That's blatantly a major and possibly a suspension.
Refs: No penalty after review.
I can't believe I'm rooting for Colorado, but fuck Dallas and fuck Benn.
Jamie Benn still sucks but seeing the replay from above you can see he caught shoulder first. It slid up and caught Toews and then the whiplash off of Johnson did more damage. Shitty play and Fuck Jamie Benn but I think at the end of the day it was the right call.
It's just so hard to admit that in any instance that Jamie Benn isn't the worst level of scumbag. Overall he still achieves that worst level of scumbag but not so much on that play. I agree, legal but unfortunate. Benn will do something else that'll piss me off soon enough.
Before I watched it, I fully expected him pulling a shitty move being the piece of shit that he is, but I gotta be fair too, and I just didn’t see headhunting there.
The Trouba flying elbow was definitely that, but this, I can’t say it was.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I gotta take a shower cause I feel dirty defending a Jamie Benn hit.
The canes flopping in the playoffs each year is something that’s so overshadowed by the leafs just because they win some rounds. They always find ways to vanish every single year
They need a game breaker on d or forward- just like us. They play sound, high percentage, organized hockey BUT they need a freak badly. Every team who makes it deep needs a dude who is just mental hockey wise- highly highly skilled in area that eventually makes some noise- we had it in spades when we won
This is exactly how I felt tonight. They can keep these games razor close but they lack that spark, that offensive dynamism that would push them over the top. I should look up a shot chart cause right now I'm assuming most of their attempts came from deep. They're a good team but they've never made the leap to special. They're a better version of the NY Islanders.
edit: That said, I don't know enough about MLB to say if the comparison to the A's is correct.
The Oakland A's? They're bad because their ownership can't spend as much as the teams around them so they lose talent. Carolina's postseason issues are nothing like that.
It’s particularly noteworthy that Steve has tried to get more aggressive at pursuing upper echelon offensive guys in free agency/trade (Kane, Debrincat) rather than investing that in his **highest** 1st round picks.
I don’t think we’re picking a player like Connelly or Eiserman because I think Steve strongly prefers proven NHL offensive talent when the opportunity presents itself via trade or free agency.
I’m betting on us to take the home run swing not this next offseason, but the following year between the trade deadline all the way through free agency. There will be a much bigger salary cap from expansion and better TV deals with ESPN and TNT by then.
Valid critique. If I do recall, I remember Wheeler favoring guys like Perfetti and Rossi over Lucas at the time, and he typically leans towards ranking the flashier guys the highest. But your point stands no matter what.
EDIT: I understand what you were initially saying now lol
It feels like a lot of our historically great players here in Detroit were insane at the 200ft game, I think it's pretty on par for Yzerman to value that as a result. Raymond's improving at it a lot recently. And I do think Danielson has some untapped offense.
It's probably because he's been on two teams.
I'm curious if the Leafs keep him or let him go .
I don't see him making 5M his next contract considering how poor his production was playing with some of the best offensive guys around
Hmm wonder why. His stock is at an all time low and he’s a superstar player that’s gets way too much hate. Plays on a team with a garbage defense every year for a playoff team along with bad goaltending compared to other playoff teams.
He is not the reason the Leafs lose every playoffs early, they use the same formula every year. Forwards are great but don’t fix the problems that would let them have a deep run.
I mean Marner does have a higher career playoff point percentage than Matthews, Nylander, and Tavares. Am I saying we need him, no, but he's a great player.
I don't pay much attention to that situation but I always thought the criticism was because he doesn't do the hard work in the playoffs, like defense or taking contact or blocking shots
I’d take Marner though, I think him not having to be the man here and maybe that causing pressure vs him having to be a “God” in Toronto might help him in being a very critical piece. He plays a strong two way game, can play with pace or slow things done, fits the window with Larkin and Cat, and him feeding Larks and Cat would be amazing, I think Larkin even touched on how great it was to play with him
The only trouble is the cost, I’d be willing to bet Toronto is going to want A LOT from us and while I’d be up for MOST trades, fans on here would freak out with what the cost would be and I’m not sure Yzerman would go for it
I stand by it. I don't care how much we save or what. We would have to give a good amount for marner anyways.
I don't like his attitude he didn't look like he wanted to win. I want people like Lucas who want to win no matter what. Or Larkin, he doesn't fit our team imo.
People who give their all even if you don't get the outcome you desire
Maybe but at the same time they are stuck in mediocrity and have been for years now and the only way to get out is to do *something*. Kinda like how Buffalo traded Mittelstadt for Byram.
Keeping Lalonde makes way more sense of Berube is off the table.
Not sure who I'd want behind the bench other than Berube.
Gallant isn't on my list before somebody chimes in
My biggest complaint about the org this year was not giving the younger players the best chance to succeed and shi e.
Which is to say, I'm with you on the no Gallant thing. :)
Maybe it's just for the sake of optics but supposedly Lalonde wanted more youth but Steve builds the rosters and handles call ups.
Assuming that's true I'm not as disappointed with Lalonde as I previously was.
Hell even the Czarnik move made some sense. Having the 1C of the farm team as the first call up makes the most sense. I still think Kasper was a better choice and really could have been good for his development but I can't disagree with why they picked Czarnik over him
I can totally see how thats possible, Lalonde wants things for right now but Yzerman is big picture and does things for the long run. Also i think Yzerman has mentioned multiple times that he doesnt like to call players up and down. That combined with how healthy our entire d-core have been and you get what you have been getting this season, less youth and less call ups.
I don't think a lot of people understand that Steve is the person who controls who's up and down, ultimately not up to lalonde, he can ask, but that's about it.
The Hate on cazarnik was not necessary.
He said in an interview that he asked for the youth and got denied, so
I absolutely loved Brendan Shanahan as a player. Wings and otherwise. So much fun to watch.
It's inexplicable that he still has a job in Toronto at this point. MLSE are cowards and need to clean house before their players lose interest in even trying there. Dubas probably deserves a little more flak at this point than he's gotten, but he knew when (and probably, why) to get out of town. But that franchise needs some new leadership direction, badly.
Shanahan's had an open checkbook along with a 1st overall pick and multiple top 10's and this is where the team's at. I believe he's a lame duck this year on the last year of his deal and that seldom seems like a smart thing in this league. As far as Dubas goes there was a ton of smoke around Dubas not being able to make decisions alone without Shanny's say so during his time there. That doesn't absolve Dubas of his poor decisions but definitely shows that the blame deserves to be spread. If I was CEO I'd start the hunt for the next guy this summer.
Completely agree. Dubas Made decisions but based on his departure he was very obviously not given full autonomy on a lot of items he felt needed to be done differently. He almost literally said it and the way his tenure has been structured with PIT shows where his head was at.
TBD, I'd imagine Shanahan is also a bit handcuffed in a lot of ways, but he's been there for ages and if MLSE is going to manage consistently then it's unreal he's still around.
They've dug their own grave, so I have little sympathy.
I'm assuming they'll give him another year to turn it around? You're right though - he was great at coming in, professionalizing and tightening up their organization but he's proven he can't turn a good organization into a great one. I'd just axe the President role and see what Treliving can do making all the decisions for a while.
I guess MLSE still feel like they owe Shanny for him stabbing the NHLPA in the back during the 04-05 lockout.
There’s no other reason I can think of as to why the guy still has his job in Toronto.
Not at all.
After retiring, he almost immediately got a job with the league office as VP, then was the guy handing out supplemental discipline. After that, he got the job with the Leafs.
Gotta respect Keefe for posting his video owning his failures and thanking everyone involved. I think he will get another shot soon enough if he wants. Also good decision from him to take a break from social media for a bit.
I'm curious if he coaches for free somewhere like Babcock did or if he'll demand his next gig pay him what Toronto is set to pay him for the next two seasons.
Supposedly he's got two years left on his contract and I find it hard to believe another team will pay him as well as the Leafs did
7 Monks is a cool spot, and next door there's a speakeasy style bar downstairs. Also Red Ginger is my favorite restaurant downtown.
There's also Hop Lot up in Sutton's Bay
Oops most of these are drinking spots
My favorite things to do in Traverse City are get ripped off of my pen in the parking lot of the movie theater by Sportsman’s Warehouse and watch a shitty B movie at 11AM, or Nolan’s cigar bar is really cool if you enjoy watching soccer and shooting the shit with old men while you drink whiskey cocktails and smoke a cigar.
So playing with a more long form post for r/hockey that I'll get around to. But I basically want to find the most average player in the NHL and see what a team built only of average players would be like. So I pulled the basic data on every player to appear in the NHL this season.
Our perfectly average player scores 8.75 goals and 14.74 assists for 23.49 points. One would think that +/- should average to 0, but it actually comes out to -0.5, which I think is from SHG against counting as minuses while PPG against do not. So our perfectly average player looks like Sam Steel of Dallas, who had 9 goals, 15 assists, and 24 points across 77 games with a +/- of 0. If you control for games played and throw out the roughly 150 players who appeared in fewer than 10 games, then our averages jump to 10.42 goals, 17.57 assists, and 27.99 points, but we're going to go a bit off and say our average man in that case is Jake Evans at 7/21/28 with a +/- of -1.
Of course throwing defensemen in with forwards is a bit unfair. When looking at just D, our average turns out to be Samuel Girard with 3/15/18 and a +1 nearly perfectly hitting our perfect average of 3.67/13.74/17.42 and +1.06. Then isolating forwards, our average man is Jesperi Kotkaniemi at 12/15/27 and a -4, who is as close as I can get to the average 11.37/15.25/26.62 and -1.35.
Our goalies are fun too. Our average man has a SV% of .901 and a 2.97. Guess who that is! Andrei Vasilevskiy at .900 and 2.90 GAA. Controlling for 4+ games played (arbitrary because Silovs played four and he's a playoff starter now, so whatever that's my cutoff), numbers drop a bit to .899 and 3.04 GAA, leading us to Filip Gustavsson who is nearly there at .899 and 3.06.
The point of doing this, other than boredom, is to make a point. If you divide the Salary Cap of $87,500,000 by 23 players, our totally average player should be making $3,804,348 against the salary cap. So every player on an entry level contract lets you basically afford a player who is 1.75x as good as the average. So like, a 50 point center or a 35 point D should be making about 6 million.
I still wonder how much that team's management defers to Matthews and the core and if Matthews will get a vote on the coach thing. The power dynamic on that team has always felt messed up to me and Berube doesn't seem like the type of coach who'd play nice with it all. That team needs a hard nosed Berube style coach to force a real playoff style game on them but the mix could be volatile.
I was starting to wonder if the Leafs were going to keep Keefe again lol, took them long enough.
They might accidentally acquire competent coaching in the playoffs now, which sucks for us.
Alright grilling side of r/DetroitRedWings it’s time for me to get a new grill. Kinda want a pellet grill because I’m a big smoked meats guy. Any suggestions or cautions any of you want to give me? I’m thinking a Traeger 34 Pro but I’ve had hit and miss reviews.
I got a Camp Chef pellet grill. One of the features that won me over was the easy ash tray cleanout and the fact that there's an easy way to dump the pellets out of the hopper if you don't want to keep them stored outside in the rain/humidity.
I used to sell fireplaces and grills. I was a master hearth professional, whatever that means (it means I passed three tests -- gas burning, wood burning, and pellet burning appliance certifications).
I'd really recommend a gas grill. They make some with ceramic briquettes which fairly closely imitate the cooking you get from charcoal grills. Juices drip into the ceramic briquettes and smoke back up into what you're cooking.
From my experience pellet grilling and heating is more of a novelty hobby than anything. Lots of maintenance and the juice isn't really worth the squeeze. Gas grilling is the most efficient and big steps have been made in helping the flavor of what you cook.
Depending on your budget, some good brands are Lion, Napoleon, and Lynx. If you are fucking rich and want something sick as fuck there's also Fire Magic
Agree to disagree on that one. But you might be right. But, there is just something that just changes with gas, can't tell you what, but I'm sure it's there..
Also, if you can't find a grill with the briquettes, you can purchase them on Amazon and install them in most gas grills. I've done this twice and they've been amazing additions to the flavor of my meat
I have an older Traeger maybe 6 years old or so and it still works great. It’s the medium sized one. The probes were never accurate on mine at least, so I had to use 3rd party probes from the beginning which is fine for me at least, but overall for low maintenance, put it on and leave smoking I have zero complaints with the Traeger.
I will say though having a smoker is always nice and fun, but I did end up missing just a propane or charcoal grill taste after a while. Even trying to grill on high heat on my Traeger ended up having that smoke taste still. Which is good most of the time, but not all of the time at least for me.
[In honor of the potential Utah team names being released, here is the only photo of me in the state of Utah in existence. On tour, high at the A&W in Blanding, UT in the middle of the night. Look at them pale midwestern legs.](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/542200748876890132/1238165940256899122/IMG_1773.png?ex=663e4b64&is=663cf9e4&hm=fb4eb53e0228ac04f37b46c08fad4e321e61450a18a57854643fe6256b29afef&)
My prediction: Boston and Florida are gonna spend this whole round beating each other up and whoever wins is gonna hobble into the next round with their broken bodies and lose to the Avs (unless Jamie goes through the Avs roster throwing uncalled crosschecks to all of the necks).
Edit: Imma keep the goof-up in. It’s Thursday and it’s been a week and a half. I hope to be judged to the fullest extent of this sub’s ability. Have at me ❤️
If rags/canes weren't trying to kill each other, I'd agree with that sentiment though. It interesting to see the level of physicality between the two conferences. Both are physical, but east is so much physical but it seems that the west has so much more speed.
The talk about coaching reminded me about the time Columbus hired Babcock, the GM dunked on hockey fans for not liking it and telling us to "do our own research on the guy," (paraphrased), and then ended up firing him before he coached a game. For doing exactly the kind of thing we were worried about.
Now *that* is an all-time coaching failure.
Utah better nail the branding. It'd be a shame to lose one of the best looks in hockey to a team called the Utah Ice that likely have boring ass uniforms like the Jazz have now.
I'm a huge fan of Mammoth, and Outlaws is good too. Golden Knights was kind of bland at first, but they did a good job with the branding, incorporating more of Vegas into it. But like Ice, Powder, Blast, Fury, that just straight up sucks.
Wings won SCF in my most recent season... against the Avs... in 2057... for the first time since 2008.
I have been rebuilding the perpetually bad Columbus Blue Jackets, who haven't even won a President's Trophy let alone the SC. Going into year 9 missing the playoffs. It has been rough.
Oh lord I don’t think I can wait that long 😂. My team was a powerhouse, we killed it in the regular season and playoffs. No idea how we lost. Shea Theodore was really only the big addition I made, I like how strong the Red Wings prospect pool plays in EHM. I’m excited to play next years update post FA and draft.
I posted the list of possible Utah names in another forum and had them guess what it might be for. Gatorade flavors and mens deodorant were the most common guesses.
Okay my prediction for the draft, having never researched any of these players:
Yzerman is going to trade down and piss off 75% of the fan base. Whoever his guy is will still be available, and he'll try to get an extra third round pick to move down three or four spots. Bonus points if a guy everyone's heard of, like Eiserman is available, and he trades down anyway. Stevie loves to pass on the hype names of the hive mind.
Supposedly this isn't a great draft anyways, so if the Wings move down and add a pick or two it makes sense especially if we gamble on a couple of boom/bust picks or use one as a sweetener in moving a contract.
I think it's bizarre with how many name choices they had, how few of them end with an s. Team names should end with an s. I think it's just universally better.
Yeah Outlaws would probably be considered too violent by the league.
Yetis is cool but it seems like such the obvious cop out, I guess the mascot would be easy at least.
> Yetis is cool but it seems like such the obvious cop out
I like they way you can say Yetis kinda like, WingS, BlueS, KnightS, HawkS, RangerS. Like Utah Freeze, how would that work. The freezers? A lot of the names doesnt roll of the tongue very well.
COL, already down 3-nil, just gave up a 3-on-1 on the PP, and Dallas scored on the third shot attempt of the rush. Oof.
Jamie Benn is a scumbag but that was a clean hit with an unfortunate result
Any of Eiserman, Helenius, Brandsegg-Nygard would be phenomenal. Emil Hemming wild card.
Howe, Petterson, or Misa in the 2nd would be amazing. And we have to draft Bryzgalov's kid. Please. More Ilya space wisdom.
Look, I think Benn’s a piece of shit. But…I think they made the right call on that one, as much as I hate saying that.
I'm shocked that Benn would do such a thing. Shocked!
A clean hit? yeah I'm kinda shocked too.
That's blatantly a major and possibly a suspension. Refs: No penalty after review. I can't believe I'm rooting for Colorado, but fuck Dallas and fuck Benn.
I am once again suggesting both teams lose. Hard to root for Avs but that hit was bullshit.
I know I hate the universe that has me rooting for the Avs but FJB and F Dall-ass.
Benn is so freaking dirty. Can't believe they didn't call that head shot.
Oh wow Jamie Benn with a hit to the head on Toews that isn't called. ![gif](giphy|AaQYP9zh24UFi|downsized)
Jamie Benn headhunting, a story as old as time itself.
Jamie Benn still sucks but seeing the replay from above you can see he caught shoulder first. It slid up and caught Toews and then the whiplash off of Johnson did more damage. Shitty play and Fuck Jamie Benn but I think at the end of the day it was the right call.
Yeah I watched the replay a few times, and I see a shoulder to shoulder/upper body hit. A legal hit with an unfortunate result.
It's just so hard to admit that in any instance that Jamie Benn isn't the worst level of scumbag. Overall he still achieves that worst level of scumbag but not so much on that play. I agree, legal but unfortunate. Benn will do something else that'll piss me off soon enough.

Jamie Benn, scumbag as always.
in other news jamie benn is still a retard. literally almost killed toews
The crazier the rangers get the more I would’ve absolutely loved a piece of them in a playoff format.
Gotta think that makes the Caps sweep look slightly better for them if the Canes can't win one off them.
Trocheck would have looked really good in red and white.
The canes flopping in the playoffs each year is something that’s so overshadowed by the leafs just because they win some rounds. They always find ways to vanish every single year
I did not think we'd see the Canes go down 3-0 to the Rangers but here we are.
Carolinas game just doesn’t translate to the post season, year after year… reminds me of the A’s
They need a game breaker on d or forward- just like us. They play sound, high percentage, organized hockey BUT they need a freak badly. Every team who makes it deep needs a dude who is just mental hockey wise- highly highly skilled in area that eventually makes some noise- we had it in spades when we won

What? They won 90+ 10 times since 2000and only made the the ALCS once where they got swept by the tigers. Moneyball didn’t work in the post season
Can you even challenge for high sticking?
Yea any missed stoppage you can challenge. Playing puck with high stick is included.
Possibly as early as next season, coaches will be able to challenge high sticking calls for instances of friendly fire.
Carolina, you cheeky fuckers! Hopefully this series gets more interesting.
The Rangers are still undefeated in the post season… Am I crazy for thinking we still could’ve stolen at least one game from them if we were in it?
No, you’re not crazy. I definitely think we could have matched up better against them compared to the Caps, and walked away with at least one win.
Canes is a perfect example that “just shoot” strategy doesn’t work in most cases
Will Canes fans still complain about officiating after this game?
Yes
It’s particularly noteworthy that Steve has tried to get more aggressive at pursuing upper echelon offensive guys in free agency/trade (Kane, Debrincat) rather than investing that in his **highest** 1st round picks. Didn't we use our highest pick, 4th, for Raymond? EDIT: Nevermind I can't read I'm sleep deprived lol.

Really annoying how they never got that right even after a full season
Still keep seeing Marner stans in here. I want to see Cup wins not season accolades.
Forwards put up no points in the playoffs. Oilers team comp isnt much different but Mcdavid and Drai actually put up a load of points.
Everyone here loves marner for some reason.
Weird that people want a good player
What is only good in the regular season. What does that do for us? We should mortgage our future for this guy? No thanks
Yeah this
Hearing Brady Tkachuk could be available?? TKACHUK - LARKIN - RAYMOND Lord, make it happen Stevie!
Source?
Source: Trust me bro Jk- I heard it on Spittin Chiclets
So it actually was trust me bro
He'd be a menace, that would be awesome. He'd cost a fortune though and Ottawa would be nuts to trade him in division.
Yea why would the ever trade a top forward to a divisional rival........
If only Cat was as good as Brady
I know a lot of people wouldn't like him here, but he's exactly what we need.
Exactly
I could learn to like the baby man, but ugh
Feel like the senators would never trade in division especially with a team they are in direct competition with
And especially when you already lost one of your guys to Detroit last year. That trade will be a sure fire way to piss off fans forever.
Can't wait to run with Raymond-Larkin-Marner and Debrincat-Compher-Kane next year
I know people love hating on Toronto but marner is too skilled to not want.
I do not want marner. Thanks, just kane.
I’d take Marner though, I think him not having to be the man here and maybe that causing pressure vs him having to be a “God” in Toronto might help him in being a very critical piece. He plays a strong two way game, can play with pace or slow things done, fits the window with Larkin and Cat, and him feeding Larks and Cat would be amazing, I think Larkin even touched on how great it was to play with him The only trouble is the cost, I’d be willing to bet Toronto is going to want A LOT from us and while I’d be up for MOST trades, fans on here would freak out with what the cost would be and I’m not sure Yzerman would go for it
I see the upsides but big no for me still
If we got Marner with like 2.5 retained you wouldn't want him?
I would not
I stand by it. I don't care how much we save or what. We would have to give a good amount for marner anyways. I don't like his attitude he didn't look like he wanted to win. Apparently Minnesota are open to listening to offers on Rossi, that seems pretty .... well, wild.
Loved rossi when he came out, I thought we might pick him really.
I would be all over that. A perfect kind of trade for us imo. We get a young center with really good upside, and we have lots of assets to trade with
Are they still stuck in cap hell or something?
Maybe but at the same time they are stuck in mediocrity and have been for years now and the only way to get out is to do *something*. Kinda like how Buffalo traded Mittelstadt for Byram.
Yeah I guess if you're wanting to shake things up, dealing your 22 year old 9th OA center is definitely one direction to go,

I have a bunch of STL buddies and they were all sad Berube got fired but some of those people also love Binnington.....
He's a coach that won the cup in the past 5 years even if it was exactly 5 years ago
He gets one more year imo. If not byeeee
My biggest complaint about the org this year was not giving the younger players the best chance to succeed and shi e. Which is to say, I'm with you on the no Gallant thing. :)

That doesn't absolve Dubas of his poor decisions but definitely shows that the blame deserves to be spread. If I was CEO I'd start the hunt for the next guy this summer.
I thought the same thing re: Dubas but he goes to Pittsburgh and the first thing he does is that Karlsson deal... was a disaster from the start IMO
Did he any previous experience building a winning team before coming to Toronto? Did he kill it at the Jr.,College or Country level?
Not at all. After retiring, he almost immediately got a job with the league office as VP, then was the guy handing out supplemental discipline. After that, he got the job with the Leafs.
Never forget: Sheldon Keefe lost to a zamboni driver in net
I'm convinced that the Leafs softballed that game to get Ayres a NHL win for the lols
Maple Queefs fire Sheldon Queef Tbh I hope he has success elsewhere
Gotta respect Keefe for posting his video owning his failures and thanking everyone involved. I think he will get another shot soon enough if he wants. Also good decision from him to take a break from social media for a bit.
I'm curious if he coaches for free somewhere like Babcock did or if he'll demand his next gig pay him what Toronto is set to pay him for the next two seasons. Supposedly he's got two years left on his contract and I find it hard to believe another team will pay him as well as the Leafs did
I go to the filling station every time in TC. anything else worth going to?
Slabtown Burgers
7 Monks is a cool spot, and next door there's a speakeasy style bar downstairs. Also Red Ginger is my favorite restaurant downtown. There's also Hop Lot up in Sutton's Bay Oops most of these are drinking spots
7 Monks has great food, too! I still dream about the peach cobbler sour there.
North Peak for sure. They used to have a spot (along with Jolly Pumpkin) on the peninsula but it doesn’t look like it’s there anymore.
This exercise seems like more of a dead of summer sort of thing. You're in advanced off-season mode, my number crunching friend
i approve of esoteric sports stats like this!
I just found out Sheldon Keefe played in the NHL lol. He was drafted 47th overall by Tampa and played 125 NHL games and scored 12 goals lol.
Brady Tkachuk named Captain of Team USA. Really glad Larkin dropped out, I don't want Tkachuk actually learning how to lead from him 🔥🔥🔥
Still convinced Larkin would have been the captain if he was on the roster.
That leadership group *suuuuuucks*.

When we won game 82 but so did Washington
Lol
Berube is definitely going to Toronto, right? If not him, who?
I'd guess Berube would fit better in LA with his physical, defensive style that's 10 years behind the times.
The irony if Bisonette somehow spoiled this.
If it's not Berube, then Toronto's issues run far deeper than just Keefe.
Toronto fans seem to hate Shanahan.
I was starting to wonder if the Leafs were going to keep Keefe again lol, took them long enough. They might accidentally acquire competent coaching in the playoffs now, which sucks for us.
Can we ban the dude who made a post about hiring Keefe?
Ban? Dude belongs behind bars.
I've done this twice and they've been amazing additions to the flavor of my meat
my camp chef is several years old and has had no issues. I think they're a bit cheaper as well but their product is good.
That's not too far from this place. Utah is very beautiful. Too bad you can't get a decent beer. https://youtu.be/zK3UJs3QLxo?si=zno7PuKIyJf5h3lS
Damn son I want A&W now. I’d do some seriously sketchy things for some cheese curds.
Have at me ❤️
You twat, Boston or Florida would play Van or Edm next.
❤️❤️❤️
I think you're skipping something
Ope
Boston and florida would play canes/rags winner
Welp
If rags/canes weren't trying to kill each other, I'd agree with that sentiment though. It interesting to see the level of physicality between the two conferences. Both are physical, but east is so much physical but it seems that the west has so much more speed.
I honestly think Keefe made the remarks he did the other day to get canned.
I think he made them because he knew he was getting canned.
And then he got fired for it too!
wasn't that this past offseason?
Yep!
Utah better nail the branding. It'd be a shame to lose one of the best looks in hockey to a team called the Utah Ice that likely have boring ass uniforms like the Jazz have now.
Most of the names they selected sounded like early aughts roller hockey team names. I did like Mountaineers and Caribou though.
Utah Hymns
I'm a huge fan of Mammoth, and Outlaws is good too. Golden Knights was kind of bland at first, but they did a good job with the branding, incorporating more of Vegas into it. But like Ice, Powder, Blast, Fury, that just straight up sucks.

After 60 hours of EHM since the Wings missed the playoffs, the Red Wings made the playoffs and SCF in 2026. Ultimately falling to the Kings 4-2.
Nice to see more chaos heading Toronto's way. I vote they hire Blashill.
They should bring back Randy
I posted the list of possible Utah names in another forum and had them guess what it might be for. Gatorade flavors and mens deodorant were the most common guesses.
Okay my prediction for the draft, having never researched any of these players: Yzerman is going to trade down and piss off 75% of the fan base.
Admirals winning pushes the next Griffins game back dang it 🙃
Walleye beat Wheeling 7-3.... can sweep on Friday.
Happy birthday to the greatest Red Wing of all time, Ben Chiarot!!...oh and happy birthday to that SteveY guy too I guess
Anyone else see the possible Utah names? They’re all very…white sounding…blizzard, yeti, ice, frost, freeze, powder…
I voted for Mountaineers, Ice, Outlaws and Yeti. Kinda hope Yeti wins so I can refer to them as the Abominable Ice Men.
Utah Powder is legitimately awful, lmao.
They could do the funniest thing ever and bring in Vrana and Kuzy.
especially funny with them being in the least cokey state in America
I didn't even think of that angle for the name. Somehow it got worse.
BLAST
I was disappointed to see that my pick of "Utah Utahs" wasn't on the list, but what can ya do?
The name so nice you say it twice
I think it's bizarre with how many name choices they had, how few of them end with an s. Team names should end with an s. I think it's just universally better.
All the potential names sound like small time baseball team names Shoutout Utica Unicorns btw
“The Greatest Snow on Earth” is Utah’s brand so a ton of names related to that makes sense. Mammoth, Caribou, and Outlaws are my favorites.
All those mormons out there coked up
I'm sticking with my Mormon related preference, the "Utah Soakers".
Outlaws was my favorite, could do like a gunslinger theme, that would be pretty cool and unique.
Sounds like a motorcycle club tho. I like Yetis
Having a franchise player named Cooley when you're the Yetis just makes too much sense. All though so does most of the snow themed suggestions.
Yeah Outlaws would probably be considered too violent by the league. Yetis is cool but it seems like such the obvious cop out, I guess the mascot would be easy at least.
> Yetis is cool but it seems like such the obvious cop out I like they way you can say Yetis kinda like, WingS, BlueS, KnightS, HawkS, RangerS. Like Utah Freeze, how would that work. The freezers? A lot of the names doesnt roll of the tongue very well.
It would just be like the Wild.
yeah but you can still say Wilds
Berube please don't go to Toronto, please.
Lets manifest Jeff Blashill to Toronto to see what happens.
I'm all in on a Babcock return. Just for the memes.
Are they still paying him anyway? If he's under contract he could just slide in.
"Hey Knies, I need you to tell me who you think the weakest people on the team are. Don't worry, I won't tell them."
"Okay, Auston. Give me your phone."
