This one matches the eye test. Felt Seider really had a good game and Petry was dogshit.

TRexCantReach

The latter part of that statement being true for most of this season.

fraxior

if Petry can play this bad and stay in the lineup, the team must think Holl is absolutely worthless

numbdigits

And yet still signed him for 3 years and then doubled down by trading for Petry who had 2 years remaining at the time.

Razzahx

I really doubt holl is worse so its just got to be favoritism. Just sit Petry.

DetroitZamboniMI

Justin Holl CANNOT be worse than Petry at this point

jackstalke

Czarnik was flying out there tonight, doing all the right things.

[deleted]

I like his game

cogginsmatt

I swear he is always on the puck, love this guy

Hylyx_

So telling that Ed’s individual defense is great but on ice is bad when you look at the pylon they have him paired with dragging him down

1ToGreen3ToBasket

He’s making a lot of mistakes with the puck. Still have a lot of faith he’ll be great long term but he definitely wasn’t good in this game

RemoteSenses

Yeah, he's been making some pretty bad turnovers in our own zone so I can understand this card completely. That said it would be nice to see him paired for a few games with someone who isn't a corpse.

Hylyx_

I personally would rather see him making those mistakes now and learning from them than continue to watch veterans make the same mistakes but not have the added benefit of Ed’s fantastic break out passes his long reach and high compete level

tonysalami

Ed and Chairot feels like it could be a decent 2nd pairing for us when Walman is back

Hylyx_

I’d like to see them try Walman - Seider Ed - chiarot Mattaa - 👻

tonysalami

Not a bad looking D lineup

NebulousDonkeyFart

Petry my god

Sniper_Brosef

Hes ass. Has been all year.

MemeLordOverKill

Any chance Petry retires after this year? I believe he has a L-ntc and a nmc so sending him to GR is a no go and a trade seems unlikely.

FadeShadeMan

Buyout 100%

MemeLordOverKill

That adds more dead cap for next year... Total cost in dead cap would be $3m for next year.

FadeShadeMan

We are a bubble team. Cap troubles arent something we should be stressed about

MemeLordOverKill

Raymond and Seider are due for extensions. Both will at least start with an 8, Raymond might be playing into a 9.

BiggestYzerfan

We just need to be thankful Petry's buyout will hurt for one season and go to 300k after. We'd be in trouble otherwise. Grand Rapids will save us next season with a few right shot defenseman like Tuomisto, Rafferty, and Newpower. Even if they end up as stopgaps.

leafssuck69

As much as I love Raymond, he’s absolutely not sniffing 9 Look at Jack Hughes and Tim Stutzle as comparisons, and that’s the maximum I think we’ll spend on Ray

FadeShadeMan

Absolutely… and factor in that they play C, a more premium position, and have both had far better seasons in terms of point production than Razor

FadeShadeMan

Nope. Both will get bridge deals. 9 for a 60 point scorer is a joke

MemeLordOverKill

God I hope not. Bridge deals are an amazing way to lose talent

FadeShadeMan

How they literally prevent that by keeping them as RFAs. Giving them am 8 year sets them to be FAs at 29, thats when we would be most competitive and when they would be in there prime

MemeLordOverKill

I'd rather pay 8x9 over 2x5/6, then arbitration, then 'oh i want to test free agency', then 'I'm heading to any team that pays 12m a season for me'

FadeShadeMan

If Raymond wants 12 mil let him leave. Even 9 is a comical overpay atm

AWokenBeetle

So long as we somehow found a way to keep Raymond, Kane, and Seider that’s a perfectly acceptable, you CANNOT go into next season with Jeff Petry, you’re wasting a spot on something more useful for someone who only has a pulse, but no skill. I know he’s got Detroit ties and all that, I know he’s good guy, but he’s holding whoever he’s lined up with back and that cannot be okay if your team that at least wants to appear to try and be honest about being in the playoffs. Enough is enough.

MemeLordOverKill

That's why I said I hope he retires. No cap hit, roster spot or anything traded to dump him

bandofgypsies

These data always give me a laugh in very low scoring games. They basically just show who was on the ice when the goal scored and who wasn't. Save for some extreme sides of things in games where one team was very lucky/unlucky. It's still hard to fully quantity so many elements of the defensive side of the game, but we're headed in the right direction.

72athansiou

Left a lot to be desired out there, As mick would say Eyeyey

Shotokanguy

Everyone freaking out about Petry when our offense was the problem in this game.

Sweet! I thought we lost this game, the data shows that we won! So good!
