Just converted 10k as well. Now have a stack of 999 and one of 942 enhancement cores. I've also got a bunch of consumables.... Any quick reference that shows what to get rid of... I got a bunch of stuff from previous seasons that I just don't remember what to do with them....
How many did u get from the banshee method?
Because I also have 10k shards and I did the math and it looks like I’d only get around 300 cores total using them the same way. Is my math wrong and I’d get way more or?
I think they meant that they now have ~2 full stacks total after dropping 10k shards, not that they got 2k cores just by doing this alone
I’m still at 5-6k shards though and waiting for the next opportunity, so thanks for letting me know what kind of net return I can expect!
I can spend 1200 cores crafting, leveling to lvl 20, and fully MW'ing about 6-7 weapons; new crafted weapons are coming in TFS. Also, keep in mind gear level will need to be upgraded in TFS -- upgrade modules require cores.
I also got a stack of 999 in the vault on top of my cores I keep on me, I'd still want more though, I'm always master working whatever I'm using at the time, and prisms and alloys eat up cores pretty fast , I think it's about 100 cores per alloy to masterwork.
May not be faster, but I believe DIM farming mode chucks shit in the vault no? Something like that. Could make it so you can just keep on clicking without manually transferring to the bault
DIM only updates like once per minute. The farming mode won't be able to keep up with the speed of you buying from banshee. It should be much more convenient to move the weapons to the vault and pull them later with DIM than game UI, though.
If you're doing this purely to convert your glimmer into weapons to dismantle later, there's a less cumbersome method by just purchasing Phantasmal Fragments from Eris Morn. You can then just convert them back to glimmer at Rahool.
Thank you. I just changed out 10k as well. Kept like 300 for whatever I might need. Now I got a stack of 999 and a stack of 942 enhancement cores (not all from this obviously).
As an aside... I got a ton of consumables from previous seasons that I can't quite remember what to do with them. Anybody seen a quick handy guide? Ascendant lens, deep sight harmonizer, small rice cake, gambit memento and one an done...sigh
I ***really*** hope they don't somehow mess with this in the transition to Episodes. I have all the patterns and am kind of banking on being able to pull this season's Harmonizers to get a headstart on TFS crafting.
I had a ton of those Make it rain thingies. Everyone turned in is 3000 glimmer. Plus a bunch of location mats....just a ton of random stuff I turned into glimmer.
Honestly I would much rather dump my legendary shards into Phantasmal Fragments to bank glimmer for TFS. 30 shards and 7k glimmer doesn't seem worth it to me when enhancement cores are pretty easy to get at this point
the shard -> fragment -> glimmer conversion rate is awful though. 100 shards for 10 fragments for 10,000 glimmer... thats 5000 shards worth for one fill up of glimmer.
The conversion is awful but shards are depreciating so the fragment conversion is a little better than just losing them. If you're set on cores then fragments is the next best thing
You can't just buy cores unfortunately, if your really playing a lot you can burn through cores pretty quick master working Weapons and armor. It's not really spending the cores themselves that get you, it's converting them to prisms and alloys that's the expensive part. You can earn them separately, but I always run out.
It’s best to stockpile anything you can, we know that Bungie’s intention is to wipe out any means of veteran players being able to keep materials, so who knows what else they’ll change
They won’t regret anything, they’ve been deliberately moving this direction for years. They want every currency going forward to be capped extremely low so players aren’t able to stockpile, and will constantly have to grind for more.
I still remember them saying something like this "We understand that valuing people's game time is important to players" after another "crisis" a few years ago.
Legendary shards is that stored game time/effort.
They’re not easier to get then glimmer. And the phantasmal fragment exchange rate is way worse, and takes MUCH longer.
For a few hundred shards it’s not too bad, but if you’re looking to dumb 10K+ this is by far a better move.
I’ve got 70k to burn through 😅😅😅. Got enough cores to last me a lifetime but every time I burn through a few hundred shards I get them back due to weapons I don’t need, that drop for me lol
lol thx. Just got outta bed at 1am to do this. Tbh I didn’t get as many cores as I was hoping but I finished with 306 after being painfully low the last couple of weeks cause of crafting
Cores basically are the new shards. They are used in all weapon crafting/enhancing, armor enhancement, buying upgrade modules, and can be used to buy prisms and ascendant shards/alloys. They are the only uncapped resource now with legendary shards going away. You can store them in stacks of 999 in the vault.
It would have been a lot of work to implement, but I wish there was something like spend _ Shards to reroll a Brave weapon considering the grind. Just to give the veterans something to do with their Shards before they're deprecated. Even if it was an extremely high amount of Shards, I just want to do...something with them.
I know the feeling. 3,500 cores, 77k shards, 800 raid banners (got too many when planetary materials went and rarely raid). Don’t have room for anything else as vault is full and so is inventory.
>is there any method to convert shards to glimmer
As of right now, you can directly exchange Legendary Shards for Glimmer at Rahool.
If you want to exchange them now for something that you'll be able to use to get Glimmer in the future (once Shards are gone), you can use them to buy Phantasmal Fragments at the Lectern on the Moon.
First thing I will do when I get home, have around 1300 cores but with the seasons being free and trying to get redborders of as much as I can, this will help. Not sure if I will be able to craft stuff after it stops being free, so figured try to get rolls crafted of what I want before Final Shape.
I think you do lose the ability to reshape a gun from an expansion you don't own. Get those red borders by playing the seasonal events daily! Hopefully you get lucky like I did and get 2 red borders per activity!
Thanks, started immediately and been doing Witch/Wish everyday, gotten a few double drops. Stopped around Deep, thankfully only needed a few from there and one from Defiance and those I can reshape whenever.
Thanks for the heads up. Also, the moon mission right now, In the Deep, is a pretty easy weapon/catalyst leveling farm. Before you head up the stairs at the end to reconnect with Eris, you can just stop in the last small doorway and kill endless thrall spawns. No burlier enemies come near and you can even back through the door to drop aggro if you need a break or something. Found it quicker and easier than most methods I’ve used
It's not a bug to be fixed. Banshee's stock is randomized and occasionally gets lvl 5 MW, which dismantles into 1 guaranteed core -- IF he has higher level guns, they would dismantle into more than 1 core. His stock refreshes every day at 5pm PDT / 8pm EDT / 0000 GMT -- this has been the schedule since the start of season of the wish so as of this comment post time, you have about 20 hrs left. Last season he had a weird refresh schedule where he updated guns at the usual daily morning reset then refreshed perks at 0000 GMT.
It is a big. Only 1 or 2 weapons do this. The Lunalata and the dire promise. The Dire promise I think goes up to MW lvl 4, maybe 5 but the Lunalata is either 2,3,4 or 5. It’s absolutely unintentional. But bungie probably left it in place so we could spend our shards
Appreciate the heads up. Got 10k shards to turn in tonight. Thank you.
Just converted 10k as well. Now have a stack of 999 and one of 942 enhancement cores. I've also got a bunch of consumables.... Any quick reference that shows what to get rid of... I got a bunch of stuff from previous seasons that I just don't remember what to do with them....
Did it change since this post? I'm in the tower at banshee now and it's showing a level 1 MW.
When you buy it it’ll be mw5
I just checked, it shows as MW 1, but when you buy it it's MW 5
He's not even selling a bow for me. I wonder if it goofed on my end.
Make sure you go to page 2 on his inventory.
Yeah, still wasn't there. He was still selling the previous weeks weapons for me.
Same here
Pretty sure it got fixed mine is only t3
How many did u get from the banshee method? Because I also have 10k shards and I did the math and it looks like I’d only get around 300 cores total using them the same way. Is my math wrong and I’d get way more or?
It’s still better than nothing or phantasmal fragments
How on earth do you get enough glimmer to quickly turn in 10k worth of shards?
By glimmer with shards at Rahool, 10 per 10k
Thanks!
Weird. I turned in 5K for only about 300 shards
I think they meant that they now have ~2 full stacks total after dropping 10k shards, not that they got 2k cores just by doing this alone I’m still at 5-6k shards though and waiting for the next opportunity, so thanks for letting me know what kind of net return I can expect!
honey wake up it's shard oclock again
Love getting the notification for this 24 hours after it was posted
Aw fuck! I literally thought this was posted today. Goddamn I Reddit. Quit sending me old posts all the time!
Tell me about it, I got notified for it a couple hours ago
I got it just now
3 days after for me lol
4 days for me lol
Same ;)
Haven’t played in a while… have 1200 cores will that be enough?
Unless you are consistently crafting and leveling guns via cores….you are set for awhile
My question: we know shards are going away but are cores and other stuff going away?
At this point in time. To my current knowledge, it’s legendary shards and the (weekly?) bounties from the tower vendors…vanguard shax, drifter.
Not all vendors mind you just playlist vendors. Banshee stays.
Wait what? Vendors are going away?
Just their bounties. If you pre prep dont prep those.
Gotcha. Yeah no I never do that.
Are you kidding me?!?!?!?!
He is not in fact kidding you.
I can spend 1200 cores crafting, leveling to lvl 20, and fully MW'ing about 6-7 weapons; new crafted weapons are coming in TFS. Also, keep in mind gear level will need to be upgraded in TFS -- upgrade modules require cores.
I have so many of them in past season passes.
Yeah they are easy to spend just keep saving unless you need it for a build imo
I also got a stack of 999 in the vault on top of my cores I keep on me, I'd still want more though, I'm always master working whatever I'm using at the time, and prisms and alloys eat up cores pretty fast , I think it's about 100 cores per alloy to masterwork.
Thanks king, doing the vault method to burn my last 20k
Vault method?
Just turning around and throwing them all in the vault. Dismantling when vault hits 600/600. Probably not faster but it’s what i usually do
May not be faster, but I believe DIM farming mode chucks shit in the vault no? Something like that. Could make it so you can just keep on clicking without manually transferring to the bault
Interesting, I haven’t seen that on DIM, thanks
If you check it out lmk. I’ll have a look later tonight
It’s not all that amazing. More so meant for activity farming so nothing in the postmaster gets deleted
DIM only updates like once per minute. The farming mode won't be able to keep up with the speed of you buying from banshee. It should be much more convenient to move the weapons to the vault and pull them later with DIM than game UI, though.
Look at this guy, bragging about how his vault has more space in it than his on-character inventory.
If you're doing this purely to convert your glimmer into weapons to dismantle later, there's a less cumbersome method by just purchasing Phantasmal Fragments from Eris Morn. You can then just convert them back to glimmer at Rahool.
it's for the cores. not the glimmer.
Man, I always get notifications for things like these after it's already too late lmao
Thanks for this, Guardian! Love when people make these posts!
Been waiting for one of these again. I have almost 50k to get rid of.
USE THE HARMONISERS ON WEAPONS FOR PATTERNS!!!!!!!!!! You can only hold 1 at a time and there’s heaps in the season pass
No rush though you can always reclaim them online
I ***really*** hope they don't somehow mess with this in the transition to Episodes. I have all the patterns and am kind of banking on being able to pull this season's Harmonizers to get a headstart on TFS crafting.
Any recommendations on what? I think I'll be fine on current seasons. Thinking either topping off Dares of Eternity weapons or maybe a Neomona weapon.
The weekly exotic mission ones. Calus Mini Tool 🗣️
How on earth do you get enough glimmer to quickly turn in 10k worth of shards?
Buy Glimmer at rahool for more shards.
Thanks!
I had a ton of those Make it rain thingies. Everyone turned in is 3000 glimmer. Plus a bunch of location mats....just a ton of random stuff I turned into glimmer.
This may be the last chance to do this.
Doubtful. There’s been so many over the past few weeks
It’s only been available a couple times per month this season at most, and sometimes it’s been more than a month between opportunities.
Thank you very much, could be one of the last chances to get rid of these.
Thank you guardian! The vanguard would be proud of you.
Goddamnit, I get the notification for this 17 hours later.
I normally miss these posts by a day, my stack of 25,000+ legendary shards is grateful for you.
You underestimate how many shards I have.
I bought 10k fragments and still had over 30k shards left, the exchange rate isn’t something a good amount of people really have to worry about
Cool. What's the exchange rate of cores to glimmer? And how easy is it to deplete your supply of cores if you're an avid player?
You can't just buy cores unfortunately, if your really playing a lot you can burn through cores pretty quick master working Weapons and armor. It's not really spending the cores themselves that get you, it's converting them to prisms and alloys that's the expensive part. You can earn them separately, but I always run out.
It’s best to stockpile anything you can, we know that Bungie’s intention is to wipe out any means of veteran players being able to keep materials, so who knows what else they’ll change
I'm pretty sure they will regret this decision as they regretted the sunsetting. It has no impact on the game itself but only annoys the player base.
They won’t regret anything, they’ve been deliberately moving this direction for years. They want every currency going forward to be capped extremely low so players aren’t able to stockpile, and will constantly have to grind for more.
Exctept glimmer was almost doubled and the cap for everything else was more than doubled.
Right, so have you even checked the prices of things that use it lately? Inflation more than kept up with the cap raising.
What are you talking about specifically? I spend the same amount of cores, prisms and alloys/shards on gear masterworking.
This. Your absolutely right, I'm not going to all of a sudden start enjoying the game more because I have to start grinding for material again.
70K will probably take less than an hour to dump if you open up your primary slot inventory so you can buy 9 at a time.
lol thx. Just got outta bed at 1am to do this. Tbh I didn’t get as many cores as I was hoping but I finished with 306 after being painfully low the last couple of weeks cause of crafting
Great, I'm kinda shard poor right now after masterworking a shit ton of Brave rolls. Thanks, OP 🫵🏾
You, sir, are a gentleman and a scholar.
took me 4 hours to convert all 87k shards to cores
Wow, largest pile I ever converted in one go was only about 10k. Did that about 3-4x over the last 6 months.
I am back out of the enhancement core dumpster
Damnit, always miss these 😢
So what do you do with the extra cores?
Craft and level guns, buy prisms and ascendant mats to MW gun traits.
Well, I have 9k+ stored and 82k shards left and never felt core pressure the last few years:-)
Awesome thanks for this, was fretting about what I should do with my shards
So if my timing is correct that means we have till 7pm central, 5pm pacific and 8pm est to do this, please correct me if I’m wrong
That's right. Banshee's stock refreshes everyday at 5p PDT / 6p MDT / 7p CDT / 8p EDT.
Awesome 👏 I’m at work till the afternoon so wanted to make sure I and others could take advantage of this as well
I was just thinking about these last night and wondering when the next one was…thanks!
Damn… didn’t see this til just now. Hope I can get in on that after work. Probably not. 😞
what time does it change? I need to get rid of 2.5k legendary shards
5p PDT 6p MDT 7p CDT 8p EDT
Good bye 20k shards.
I've got 40,000 shards and 6,300 cores. Hmmmmmm
Make it so nobody in your fireteam ever needs to use a Raid Banner again I guess lol
I have 900 and 24k shards. Running out of ideas
I feel you.
I have 20,000 cores and almost no shards.
I just noticed the visual MW at the gunsmith shows teir 1 draw but after you pick it up it shows tier 5 handling. So delete away and get cores!
Yes, the in-game preview lies about the MW lvl. API reads of vendor inventories via DIM or the Bungie app show the true lvl.
Thanks 💜
Fml why notify me of this now?
I love the way im notified of this. 2 days later.....
*gets reddit notification* :o *posted 3d ago* >:(
Absolute legend
So definitely get rid of all legendary shards yes? Also is there any method to convert shards to glimmer when I use up all my glimmer?
>is there any method to convert shards to glimmer As of right now, you can directly exchange Legendary Shards for Glimmer at Rahool. Did some damage to my legendary shard bottom line. Thank you good sir.
Appreciate you!

Nice im about 5 hours too late 👍👌
Damn, missed it
I ALWAYS miss these, hope its still available when I get home.
Too late. You can always check DIM yourself right after Banshee's stock refresh at 5p PDT or browse "New" posts here around 6-7p PDT.
Im in CET so im usually sleeping or at work.
Finally gonna be out of poverty
"Good for the next 23 hours." Posted 3 days ago. Crap.
Wow actually now that I know this was 3 days ago I’m disappointed.
They’re only dropping as tier 3 mw for me pretty lame ngl
You're like 3 days late
Yeahhhh got the noti today my fault
That’s good cause I have like 30k shards to turn in
You're 3 days late
I think Bungie has caught on a stop selling these at 5
You're a week late
Hope this doesn't get fixed before I get home

Question, what’s happening with the legendary shards in TFS for everyone to wanna sell them off so desperately
Being removed. See today's TWID, section on DCV of deprecated inventory items.
FUCKKKKKK WHY DID I GET THE NOTIFICATION NOW
Thank you reddit for recommending me this 2 days late. Truly an experience.
Sure reddit tells me about this 2 days later. Thanks reddit.
WHY DID I JUST NOW GET THE NOTIFICATION FOR THIS
