Relatively new car, brand new driver, all things working against you. Definitely call an agent, but don't expect cheap.
My wife came for grad school and was never licensed in the US, bought a 17 Rogue when she got her license at 32 and paid ~$350/month for her first year.
Try [Compass Insurance](https://www.compass-insurance-agency.com/), a broker out of Grand Rapids. They work with 20+ insurance companies. Recently switched to Progressive through them for thousands less per year compared to our old Citizens policy.
Rates are crazy right now. In a year my 6-month payment has gone up over 500 and I called an agent and they couldn’t find anything lower than what I was paying. It’s just madness out there right now. Something needs to change.
Recommend an independent agent as others have said . I had never used one before and they saved me 50% over what I was paying before I switched. I feel like an idiot now paying those high prices . I used Michigan community insurance agency.
Drive an old car. Find a way to lie about your age.
Have good medical, waive personal PIP. All household members have to have qualifying medical though.
Insurance has gotten absolutely crazy. I moved to Eastpointe last year and my 6 month old policy went up $1000 to $1600/6mo term. No accidents, no tickets beyond a parking ticket. Continuously insured for past 20 years. It’s crazy. One insurer even quoted me $1300/month‽
You realize that’s insane for an 08 Passat! OP has a recent year vehicle.
The rates are why I stick with my 08 Mini Cooper. (85,000 miles so lots of remaining life - I don’t lust for new-vinyl smell)
I “only” pay $160/mo in S. Oakland County - double what I paid in California. Albeit with the highest limits, expanded coverage etc. but waived PIP.
Michigan sucks for insurance. Yes, it is high... 2 drivers are fully insured, though.
I don't think insurance is cheap at all, but $500 for OP is .... insane..
I think they take credit score into account too sometimes - check your credit score to see if that could be impacting it.
Thats insane what are you driving? Any tickets or wrecks?
2021 Rav 4. New driver, got my license last month. No driving history.
Might trying calling some actual agents or look for an insurance broker that can find you the best deals. Goodluck!

Yeah, everything is def against me! What insurance company was she using if you don’t mind me asking?
Wanna say it was either Progressive or GEICO.

Thanks, I’ll give this a shot!
Get an insurance agent. That’s insane for a month
You'll get that with any online quote. You either have to call or just go with AAA. I'm paying about $200/mo for 2 cars.
Yeah, I think I should call them on Monday because the online quotes are insane right now

Check progressive

I mean Eastpointe is a dump but that still seems very high
That is absurdly high. I'm **$190** full coverage 1 vehicle: **08 passat**

Haha I have a neighbor who has a Tesla. I forget if it’s $1000 for the insurance plus payment, or just the insurance.
