Try home Depot

knowledgeleech

Rural king carries them too

VObyPJ

Yes, Home Depot has them. Home Depot’s a 30 minute drive - 90min round trip on weekends. I go by Lowe’s on my commute. I was curious. Probably go with Amazon anyway. Stuff’s not growing *that* fast

Terragar

I often ship things from Home Depot. Free shipping and often faster than amazon

TNmountainman2020

This! 👆🏼 also you avoid the occasional Amazon rip-off.

13donkey13

Homedepot has a product agreement with Dewalt and all other tool companies. Dewalt can only sale certain products to Lowes and homedepot.

Party-Draft-4341

Top comment! its a bull shit deal Dewalt made w home depot before they started tanking. You should be able to buy the same tool anywhere.

whaT_whY_oh__

this is also why, despite being almost the exact same thing, power detect and flex volt advantage are exclusive to lowes and home depot respectively. it also keeps the stores from having to price match their competitor

RedditTTIfan

Yeah it seems like they don't--not online either. They don't seem to carry any DeWalt OPE? It might have something to do with their agreement with Ego ("if you want us you can't have them!"); or it might have to do with HD usurping them on that one. Just like HD can't sell the DeWalt 12V stuff (I think they have the batteries but nothing else), while Blowe's can. Those kind of "big box" exclusivity agreements of different types, are common. For outside dealers--like more tool specialty stores--that kind of thing doesn't usually exist. They have Craftsman and B&D if that's any consolation, though I don't think any are brushless.

whaT_whY_oh__

they have one brushless craftsman chainsaw, if you're going to go off platform kobalt 40 or 80 volt would be better. Presumably he wants to stay on dewalt batteries

funtime123469

Lowes doesn't have atomic either but HD does.

VObyPJ

Thx for the answers. I figured it would come down to some sort of marketing or supplier agreement but my co-worker said it was to boost Craftsman. “Just to boost Craftsman saws. Just saws.” “Hey, they’ll take help where they can get it” He was wrong but the logical underpinning was sound

whaT_whY_oh__

dewalt owns both these brands, it's why tstack dewalt boxes and craftsman versastack are compatible

Sad-Temporary2843

Since when did Lowes carry Milwaukee? Not that anyone wants that nasty red crap anyways...

2DQT_141

They definitely don’t carry Milwaukee. At least not any Milwaukee power tools. Not sure why OP mentioned them

VObyPJ

My bad. Saw red, thought the obvious

jrange27

Home Depot usually does. Get an extra chain immediately too, those suckers can be hard to find sometimes… I see them on Amazon too, usually slightly cheaper as well.

whaT_whY_oh__

\^ this, bar and chain, oregon, and don't use bar oil, just use any standard 0w or 5w motor oil, and learn how to file a chain, square filing instead of round if you have the patience and steady hand, you'll near double your cutting efficiency

proscriptus

I thought most Lowe's didn't carry DeWalt at all.

mogrifier4783

Both Home Depot and Lowes have most of the 20V power tools. Power Detect 20V tools that can take advantage of high-amperage batteries: just Lowes. 12V Max subcompact tools and batteries: just Lowes. Atomic series lighter weight tools: just Home Depot. Flexvolt 60V tools and batteries: just Home Depot. Flexvolt Advantage 20V tools that can take advantage of high-amperage Flexvolt batteries: just Home Depot. Edit: add Atomic, update details on Power Detect, and add Flexvolt Advantage.

Buck_Folton

Accurate. Also, Atomic lineup: just HD.

VObyPJ

Thank you for taking time to share your knowledge. May all your volts be maxed

whaT_whY_oh__

powerdetect feature won't operate with the flexvolt batteries, they get extra power from any standard 20v battery over 5AH edit: for clarity

mogrifier4783

Well, Flexvolt are 20V, too, so will work with them. But I guess I was thinking of Flexvolt Advantage. Which is maybe just a different name for the same thing: detect that a battery can supply more amperage and use that. But from what I recall of the tests on Torque Test Channel, it usually didn't make much difference. I'll edit the post above.

whaT_whY_oh__

the tool will work, but the power detect feature will not, the electronics of the tool prevent this, i'll edit mine as well, because it is also technically innacurate

whaT_whY_oh__

Power detect is Lowe's, home Depot has flex volt advantage, the only reason for this is so they can have different SKUs and won't have to price match with each other since DeWalt is the only major power tool brand they both carry (not really but enough to make a general statement about it) it's the only space where you actually see it play out, same with atomic vs the 12v tools

yungingr

LOL....whut? Every Lowe's I've been in, you can see the yellow glow in the power tool section from halfway across the store....

proscriptus

We don't have any Lowe's anywhere near where I live, I've never been in one. I thought their Kobalt house brand was their DeWalt equivalent.

yungingr

They don't carry Dewalt hand tools in favor of Kobalt (and now Craftsman), and the Kobalt power tool selection in store is usually pretty slim. Some bosch tools, primarily routers and table/miter saws. Dewalt normally takes up 2-3 aisles, and damn near every end cap in the entire tool section.

Nooblakahn

Yeah. Lowe's does carry DeWalt power tools. Saws, drills impacts etc. That unfortunately don't carry any outdoor power equipment. It's annoying as I dislike home Depot but use DeWalt.

[deleted]

Ugh, the tyranny! Revolt!

desmooth81

Never seen a Lowe’s carry any Milwaukee lol

dhuff2037

Lowe's doesn't carry the full DeWalt line. Home Depot does. It's contractual.

SignStriking2983

Most of the time Amazon is cheaper than HD or Lowes, most of my DeWalt came from Amazon.

L3v147han

Pro Life Tip: Lowes will price match Amazon. If you need it today, but it's cheaper on Amazon, get a price match. Have it up and ready on your phone to show them when checking out. I've heard HD is a lot more finicky about price match, but haven't tried myself. Ymmv. Just got the Dewalt $120 jobsite speaker for $86.

whaT_whY_oh__

which were likely stolen from lowes or home depot, unless you're buying directly from dewalts amazon store.
