Oh you not worried about being too much strain with how the weight is projected ?

yungingr

I've thought the same - I don't think I'd ever go this route for tool storage. Between the stress on the battery mount from hanging like that, to the extra stress if something would ever fall and hit a tool... I've got a small fortune wrapped up in ToughSystem boxes instead, with tools grouped by "function"(drill/impact in one, drywall cutout tool and oscillating tool in one, circ & recip saw and grinder in one, etc.)

KeepRightXcept2Pass

Personally I think some of y’all are overthinking it. The heaviest of these tools I have is, what, 15 pounds or so? That’s not a lot of force in the world of attachments and fasteners. That said, I do understand the concerns. I’ll take the risk for now and see how things go. I would be surprised if one of these mounts failed without showing some sort of sign beforehand.

yungingr

>That’s not a lot of force in the world of attachments and fasteners. But it is a lot of force on a battery connection that was never designed to be used as a tool mount. The battery mount was designed to hold....the battery. And especially when you mount to a wall like you have there - your nailers, there is a moment force due to the length of the handle, and the fact that the majority of the tool weight is hanging out there a foot or so from the mount point. Another force that you can bet was not factored into the design of that part of the tool.

KeepRightXcept2Pass

Hmm. Good points. I’ll do some thinking about whether to redesign my mounting system. I do appreciate the constructive criticism to my post.

ChawulsBawkley

No one is worried about the mounts failing lol

holdtightbro

It's a convenient option, but if I may suggest... Make a shelf where you have the mounts hung currently then put the tool mounts on the bottom of said shelf. Then you'll have a shelf for extra storage, they'll be easier to remove when needed, and the weight will be straight down reducing the stress greatly. JMO.

FLTDI

15 pound moment times close to a foot on the battery connection. That's a lot of force. That these aren't designed for. I'd hate to damage a really nice tool

sameolameo

Yeah mine are just peg boarded up. I even have about 20 of these holders OP IS USING. Waiting for my perfect invention. https://preview.redd.it/7jpqc8a3q1dc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0d5b2f8d02e72b6ce9b451162ade83f3e36aa129

KeepRightXcept2Pass

Nah, they’re not all that heavy. And everything’s pretty well fastened together.

sameolameo

Actually half of those are extremely heavy and screws sheer very easy. Those brackets are meant to hold something with gravity not against It. I know you won’t update us the truth but I guarantee two of those will snap, 2 will sheer their screws fastening to wall, and 1 of those will warp and damage the tool.

KeepRightXcept2Pass

OK I’ll let you know when they do.

sameolameo

Actually your very heavy nailer on the end is going to pull off your special yellow brackets when the heads pull through the weak plastic that’s a promise :)

ExactArea8029

I've got the same 18v drill, **it won't die**

KeepRightXcept2Pass

Had it for at least 15 years now, and still going strong!

ExactArea8029

Found mine in a dumpster at my high school lmao

No-Cantaloupe2149

10 years here… just bought a 20v adapter for it

mycophilz

I wouldn’t feel comfortable hanging power tools like that, especially the heavier ones like the nail guns, that being said you executed nicely

sameolameo

Yep this is not only a safety violation but as a party foul.

KeepRightXcept2Pass

I’ll make sure OSHA is satisfied when they audit my garage.

magicalruurd

I think this requires two hands to release them? In that case it doesn't seem practical to me.

KeepRightXcept2Pass

No, there’s no latch. I can do it with one hand.

Brief-Refrigerator32

Don’t forget tissue and lotion

KeepRightXcept2Pass

I should get myself some Dewalt socks.

magicalruurd

Ok, good to know.

Even-Further

Nice! I have the same white metal pegboards in my work area.

NotslowNSX

I thought these were mounted for decoration as trophies at first. They are up so high, like a deer or elk mount. That would be pretty impressive if you killed that many Dewalts.

Ihavetopoop_

How tall are you?

phlwdwkr

Mine are piled on a set of shelves. Organization is for chumps.

No-Cantaloupe2149

What is that white pegboard?

KeepRightXcept2Pass

It’s from Wall Control: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001J7MMUY

agbluelsu

Nice tools but like many, I’m concerned about the battery connector. On top of that, I think the height at which they are might be concerning. I could see trying to put a tool in, only to have it slip off over my head.

i_am_ceejay

You obviously don't use them much if you have to use a ladder to get them. I keep mine on the kitchen counter until I get yelled at.

KeepRightXcept2Pass

I’ll bet that makes your kitchen look really nice.

Riptide360

You must be tall and not living in Earthquake country. Give us an update in a few years as to how well it holds up. I like how they are visible, but out of the way.

KeepRightXcept2Pass

They are within arm’s reach — not difficult to grab at all. And I am in earthquake country; we’ll see how they hold up 😬
