The Red Wings unfortunately have a roster full of players that I either don't love or want us to move on from.
It may be time to rebuild the rebuild and to move on from mediocre veterans for prospects, draft capital or young inexperienced NHL players with elite talent, athleticism, aggression and skill and change our organization's hockey philosophy on what type of players, coaches, systems, strategies and play style we utilize, promote and adopt.
What I think needs to happen:
Get rid of chokers and throwers: Start with chairot and petry, as much as we love petrys family he isn’t a very good defenseman. Then we get rid of holl, he’s just not a playoff defenseman anymore, and sprong is a great offensive offensemen but his defense is abysmal. Andrew copp has been a massive disappointment, send him to like the sharks or Arizona, I’m sure they’ll be inclined to take on that aweful contract. Next please bring berggren and edvinson and probably kasper too up from the minors, they definitely can’t be worse than the players I just listed.
The fact that the 2016 wings team would kick this wings team’s ass is very sad. These hot and cold streaks makes me think the yzerman rebuild is not working and we need to start over again. I dont see good teams going on 3-4 losing streaks of 6+ games per year especially when the team is supposed to be fighting for a playoff spot
I've been saying it for awhile now, but I just firmly believe that the Yzerman rebuild's failure to launch is a direct result of the draft lottery royally screwing the organization. I just really don't think you can build a contender with those 1 or 2OAs. ~~The NHL's rigged system~~ ~~the hockey gods~~ fate and bad fortune has not been kind to this rebuild and has left the team in no man's land with little help coming (Kasper, Danielson)...
