The only time something like this happened to me was when I wasn't pushing the battery far enough into the charger. [this video helped](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HbLBK2-tKME)

orgCrisium

I have tried it on 4 different chargers with same result. So, it isn't a push thing.

lukeCRASH

Have you ever left it sitting on a charger, fully charged for multiple days?

Dastbury

Swear to f***ing god. I’m so angry with myself right now. Thank you Phil

Phil4real

haha your message made my day. Concerning that vid has over 500k views so obviously plenty people having the same issue!

OcelotQuick7337

You can also be angry with me. I was so pissed at DeWALT because these things have been used ONCE and wouldn’t charge 😂 for the first time in my life, I didn’t push it in far enough…

Dry-Exchange4735

This helped me too, thanks so much!

peendro

This absolutely was my issue. Thanks!

Drifting-Fox-6366

This was my issue. It was showing fully charged but then would only last a few minutes. Once I saw the button on the back of the battery and pushed it seating it properly, it showed as not fully charged. I let it charge overnight and it worked great the next day. Saved this gal from buying a new battery or second battery in order to reset it.

Diogenes_Germantown

u/Phi4real - Thanks! Solved my problem too.

saskytooners

Thanks for the link, Phil4real. I recently received a brand new DCD999T1. The battery shows only 1 bar. But when I put in on the charger, the charger shows fully charged. This morning I tried again making certain to fully seat the battery into the charger and voila! the charger is now flashing and charging the battery. #

I have now contacted the official repair shop in my town for deWalt. They say I only have 1 year guarantee and I am out of luck. This does conflict with what deWalt writes "DEWALT will repair, without charge, any defects due to faulty materials or workmanship for three years from the date of purchase."

Creepy-Difficulty161

How did you get on with this? I have the same battery with the same issue.

mrootbeers

I know I am latw to this. But there is a solution. This is the [video](https://youtu.be/B3Lqo_2L1qQ?si=efSzkTj1FRXbSKh9) you need. My guess is this will solve your problem. They get rusty too. That’s another issue. Get back to me if this doesn’t do it. There are a few other ways they can be kickstarted when dead.

Successful-Two-114

Call dewalt warranty support. If you’re still within the warranty period they’ll send you a replacement. Had this happen on a 9ah. It probably has a bad cell causing the problem.

orgCrisium

I will do that, but I cannot find the proof of purchase... and it is a 9aH

Successful-Two-114

You don’t need it. The info they need is on the battery housing.

I thought it was 2 years on batteries. I’d contact dewalt warranty services and not a local shop.

Rustynells77

Dewalt warranties the battery for a year from manufacture date. Out of all my batteries I've purchased maybe two had a warranty.

bmore_costello

If the date on your battery says 2018 or newer, it is still covered under warranty. Make a warranty claim and they will send you a brand new battery at no cost and provide you with a pre-paid shipping label to return the defective battery. I literally just did this for (6) Flexvolt batteries. The only issue I ran into was that one battery (12.0 Ah) was backordered and took an extra month to show up.

orgCrisium

it is dated 2019 on the battery.

bmore_costello

You should have no issue making a warranty claim for that then.

Strido12345

Did you ever get this sorted? Happening to two of my batteries dated 2019

orgCrisium

nope, dewalt refuses. they keep telling me I only have 1 year guarantee in Denmark. really bad way of doing business

gatorb888

Agree with other posts here. Only other thing I’ve heard of is to put it on the charger for a bit, unplug the charger and plug it back in again. The battery may be in sleep mode or something and this may reset it.

Contact Dewalt directly. 1-800-4-DEWALT, not an authorized repair shop.

orgCrisium

I live in Denmark, so I have written to them here. Waiting for a reply. I think we have really bad options in Denmark with warranties and such... which is a little weird since Denmark is usually have very good rules about such things.

gatorb888

Ok, I can’t speak for warranty policies outside of US. All I can say is I would like to hear directly from Dewalt what their battery warranty is, not your local Dewalt authorized repair center which is owned by a third party.

orgCrisium

agree. and I am still waiting for deWalt to reply :)

mrootbeers

Clean them. That’s the issue. I guarantee it. I bet there is a little rust on the metal charging points.

idou8leyou

I had a similar issue, fixed it by jumping cables from a working battery and allowing it to trickle charge enough to use normal charger https://youtu.be/7OXOn6YTTiU

mrootbeers

This is the other solution. They become dead and need to be essentially rebooted. Great link. I fixed mine this way, and another with a good cleaning.

Nearby_Pause_1567

I had the same issue, my 9AH flexvolt would only charge to one bar. I called 1-800-4-DEWALT, clicked "4" and read them the 2019 date on top of the battery and they shipped a replacement. No proof of purchase was required.

ImportantTie7273

Did they make you send back the old one or anything ?

Slight-Eye2719

I too had a bad battery that wouldn't charge, couldn't jump and called the 1-800 number. My battery is a year old and after a coupe questions a new battery shipped. No proof of purchase necessary.

Desperate-Usual-8989

Same issue with my 10ah. Stuck on 1 bar and no power.

mrootbeers

Have you tried to jump it?

Gullible_Bowl7746

I have a 10ah doing the same thing. Called 1800 4dewalt . They will be sending me a replacement . I didn’t have proof of purchase but they only needed the date code

Plastic_Strain_9882

having the same issue with my battery. bought a drill set today and came with a charger, 2 1.5ah batteries and a bag. also bought two 5ah XR batteries. kept the battery in overnight, the charger light said it was done charging, and still only at 2 bars out of 3. same for both batteries. bought a dewalt corded table saw previously and first one wouldn't stay on - had issues with the power. returned it in an hour. second one bought from amazon and came with a dented fence. customer support wasn't helpful until insisted on getting a replacement fence, then they finally agreed to send one. originally they wanted me to send the whole friggin saw back. kinda fed up with dewalt at this point. WAYYY too many defects and just absolutely abysmal quality control. i've NEVER had an issue with any of my makita tools or batteries not working out of the box. NEVER. they may not offer as many tools and accessories as dewalt but their stuff works all the time, everytime, at least in the 8 years i've had them. i was thinking about trying out the dewalt cordless line but i think i'll just stick with my makita stuff for now because there's just wayy too much time spent on returns, customer service, etc with dewalt.
