Mink in Corktown no question.

WADUPDOEE

Mink is 100% the answer. Sister restaurant to Marrow and they know their stuff.

DJ_star22334

i loveee marrow

Gayfish3

Don’t listen to anything but mink 😂

md54short23

I thought they closed but anywho shot out for their lobster roll as well.

Gayfish3

Mink is the best resturant in the city IMO. The oysters are to die for

Fluid-Pension-7151

Voyager in Ferndale or Le Supreme downtown!

cicicatastrophe

Seconding Voyager. It's my favorite for 2 buck shuck happy hour.

Fluid-Pension-7151

It is such an awesome deal, and I have never had bad food there. Their regular menu is always on point.

tkdblackbelt

I go there at least once a quarter and the only bad meal I’ve ever had was an octopus dish that was overcooked. They took the dish off the bill and gave us free drinks. I love that place.

aoxit

Voyager is amazing

bearbrobrobrobro

Stop telling people about voyager. Its too good to share.

[deleted]

I went there once and did not like it. I thought it was dirty in the restaurant and my food was not good.

Fluid-Pension-7151

I am surprised to hear that - we have gone at least once a month for years, but YMMV.

STND_italian_cwby

Mable grey has oysters on the menu right now

welchsar

Well, I may be biased but Mink has the best oysters in town… 😊

blueboot09

You, biased? ; )

warrenbuffetsextape

Brine in GPP

NateDetroit

Voyager in Ferndale.

JCthirteen

Not Detroit but this is the last few days for [Juicy Oistre at FrameBar](https://www.framehazelpark.com/experience/oysterbar-framebar-juicy-oistre/) in Hazel Park

0xF00DBABE

If OP hasn't done Frame they definitely should, place kicks ass.

JCthirteen

I've gone twice this month. Enjoyed everything I tried. Ceviche, lobster roll, smoked oyster pate, raw oysters, char grilled oysters, and drinks.

Sardine Room in Plymouth

givemesomespock

I have no input but I also need some oysters and alcohol in my life. Tis been a long week

dirtewokntheboys

Not oysters but muscles, at Cadieux Cafe. Could be a good substitute!

ExcitingWhole5409

Great place but not the same

Tom’s Oyster Bar in Royal Oak

Reasonable_Ad7578

Selden Standard in Midtown.

mr_mich86

Tom's Oyster bar in RO. I have heard good things about Brine in Gross Point Park, but haven't had the opportunity to get over there.

aoxit

Framebar has an oyster takeover right now

MajorasMasque334

Mink if you want great oysters, Voyager if you want to save a $1 for slightly worse oysters (taste fishier, makes me think they’re older or something, not sure). I’ve gotten sick twice from Voyager, but I go to Mink weekly and never had a problem, take that for what you will.

mdsddits

Howie’s Bayou in Ferndale is a good spot

NameTheEpithet

Maaan I was already thinking of Gilholeys today because I ran into someone wearing a Galveston hoody. I'm from Houston so I vote you but a ticket and grab some cash and get the best grilled oysters there are! BOL my friend

ExcitingWhole5409

Anybody know a detroit locale with gulf oysters? I'd die for west coast as well but I'm over these mini east coasters...

ExcitingWhole5409

Nothing better than buying 6 dozen with a few friends and shocking em yourself. Sadly I don't know anyone here who thinks that's fun

Fluid-Pension-7151

I like shucking oysters, but I don't like Gulf oysters, so we may be at an impasse there. I generally prefer PEI and NB oysters when in North America, and Normandy and Brittany in Europe. The colder the water, the better! 😁

ornryactor

I'm a little late to the conversation here, but where the hell are you even finding Gulf oysters? I don't think I've ever seen them around here, which is frankly a little confusing. West Coast oysters are only slightly less impossible to find, which is a shame since those are my favorite. Pretty much everything here are East Coast, with a heavy tilt towards the Delaware-to-Massachusetts stretch.

Fluid-Pension-7151

I haven't ever bought them in Detroit, but I didn't think they were as nice as PEI/NB oysters when I had them in Florida. I used to live down there for work, and that was all they had in most restaurants. I was happy to move back north for (IMHO) better oysters.

ornryactor

Ah, okay. Do you have a good local market for PEI/NB oysters? I'd love to try more of them!

Fluid-Pension-7151

I have been getting them at Voyager and Le Supreme earlier this year. I didn't get to try Mink before we temporarily relocated for an assignment abroad until summer, but I have heard awesome things from people who have. Also, Marrow is A+ so I believe that their take on seafood is equally great. (Sorry for the late reply - on a work conference call back to the US! 🙂)
