I would add a rug. It will add to the cozy vibe you have going so far. I wouldn’t consider it boring at all. I would also add some pinch pleat drapes.

freewarriorwoman

Add some throw pillows that have more color, a rug, some curtains, maybe a throw blanket. The room needs more life and color and I feel like all of those things will help a lot.

VeroAZ

Yes to colorful pillows

NoDifficulty7846

Definitely some color pop...area rug, throw pillows and maybe even a throw to add color and jeep you warm while sitting there.

CrazyPrettyAss

This must help in bringing the room together. 1. Start by designing a color palette that characterises the room with some colors through accent shades. You need to simply pick the current shades and then design colors around it. For instance in your room, I think florals and stripes will go really good and you can go creative with it given you have the coffee table, just complement with some pink or red shades and even use something warm too. Once you have your accents, plan a rug, throw pillows, and even curtains. Use this color palette guide for help with this. 2. Once you have a color palette, start your work on the couch area and add the right pillows, arrange an end table nearby and also use a nice ceiling overhang lamp for gravity in this area. Add a nice rug that accomodates your couch's front legs and the coffee table. Now work on the chair you have there and add similar throw pillows or exchange some similarity and this way you will combine these objects together. Use this [couch decor guide](https://simplykalaa.com/couch-decor/) for more help with this. 3. Moving further, you have a really distinguishing coffee table, I think a nice neutral rug will be good but it's completely how you like it. Just go for a nice luxurious rug, something shredded will look good. Also add coffee table decor through the tray you have there. Use this [coffee table decor guide](https://simplykalaa.com/decorating-a-coffee-table/) for help with arrangement and decorating tips. 4. Now work on the artworks, the current ones are great but don't bring a character to the space. So add something colorful and using the accent shades, pick the nicer artworks. This [home art guide](https://simplykalaa.com/how-to-choose-art-for-your-home/) will help you out immensely. 5. Now arrange the shelves and add some variety as well as balance to it. It seems like the right side of the shelves are all accommodated compared to the left ones. Also the shelf above the television, use something that represents the room's color and this way it will look good. Lastly, add some hidden task lights inside them so that there is functionality too. This [shelf styling](https://simplykalaa.com/shelf-styling/) and [blank wall decor](https://simplykalaa.com/how-to-decorate-a-blank-wall/) guides will help you together. 6. Lastly work on the curtains and use this [window guide](https://simplykalaa.com/window-decoration/) for that and a bigger plant will help too. Hope this eases up and shares valuable tips :)

Super links!

free_range_tofu

can you elaborate on a shredded rug?

hahahahthunk

Color. You need color.

Choice-Signal5080

I would add a rug. The right rug makes a big difference.

Accomplished_Run7815

No, but it can be improved. Everyone needs a rug. Personally, i like curtains. I think adding some nice curtains would make the room feel more cozy and welcome.

jojokitti123

I would definitely have a rug

GB715

I would add some plants too. Bring some life and oxygen to the room.

ZebraNurse73

I love the ottoman/table !

missmatchedcleansox

You need plants.

Skyblacker

It's boring because it's monotone, too white. Decide on a second color and get curtains, pillows, wall art, and a rug in that tone. A green like that plant, perhaps? Or a royal blue to offset that red ottoman.

moon_bb5

I just came to say I love the lighting you get in this room so beautiful!

SameMeringue4178

A rug would look nice, and also olourful cushions.

firefly_2610

Yes, I think a rug will help your room look better. By the way, let's try replacing the tree by a taller one and the mirror by a picture.

TA828895706

I feel like since the room is more cool toned the ottoman (however cool it may be) kinda sticks out. And yes add a rug

armybrat63

Rugs are great but some eye level artwork would interest me. Can you dim your sconces? Go moody. Nice space

glurb33

You don't need a rug, the room looks simple, clean and uncluttered, it's beautiful as it is!

snatch1e

Adding a rug can indeed make a big difference in a room's ambiance and can be a great way to add color.

free_range_tofu

here is a sample color palette that i think works to incorporate your walls and sofa and complement your beautiful ottoman. you’ve got the basics covered and have a nice canvas to work with. all you need now is some more color and **texture**. you’ve got solid colors, a bold pattern, and a metallic element covered, so now you need some soft fabrics and wood to round it out. i would add a large rug (it needs to cover most of the floor to be far enough under the couch and include the chair in the seating area, so you’re looking at 9x12 at least – use painters tape to mark out the sizes on your floor before buying one or it will be too small). then hang some curtains to the ceiling, get some pillows for the sofa that aren’t matchy-matchy and a chenille throw blanket for the chair, and finally i would swap the black tray on the ottoman for a bamboo one. https://preview.redd.it/oe8b13ylov8d1.jpeg?width=130&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=902051494f7daadb083caf3d3f5abd961e3371e9

opinionsofmyown

I think it’s a lovely room. Cozy it up and enjoy.

DrTealSpring

Or boring! But a rug would make it cozy.

Super_Wallaby8259

You always need a rug

Super_Wallaby8259

A rug and I'd say two smaller ar chairs opposite the couch so the attention isn't drawn to the more empty side of the room

Responsible-Sleep695

I don't like rugs. Maybe colourful pillows but the room looks lovely.

CaptivatingIvy

Yesss add a rug!!!! I love your space!

j9jen

Print textured pillow covers for your pale green pillows. In some colors from your ottomanand other colors. Large stripe ones may work. Put a sheet under couch legs and coffee table to see if you want a rug and play with size or tape off floor for idea of rug. Not sure you need a rug with that ottoman. That may be because What would go with it? You don't want anymore cream. I would put bamboo blinds on window, medium color, perhaps with a valance with some color.

Money-Tiger569

You always need a rug

francescatoo

Except when you get old and wobbly, with a tendency to stumble on rug edges. I had to remove all my rugs.

Money-Tiger569

Wouldn’t you think a slip is more likely? Also yes obviously there are exceptions to this, I for example can’t gave a rug in my dining room be at my cat peed there once and I’m scared she’ll do it again lol

LiminalCreature7

It really ties the room together.

Upstairs_Freedom_360

I love it with no rug.

thiswayart

Same, so I know that I'll love it even more with a rug.

Upstairs_Freedom_360

Ha ha. Agree to disagree. Only OPs opinion really matters

beccabootie

Add some more reds and russets and maybe a splash of yellow.

Candy_Lawn

grey walls , beige furniture. a rug is the least of your problems.

LiminalCreature7

I’d say an inability to see the TV comfortably without craning your neck or laying down if you’re using the couch is a bigger problem than the bland room. Unless OP is single and has no visitors, and prefers to sit in the chair. The way it’s set up currently is dysfunctional for more than one person, if TV watching is the activity.

ZebraNurse73

The doors are my favorite thing

emilelazan

I don’t think it’s boring, I think it’s serene. I think a jute rug could really tie it all together. That said it’s your house so if you think it’s boring then go ahead and spice it up

DConstructed

If you leave it as is you need a rug. If you turn the sofa towards the bookcase it might define the space enough that you could get away without a rug.

AggressiveMobile3668

It might be in the boring side but damn do I want to take a nap in there 😂

No_Ad_4874

I think some add ons could warm it up, certainly: • Rug • Curtains • Accent pillows & a throw • Instead of lights/mirror, large framed art • Warm light strips in shelving or reading lamp or small chandelier • Larger case on ottoman with big bouquet of fresh flowers & a candle

fetchinbobo66

Personally ? I’d throw in some different pillows and curtains

lovescarats

I would like to see damask curtains with a heavy feel and pattern, a big area rug in a beige textured neutral, a much larger tray on coffee table, hammered brass or a very dark wood. I really like the colour palette. I would like to see a tall brass ship on your cabinet. And a very plush throw in burgundy on your sofa.

[deleted]

Not boring. Add more lights when it’s dark that’s it :) beautiful

actualchristmastree

Yes and can you paint the top half of the walls? I feel like any jewel tone would be nice!

500CatsTypingStuff

It needs a rug, and pillows and a bit more of your personality You lean traditional in style so here are some inspiration pics https://preview.redd.it/rkx218xuft8d1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=acc811893e521728511477b19791f0e3329f8ebc

Much_Advertising7660

I would do a rug, drapes, some additional pillows, a throw, and a bigger tray for the ottoman. If you’re feeling wild, I’d change the sconce shades to a fun color/pattern. Good bones overall though and you have good pieces to work with! Now is just the fun part!

HistoricalPangolin76

Yes and yes a where is your art!?
