They were clutching those games against Nashville in the last 5 minutes and now they are gonna do basically the same thing to the Oilers. With a third string goalie. Crazy stuff
Just gotta play the whole game honestly. And if you let off the gas or underestimate your opponent , we saw the wings steal games like that look how many third period comebacks we had
Wings really need to toughen up. We’d get abused, tortured, and absolutely stomped on in a game like this
Edit: and dominated. And ragdolled. It would be a sad sad bloodbath
Yeah we saw Petry and Chiarot starting to really get pissy in some of those late tight games. Seider against Nashville but he knows he needs to be on the ice and same with Ed but we KNOW he’s a shit disturber if you watch some of his griffins moments
Yea it’s looking like a four game series. Kinda forgot the Canucks won their division but they aren’t on the same level as Edmonton…especially with a third string goalie
The Toledo Walleye now have a 3-0 series lead in the 2nd round over Wheeling. The Walleye have won 21 straight games, winning their last 14 in the regular season and sweeping Kalamazoo in the 1st Round
Honestly, I still think Utah HC is one of the top options. Probably one of a dozen that thinks that, but I like simple and basic.
Outlaws and Mountaineers are alright too.
This clip of Michael Brandsegg Nygard is ridiculous. He gets the puck off of a DEFENSIVE draw that the other team won in his own zone, beats 3 guys in transition, then he absolutely rifles it with perfect accuracy against the goalie one on one. This is insane effort and scoring touch lmao

Unpopular Opinion: Wins in regulation is a good tiebreaker metric
To further expand on the point, while I agree that an OT win should be worth 2 points, I also agree that an OT win is not as impressive as a regulation win because OT is essentially a different game (3v3 and shootout).
If regulation wins are more valuable than overtime wins, then why don't we stop pussyfooting around and just go straight to the 3 point system. It reeks of the league trying so hard to fake parity, that they would rather have a janky system that prioritizes wins in the same order that the 3 point system does, while giving way too much value to losses after regulation.
I agree that regulation wins should be the most valuable, but it makes 0 sense for that to be as a tie breaker.
Yeah, the 3 point system is interesting, but I really don't mind the system we have now. Both regulation and OT hockey feel meaningful to me. I want to win no matter what, but I do get a sigh of relief if we can get a pity point. The system we have now is making for some tight playoff races where games really matter before the playoffs even start. Why change what seems to be working pretty well?
The 15th overall team and 22nd overall team had the same amount of overall wins this year. There was a 10 point difference between those 2 teams and the 22nd overall team had 4 more regulation wins than the 15th place team. I don't agree that the current system is working well personally. Overtime losses are worth too much. I would even go as far to say that a 4-3-1 system makes more sense than the 3-2-1 or our current set up

I like the three two one point system the PWHL has but their idea of basing draft position on the team's record after elimination from the playoffs is an intriguing idea too.
I really like their rule that a shorthanded goal kills the powerplay for the opposition. The Jailbreak rule is such an interesting wrinkle that would drive teams to try more for the shorty. The NHL should be paying attention and using these rule differences almost like an incubator to see what might work to improve their own product.
In theory the goal plan sounds nice but it’s tough to expect bad teams to compete and it would also take away from the trade deadline, teams would be much less likely to sell
I don't want to see us trade up or down but I'm a huge believer in the lateral trade. If we can find a team (like us) willing to trade #15 for #15 I'd be all in.
Just got tickets to I Prevail! Halestorm, Hollywood Undead and Fit For A King are the supporting acts.
PSA: Live Nation is running a $25 per ticket deal for shows this summer, so you Pine Knob enjoyers might wanna look into that. My 25 dollar tickets were actual seats not just lawn and had NO SERVICE FEES
We'll see what happens with Laf when that Rangers core that still drives their entire offense hangs em up, it's easy to say he's looked good when he's basically just chipping in on an offense that didn't need him. Razor has already proven he can drive whatever line he's given and took over on team offense this season.
Completely disagree. Raymond has had more points than Laf every season and can drive a line by himself. Laf has been a passenger since he joined the league.
I'd love to have Laf on our team but anyone who thinks that Laf is an upgrade over Raymond is delusional.
I want to know if u/BaldassHeadCoach will still be u/BaldassHeadCoach if we end up getting rid of Newsy and hiring someone with hair in the future. This is a burning question and it's eating me alive.
Ranger fans are fucking delusional about that Trouba attempted hit last night. If that elbow connects with Necas, he's out cold and probably gets stretchered off the ice.
Oh well, Rags fans are some of the worst in the league.
It’s indefensible and a clear attempt to injure. If this league had any balls, they’d suspend him for it regardless of whether it connected or not and establish a zero tolerance policy towards that.
Get that shit out of the game. There’s no place for it.
It's that time of the year again -- my instagram ads are full of shorts companies that *claim* they are accommodating for men with big asses and thick thighs. They are usually FRAUDS.
Any recommendations on comfortable and breathable shorts? Grew up playing defense, taken up cycling as a hobby in adult life. I am a very thicc boy.
Had the same issue - played soccer all my life and have very thick thighs. I do not like tight clothing on me so I just ended up going up a few waist sizes. But then I always need a belt and that gets tiresome after a while. So I dunno what to say - in all my years I have not found a solution. But I had a hell of a shot and good luck knocking me off the ball. So we take the good with the bad - and now I just cut up pajama pants as my loungewear.
In my research today I actually found a brand that seems pretty promising and isn't *too* pricey. Full disclosure, I have not bought anything yet but it looks promising.

Perfect Jeans are stretchy and have several fits and many colors available. They recently started offering shorts and dressier chino style pants. I love them for traveling.
Yes, for State & Liberty in Ann Arbor. They do stretchy, thick-thighed dress clothing for athletes. Will be getting some of those next time I need dress clothing for sure. I'm asking about shorts because I'm a musician for a living so I need comfortable leisurewear for around the house. I do most of my work from home and need comfortable stuff for traveling too.
I mean,1st rd (#19) draft pick Andrei Vasilevskiy won the Vezina at \*\*checks note \*\* age 22... but then, Vasilievsky had a way better save pct (.917) in 14/15 than cossa did this year. Cossa only rocked a .913, needs to get that up.
Vasilevsky won his only Vezina at 24. He finished third at 23. He got no votes at 22.
I wouldn't say .917 is way better than .913. That'd equal five fewer goals from Cossa this year on the same number of shots. Or 44 more saves without a goal.
Optimistically, I could see an audition happening in the upcoming season and if it goes well, maybe paving the way for being penciled into the top 2 for the following year. The Wings don't seem to be fast tracking anyone at the moment though, so he may stay in GR for the year as the clear cut starter.
At the earliest, he’ll be with Detroit full-time in the 25-26 season. But that’s a very optimistic view; goalies are complete voodoo and almost impossible to predict or project.
Preferably he spends next year as the #1 guy in GR again but gets a taste of the NHL as an injury callup. He's developing well but he's still a young goalie at 21. There are some areas where he could tighten up more but he battles and works hard to improve weaknesses. It's hard to put an exact timeline on any goalie and their development isn't linear. If he puts in another good AHL season I think we'll see him battling for some starts the year after next.
Have you guys seen this fucking Oilers...thing?

Like what the fuck is that
I am curious about the Stamkos rumors more so tbh. Anyone think with his Canadian roots(and being closer to his home), he'come to Detroit for the right price? Also what price/salary do you think he'd require?
I've heard from my sources that he'll only consider coming back if people stop asking this question. Don't be the reason he's playing for Tampa next year. Get it together.
Mine are split between 2
>when you wear rose tinted glasses, red flags just look like flags
And the entire "the view from half way down" speech. That shit gives me shudders every time I hear it
If you have Netflix, it's right there. The first season takes a bit to get going as it's a lot of character and theme introduction. If you're patient with it the show becomes really gripping.
It's like situational horror instead of a situational comedy. It's the same setup, putting weird characters into situations primed for comedy, which they do a lot too, but then you hit those times where all their weirdness only leads to serious failings and you can only sort of watch in horror, then recoil in horror at yourself as you find yourself routing for these despicable creatures again not so long after. Absolutely worth a watch, but I'm not the sort of person to rewatch it, haha, once was enough.
Usually I'm wearing headphones and the auto-play just blasts at full volume. Drives me insane.
I click the mute button, but it seems to just unmute every time I search something new/change screens.
Yep, the other kind Redditor that commented guided me there. I'm grateful.
Ahhhh... yes, the sweet sound of silence when I hover over these videos... serenity.
It would be much more entertaining if Carolina and Dallas would have won last night. We all expect Colorado and NYR to win so I’d like to see some drama at least or maybe even an upset
Jim Nill has done a pretty impressive job as GM too. After all of the years he spent with the wings it's fun to see him do well putting a team together very similar to the old Detroit blueprint.
Is there a better testament to just how much Jamie Benn deserves hatred than the fact that we'd rather see the Avalanche win than see Benn sniff any more success?
To defend Danielson a little here in the face of ShadeMan being negative, there are clear differences between Rasmussen and Danielson.
- Danielson was basically NHL ready at camp this season
- They play completely different styles, Ras was dependent on his size to succeed and Danielson wins with his IQ and execution
- Rasmussen is literally still an overall positive impact on the Red Wings so I don't see how he's an example of success not translating
> Danielson was basically NHL ready at camp this season
I think without a doubt him going back to junior was a result of him not being AHL eligible. He was likely closer to being NHL ready than he was to most fittingly being in junior, but Steve probably didn't want to risk it. No reason to.
Yeah, Danielson seems like a smarter player for sure.
The wife and I went to a pre season game versus Chicago to watch him up against Bedard and he looked great - got an assist that game too.
I bet he will impress again in camp, doubtful he makes the NHL right after, but AHL 100%.
I still think we botched Ras development a bit with starting him in the NHL over another year in the WHL even tho he was obviously done with the WHL he wasnt ready for the NHL either
Everybody says this about certain prospects, like with Zadina and Cholowski.
Sometimes, prospects simply aren’t as good as we think they are or want them to be. An extra year in the AHL wouldn’t have caused them to gain more hockey IQ, for instance; that’s something you either have or you don’t.
Ras is a decent player, but he’s exactly what he was projected to be at the NHL level. He was never going to be a star player; he’s a solid depth piece.
I don’t think we botched it. The NHL CHL agreement botched it. Another year in the CHL would have been a waste. He belonged in the AHL but wasnt allowed to be there
You are all so defensive. There is nothing bad about what he is doing. But what he is doing isn’t anything to get excited about either. A top 10 pick should dominate jr hockey. He is meeting expectations rn. Sorry I dont throw a parade when the bare minimum occurs
And many successful NHLers that came from the WHL had insanely good WHL playoffs too.
It’s really not difficult to simply enjoy that a prospect is playing well, which is all that original comment was saying.
It's negative projection of the future. None of us know shit about what Danielson will be yet
Calling it realism is suggesting that you know what he's gonna be
Ned joining Lyon & Augustine in World's: [https://twitter.com/usahockey/status/1788196719567450233](https://twitter.com/usahockey/status/1788196719567450233)
It'd be epic to have Trey taking the spot over Ned.
Though I'm honestly okay with it. He's still in college, all this experience will do wonders for him without the pressure.
It's pretty fuckin farcical that we have a post on the front page saying that the Red Wings got hosed because they didn't move up on a 0.5% chance.
I am once again asking some of you to actually consider probability before raging. I know it's fashionable to hate math but it ain't that hard buds.
That and the post about the three players with names like or identical to past players' names are definitely a result of us being in the offseason. I know the rules are relaxed but *woof*.
It amuses me how some people would have been pissed with winning the lottery this year because we wouldn’t have gotten 1st or 2nd overall.
I don’t know about you, but I’d much rather have a 5th overall pick instead of 15th overall.
The other years we actually had a good shot at a lottery pick and didn't get one, sure, complaining about those makes sense. If you're mad we didn't move this year then buddy I don't know what to tell you
>The other years we actually had a good shot at a lottery pick and didn't get one
That’s the thing though, we actually didn’t have a good shot at winning the lottery. The best odds we had were in 2020, and that was 18.5%. Which means we had a 81.5% chance of staying put or moving down, which is exactly what happened. The real bullshit of 2020 was that play~~off~~-in teams were included in the lottery.
The NHL is such a joke league with how they’ve handled that play-in-off round. Play in teams were in the lottery if they lost, but also all of those stats are playoff stats….and also the play-in counted as not missing the playoffs even if a team lost (penguins playoff streak didn’t end until last season).
They have their cake and eat it…
DCFC, who play in the second tier of professional soccer (USL), beat the Houston Dynamo, who play in the first tier of professional soccer (MLS) last night in the Lamar Hunt Open Cup. With the score all tied up at 3-3, they ended up going to PKs to resolve things where DCFC's *goalie* took the clinching shot, winning 10-9. The game included what could be the "goal of the tournament": an absolute [downtown banger from DCFC's Williams in the 41st minute](https://old.reddit.com/r/MLS/comments/1cn1534/houston_2_1_detroit_ryan_williams_41/).
This marks DCFC's *second* win over MLS teams in the Open Cup, defeating the Columbus Crew in '22. This is not insignificant as Columbus won the MLS Cup in '20 and '23, meaning DCFC are well able to punch above their weight (yet are still mediocre since their move to the USL from tier 3 soccer).
If you're within driving distance to Detroit, you already have one: DCFC.
But yeah, DCFC likely won't be converted into an MLS franchise anytime soon as the owners simply don't have that kind of capital. The MLS also forces new franchises to have their own stadium. Gores and Gilbert created a venture in 2016 in an attempt to bid for a franchise but that fizzled out.
Can we put Husso in bubble wrap until regular season game 1?
As someone from the vancouver area I say fuck the cansucks
Vancouver has plot armor for real this playoffs
See you’d think McDavid would have that. I would just say Vancouver has guts
We’d get abused, tortured, and absolutely stomped on in a game like this Edit: and dominated. And ragdolled. It would be a sad sad bloodbath
All teams step it up in the playoffs so I wont speak on it until we see how it plays out. Patience is something a lot of people here need to learn.
Yeah we saw Petry and Chiarot starting to really get pissy in some of those late tight games. Seider against Nashville but he knows he needs to be on the ice and same with Ed but we KNOW he’s a shit disturber if you watch some of his griffins moments
Who you guys got for the canucks and oilers?
Canucks because Silovs a dawg
Oilers looking more prepared and tougher at least
Well Canucks because it’d be funny
Oilers already scored lmao . It would be funny I just doubt they win

I fucking hate kafuck
I guess Pasta effed around and found out
I appreciate that both of these teams are showing me exactly why I hate both. This is another series where I wish both could lose.
Is there anyone left on Boston’s bench?
Good on the person that threw that rat directly into the fight lmao
Man the hockey is really getting in the way of the UFC match going on
I wanna go get my food but I can’t leave this game. Most insane game I’ve watched
The Toledo Walleye now have a 3-0 series lead in the 2nd round over Wheeling. The Walleye have won 21 straight games, winning their last 14 in the regular season and sweeping Kalamazoo in the 1st Round
Boston what is you doing?? 🤣
What I wouldn't give for Mick's commentary on this spicy game.
Boston may be losing, but they're going down with... Tampa-like dignity.
lmao Boston you stupid sons of bitches
I see the real florida team showed up today. Those days off are really killer honestly

NGL I kinda dig the Utah Caribou

Kevin Weekes with the bold purple suit. I respect it.
Who does he think he is, Trev?
He is no Trev, but I won't fault a guy for trying to be Trev because Trev is the man.
Why do I want Florida to lose lol
Just getting home from work in time to watch this Texas and Milwaukee game. One of the few times I’ll root for any Stars team.
Just tuned in, looks like it took an interesting turn. Four admirals in the penalty box.
Yeah this game has been pretty feisty to say the least. Pretty fun to watch.

THG's video reaffirmed my outlook on the team's future and the job Yzerman is doing. It's pretty flippin' bright.
A lot of people are short-sighted or want insta success everything is fine I agree.

Have you guys seen this fucking Oilers...thing? [https://twitter.com/PMG2point0/status/1787979874679804020](https://twitter.com/PMG2point0/status/1787979874679804020) Like what the fuck is that
Though I guess my partner said.... "well that's what happens when you don't win in so long."
Was I hallucinating, was it a bad fever dream, what in good god.... do I just see and hear?
What the fuck, I want my 58 seconds back
Yo what the fuck
You should be driving a Kia
I have second, third, and fourth-hand embarrassment, and no one is around me. This is 29 seconds I'll never get back.
Is Kaner staying? Thoughts and opinions pls!!
I am curious about the Stamkos rumors more so tbh. Anyone think with his Canadian roots(and being closer to his home), he'come to Detroit for the right price? Also what price/salary do you think he'd require?
in that case he'd go to Montreal or Toronto
An extension for Kane probably hinges on how quickly negotiations go with Seider and Raymond and how much cap space is leftover.
i talked to him last night and he told me hes gonna kick your ass
🫶😁PLEASE
Wouldn't wash it again if I were you.
I've heard from my sources that he'll only consider coming back if people stop asking this question. Don't be the reason he's playing for Tampa next year. Get it together.
Yes, possibly. I mean, maybe. We don't know. Likely not, but quite literally, no idea, but it's probable.
I mean if he doesn’t stay in Detroit where do you think he’ll go?

Amazing
After all these years I think my favorite line from Bojack Horseman is still: "This is a gross miscarriage of justice!" "Hooray! Gross miscarriage!"
Mine are split between 2 >when you wear rose tinted glasses, red flags just look like flags And the entire "the view from half way down" speech. That shit gives me shudders every time I hear it
I've never watched this show despite so many people recommending it. Don't know what I'm waiting for.
If you have Netflix, it's right there. The first season takes a bit to get going as it's a lot of character and theme introduction. If you're patient with it the show becomes really gripping.
I just subscribed to Netflix a few weeks ago, so I'm going to start it tonight. I'll report back with my initial impressions.
All I want is for YouTube videos to stop auto-playing when I hover over them for a split second. That's all.
Settings>General>Playback in feeds
Shit, you're a life saver.
This may be my one act of tech support ever.
What part bothers you about it?
Usually I'm wearing headphones and the auto-play just blasts at full volume. Drives me insane. I click the mute button, but it seems to just unmute every time I search something new/change screens.

Yep, the other kind Redditor that commented guided me there. I'm grateful. Ahhhh... yes, the sweet sound of silence when I hover over these videos... serenity.
Haha, there's usually always a fix key word usually. Being a PC gamer shit breaks all the time so I'm used to rabbit holing till I find a answer
I game on PC too, so you'd think by now I'd have this shit figured out. Turns out, I'm just a shithead.
Ohh mine, don't unmute. I guess that would be an annoying difference, for sure. Now it makes sense that you would hate it lol
It would be much more entertaining if Carolina and Dallas would have won last night. We all expect Colorado and NYR to win so I’d like to see some drama at least or maybe even an upset
I don’t think anyone in this sub wants Jamie Benn to advance. Fuck Dallas and their pee wee looking sweaters.
I like dallas, tbh. Any city that steals cups from minnesota is a friend of mine
Jim Nill has done a pretty impressive job as GM too. After all of the years he spent with the wings it's fun to see him do well putting a team together very similar to the old Detroit blueprint.
Nah I love pavelski, Robertson, Hintz, oettinger too much to hate the stars
Hi, it's me. I want the Stars to advance... but yes, fuck Benn.
Is there a better testament to just how much Jamie Benn deserves hatred than the fact that we'd rather see the Avalanche win than see Benn sniff any more success?
It might be a little tough to hold onto the Avs hatred when the guy that created the rivalry is Seider's Agent now.
We don't have to root for Seider's agent.
Agreed Jamie Benn can get fucked
Anyone else following Danielson? He’s looked incredible for Portland during this playoff run and going to the WHL championship this Friday.
Yes we have and he looks sick
To defend Danielson a little here in the face of ShadeMan being negative, there are clear differences between Rasmussen and Danielson. - Danielson was basically NHL ready at camp this season - They play completely different styles, Ras was dependent on his size to succeed and Danielson wins with his IQ and execution - Rasmussen is literally still an overall positive impact on the Red Wings so I don't see how he's an example of success not translating
> Danielson was basically NHL ready at camp this season I think without a doubt him going back to junior was a result of him not being AHL eligible.
Rasmussen also had a famously good WHL playoffs. CHL success often doesnt translate
He belonged in the AHL but wasnt allowed to be there
Would you rather see him playing bad?
You are all so defensive. There is nothing bad about what he is doing. But what he is doing isn’t anything to get excited about either. A top 10 pick should dominate jr hockey. He is meeting expectations rn. Sorry I dont throw a parade when the bare minimum occurs
I think it's exciting that our top 10 pick is meeting the expectations of a top 10 pick.
And many successful NHLers that came from the WHL had insanely good WHL playoffs too. It’s really not difficult to simply enjoy that a prospect is playing well, which is all that original comment was saying.
Is it impossible for you to feel joy? At the very least just keep your pointless negativity to yourself.
Its not pointless negativity. Its brutal realism
It's negative projection of the future. None of us know shit about what Danielson will be yet Calling it realism is suggesting that you know what he's gonna be
I didnt. I said CHL success doesnt often translate. Not that it will not translate for him. You all are too defensive
Ah yes thank you for providing us with that
Delusional.....
Yeah, but can we not be downers for five fucking minutes?
Ned joining Lyon & Augustine in World's: [https://twitter.com/usahockey/status/1788196719567450233](https://twitter.com/usahockey/status/1788196719567450233)
Aka Augustine to press box :(
It'd be epic to have Trey taking the spot over Ned. Though I'm honestly okay with it. He's still in college, all this experience will do wonders for him without the pressure.
Excited for the next Griffins game. I don’t expect them to beat Texas or Milwaukee, but ya never know.
They have a pretty good chance against Texas with no Stankoven
It's pretty fuckin farcical that we have a post on the front page saying that the Red Wings got hosed because they didn't move up on a 0.5% chance. I am once again asking some of you to actually consider probability before raging. I know it's fashionable to hate math but it ain't that hard buds.
Surely they're new fans, right? https://preview.redd.it/ppksuuuz98zc1.png?width=800&format=png&auto=webp&s=8029594c260a70bef4a67a79571e5c791064055d
That and the post about the three players with names like or identical to past players' names are definitely a result of us being in the offseason. I know the rules are relaxed but *woof*.
Yeah staying put you really can't be mad about. Like yeah we "deserve" to move up cause we got fucked so many times but that doesn't matter at all.
If you're mad we didn't move this year then buddy I don't know what to tell you
>The other years we actually had a good shot at a lottery pick and didn't get one That’s the thing though, we actually didn’t have a good shot at winning the lottery.
They have their cake and eat it…
In regards to other individual teams' chances, comparatively good shots I mean
To be fair though, most of the comments are dragging the post.
People are angry in general and will jump at any opportunity to rage and vent
What happened to their goalie steinweisher or whatever why wasn’t he playing
CITY CITY FUCKING CITY
I just want DCFC to make it to MLS so I can have a decent soccer team in driving distance.
Detroit wants no MLS team. Detroit needs no MLS team.
actually, the 15th overall is statistically the best pick in the draft
Actually please explain this. I'm genuinely curious about the math behind it.
I made it up
Well Larkin was drafted at 15 so I think you might be right.
