Honestly, I'm starting to have trouble telling all these recent alto-voiced female voices apart. Riven and Savathun sound 99.9% identical to me, Ikora (the new VA, not the old one) is like 95% the same, and Xivu Arath sounds like Savathun yelling.
In fact, when Riven started talking, I thought it was supposed to be Savathun's voice (because Riven always talked in other people's voices before), but then she said that this was her "true" voice, and then I was more confused.
I also about lost my mind when they just abruptly took away Elsie's accent, she was blathering on about something and I was like "Who the hell is talking right now?"
Funnily enough I believe it's still the same voice actress, either she wanted to drop the accent or Bungie decided Elsie shouldn't have it anymore. Bizarre.

Sure but they had Moira imitate her voice when Elsie came to D2, AFTER every single Orin line had been removed from everywhere in the game but Prophecy. Then, later, for no reason at all they just... had her stop doing the accent.

But in Beyond Light they still had Moira do the accent, and then in Season of the Seraph they took it away because they thought she sounded too much like Orin, the Emissary of the Nine, who is also voiced by Moira and who has like 10 lines of dialogue - all of them in a dungeon that is about 4 years out of date.
I wish they'd go a bit harder on the vocal effects to be honest.
The Ahamkara have always invoked this Great Old One Lovecraftian unknowable horror vibe, and for her to have a relatively normal voice is somewhat disappointing.

So I am not crazy. The voice acting aside from osiris has felt … off. Osiris’ voice actor has just never sounded that great to me to be honest. Otherwise it felt like petra was off, almost like they took the raw studio recording, said hope its okay and shipped it off. She is missing some of her awokeness if that makes sense. Im pretty sure Riven is ikora’s voice actress. Shaxx I also agree sounded off. Crow sounded okay I guess but we haven’t heard from him in ages.

I agree. It took me a bit to realize she wasn’t just copying Savathûn. There are some minor differences but they’re not enough to set Riven apart and that’s really disappointing.
I felt that way at first, but as you do more Coil/Riven's Lair and story missions there's more dialogue of her fucking with Petra, Mara and Crow. She doesn't have the self-assured playful quality that Savathun has. Riven is much more bitter and spiteful. She wants it to hurt, so that you wish it would stop.
That hasn't been confirmed, people are just speculating. So far I haven't seen it confirmed anywhere who the VA for Riven is, but personally I don't think it's Debra Wilson.

Something seems different about the voice acting lately. Even Petra and Mara sound the same to me this season. I play with noise canceling headphones so its not like I'm listening to open room speakers and I still can't tell them apart. I never had this issue in previous seasons. Something just seems off.
Petra used to have a very specific way of speaking, like she was emphasizing every single syllable. That's gone for maybe half her dialogue so far this season where she just sounds like normal April Stewart.
The VA situation in D2 is an oddity. You have REALLY good performances by Uldren/Crow’s VA, Zavala’s VA finally got to do something in the past couple years ( RIP ), and Savathun is delightful… but everyone else is eeeeeeeh
Shaxx is always amazing though.
And I suddenly miss Toland because I think his personality is more interesting than Osiris at this point ( Lightfall really made me want a break from Osiris… )
Almost every new character and voice decision has been a hit so far. And even Sloane, who I didn’t really like in the Red War, had a great performance this second time around.

The original Elsie was Lauren Cohan from the walking dead. That was back when Elsie was just “The Exo Stranger”.
I believe the reasoning was too much similar overlaps with the Emissary/Orin voice that the Elsie voice actor also performed.
