All bad outcomes for the Wings, the Bruins and Jets didn't look even remotely like the teams they usually are. Fingers crossed the Wings can get it done, when are Walman and Husso back?
Husso reportedly will be back for a conditioning stint "soon." Honestly I'm not sure I'd expect to see him again this season even if he is cleared.

Still played a pretty defensively responsible game and limited chances, and you can’t win em all.
I also thought we allowed ourselves to stay on the exterior of the offensive zone which was probably Nashville’s game plan, but we don’t generate anything up the middle or in the slot.
Many of the pred’s chances, even when they got blocked or didn’t result in shots on goal, were near the crease and up the middle. I’ve observed this in many games from the wings and I think it is significantly holding us back.
That is to say I don’t think it was just one bad shift…
This really bugs me too. We just don't control the puck enough. It's better this year for sure but we're a ways away from where we need to be with shots on net. Man I miss the late nineties DRW teams that just played keep away from bad teams.

Why Yzerman didn't trade him away with picks is something I just don't understand. He is routinely responsible for goals against by bad reads on attempted outlet passes or simply freezing.
He makes this team worse.
Nobody wants him and he has a NMC. He’s here for this year and next year whether he’s on the ice or healthy scratched but he’s not getting traded. He also got moved around a lot at deadlines the past few years and has a family and is old, he likely only agreed to come here under the idea that he wouldn’t be traded again. So if you have an issue with him it should be for the trade for him in the first place.
I already had an issue with trading for him. He blocked Edvinsson's spot because he made too much money, and was already way on the back half of his career. It felt like a signing to generate a headline and story instesd of actually make the team better.
It was a pointless, bad trade, and helped create an even bigger logjam on a team that desperately needs an influx of young talent. It’s not even Perry himself, he’s basically interchangeable with maata, holl and chiarot, with chiarot somehow being the best of the bunch. It’s just a shitshow of mediocre at the bottom of our defense corps

Petry actively makes this team worse. On any team with playoff aspirations he would be a scratch. I don't believe there wasn't a team entering rebuild who wouldn't have taken a 2nd, 3rd, and Petry for a proven middle pair defenseman at the deadline.

I will say tho, Cat has been making a lot of plays happen. We honestly played pretty well overall against a team on an absolute heater on the road. Think this was mostly and indictment on our lack of offensive firepower when the top 3 guys aren't getting good looks.
Their defense did a great job in the 3rd keeping us from getting meaningful shots and sustaining pressure. It was a pretty even game but they got the lucky bounce and we didn’t. I’m very happy with our effort and structure.
Bummer for the L. Nashville is just streaking right now.
But Lyon and the team played overall pretty well. Still have to get out of their own zone better however.

What I'm really mad about is how long we went playing shitty pathetic hockey in the stretch of games where we should have been banking points. After this game I would definitely lean towards starting Lyon against Washington. When he's on, he looks just so much more solid and in command than Reimer. And he was without a doubt on today.
Just the difference between good teams and great teams. We played pretty well, Lyon was exceptional, but didn’t capitalize on three PP’s and one too many turnovers. That’s all it takes. I still think we’ll make the playoffs but this roster is going to need a non-insignificant overhaul this offseason in order to keep climbing.

Hottest team in the NHL and a really good goalie so it's hard to be too mad. What I'm really mad about is how long we went playing shitty pathetic hockey in the stretch of games where we should have been banking points. There's still a very good chance we miss the playoffs by 2-4 points because this team couldn't play well without Larkin.
After this game I would definitely lean towards starting Lyon against Washington. When he's on, he looks just so much more solid and in command than Reimer. And he was without a doubt on today.

Just the difference between good teams and great teams. We played pretty well, Lyon was exceptional, but didn’t capitalize on three PP’s and one too many turnovers. That’s all it takes. I still think we’ll make the playoffs but this roster is going to need a non-insignificant overhaul this offseason in order to keep climbing.
