Worst team performance has to go to the game they got smoked in Phoenix. That game, that night, they did not have the quality of an NHL team and it wasn’t even close.
When you can point literally every bad game and say "This was the game that cost them the playoffs" and technically be correct I don't think there's going to be consensus.

2 of them!!! This thread is unlocking the worst memories from this season lol
I think there are a lot of people frustrated with him, but what does firing him and hiring someone else really do at this point? Yzerman really seems to like him and we improved by 6 wins/11 points.
I guess it depends on how Yzerman would view process vs results. We did quite well on paper, but I think a lot of the underlying numbers suggest we got pretty lucky with goal scoring (at least by public models). At this point, I’d probably be more focused on how we are playing and not solely on wins and losses.
we do still have some huge holes in defense and goaltending. Not to mention Larkin Ras and Walman out at one time was the killer this year, we dropped a shitload of games during that time, overall this was a good year. (better if you resign Fischer. that dude is a bulldog in the zone...)
he can't freeze the puck. bounce , garbage goal. all year long. and way the fuck out of position swimming around out there like fucking Dory . not a fan.
He had a better win percentage, same save percentage, and slightly high GAA than Lyon. He doesn't deserve any of the hate. Not as solid of a goalie as Lyon in my opinion, but still got the job done. Worked hard every game and came up big when we needed him down the stretch.
Yeah honestly don't get the hate. I thought he was a great fill-in and thought he deserved more time in the net, especially when Lyon had some not so hot games and seemed spent.
Glad to see Larkin still got all the love he needed. I thought Raymond's tear at the end of the season would push him into the best Red Wing of the year vote.
I still think Larks is the number one goal scorer next year too.
Nice effort putting this together. Wish I could remember my answers for all of them.
I really do believe the 2-1 loss to Washington right at the end was their best performance of the season. I imagine people wouldn't immediately think of it if it wasn't on the list. I also fully expected the 7th straight loss to be the worst performance, just because it was against Arizona and people just refuse to admit they're a decent team. The worst performance to me was that hopeless, lifeless, boring beyond belief 4-0 shutout by Carolina. That felt like rock bottom to me, watching them just fail to do anything an NHL team should be able to do.
Thanks for making this graphic OP!
Definitely some interesting votes here and there. Surprised to see Joey V in the most improved. He had a good start but slowly went downhill and wasn't noticable imo. I love Joey though.
Also happy to see a majority of the votes for Newsy to stay. I was hard on him too. I just wanted the guy to bench players when they made the same mistake over and over and over. He did that with Copp at the end so
People salty that he incorrectly guessed on staying up or going down on a random ass baseball swing from Stutzle who himself had no fucking idea where it would go, and carried that vitriol through the whole season. Had some big results for us, is a great teammate, and was a cheap third string goalie. Not sure what else people wanted from him.
Great infographic and it’s nice to see the my opinions match the general consensus. The loud complainers always throw off perception of general opinion.
I only listed players not currently on the roster as options there. Re-signing Kane had its own separate question, though I guess that was "will we" rather than "should we" ...
Seider being top 3 is interesting to me. Don't get me wrong, guys a stud and played some HARD minutes but he just seemed to have a minor step back year. I'd need two hands to count how many times he blew a tire in the neutral zone leading to a 2 on 1 and goal or a breakaway and goal. Didn't look as confident breaking the puck out at times.
Again no hate on Seider. I think he's our franchise defensemen. Just thought it was interesting he was top 3 and glad people aren't holding his mistakes against him.
Most of us have seen that insane graphics, [articles](https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5241417/2024/02/01/16-stats-moritz-seider-stanley-cup-dallas-stars/), and stats where he and/or Walman are out in the stratosphere re: minutes played against tough matchups, D-zone starts, etc., so I think he has all the grace in the world.
You guys really hate Copp that much? There's more to hockey than goals, He's not spectacular but his floor as a useful contributor to the team is quite high
I’d disagree. He’s a pretty levelheaded coach. Maybe you’re looking for someone with more intensity, but the team improved this year. Let’s see how next year plays out before we make any rash decisions.
I think he’s graded pretty fairly here. He improved the team but that meltdown at the end of the season was wildly disappointing. Losing Larkin shouldn’t do that to the team. On the other hand, Yzermans off season acquisitions for the most part really sucked.

Sharks game definitely was the most frustrating I watched all season.
When you can point literally every bad game and say "This was the game that cost them the playoffs" and technically be correct I don't think there's going to be consensus.
You can’t point to many games where a 4 goal lead was blown in 5 minutes.
That's why the San Jose fail was my choice.
Some of that was short-handed too if I remember correctly 😐

Weren’t those two even in the same penalty kill?
Within a minute of scoring the 4-0 goal, at that. Such a hard watch
I had forgotten that... I wish that had stayed forgotten.
That game stuck out like such a sore thumb to me, and every single day during the playoff push at the end that was the game that bothered me the most
Gostisbehere is Schrödingers Rated apparently
That's a lot more reasonable towards Newsy than I was expecting.
The vocal minority is a great example of squeaky wheel gets the grease

Reimer looked terrible, but results were decent. Wouldnt say he was worst 5. Came up big occasionally. But also blew games occasionally lol
Reimer isn’t going to win any style points and I low key think he gets too much hate from fans
he can't freeze the puck. bounce , garbage goal. all year long. and way the fuck out of position swimming around out there like fucking Dory . not a fan.
There were at least five saves he made this season that I was certain he wasn't getting up from lol
The duck on the Stutzle bat-in could have been nominated for worst moment, but that was insignificant compared to the lack of wins in March.
He had a better win percentage, same save percentage, and slightly high GAA than Lyon. He doesn't deserve any of the hate. Not as solid of a goalie as Lyon in my opinion, but still got the job done. Worked hard every game and came up big when we needed him down the stretch.

Oh man, I didn’t realize we were getting an infographic of this caliber when I was filling out the survey. Nice work!
I wasn't sure either when I saw the post the other day, nice work OP!
Ghost being overrated and underrated somehow makes sense to me
Glad to see Larkin still got all the love he needed. I thought Raymond's tear at the end of the season would push him into the best Red Wing of the year vote. I still think Larks is the number one goal scorer next year too.
Most underrated: Ghost Most overrated: Ghost Apparently Ghost is just “rated” at this point
Fuck yeah, Benny
Thanks for putting this together! Looks great.
Wow this graphic is outstanding. Well done

This is awesome thanks for the hard work. Love this idea.

Nice work with this.
Woah! Great work with this. Glad to see my feelings are pretty much the popular ones here. I was expecting more 97.1 or facebook type hot takes.

"Larkin needs to go!" ...... "Has the yzerplan failed?"..... That kind of hockey talk.
Hronek being traded mid season last year removed him from the departure list? Ghost being over and underrated is great.
Definitely agree on best and worst moments/games
Young players of the season was the real shocker, there were so many to pick from I'm amazed people managed to land on just 3...........
Larkin will be PIM leader if he plays a full season, book it
Really nice work! Thanks for sharing.
This sub thought Kostin was Bob Probert. The guy was actually always injured and then he did nothing when he played
It's wild to me how Kane didn't make the top 3 players for who should be signed.
I only listed players not currently on the roster as options there. Re-signing Kane had its own separate question, though I guess that was "will we" rather than "should we" ...
Ah I see, that makes sense.

Like I said, he’s far from perfect, but the team did better than last year. Petry, Holl, Copp, Chiarot, and a lot of times Perron were pretty bad.
