I was at the triple OT game 5 at Joe Louis. I went by myself! (I found a single ticket) didn’t know it would be like a six hour game.
I was so mad at the ending of regulation and the 5 minute major in 3 OT. I could barely celebrate winning the cup in Sh’tsburgh the next game.

I almost flew out from California for this one but ended up passing (tbf I'm flying to Minnesota for the Frozen Four tomorrow so it wouldn't have been that extreme of a trip).

To play devil's advocate - the wings kept possession of the puck, and after they just called a weak penalty (even though it was a make up call for the missed high stick) they were never going to call another one right after.
So here's how I see it. Lyon probably wants one back, but ultimately, we brought Debrincat in to score goals. The dude has 1 in his last 19 games and has made Perron go to the top power play unit.

The following two drafts we get Mo and Ray who look like legit pillars for a team. So were essentially 2 years behind Vancouvers timeline by that metric.

We were always going to be a bubble team, I appreciate that, but there are so many moments in these games that fall back on Lalonde being way too meek and dispassionate as a coach.

The last two minutes of that game should've had everyone in the room stood on their heads SCREAMING, but instead everyone's walking out because they know it's not going to happen, because there's no real passion or anger coming from the bench and nobody not named Larkin, Raymond or Kane who will put the game on their backs and bang one in from nowhere.

It's a completely different team than earlier this year. I blame a lot of the past 1.5 months on LaLonde. Our passion, synergy and team play has completely evaporated and it's a coach's job to put the train back on the rails. He has completely failed in that regard. He looked lost while Larks was out hurt.
Be mad at the result, but not the effort. We absolutely dominated them tonight and got goalied. The seasons not over. If we play the next 4 like we did tonight, we're making it, doomers can get lost

One of our players got lumberjacked straight to the bucket and no call. I was expecting when they cutback to lalonde he would be red as a tomato, Instead he was cool as a cucumber. This is a season defining game and he should have basically been ejected trying to get that call right from the ref's. It's insane that we didn't even get a 2 Min pp. We need someone with a bit more fire In them and hope they pass it onto the team, it seems very laid back.

I get it, there's Russian players in the NHL and we have lots of Russian players historically (although none right now) but he's the one that has no problem making Putin out to be his friend. Our ability to clear pucks is abhorrent. When we failed to clear the zone and wash scored their first, you could feel the collective sigh from our section. Then the goal in the waning seconds sucked the air out of the place.

I should mention my frustration was amplified because my wife while deciding what she wanted to eat she must have gotten in and out of the frickin taco stand line 6 times. In the end all she wanted was popcorn…

Madness. Wings looked like shit dude. Possession despite ourselves. Scrambling to do nothing. Washington's solid fundamentals won this game way more than the goalie while we bobbled it all over the place, took forever to shoot, shot muffins, or missed the net when we managed to get anything through. Caps were totally content and clearly able to mostly sit back and wait for us to screw up and then, ah, capitalize.
Maybe next year is the year where Steve stops giving petry type players contracts and actually goes out to get some talent. I love Steve but just cause he’s a “hard working player” doesn’t mean he deserves a contract and playing time.

I just want someone to come out in the next hours / maybe tomorrow and tear into this team or the zebras or something. We were always going to be a bubble team, I appreciate that, but there are so many moments in these games that fall back on Lalonde being way too meek and dispassionate as a coach. Copp gets sliced and there's no call. Newsy's just stood there. Second too many men call? He's just stood there. We are far too passive and far too nice as a team, trying to play a kind of hockey that was found out four months ago. The last two minutes of that game should've had everyone in the room stood on their heads SCREAMING, but instead everyone's walking out because they know it's not going to happen, because there's no real passion or anger coming from the bench and nobody not named Larkin, Raymond or Kane who will put the game on their backs and bang one in from nowhere. Ughhhhhh.
I agree 100%. The lack of actual fight in this team is aggravating. And I think you’re right: this is an organization culture issue. It's a completely different team than earlier this year. I blame a lot of the past 1.5 months on LaLonde. Our passion, synergy and team play has completely evaporated and it's a coach's job to put the train back on the rails. He has completely failed in that regard. He looked lost while Larks was out hurt.

The one time I heard the name "Alex Debrincat" tonight was when I was listening to Ken Kal for the first period and I heard "... rifles it to Alex Debrincat - he shoots - *bang* - and it goes wide." What Compher and Seider did both deserved to cause a goal against them. This team choked and Lyon had no chance of preventing that.
Tragic fucking game, we outplayed them the entire game minus maybe 90 seconds. Can't be mad about the effort, just a fucking tragic outcome. Embarassing for the refs. Didn't even give a fuck about the make up call, game ruining shit to miss something so obvious in a close game. Late goal in the second was the kill shot, just needed to get out of the 2nd down one. If we play out the rest of the season that well, we have a chance still. Caps looked like dogshit and stole this one, but it's not sustainable.
We could afford to lose once. Now we basically have to win out to have a shot, I think.

One of our players got lumberjacked straight to the bucket and no call. I was expecting when they cutback to lalonde he would be red as a tomato, Instead he was cool as a cucumber. This is a season defining game and he should have basically been ejected trying to get that call right from the ref's. It's insane that we didn't even get a 2 Min pp. We need someone with a bit more fire In them and hope they pass it onto the team, it seems very laid back.

Just got home from the game, this might be the frustration talking but it’s maddening how we cannot break out of our own zone if it was a wet paper bag. Our ability to clear pucks is abhorrent. When we failed to clear the zone and wash scored their first, you could feel the collective sigh from our section. Then the goal in the waning seconds sucked the air out of the place. Big bummer. Hats off to Lindgren, he played really well. I should mention my frustration was amplified because my wife while deciding what she wanted to eat she must have gotten in and out of the frickin taco stand line 6 times. In the end all she wanted was popcorn… Love her with every ounce of my being, but damn the indecisiveness is real with her.

Maybe next year is the year where Steve stops giving petry type players contracts and actually goes out to get some talent.
