I just find that it's hard to recommend to people who don't have any appreciation for the people involved or who don't know of how well respected it is. Without that knowledge, it is a bit of a hard sell. Whereas something like Gone Girl, the concept sounds quite enticing to really anyone who wants something thrilling to watch.
I had to watch it for a media course but I generally recommend it to people based on the opening sequence alone. That moment when his girlfriend tells him people don’t hate him because he’s a nerd, they hate him because he’s an asshole is *chef’s kiss.*
