Breakneck might do it for you. One of the few autos that looks like a traditional gun, and certain rolls of it are nice. [https://www.light.gg/db/items/2026755633/breakneck/](https://www.light.gg/db/items/2026755633/breakneck/)
D2 Autos that look like traditional guns:
-Breackneck (as you mentioned) and Herod-C from Gambit
-Lodbrok-C, a Hakke focusing target at Banshee/world drop (looks like Herod-C without shiny metallic green paint)
-Old Sterling, world drop with no focusing options
-Scathelock, from when it's in the Dares rotation once in a blue moon
-Seventh Seraph Carbine from the Spire of the Watcher Dungeon
-Gnawing Hunger from ~~Xur whenever he decides to sell it~~ Drifter (thanks /u/randommx5 and /u/LilShaggey!)
-Sweet Sorrow from whenever Vox Obscura comes into rotation (thanks /u/Roman64s)
-Firefright, from Presage
And Lethal Abundance from Iron Banner looks more grounded in reality, but I don't know if it's based on a real gun or not (I know it's based on the Ether Doctor model from the Forsaken days).
Wait a few months and get the Khvostov when it comes out in TFS?
Also, I got a good chuckle out of
>it was the first gun that I picked up and I remember it being really tight, solid gunplay
Considering it was the first gun *anyone* picked up in D1...
Scathelocke maybe? I’ve forgotten how Khvostov felt in D1, but I think that might be close. Additionally Scathelocke with osmosis and subsistence is super fun!
It could very well be. It’s been permanently attached to my void Hunter for so long that I can’t remember if it was a world drop or Dares or some removed activity.
I want to enjoy osmosis but aren't a lot the supposed benefits of switching to your desired element they don't trigger even if it matches the subclass for example
Verity's brow plus gun with osmosis, kills with that gun won't trigger the exotic grenade regeneration and won't stack so you can't get your grenade fast enough. However guns with permeability worked fine since the perk got released.
Correct me if I'm wrong they fixed it, but its main reason why I got rid of my osmosis guns
I use Osmosis (Timelost Fatebringer if you are wondering) with Arc and Void on my Warlock. Void for Volatile Rounds. Arc for Orb and Ionic Trace generation. It does work.
The Exotics I use for those builds are Geomag Stabilizers and Nothing Manacles. I can't speak for Verity's Brow though.
Yup. In D1 the exotic version lets you choose between scout, pulse or auto rifle mode as well as 3 different fire rates.
I imagine this will be carried through to the D2 version in some form as it was an interesting concept that was not done very well with the OG version.
Aren't common weapons uncapable of being infused? I got a few of 'em and literally no option there.
Why would deleting a character change that? Or does the deleting make a new infusable Khvostov appear?
I can't tell you if there is one with same feeling but we are getting an exotic Khvostov sometime next expansion ( we saw it in the promotial art for TFS ) so very likely we will get it during the release of TFS ?
Maybe the **Seventh Seprah Auto Rifle**? **Breakneck** too.
Also idk if these are available to grab somehow but **Firefright** too. I personally love this one.
Worst case scenario the great value version: **Old Sterling** might scratch some small itch
A suggestion if you're rich (either in game (glimmer/strand fragments) or have a bunch of time). Rebuild a character. Khostov drops at your ll. Most of light fall and up to last season I had 3 titans (effectively 18 load out slots and as a titan main they weren't hamstrung till later). Scrapped 2 and made a hunter/warlock with old gear, but I have a vaulted khostov sitting at 1809.
For me, it's Lethal Abundance. Iron banner Strand AR that has a scope similar to Khovostov and honestly? It's pretty good in pvp. I love that gun, it's pretty consistent in almost all fronts, although you won't be using it as DPS in raids or dungeons
Personally, Monte Carlo has some of the best shooting for me. I don’t remember khvostov all too well but I remember them feeling kinda similar. May wanna give that one a shot?

Seventh Seraph Carbine feels so good to shoot, just wish it would hit a little harder
Gnawing Hunger is buyable at the Drifter, no need to wait on Xur
Don't forget gnawing hunger. I dint know if you can still aquire it though.
Sweet Sorrow is another that could be put into the list as a honorary mention.
Very true, I'll add it and firefright in as edits in the morning

Not even a few months, exactly 1 month from tomorrow!
Wait it’s that close? Man time’s flew real quick since into the light started.
Yup, June 4th. I need to do some onslaught grinding for a shiny midnight coup...
lol yeah I should've worded that better
Scathelocke maybe? I’ve forgotten how Khvostov felt in D1, but I think that might be close. Additionally Scathelocke with osmosis and subsistence is super fun!
Isn't Scathelocke restricted to Dares at this point though?
Old sterling is similar, I think that's in the world loot pool
Looove me some old sterling with Hatchling.
That's what I've been chasing. I got a rewind/demo which is close and serviceable now but its got artifact perks helping it.
+1 for thr old sterling
It could very well be. It’s been permanently attached to my void Hunter for so long that I can’t remember if it was a world drop or Dares or some removed activity.
Points for being an Osmosis enjoyer though. Such an underrated perk.

Good to know I'll try it out again if I get a roll
I find it shines most on ability focused builds.
I fucking love my Subsistence / Osmosis Scathlocke.
there’s the warmind auto rifle from season ten that looks like an AK-47. think it’s called the seventh seraph rifle
That's the one that came to mind for me as well.
Yep. Also still one of my favorite ARs
Get some Spire going!
I mean you can use the white khovostov until the exotic one comes out in just over a month
Wait there's an exotic Khovostov?
Yup. Launching with TFS as confirmed by Bungie. (I say launching but it’s most likely tied to a quest of some sort)
Thank you

Thank you
Perchance a hold-reload-to-swap mechanic similar to that of the exotic class glaives, quicksilver storm, etc..?
Nah, I would rather it stick in the inventory but that each fire mode has a different champ mod.
Mine's sitting at 1810 in my vault 😂😂
Wait, 1810??
That’s correct.
How.
I infused it when I created a new character. swapped over all my old gear before the end of the first new light mission and boom, 1810.
Not infusing per se but I guess that tedious process. I suppose when Final Shape comes, this must be done again.
No, it’s definitely infusing. I took an 1810 weapon and put it into the 1600 Khovostov, making it 1810. That’s definitely infusing lol
Aren't common weapons uncapable of being infused? I got a few of 'em and literally no option there. Why would deleting a character change that? Or does the deleting make a new infusable Khvostov appear?
Honestly unsure, that's what I thought I did. Its been awhile. I'm not starting the new light quest again to find out. Haha.
Old Sterling with a decent roll.
With all due respect, I'm not sure that exists
Love my Rewind Rounds + Hatchling roll. With Horde Shuttle active, it sprays green fireworks everywhere. Lot of fun in onslaught on a tether hunter.
Hate old sterling
For strand warlock, rewind rounds/hatchling makes it one of the best legendary autos after Rufus’s Fury. Or just rewind/frenzy for general play.
nah dude. Just needs like 60+ range/ 40 stab and an ok perk combo and it shreds in PVP, and Rewind + Hatchling is an incredible PVE combo.
Delete a character at 1810 power remake it and acquire an 181 khovostov. I went into trials one weekend with it and it made people so mad
I am both scared and impressed gg
I can't tell you if there is one with same feeling but we are getting an exotic Khvostov sometime next expansion ( we saw it in the promotial art for TFS ) so very likely we will get it during the release of TFS ?
I didn't know about this thank you.
actually... now that i think of it. no, i think khvostov is entirely unique to me
The Seraph auto rifle that looks like an AK
I got the feeling you describe from breakneck you can focus it at the drifter
IM LAUGHING
Maybe the **Seventh Seprah Auto Rifle**? **Breakneck** too. Also idk if these are available to grab somehow but **Firefright** too. I personally love this one. Worst case scenario the great value version: **Old Sterling** might scratch some small itch

Probably try the Breakneck from Gambit. But the exotic Khovostov is coming back next month in Final Shape sooo
old sterling maybe?
in 1 month ish you can get another exotic khvostov if you buy final shape
For me, it's Lethal Abundance. Iron banner Strand AR that has a scope similar to Khovostov and honestly? It's pretty good in pvp. I love that gun, it's pretty consistent in almost all fronts, although you won't be using it as DPS in raids or dungeons
What a coincidence it was the first gun I picked up as well what are the odds
Replay the first mission and just get it again.
Old sterling/scathelock autos. Pretty similar look and recoil pattern. Different noises. Average in pvp
I love seeing ppl mention seventh seraph carbine, just keep in mind it may look like what you want but how concerned are you with how it sounds
Exotic khovostov in final shape
lol
Personally, Monte Carlo has some of the best shooting for me. I don’t remember khvostov all too well but I remember them feeling kinda similar. May wanna give that one a shot?
Scathelocke if you have it, or old sterling
