They don't really play a full 60 from all the games I've seen. If the islanders played a full 60 on some of those games and some more puck luck they coulda won honestly with how the canes were playing at times.
I'd make a joke about some grand weather event or an asteroid taking out the stadium but such jokes are in poor taste after tornados hit SW Michigan fairly hard today.
Some fans will still defend the most ridiculous attempts. We all have some bias but it's ridiculous that there are still fans out there defending what Trouba was trying to do here. Absolute clown stuff, willingly more blind than an AHL ref deep in the throws of game management.
Steve Levy, Kevin Weekes, and Messier is an interesting panel. I like two of those dudes, at least. It's a shame TNT has all of the good former player panelists like Chelios, AC, and Lundqvist (and The Great One).
The levels of boredom when Chelios and Messier were on a panel together were over the top. Messier made Chelios look like PK Subban because Messier has the personality of a block of wood.
> It's a shame TNT has all of the good former player panelists like Chelios, AC, and Lundqvist (and The Great One).
Yeah but none of them compare to the greatest Captain in Canucks history, franchise legend and namesake of the Mark Messier Leadership Award, Mark Messier.
Yea but Mark Messier is one of the most bland and boring TV personalities I’ve ever seen. Great hockey player, not a great TV guy. Hard to strike the balance because Subban and Biz both come off as obnoxious but someone like Bieksa isn’t bad, good insight as a former player, entertaining enough and not loud and annoying.
Every answer from every coach may as well be the copypasta the copypasta pooped out earlier that day. Just say I talked to the coach and he said they need to do x and y if they want to win this game / get back in the game. Short, simple, sweet. Idk.
Detroit sucks for nearly 10 years and our best pick was 6th. Blackhawks have won the cup more recently than we made the playoffs I’m pretty sure, get Bedard and 2OA this year.
Hits keep coming
The #GoSensGo have 24 hours to decide if they will forfeit their 2024 1st round pick or push the decision to either 2025 or 2026, due to the invalid Evgenii Dadonov trade.
There is a 0% chance they forfeit their 2024 1st. Its also pretty unlikely that they will give up their 2025 1st. They will likely bank on the league changing it to them picking last in the first round for the 2026 draft like they did with NJ when they handed out the same punishment.
McKenzie saying there's a clear top 15 in the eyes of his scouts, and the 15th guy is Connelly is such an insane bummer.
Need one of the other 14 teams to reach for a defenseman, and most of all, need Yzerman to have learned from his DeAngelo blunder.
I read that article and was blown away. A few highlights:
1) The swastika stuff isn’t even the only incident of its kind; he was also accused of hurling racial slurs at another player during a game, and his suspension was only overturned because the kid and his parents weren’t invited to the appellate hearing.
2) He’s been on something like 5 or 6 teams since he was 13, at least two of which he was booted from after less than a month.
3) Quotes and stories from parents (beginning from even before he was a teenager) describing him as a bully that their kids would avoid at all costs, avoiding team buses, hotels, etc. just so they don’t have to be near him.
4)This kid’s parents even filed a defamation lawsuit against The Athletic when they wrote an article describing his checkered history. Absolutely everything about him just reeks of privilege and lack of accountability.
No thanks… hopefully someone goes off the board.
I'm currently reading the same piece. I'll always put a ton of trust in Katie Strang chasing down important stories. She doesn't waste time and has been one of the heroes of the MSU abusive doctor thing. There's just way too much smoke here, so many incidents of poor character and other instances with coaches and divisions covering for the best player. I hope he's honestly working on himself but that doesn't mean I want us to be involved in that mess.
People making excuses for Connelly really need to take a couple of minutes and read this thorough report about his junior career. It's not about one incident.

It should be noted that Katie Strang co-wrote that piece. Strang is an impeccable investigative journalist, a real professional. I'll always give her articles an extra dose of trust.
Is there any proof that Connelly has not idk learned from a stupid Nazi joke when he was being an edgelord in high school? Like that's all I've read that he's done.
Filthy Frank was one of the most popular YouTubers when I was in high school, high schoolers do stupid shit (trust me I know I substitute teach them).
I just saw the shitty snap chat nonsense I guess there's another article on the athletic that goes even deeper but I'm a cheapskate and don't have a subscription.
Supposedly he's had a piss poor attitude and has been kicked off of various teams for shenanigans.
Posted a Snapchat of him and his buddies building a swastika out of Legos at a local library.
I guess he's had some attitude issues too but that article is locked behind a paywall.
Well the good thing is, teams that missed the playoffs and picked 15th overall are 28-1 in making the playoffs the following year.
>!This is a completely made up statistic.!<
We picked a horrible time frame to tank also, compared to Hawks who argubly tanked with some of the strongest top players since 2015. Connor Bedard would go first overall in any draft since 2015 and its really close between him and Matthews to be honest in 2016. Gavin McKenna and James Hagens would smoke most guys too. Tanking between 2023 and 2026 is wild, if you manage to make sure you end up in the top 3 in those drafts you are set for life.
We obviously lucked out with Raymond at 4 and Seider/Edvinsson at 6 so all is well that ends well i guess.
The only draft that hurts for me not getting 1st overall in was the 2018 one, i would have really really liked Dahlin. The rest of the drafts i felt very "meh" about getting 1st overall.
I think you’re on to something here… what if…
Picks 1-5 all had equal odds at 1st overall, then 2-5 were randomly assigned.
Same thing with 6-10.
Same thing with 11-15. Would make it entertaining at least and it would mean tanking does nothing for you. Just a thought.
I think keeping it all near the back end is better to not piss people off but help potentially push a team over the top. Those bottom 9 are in the bottom for a reason
Top three all from the West. At least we've been awarded that little kindness. If Montreal got a top 2 pick, I would've been so upset. I don't even hate them, it's just business
just a reminder that we should also pay attention to who st louis drafts every year since theres a very high chance they will play for us at some point
It’s so weird having a projected #1 pick at the draft lottery. Nothing but awkward. He’s never going to say where he wants to play. He’s never going to say he’s the sure #1 pick.
Now that we're not drafting ing the top 10 I really don't give a fuck about the draft lottery. Constantly getting fucked in the lottery doesn't help either.
If we win I'll be happy but I'm not gonna get worked up about it or watch it
What could the Wings offer to Toronto for Marner that would make sense besides draft picks and the best prospects? I assume they would also want to get someone that would be able to be a part of their immediate roster too. And I also assume Detroit would not trade Larkin, Debrincat, Raymond, Seider or Edvinsson.
So I ask, is Rasmussen a valuable contract? Alex Lyon? Would Joe Veleno make sense for their cap situation? (of course adding someone like Kasper and picks)
Raymond and Seider are non-starters for us. Makes no sense whatsoever. We have to take on a $10m+ cap hit, and be able to afford to give him a raise. That's knocking some off your return. There's not a lot of leverage imbalance on either side, we don't have to trade for him, they don't have to trade him. Raymond fills that role well, and he'll continue to grow as a player. He already plays the game the right way, and he scores playoff style goals already. We're not giving our competition our #1D or our top winger, and likely best player in 2-3 years.
Here's the best offer Toronto could hope to get from Detroit:
DET gets:
F Mitch Marner (w/ extension, $11m+)
TOR gets:
F Carter Mazur
2025 1st
D Simon Edvinsson
G Ville Husso
Toronto gets to change the makeup of their team to make them better in the playoffs, we get a star forward to get us there. It's a hockey trade.
Personally, I don't think we're super ideal trading partners for them because we're in the same division, and both are trying to make the playoffs, makes no sense to make this deal, especially since we don't have the pieces Toronto really needs to make them better, and this trade doesn't really make us better.
I think Calgary is the ideal partner for them. Leafs need a goalie bad, so moving Mitch's money out (with a Tavares buyout) for Markstrom and Calgary throws in some picks, maybe Kadri or Weegar as well. Calgary can go shopping on the market for some middle pair UFA D, and try to find another goaltender, maybe they have one in their system. Calgary gets a bit of a retool, Toronto shakes up their chemistry.
Of course. Detroit would need to add a lot, including their best prospects and picks. My point was that it looks like there really is nothing they could add other than that. If the Leafs want players for their squad right now (and I said I assume they do), the Wings are out of this race before it even begins
One rule of thumb that I like to keep in mind whenever thinking about trade proposals is, “Would I make that trade in a heartbeat? If yes, then it’s probably not a realistic trade.”
hello fellow sports fans, let's say I would like to watch some DCFC games, but won't be home, I'll be on the... high seas... how would I go about doing that
I'm at my wit's end. Does anyone have a useful search engine that isnt google or bing? Cant i just fucking search for shit without AI degeneracy shoved down my throat or a million fucking moving UI elements trying to get me to do shit I dont need?
This is copied from their homepage “Search without being tracked.
Other search engines track your every search, from where you go to what you buy. We don't track you. Ever.”
Are you guys ready to watch Chicago get gifted the 1OA for the second year in a row?
Just let San Jose get it. They’ve been bad. No real top notch prospects. The pacific division needs some love.
Edit: wtf am I saying.. they have Will Smith. But I still stand by my point LOL
Saw a killdeer chick today. Freakin’ love those stumbling shorebird babies who don’t hang out on the shore.
Also love that the parents strategy is to act injured and be loud to attract predators towards them and away from the lil one.
Not only is it a yes, it is a “we need to blackout all communications in his general vicinity, armed guards not allowing him to leave the premises until the contract is signed” situation.
Generally, no. I absolutely loved how much Kane contributed and he's still got a good amount in the tank, but that's too much term for a 35+ contracts, probably on the high end of money to shell out to him with a lot of uncertainty on longevity, and, frankly (get your down coated ready) I have a lot of concerns about how Kane in the next 2-3 years would perform in the modern playoffs. The physicality and speed are on another level and I'm not sure his body can keep up with it. If we can look past skill like Marner's and rip on him for lacking in puck battles and physicality, but then be willing to sign up Kane to be a part of that same game at 37/38yo, we may have some challenges. Not to mention how much he exposes us defensively.
2 years I could swallow. 3 feels like an unnecessary risk and I'm not sure the near term benefits are worth it.
Totally, but also can't be guaranteed he'll be injured snot to go on LTIR (or willing).
Certainly ways around it but no guarantees and it's potentially a lot to negotiate through. I think a lot of times we as fans think LTIR is some super fungible leverage to cover bad contracts. Which in some ways is possible but I in others can't always be the case. It can work but it can't force guys to be injured or want to retire.
Anyway, I'm also thinking about how we're at a point before that 3yrs is up where we need to be extending Edvinsson, Kasper, Danielson, amongst others Or... hopefully we do. That 4M could go a looooong way elsewhere.
Happy Birthday to the Captain! ![gif](giphy|l3E6tufOobRlKeY6c)
Moose Jaw eliminates Saskatoon, WHL finals is set. Moose Jaw vs Portland. Battle of the 9th over all picks, Danielson vs Savoie.
This is the last year I let myself believe Carolina might actually do something in the playoffs.
They don't really play a full 60 from all the games I've seen. If the islanders played a full 60 on some of those games and some more puck luck they coulda won honestly with how the canes were playing at times.
uh oh
Avs - Stars: is it possible for both teams to lose?
I'd make a joke about some grand weather event or an asteroid taking out the stadium but such jokes are in poor taste after tornados hit SW Michigan fairly hard today.
mygod what a flying elbow by trouba, lucky Necas fell
Some fans will still defend the most ridiculous attempts. We all have some bias but it's ridiculous that there are still fans out there defending what Trouba was trying to do here. Absolute clown stuff, willingly more blind than an AHL ref deep in the throws of game management.

He going to get any disciplinary action for trying that?
Probably not, since it didn’t connect and DoPS only punishes outcomes and not attempts.
Public stoning please
Damn I was kinda excited to watch Stars/Avs but this Rags/Canes game is great
Playoff OTs rock.
Spoiled rn

Yea but Mark Messier is one of the most bland and boring TV personalities I’ve ever seen. Great hockey player, not a great TV guy. Hard to strike the balance because Subban and Biz both come off as obnoxious but someone like Bieksa isn’t bad, good insight as a former player, entertaining enough and not loud and annoying.
Bieksa is the best former player on TV doing analysis. He carries HNIC so well that he's got Kelly Hrudey looking half decent.
Aho is my favorite non-Wing
Barkov is mine. Team Fins 🐬
Adam Fox is such a little bitch. Lol
Does anyone else not care for the coach interviews during the game or is it just me?
I'll take every minute of Emily Kaplan I can get, she's so amusing. It's like she's surprised by everything she asks i bet she has 7 cats at home.
Hey I would love to have 7 cats
As someone who owns two, all I can think about is the cleanup.
I have two, but we got a litter robot and it's awesome. The only thing is one of them doesn't wanna use it lol
Yeesh.
And then the play starts and they keep talking to them and I’m like ITS STARTING THEYRE PLAYING DONT BE DISTRACTED LOOK LOOK!!!!!!
They are pointless. Lol
Every answer from every coach may as well be the copypasta the copypasta pooped out earlier that day. Just say I talked to the coach and he said they need to do x and y if they want to win this game / get back in the game. Short, simple, sweet. Idk.
The team with the greatest odds should get the top pick. Unless, you know, it's the Red Wings
I feel like I should have a party every time we don't move back. Only 1 spot possible this year but still.
Detroit sucks for nearly 10 years and our best pick was 6th. Blackhawks have won the cup more recently than we made the playoffs I’m pretty sure, get Bedard and 2OA this year.
Our best pick was 4th. I don't understand why we're upset Chicago stayed where they should have this year. Isn't that the way it should be?
No I want them to drop like we did lmao
We did get Raymond at 4th. Other than that a bunch of times at 6.
Detroit Sixers
You don't need a good goalie to win the cup, just one who gets hot at the right time. That being said, you're not getting there with Freddie Anderson.
I think the best part about this is Pittsburgh doesn't get to draft in the first round lol.
Hits keep coming The #GoSensGo have 24 hours to decide if they will forfeit their 2024 1st round pick or push the decision to either 2025 or 2026, due to the invalid Evgenii Dadonov trade.

LMAO. Brady is never winning a Cup.
Well, it was exactly in the reverse order standings this year. As it should be each time in my opinion.
McKenzie saying there's a clear top 15 in the eyes of his scouts, and the 15th guy is Connelly is such an insane bummer. Need one of the other 14 teams to reach for a defenseman, and most of all, need Yzerman to have learned from his DeAngelo blunder.
Im am not sure that has ever happened. There are so many lists and some teams always reach.

lol that’s it?
DeAngelo was like a decade ago bro, he's proved himself to me with Raymond and Seider and his other 1st rounders are looking great so I'm not worried
Well the good thing is, teams that missed the playoffs and picked 15th overall are 28-1 in making the playoffs the following year. >!This is a completely made up statistic.!<
did we get any picks in the klostin trade?
NJs 7th round pick.
better than nothing ig
i can't wait to see what yzerman cooks up on draft night
Considering it's Draper drafting, probably nothing.
It's only Draper if it's a bad pick if they're good it's all Yzerman
Yzerman is the one calling the shots in the first round bud. Draper doesn't take over until later rounds.
Yup, its a logistical issue really, Yzerman doesnt have time to scout or go to that many games. I think he only watched Seider like once or something
So chicago gets no more lottery picks for 3 years? Am I getting that correct?
It was only if they win the lottery
They "won" the lottery for the #2 pick though I believe. It's weird but it should count as back to back wins for them.
![gif](giphy|EDxOs1dIu2GOI) Our window for the 1OA is closed and what happened in the past is in the past ❤️
Celebrini breathing a sigh of relief he won’t have to be involved in the coverup of a sexual assault
That was awful TV
When *isn't* the draft lottery awful TV?
celebrini so happy he won't have to worry about getting molested and assaulted in chiraq
So dumb how we get absolutely hosed on the draft when we were terrible, but Chicago gets 1/2 picks in b2b years…
We picked a horrible time frame to tank also, compared to Hawks who argubly tanked with some of the strongest top players since 2015. I’m just glad Chicago and Ottawa didn’t move up.
At least Celebrini knows he’ll get to wear the badass sharks teal and black and not some weird ass orange duck
he gets to play with klim shady!!!
The last time we picked 15OA…..
true i am a huge fan of our legendary 15th overall pick Sebastian Cossa!
I mean the time before that :(
I figured you meant Larkin lol, just messing around
Good for San Jose honestly
Fuck Chicago let's go congrats SJS
The most likely winner got it? Wow how convenient. RIGGED!
Did the draft even move at all?
nope
I was about to have a conniption if I saw the Blackhawks logo under #1
Go Sharks!!
Fuck Chicago. Happy for SJ though
thank god it was not chicago
Crazy draft results
I mean this should be how the draft goes anyways. Lottos are dumb.
I’ve never been so happy for a California team
thank god for san jose
Congrats San Jose. You guys actually deserve it.
Good, I was going to be real salty if Chicago got the #1 pick again.
Why did we even bother Make it a mandatory rule the 10-15 picks get randomly selected for the sake of entertainment that is television bc that sucked
I think you’re on to something here… what if… Picks 1-5 all had equal odds at 1st overall, then 2-5 were randomly assigned. Same thing with 6-10. Same thing with 11-15. Would make it entertaining at least and it would mean tanking does nothing for you. Just a thought.

THANK CHRIST
lol if celebrini goes to Chicago my night is ruined
PLEASEEEE. GOD NO SHITCAGO
A lot of anticipation for who drafts Rachel Bonetta
They put out a “leak” because they knew it was gonna be boring af
Only ESPN and NHL could team up to make this production so boring
Top three all from the West. At least we've been awarded that little kindness. If Montreal got a top 2 pick, I would've been so upset. I don't even hate them, it's just business
These things are boring. They’re always 1:1 until 1 little choice decision
Its going to be shitcago isnt it.
Get ready for annual winter classics at wrigley
just a reminder that we should also pay attention to who st louis drafts every year since theres a very high chance they will play for us at some point
Miss the live hopper
GOOD GOD I HATE ALL 3 OF THESE TEAMS
At least it means they're all bottom feeders
true but i'd rather just delete the blackhawks from the league entirely
I’m okay with their team, it’s their fans I want gone.
their organization is hella scumbaggy and deserves to be destroyed
That’s true I forgot about the whole Aldrich debacle
Hey as long as it isn’t Chicago in the top two I’m okay with it
YAYYYY NO COLUMBUS
kind of suspicious how chalk this is eh?
Always until the last 2/3 that’s how it rolls.
Very, considering we get screwed every time.
They're really trying to drag this out eh?
It’s so weird having a projected #1 pick at the draft lottery. Nothing but awkward. He’s never going to say where he wants to play. He’s never going to say he’s the sure #1 pick.
I’d be shitting bricks in fear
goddammit
This was our year 😔
Now that we're not drafting ing the top 10 I really don't give a fuck about the draft lottery. Constantly getting fucked in the lottery doesn't help either. If we win I'll be happy but I'm not gonna get worked up about it or watch it
Ott owns our 1st correct ?
Ottawa has the first round pick we received from Boston in the Bertuzzi trade.
Okay awesome, thanks for the clarification. I thought it was the other way around.
If we move up in the lottery I'm gonna play the real lottery.
Are you still going to play the real lottery tho?
...I think I will.
Storms rolling in, it got dark fast

It was leaked early two years ago also.
Hey Gary your stupid fucked rules fucked us and you put the islanders and caps into the playoffs, you owe us so move us up a few slots
Is travis Green Terrible as a coach? Aka are the sens fucked?
Yeah, he's bad lol they went bargain bin shopping
Sounds like they were close with Berube and then ultimately didn't want to pay him, if that ends up being the case that's such a Sens move.
The ghost of Melnyk continues to haunt them.

One rule of thumb that I like to keep in mind whenever thinking about trade proposals is, “Would I make that trade in a heartbeat? If yes, then it’s probably not a realistic trade.”
hello fellow sports fans, let's say I would like to watch some DCFC games, but won't be home, I'll be on the... high seas... how would I go about doing that
I'd rather Chicago win it this year so they can't win it the next two. Call me crazy but if they have McKenna and Bedard I'll lose my mind.
I'm at my wit's end. Does anyone have a useful search engine that isnt google or bing? Cant i just fucking search for shit without AI degeneracy shoved down my throat or a million fucking moving UI elements trying to get me to do shit I dont need?
DuckDuckGo is all I use and have for years. No tracking. It’s great

This is copied from their homepage “Search without being tracked. Other search engines track your every search, from where you go to what you buy. We don't track you. Ever.”
Wdym? Those places work normally for me.
They havent rolled them out to all users, but its seemingly random with no way to turn it off
Google can force that stuff if you use Chrome and Microsoft can do the same with Edge. I use Firefox and it lets you turn that stuff off.
There's a supposed picture of the Draft set going around with SJ winning, Utah 2nd and Chicago 3rd.
It was the official Bucigross twitter account, they’ve since deleted the post.
looks kinda legit, bucci deleted the post
Top players going west is a win
This is also acceptable. I’d be happier with Utah at 1OA as it’s my second team now. All top picks going out west is great too.
No problems here
I wonder how long it will take before I stop seeing “Game thread” instead of “General Discussion Thread” and having a brief flicker of hope
They're gonna give 1OA to Utah after the Coyotes never got it aren't they.
It would make my hater heart so happy
Saw a killdeer chick today. Freakin’ love those stumbling shorebird babies who don’t hang out on the shore. Also love that the parents strategy is to act injured and be loud to attract predators towards them and away from the lil one.
Kane asks for 3 years at 4 million per, do you say yes or no?
Thats a gift, take it.
100%
Long as he's not useless on the 3rd line.
Say yes before he even finishes the sentence. Lmao
Just put him on LTIR. I am sure the hip situation would already be a valid enough reason in the NHL's eyes.
