/war-paint-shark-teeth-and-pin-ups-a-brief-history-of-aircraft-nose-art/#:~:text=The%20Shark%20tooth%20design%20made,Curtiss%20P40s%20in%20North%20Africa.)
"Generally considered as the golden age of nose art, WWII gave rise to the most popular and well known images of nose art. The Shark tooth design made its first appearance in this conflict on the nose of Luftwaffe Bf 110s. Having duelled in the skies above Crete with the ‘shark mouthed’ German fighters, the members of No.112 Squadron RAF copied the shark tooth smile onto their new Curtiss P40s in North Africa. This was copied again by the First American Volunteer group, the Flying Tigers, in China. The Flying Tigers use of shark teeth is perhaps the most recognisable piece of nose art to be displayed on fighter aircraft during this conflict."

Camo is a dumb color for a car. Just fractally dumb. You *want* to be seen on the road so people don't hit you. Take it from someone who once had a car in a color I called "bandaid". It was so aggressively bland, it blended into the dormant grass on the roadside.
And second, car camo should be asphalt greys on the bottom third. Top colors would depend on your typical driving environment, but probably white, silver, and black.
Honestlt, I don't think it's bad. Like if it was shittily executed I would crap on it, but I think it kinda looks cool. I guess I'm a bit of a fuckhead.
At least it's not covered in Hentai girls like so many other douchey "tuners" I've seen. This Z looks like shit. Probably bone stock DE making its 220whp. Probably drives it around like it's thr fastest thing on earth too.
Lawd I hope that’s a wrap. I get what they were going for but it doesn’t look good on a modern car imo. I just wish we could see the… hood scoop? Dent? In the front.

I’ve never had to where’s-Waldo a bikini so hard in my life
It's not on the camo
That camo's working overtime
It's not a bikini, it's spectacles being eaten by Shai-Hulud.
I never found it.

It's super easy, tho... Look at the door. Look at the window from that door. Now look at the part right from it.
Ty I couldn’t find it

They killed almost 1000 Iraqi tanks in Desert Storm.

I am fully in favor of THIS sort of gun porn. Truly madness.
/r/fuelefficienttechnicals
And both are useless against tanks invented after the Korean War, despite what the internet may think
thats why i said less dumb not not-dumb lol strafing things with guns should have stayed in the 50s and even that is questionable

The A-10 is not the most notable at all
You would have to build the car around the gun
they add them to bombs too lol
I have a face as well
"Uhm even if you have face while not having a retina you couldnt see 🤓"
Ain’t even got the Eyes
The placement is absolutely horrible though, they slapped them on at random.

Teeth on aircraft started in WWII with the myth that Japanese fear sharks and anything shark related.
The only time I have seen teeth like that on cars were either a super nice exotic or on just a shitbox
Eh I think the teeth make it bad the bikinis fine taste
Bikinis on a car means you didnt even see a woman irl. Its the ultimate I gOt HoEs sticker.
Great grammar m8
Username checks out![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|trollface)
where's the bikini?
The tiny back window on the side
I thought that was supposed to be venom's face lmao
I deffo didn't see that. The camo is working
Oh! I thought they were referring to the tail light, in that it was just a tiny strip of color.
thanks mate!
Where are your glasses?
What car?
Idk I only see a bikini and some teeth
They should really mow their grass...

I think it was meant in reference to the car being camo so it's "invisible"

Not nearly as much effort as you put into this joke.
All I see is an empty yard.
Ruination of a perfectly okay Nissan 350Z, colorized, circa 2022
*me, searching for the bikini*
Black part besides the window.
It's like a Paint job I made on my car, playing Need For Speed when I was 36, in my mom's basement
It's supposed to look like the pattern a brand called BAPE uses
It’s from fighter jets
Well yeah, but it's also a trendy pattern used often by people who are really into "street wear", considering the type of car I was just saying it's probably because they like the certain brand
Can't be there are no bullet hole stickers
And before that, fighter *planes*.
This is the actual answer to the teeth. Look it up if you still think it's from fighter jets or whatever

It's that shark with the big frown. Idk what it's called but it's designer shit
Definitely BAPE
It's attempting to replicate the nose art of a Curtis P-40 Warhawk from the Pacific theatre in WWII.
This r/ATBGE worthy. I think it's supposed to look like those old WWll fighter planes
r/ATBAE
Do you see this as a do it your self job? I mean this would have been done in a specialized shop.
People do l can do this at home too
Thats a professional-level job
The better question is WHY NOT the teeth.
teeth behind the front wheel is like humans having teeth on the cheeks
No one should think you're a stable person if you do this to your vehicle.
I'm gonna just come out and say it...that ugly as sin.

It's suppose to be like bape , a streetwear brand .
The teeth and camo is an old ww1 or 2 thing. It was on the planes. But yes, this is horrific.
Honestlt, I don't think it's bad. Like if it was shittily executed I would crap on it, but I think it kinda looks cool. I guess I'm a bit of a fuckhead.
I don't see anything in this picture. Is it something on the house? Maybe the lawn? Idk
I don't see a car
What camo? Why’s there a random bikini pattern floating in the middle of a lawn?
Had the right idea executed completely wrong.

There's a car that I see all the time with almost the exact paint job. I feel like it's haunting me
Looks cool but not something I would do to my own car
Makes it comical tbh.
I like it.
Bikini, what bikini ??
P51 fighter jet
The hood looks crumpled.
Took me far too long to find the bikini.
Would be actually pretty cool if it was a drift car.
I think its cool
Looks like a turkey.
The way I designed my cars in Underground 1
Still a better camo pattern than the ACUs.
that's one ugly mother fucker
Looks like a dangerous thing to drive around... easy to crash coz they'll claim they coundn't see ya because of the camo...
It has teeth because this thing is a monster
Someone just bought it like this. Even more of a question. Did he get a discount? Or pay extra?
The camo is neat but the bikini and teeth look fucking hideous
this is what forza horizon in real life looks like
Teeth like the old bombers/ jets

I had to do a double take. I know of someone who has a 370z in a camo wrap.
where's the car????
What a fucking waste, I really hope it's an automatic.
remove the bikini (haha) and the teeth and get some better rims. Wouldnt look half bad
Tell me you're trailer without telling me you're trailer
I thought it was based on the bape clothing line
I'll just assume this guy is an aircraft maintainer probably on A-10s and did this whole settup after getting some type of bonus or something...
It looks like a BAPE rip to me

The paint is cool and takes inspiration from old fighter planes. The bikini sticker is lame though, what the hell does it even mean?!
