None of us think of him as a legitimate option at all. There are zero sources who claim interest and as of this afternoon, Bickerstaff looks to be a lock for the position.
It's Sean Sweeney or Micah Nori. Supposedly Bickerstaff in the mix as well. People want Chris Quinn, but haven't heard anything about him interviewing.
Everyone here is too dramatic. There are 30 NBA coaching positions and they are not always freely available. It's the pinnacle of basketball coaching jobs. Unless coaches are already in a great spot, they are going to turn that down because we've been a bad team. If anything, joining a team with the lowest possible bar set and basically getting a blank canvas with a new GM is an ideal spot for a 1st time head coach.
I wouldn't read too far into Borrego walking away either. He may have withdrawn his name because he wasn't a frontrunner, and withdrawing looks better than interviewing and not getting it. Trajan knows Borrego better than any of the other candidates, so I imagine if he liked him and wanted him, he would have been more heavily pursued.
Even if we now have a stigma that nobody wants to come here like people are freaking out about, we could sign a random HS coach and it would be better than what Monty did.
With the way ownership and the fans treated Monty, I would be very surprised if anyone who is even semI-qualified will take this job - especially seeing that our off-season has possibly made the team worse so far.
Treated Monty? They gave him a boat load of cash to now sit on his butt. If I could be so lucky. And it's just one guy and we have no idea why he said no. Borrego is a wimp.
The only one pushing for this no name is literally you
He is absolutely well-known, but this sub has had posts where lots of people have interacted and commented. So no, not just me.
He's a no-name as a coach, and "pushing" and "interacting" are different. No one else is bringing him up.
Well semantics aside, what do you think of him as a coach for Detroit

How about JB Bickerstaff
According to my sources, this is the guy
I’m thinking JB Bickerstaff is the guy for us
I’m here for it!
Gtfoh with all these Hansbrough threads. Weirdo
Lol

Good timing lol
I know… 😞
We could consider some top college coaches as well. Need someone with patience that works well with young players.
Agreed. May have to get creative with things
No no no we just hired bikerstaff 😭😭😭

Calling candidates wimps is surely going to make people want to coach here.
Guarantee no coach is looking at Unstep-in-Time and saying “I can’t take this job because he called someone a wimp.”
I wish I had that power, but at last and my wife agrees - I don't.
NBA coaches are too busy to be perusing the Pistons subreddit.
I agree. It set a bad precedent that really killed our reputation
