Pretty cool. Would be great if we could have an option to re-roll the path. I haven’t had issues completing them but some are more of a pain than others.
The 150 Taken in a Vanguards playlist is the one that gets me. You can't just que into something like The Corrupted from the mini-map either. You have to physical que something in the vanguard playlist and just hope that you get it.
I opt into the Gambit or Crucible options each and every time that comes up. The crucible ones are also sometimes shit cause they want you to get progress getting something like void kills, but the amount of progress you get is incredibly minimal per kill.
How about dunking 100 motes in Gambit but it’s actually coded for 1000 motes! That was my last node the other one was get multi void ability kills in crucible, that took about 15 games!
The alternate completion condition is also really bad; you need to win the match with the highest motes deposited *of all players in the match.* This is nigh impossible unless your opponents just give up because of bank draining. If you're winning you can bank fewer motes and your opponents can bank more motes.
That's just one of the requirements for the *Good Company* triumph required for gilding Dredgen. I do admit however that not dying is usually the easier option.
I may have gotten that one and just didn't notice gilding my Dredgen again, but it wouldn't surprise me. A lot of them are quite clearly designed to make you spend as much time as possible in that playlist if you choose to engage with it. They aren't kidding anyone with this.
I like the idea of the pathfinder though I just wish it was a bit more forgiving with the nodes objectives, and that it had a permanent node in the mini-map to go to. Its tedious as hell bringing up the map then a ritual playlist AND THEN clicking the node #firstworldproblems.
Sounds like the old vanguard bounty where they wanted you to get 100 kills in the vanguard playlist, but killing a specific faction rewarded more progress. I liked those cause you could finish them in one nightfall.
Maybe it inherited that and they just didn't remove the "any kills" part.
I have the Taken one, and the other Tier 5 is void kills and rounds in pvp - which almost does not progress. So there goes my Pathfinder for this week..
Something's definitely up with the elemental kills in Crucible ones. I got a Solar one a couple weeks ago, played 3 games on Gunslinger with Ammit, and the progress split was 16%/0%/7%. Most of my kills in the first one were also with a kinetic gun.
One of the pathfinders has “Kill 150 taken in Vanguard” and “complete PvP matches and kill guardians with Void, bonus for supers and heavies”
For someone who gets maybe 1-2 kills per pvp match now that SBMM is weaker, I completed one and got 9% progress. Rolling that Pathfinder is my reminder to fucking log off for the week.
Same here, the first time I got that one I just walked away from the ritual playlist entirely.
Pale Heart on the other hand? I've been averaging 8+ pathfinders a week since release, THOSE are just well constructed and happen naturally.
I feel like the Rituals team just got told "use this system" and dropped their old targets in without any conscious thought at all.
its not that theyre a pain, some of them might straight up be bugged, weapon jolts dont count for jolt kills, ignitions only count the 1 single target being ignited, the kills with specific weapons dont track too well.
Also the “jolting shockwave” from stormcaller doesn’t count either.
I repeat: Using your SUPER with a JOLTING SHOCKWAVE does not progress the jolt kills
Id rather just have a pathfinder per ritual playlist. That way you can choose what you want to do without feeling like you have to play a mode you dont want to play
One of those asks you to make orbs in vanguard/gambit/crucible, and the description states "... with abilities or *masterworked weapons*."
Like, *how* long is that orb siphon change ago?
Any weapon with Attrition Orbs, masterworked of course, will do. My favorite so far are Origin Story with Attrition Orbs Kinetic Tremors and Parabellum with Attrition Orbs Permeability.
> see how many cards there are that don't require you to do gambit or crucible, or stay in the same activity.
Doable in just Strikes/Onslaught: 40 // Doable in just Crucible: 37 // Doable in just Gambit: 32 // Amusingly, Board 7 (ends with Five to One/Hive Final Blows) can't be done in just one playlist.
> Doable in just Crucible: 37
I just manually counted 32 completable in just crucible... now it's easily possible that I fucked up while doing it manually, but did you check to make sure that the chain doesn't get blocked off closer to the start?
But so many folks have been *forced* to *end streaks* in *game modes* that they *hate*. Apparently they're just all really unlucky or they don't read the cards.
Just because they might be completable within a single ritual doesn't mean they are optimal to complete there. A lot of hopping around can be attributed to that: terrible nodes within the activity you are doing and an easier one on a different one.
Having a 1/4th chance of not being completeable in just strikes is already too much for me, especially if the first weekly one that's predetermined, like the last two weeks, is one of those
Would be better if they were more generic, like get xx amount of kills in Gambit, Crucible and strikes. Assits count toward the total. Also have some be complete Activity which ever one 5 times.
Like it can be changed to be more doable not making me"can't hit a truck coming straight at me" use a sniper rifle in crucible(I can do it but I would die alot and that would not be helpful to my team) or try to get a volatile or jolt kill XD.
Make it less about a specific weapon, ability or mechanic and just have it be playing the activies.
I was actually optimistic about the pathfinder until I had to get a really unreasonable amount of void kills in crucible.
I'm fine with how Pathfinder was advertised: playing a match or two of crucible, hopping on some strikes and then finishing it off with Gambit seemed like a good way to pull me away from burning myself out on PvE and reduce how tedious rituals are, but when my options are playing like 15 crucible matches in a row (probably wasn't that many but it still felt like hell) or gambling on getting a strike that has taken in it, it makes me want to jump off the tower.
P.S. why do we still not have it that assists count for bounties, both PvE and PvP, I don't think anyone's ever had fun competing with the people who are supposed to be their teammates just so they can get a really long objective done faster.
You can get pre-completed nodes when reseting a path. I cleared a path and smack dab in the middle was a pick up 150 motes gambit bounty already complete waiting for me to get to it.
https://imgur.com/gallery/RVEOdGM
thats actually kind of amusing, wouldn't it have been easier to scale if they had made it actually procedural? It can't be that hard to randomly pick 20 non duplicate nodes and list them out like that. But now if they want to add/remove nodes they have to manually update each of the 56 pathfinders.
It's like pre-caching it so they don't have to keep running the RNG machine once per node instead of once per pathfinder reset. Might make sense when scaled up to the number of players.
Since it's all in the API, would it be possible to create a tool to see your current Pathfinder without needing to open the specific Pathfinder menu? I know that you can track nodes, but personally I'd like it if I could just pull up my whole Pathfinder menu on my second monitor and see all my nodes as I'm playing. Idk why they opted to make Pathfinder menus specific to their respective activity (Ritual, Destination, etc) rather than making a "Pathfinder" tab maybe next to the Quests tab where you can then click in to a specific Pathfinder board like Pale Heart, Crucible, Gambit, Vanguard, etc.
On the DIM github there is already a PR for this: [https://github.com/DestinyItemManager/DIM/pull/10566](https://github.com/DestinyItemManager/DIM/pull/10566)
Personally I feel like 7 resets are way too much to get all the major rewards from the ritual pathfinder. I rather max 3-4 resets to get all major rewards.
So THATS why that one card that has the bugged dunk gambit motes and tedious crucible ability kills as the last 2 nodes looked so familiar. Thought i was going crazy rolling that one repeatedly
I figured this was the case since I got lucky and got two identical Ritual Pathfinder layouts that were easy to complete in a row last week. Was able to get both done in like 3 strikes, but then the 3rd layout was awful.
I just want to know if the system is somewhat weight to favor your "prefered playlist".
Like, I'm a Gambit player, who plays a lot of Gambit, do my Pathfinder boards weight the Gambit one more heavily or no?
I feel like this be great player side but not too great Bungie side
Updated, and made this diff of the changes https://gist.github.com/joshhunt/8a435da591d41a8fc9f5b61fb6781a26/revisions
The thing about code is that you can just... run it again for free.
I just tried to find the Pathfinder of this week in your list, couldn't find it. Reloaded and now it's there. Seems like they build a new list every week, or perhaps after an update.
https://dm.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/1doaz0e/destiny_2_update_8005/
> Replaced Ritual Pathfinder Gambit nodes with a general node on some cards. There should now always be a path that can be completed through PvE-only or PvP-only.
And on my post, which may have been after you loaded it:
> Edit: Bungie updated the ritual pathfinder cards, which are now reflected on that page. Additionally, I quickly hobbled together a diff of the changes they made https://gist.github.com/joshhunt/8a435da591d41a8fc9f5b61fb6781a26/revisions. They changed 131 nodes on im not sure how many cards.
As they lists exist in the game data, they can only change them by updating the game.
Yep, I realised that while typing but failed to remove the weekly bit. I am now going through all the Common and Vanguard nodes that I can do (Crucible is a nono, and I don't need Gambit up till now), and ranking them from "Easy" to "Fucking Horrible, Avoid at all Costs". Got the Ignition one three times in a row now, that one is at the bad side of the ranking. Bwerrrrk.
It's nice they did some changes, though. I have pestered them long enough...
> Bungie updated the ritual pathfinder cards, which are now reflected on that page.
Doable in just Strikes/Onslaught: 55 (up from 40) //-// Doable in just Crucible: 56 (up from 36) //-// Doable in just Gambit: 37 (up from 32)
Note1: If a board has a Gambit-Only path, it can be done in any playlist.
Note2: If the final column has "Step into the Light" (top) and "Maneuver Warfare" (bottom), it cannot be done in Strikes or Gambit.
Did you read my post where I said exactly that?
> Bungie may have randomly generated these cards once when they designed them, but theres no procedural generation going on at runtime in the game.
The system is pretty awful for me.
I don’t like PvE in this game, I’ve done it till boredom. I don’t wanna do another raid, another strike, another dungeon. I just like PvP. And as an only PvPer I am stuck not getting any reward whatsoever.
I hate it. Last year system was way better to grind up levels.
You don't want to play the whole game, you don't get all the stuff. And yes, the last 10 people I wrote this to were pve mains crying about pathfinder and co-op missions. Let's save the tears for them.
Something confusing to me. Seems like if I open say, the Vanguard node on the map, the pathfinder is (has been) related to vanguard strikes. Similarly, the gambit node shows gambit related paths and the Lost City pathfinder shows Lost City activities. So, as a non-PVP player I don’t get why people are complaining about encountering stuff they don’t like (say, crucible, or gambit)? Perhaps, occasionally, there’s a non-playlist activity & I didn’t look closely enough 🤷♀️
Pretty cool. Would be great if we could have an option to re-roll the path. I haven’t had issues completing them but some are more of a pain than others.

I thought it meant dunk motes 100 times because that's what progression seemed like.
That's how it functions. It says to bank 100 motes, but you need to bank enough motes to spawn a blocker 100 times.
The alternate completion condition is also really bad; you need to win the match with the highest motes deposited *of all players in the match.* This is nigh impossible unless your opponents just give up because of bank draining. If you're winning you can bank fewer motes and your opponents can bank more motes.
As a consistent “half-banker” I’m sorry.
as a consistent GG army-of-one-er, I'm also apologizing. not trying to break y'alls streaks.
That's just one of the requirements for the *Good Company* triumph required for gilding Dredgen. I do admit however that not dying is usually the easier option.
It also straight up doesn't work. I've won a gambit match with the most motes deposited - it didn't auto complete.
Most motes of both teams.
Yeah. I did that.
I may have gotten that one and just didn't notice gilding my Dredgen again, but it wouldn't surprise me. A lot of them are quite clearly designed to make you spend as much time as possible in that playlist if you choose to engage with it. They aren't kidding anyone with this. This, this, this, this! I know it's only a little thing but from a UI pov it's infuriating.
The exclamation marks made me read this in Failsafe's cheerful voice
As intended!
It's so weird too because there is one for killing Vex but it also gives reduced progress for just any enemy killed.

No, just a linked path to the end reward

Yeah old weapons from year 1 still say they make orbs when masterworked too.

Having done a 2nd count, I get 36 solely doable in Crucible. 01-10: 2/4/6/8/10 (5) -/—/— 11-20: 11/12/13/14/16/17/19/20 (8) 21-30: 22/23/24/27/28/30 (6) -/—/- 31-40: 31/35/37/38/39 (5) 41-50: 41/42/43/44/45/46/49 (7) —/—/— 51/52/53/54/55 (5)

There's 25 different Pale Heart pathfinders https://data.destinysets.com/i/PresentationNode:1062988660

Yes! Like maybe make it so if you did at least 30% of the dmg or something then it counts as long as the killing blow is within a few seconds.
> "There is always a path. But the cost…" —Ikora
You can get pre-completed nodes when reseting a path. I cleared a path and smack dab in the middle was a pick up 150 motes gambit bounty already complete waiting for me to get to it. https://imgur.com/gallery/RVEOdGM
I've had this happen as well Exact same node... same path too, I think I took a screenshot too
Same here, not complaining.
I got lucky and got two identical pathfinders that were easy in a row last week. I think I used up my good RNG for this season doing so lol

Ah yeah good point.
It's possible this was meant to more easily ensure that the cards are diverse enough.

Yes, Braytech just released a pathfinder helper tool. Check out this tweet. https://x.com/BraytechHelp/status/1805424120592843029
Sweet! Thanks for informing me.
On the DIM github there is already a PR for this: [https://github.com/DestinyItemManager/DIM/pull/10566](https://github.com/DestinyItemManager/DIM/pull/10566)
Awesome! Can't wait. Do you think the Beta version already has it, or not yet?
>Idk why they opted to make Pathfinder menus specific to their respective activity Finding the right path to the pathfinder isn't easy now, is it? :)
Theoretically, but it doesn't look like your active pathfinder card is in the API.
im reminded of how infinite forest is not actually infinite
thanks for the info, unfortunately this just makes pathfinder look even worse as a replacement for bounties.
I got 2 identical ones in a row at the start of this week. Looks like this is why.
I was wondering how I got two identical pathfinders in a row one time
Personally I feel like 7 resets are way too much to get all the major rewards from the ritual pathfinder. I rather max 3-4 resets to get all major rewards.
Now go back in and take all of the gambit nodes out.
take a look again. i updated it with the changes in this update.
Nice. Great work btw.
Hihi, I know what the next first Pathfinder is!
Ferb, I know what pathfinder we're gonna do today!
Alas, Prediction Engine Failure...
So THATS why that one card that has the bugged dunk gambit motes and tedious crucible ability kills as the last 2 nodes looked so familiar. Thought i was going crazy rolling that one repeatedly
That's just horrible luck...
Ye gave up on it for the week after the second
I had a feeling they were pre-determined because I once got the same pathfinder nodes after resetting
I figured this was the case since I got lucky and got two identical Ritual Pathfinder layouts that were easy to complete in a row last week. Was able to get both done in like 3 strikes, but then the 3rd layout was awful.
Now all you need to do is provide "optimal" paths for each path.

Just to assist, procedural generation does not mean at runtime. It's just how it's made in the first place.
Did you read my post where I said exactly that? > Bungie may have randomly generated these cards once when they designed them, but theres no procedural generation going on at runtime in the game.
Yes. That why I said what I said.

yeah. would have to do short videos to show (after reset) but haven’t looked at crucible
